I REALLY Love those analogue gauges. I do not need flashing yellow or red shift lights, just being able to see a Speedo gauge CLEARLY is a huge plus for me. I hate (and have hated for a long time) those stoopid small digital readouts tucked under some corner of the gauge cluster with a giant Tacho.
As a ZZR 1400 rider I totally agree with all your comments on what would improve the bike. I get what you are saying . I love my bike more than any other bike I have owned over the last 40 years, but in my opinion you are spot on with your suggestions. The bike is what it is, and we all realise what a unique and fabulous bike it is. It makes me smile even when I’m not riding it . Keep up the good work.
I agree about getting to the battery. It’s tough. I do think it needs cruise control, only because I find myself doing triple digit speeds on interstates without even twisting the throttle too far. It would be kind of a not go to jail speed control. This bikes need for speed is so addicting. I like it that way. Lol. Stay safe Goblin.
I have a ZZR ZX11 and honestly I find myself wishing the same thing. Hitting triples is way to easy and doesn't really take much of a twist to get there. I tried it in 6th gear and quite literally less than a 1/8 twist I was over 100 MPH within a few seconds. Exhilarating yes, go to jail for Free not really. It is tuff to just do 80 MPH anything less seems I'm in idle nearly.
@@anonimous2451 that's what trips me out about this bike. Artist be cruising along all casual and I look down I'm doing like 145 or something. My Suzuki was fast but it just didn't seem as smooth and comfortable
First of all thank you for your channel that focuses so much content on this great bike. I really enjoy it. I agree with most of your suggestions for mods, but there is good news. No need to change the gearing to address the low to mid range torque / power. I have a 2017 ZX14R and had buyer's remorse shortly after purchasing it specifically because of the lack of low end and mid range punch. It was depressing actually and I didn't ride it much. That is all changed now. There are ridiculous levels of big-brother restrictions on this bike in stock form. The great news is none of them are in the design of the engine (love those Kawi engineers). All of them are in the ECU. I've found that Ivan's Performance flash is (for me) flawless. I feel like I have a whole new bike. It now makes incredible power everywhere in the rev range, but the power is delivered so smoothly and predictably (like a bullet train on steroids). Power roll-ons now in 3rd and 4th gear from 4k to 6k on the tach (even starting at 3k) bring endless smiles. At 7k in those gears I'm already thinking inside my helmet "this is crazy - I better really focus". ALL the restrictions are completely turned off (including all power limitations in 1st gear) and traction control is completely turned off (you can easily turn it on of course). Whatever settings you left the bike in when last riding are the same when you start it the next time (I love that). Also no need to dink around with the O2 sensor, Power Commander or anything like that - 100% solved with the ECU flash. Ivan doesn't use a password and will even put it back to stock at no charge (I would never dream of going back to stock). Of course with Ivan's flash you can still choose the low power mode and all the traction control levels. I'm not connected with Ivan in any way (no financial endorsements of any kind) but I'm so thankful for his ECU flash. You might enjoy this video discussing it (on a Concours, but same impact). ruclips.net/video/eb9XPlBv3hI/видео.html This is Ivan's site: www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/ and specifically his ZX14R page: www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/12zx14.htm One other mod I made I think is worth mentioning is the tires. I had Michelin Road 5 tires put on and the difference in handling is night and day. Turn ins are now effortless but also feels the bike is on rails. With the flash and the tires I now ride all the time! Cheers.
Make the bloody spark plugs easier to get to !!! Took me 2hrs to change em and a swollen hand and arm doing it ! I put a set of straight bars on mine because I didn't want to buy the battleship gtr. Yes the battery is a bit of a pain to get to but I actually think it IS a security thing 😲 who's going to try and nick your battery ?? I like the gauges there beautiful don't need any of that fancy TFT all singing and dancing with stupid features that YOU DON'T NEED IT! Who needs to know lean angle, throttle position 🤔🙄🙄🤪 Cruise control yes 👍 a factory hugger, and front fender extender. 👍
I own the 2021 Concours 14. Last bike was R1150RT and they are similar. Love simplicity of a bike, less to go wrong. Perfect bike with out the complexity of having to think about how should I change it every time I get on to the point I figure it out when I get going. Want to know in each situation how the bike is going to react.
I understand your wishes for the ZZR1400/ZX-14R. I'm in the states and I've got one, as well. As for the color TFT display, it's an extremely expensive piece of "tech" that isn't necessary. The guages and displays are there to give you information at a quick glance, and the old school LCD and analog guages do that perfectly fine. My guess for the reasoning behind no cruise control, is because the ZZR1400 might be marketed as a "Sport-Tourer" in Europe, but in the Americas, it's marketed as a "Hyper-Bike" (a marked step above "Sport Bike"). Yet they're identical. If you put cruise control on this bike, not only would it require an expensive retooling for production, but the ZZR1400 would effectively be labeled it a "Tourer", and scare away your brash, youth demographic, since tourers are looked at like Honda Goldwings. As far as your complaints about the low end and mid-range power, sprocket replacement and what not, it sounds like you just don't like the ZZR1400. It sounds like you want to turn it into your ZH2. The only changes I'd like to see Kawasaki make is heated grips. I like to ride as long as I possibly can, every season, and riding in early Spring and late Fall makes for some extremely chilly rides! Prior to the H2's release a few years ago, there were wild rumors that Kawasaki was going to supercharge the ZX14R. Let that sink in for a minute... Because for as crazy as the 999cc supercharged H2 is, a supercharged 1,441cc ZX14R/ZZR1400 would be absolute madness! ...and I would tell Kawasaki to:"shut up and take my money!"😆 Be thankful for the unicorn that the ZZR1400 is! A time is coming, very soon, where the 1400 (and other large displacement motorcycles) won't be legal anywhere!
You are SOOO right!!!...I wouldn't take much notice of the author of this RUclips, he's never been over 115mph..and has admitted to only doing 115mph ONCE!!!. WTF!!!..He should ride a 250cc or 500cc bike and give his bike to someone that deserves it!!..what a wanker!!!..
There is a bike that does or has some, if not all, of the things that you mention. It's the Kawasaki GTR1400/Concourse 14. And it is definitely more of a sports tourer than the ZZR.
About the battery, when I bought mine new in october 2020, I asked to the seller to add a cable from the positive terminale and he did it for free. So I just need to plug on it and to connect the negative cable from my charger on rear break pedal and it is perfect. The design is not affected because I can hide the cable.
I also have my pride and joy, a nice candy orange burnt ZX-14R, or something like that, for reasons of poverty due to prevailing conditions in my country I will probably have to sell it and it will surely be the worst day of my life, however I think as you say an interesting improvement would be to modify the gear ratio by adding a tooth to the front sprocket, getting a longer ratio could lead to better fuel economy by sacrificing a bit of launch time (0 - 100) I think That would be a good modification option, the rest is great for me.
I own a 2012 model and really liked it. And like you I considered it more of a sport bike than a sport touring bike. I don't have a problem with other people touring on one, if that's what floats your boat go for it. But personally if I wanted a sport touring bike, I can think of much better choices at least in my opinion.
Stock ECU you will feel the bike punch with power and torque at 7000rpm. It's heavily restricted for emissions below that. Power commanders don't do shit I've had one.. Get a dyno tune and ecu flash (I've got mine done) and that punch comes in at 3800. My dyno sheet reflects it too. No longer a ramp up at 7000. But linear lines from 3500 to redline. I'd totally be down for the other newer tech you mentioned, I like the analog dash but tft middle would be great, Hayabusa got the dash area right! Quick shifter and cruise too. All great, but if a gen 3 comes along, it will be significantly more money than a Gen 2. I like how you mentioned it's no longer the fastest bike out there, but I'd argue everything else faster is so track focused it's kinda not comparable. This bike is in a league of its own and definitely hits harder than any other Japanese 1000 (minus the H2 and CBRRRR-RRRR) I put my girlfriend on the back, tour in comfort and still give the gap to 600s and Challenger Hellcats. There truly is nothing else on the market capable of that.
I have a 2012 and ABS would be my pick to add to mine. I do a lot of night riding through deer and hog country and they can jump out of nowhere and instantly be in front of you. I know people who’ve hit hogs on their bikes at night. Relatives included.
I think a lot of your suggested "improvements" would have required a ride by wire throttle. In 2012 a lot of people still didn't like them, as they were snatchy and rough in the early days. And a lot of people would prefer to have the "direct" connection of the cable throttle 🤷♂️
I feel like a majority of these issues would probably be sorted out with a gen 3 zzr 1400. It’s been a while since gen 2 was shipped so a lot of the features that we consider near basic add ons would still be a little bit more rare to come across back then then in 2020+ where it’s basically a standard nowerdays. Still looks like an amazing bunch of fun to ride though!
They cannot add the cruise control unless they change the throttle from cable to electric. They probably didn't wanna spend money on development on this bike because it wasn't selling and h2 came out
I think that alot of your points are completly valid, the only thing i disagree with is the gearing, i have been lookin into gettin my 2015 zzr tuned and i have heard that some of the low end issues come from the way the bike is tuned from the factory. It may be worth looking into for you as well. Meanwhile im just going to keep praying that the rumors of a 1400 supercharged model are true. Ride Safe
If this is your pride & joy I hope you've done the oil plate mod and the oil pressure mod... keep it alive forever btw a tune & pipe will increase your bottom end a ton
Reasoning for only panniers available on the zzr1400 is due to aluminium frame as the zzr 1200 had a steel frame which could take more weight! I had a zzr1200 and preferred the 1200 over the 1400
For me- best bike on the world...im driving this bike in Norway but ...because I'm from Poland- I got one trip- from no to pl...and was super- brutal...nice and f'nig fast💪...I love this bike...and I will...
need a rain and offroad mode because i take my ZX14 into the mud and dirt often, looking for a Super Tenere lol if you want more torque you remove the secondary intake throttle plates, they’re closed until 6K RPMs, it’s a completely different bike after it’s removed
That battery placement reminds me of my chevy cruze.. they put the battery behind a plastic cover in the wheel well.. so basically you had to remove you front drivers side tire then remove 6 screws and a plastic piece then you could access the battery
I pretty much like the bike the way it is. The only thing I might consider doing is flashing the ECU and putting smaller exhaust on it. Having said that I do like the way it is quiet and stealthy.
Would have been nice to see the tech features from the H2SX on the ZZR in a refresh, but I'm sorry to say unfortunately the SX isn't quite up there, not performance wise at least, check out the video below from the bike show 🙂 ruclips.net/video/4aLoZCWQyVI/видео.html If the performance was up there with the ZZR, I would have wholeheartedly agreed with you. Its a missed opportunity from Kawi imo. Thanks for the comment 🙂 👍
@@GoblinRides I think the performance is there, albeit a little corked up due to emissions... Good flash and i think that race would have went different. Either way both great bikes. Maybe a S/C on the 14!! With TFT dash!
THIS IS A MESSAGE TO GOBLIN RIDERS…….. could you please get back to me with your comment , I have had 3 Honda Blackbirds in the last 20 years , I have also got BMW GSA on a 16 plate , I am sooooo tempted to get a ZZR 1400 , please give me some advice on myself making the right Decision, I absolutely love the look on the ZZR 1400, it looks amazing ??
Quick shifter and cruise control are a miss definitely. But TFT no thanks. Part of the attraction is the big old style clocks. Imo. Yes I have a Gen 2.
First of all Great bike you have I myself have had a blue 2006 model for about 10 years now and I have a healtech quickshifter ,Tre Gear indicator, speedo healer for the 16/42 gearing it’s needed a dyno pc3 slip ons and no cat but i went back to the 17t front because about 8k in second it smokes
Certainly change the battery location, anyone could disconnect the alarm and away they go, would also like to have seen a digital speedo on the gen 2 like the Z1000 but I can live with it, loved my Gen 1, adore my Gen 2, hope Kawasaki release a Gen 3 sometime in the future
Ventura do a good soft luggage system.Get yourself a Sargent seat..way more comfortable than the horrible stock seat. And all of your issues with the power etc can be sorted by having your ECU reflashed...I had mine done by Don Guhl motors in states....makes the bike run so much nicer. Just remember that the European models have O2 sensor... USA models don't....you need to tell them that when ordering...that is important.. Also the bike needs a steering damper.... I run an ohlins. Cheers
I pretty much agree with everything you said. I for one would like a center stand instead of dragging out the race stand all the time. I find down low I have plenty of go go, any faster and my shoulders would dislocated. 😆 Nice vid though.
Good video! I have the Performance Sport version 2017 from new and was looking forward to a 2020 update that didn't happen. They cancelled it in the UK so I decided to keep it. Changes I'd have liked to have had are TFT screen, LED lights and better corrosion resistance on the alloy parts and thicker paint or at least some primer under the satin black bits!! . Extras I got when new were a colour matched top box (Kawa labelled but it's Givi); centre stand (useful but shittiest paint job ever) and a radiator guard. I've added heated grips since and they're brilliant for that empty roads but freezing Christmas day/New Years day blast in Cumbria:). Awesome bike, doubt I'll ever sell it. Btw, not bothered about cruise control/ quickshifter tbh.
The z2 has just spoiled you. :) Yeah, I agree about everything mentioned here. I would love to get more torque at low rev too, tft would be excellent, cruise control yes, I do not need the top box. Performance Sport with better rear suspension and front Brembo brakes + much more beautiful exhaust pipes is the most important choice in my book.
No need for a TFT,old school dials work just fine, quickshifters are no good on the BigZed they destroy the gearbox. As for L power mode you are only using 75% of the engines power. You can alter the gearing yourself if you wish.
I have a gen 2 performance sport. i also have a full set of hard ( and waterproof) luggage for it. 3 x 47 litre cases. made by krauser, and i have toured around europe with it. one thing i wish the mighty kwacka had is.... cruise control and digital speedo ( that can change to kms), and a mental supercharger, thats it.
Get a lightweight lithium ion battery , get a full brock Alienhead exhaust, get some zx10 wheels, get a 1 tooth smaller front sprocket and 2 teeth larger rear sprocket, get a sprint f185 air filter.
Some great vids on the ZZR I’m thinking of trading my GSX 1400 but I’m 6”3 and not sure if it will fit me ok I guess a test ride would answer that question 👍👍
Hey Allen. I'm 5' 11 3/4" and I think 6' 3" would be an ideal height for the ZX14R. I put on bar risers for comfort but sometime still wish my arms were just a little longer. If you decide to get one see my earlier comment on this vid about Ivan's Performance flash. I promise you won't be disappointed.
Sorry, yes, on my 2nd gen 2 Busa. I like to do all servicing on my bike and watched some vids on guys changing sparkplugs on the ZZR1400 and thought f... that. Even shop mechanics will dread working on this bike, far far too tight in there . The Busa's a doddle! Still, the Kawa is a fantastic bike but I would not swap the Busa, it's a beast even in the twisties. 2 great bikes! 👍🏻
my 2009 been changed to a+2 tooth on the back. Just that makes a nice useable change. Taking away a little top end (who in Canada is going 300km??) With a speedo healer that works perfect in recalibrating your speedo. Cruising at 120km/h puts the revs at 4200.
In the video you are talking about the holy grail of motorcycles what I really understand. I am searching my whole life for such a bike. Is the H2 SX SE the holy grail? At the moment I am not sure which bike to buy...the ZZR 1400 or the H2 SX SE. In 2021 I had the ZH2 and I loved it! But due to wrong decisions I sold it and regretting it now. Did you try the H2 SX SE? I would like to have 1400ccm but a lot of bikers praise the H2 SX SE. What to do....😂
With my zzr1400, there are a few things that I believe could have been better. (none performance sport version) those exhausts, oh dear, they have to be the ugliest thing I've ever seen. No centre stand.. The sesting position, is very painful for a tall rider. I will be changing the exhausts soon, Sunday, I added bar raisers and lowered my footpegs. Helped millions. I have had a centre stand added as well as a few other things. There are other things like the battery and no cruise control... However, none of this is enough to tarnish the beast. Hiccups, yes, but nothing major. Despite these technicalities, it is the best bike I've ever owned and the best all round bikes ever. And the best value for money bike.. You get a lot of bike for the money.
The two things that bug me about the ZX14R are the sidestand spring, catches on stuff. Easy mod . And the Headlights cannot be set individually. Outback night rides amongst kangaroo means you need better night vision Kawasaki
These are opinions. My ZX14 2008 SE, has had its battery replaced after 12 years. To me, 3 covers being removed every 12 years is not too much to ask. But I would never install a lithium battery. I'm concerned about stability and the inherent fire risks associated with these products.
Speaking about top speed.. I had my bike parked for a long time because I was driving my truck it was a really cold winter. Truck broke down I was in a hurry to get to town so I jumped on the bike hauled ass up there and back 35 miles each way. I was hitting 165 no problem.. morning jumped on the bike hauled ass to the bank. 130 on these farm roads. Came out of the bank and I was on the phone and I looked at my back tire I almost passed out.. had wire showing through all the way around. All I could think of was at that tire blowing at 165 the night before. Can't believe I didn't check it out, I usually check our everything... But I supposed it just wasn't my day to die.
(TFT Display): Yes, they're "pretty", but your screen is meant to be (functional), and give you rapid information at a glance. If you're staring at your screen and admiring the colors, you're eventually going to become someone's hood ornament! (Battery): Alas... yes, this is a drawback. I wonder if Kawasaki was trying to centralize weight distribution. (Cruise Control): I agree, it would be nice to have, but the ZX-14R/ZZR 1400 was originally designed to be Kawasaki's "Flag-ship" Hyper-bike, not a Sport-Tourer. The Kawasaki Concourse was their "Sport-Tourer". (Heated Grips): This should have been a no-brainer for Kawasaki. Now it could be argued that most climates don't need Heated grips. But even in the dead of summer, here in the States, in the early morning and late evenings in the desert area's, Heated grips are extremely helpful! (Refresh Design): I won't claim to know this for a fact, but it seems to me that Kawasaki didn't intend for their ZX-14R/ZZR 1400 to be produced this long. I think they intended to retire the ZX-14R about a year or so after the launch of the H2SX. I don't think they anticipated the overwhelming fan support for the ZX-14R, however. And thank goodness for that! I've been dreaming about owning a ZX-14R since the release of the gen. 2 in 2012. Financial barriers held me back until 2020, and I was finally able to buy my 2021 ZX-14R! It's my dream bike, and its everything I dreamed it was, and more! Thank you Kawasaki for continuing to produce the ZX-14R until I could buy one! Now, that said, should Kawasaki give the ZX-14R a refresh, and supercharge the 1441cc engine... I would HAVE TO have one!😅
I went with the z900 150 mph :)).... Shows how little brain I have.... If you didn't go that fast on the ZZR 🤗. Would love a bit of cruise control and quickshifter/blipper on any bike
the screen sucks too. maybe if they come out with a zx15r they will correct these issues. I can only hope. Still that bike is nasty even in stock form. Truly a busa killer. And I love the busa.
Comedy.)))) Why did you buy the bike??? Get a GTR. I find all you complained to be utter nonsense. Luggage is available whatever you like to have. Options are almost limitless. Panniers are dangerous for one and top box options are plentiful. But soft luggage is the best option with a rack. Quick shifter on these breaks the box plus if you know how to use a clutch and an engine you won't need one. You wouldn't get a warranty for one. You want more modern instruments get a H2. You want to change rpm to lower why not buy a Harley? If you don't like the ABS/traction control then flash the ECU and remove the components from the bike. Battery what is your problem? How many times do you need to get there? Once a year? Once every 5 years? You do know that battery and it location in the bike is part of the weight distribution. No bike is perfect and custom suspension is one of the main upgrades for the 14 (even for the factory Ohlins that is not a custom suspension. Better but no cigar). Second is clutch slave and main cylinder upgrade. The two main short comings on this bike. The main difference between the Gen 1 and 2 is not the engine size. The little gain is not really that much if you do an ECU flash. The main difference also is not in looks or electric gizmo's as most like to think. Not the Brembo's either as Nissin is just as good with the right pads. Funny enough you mentioned the gearing. Gen 1 is 17/41 with 116 links and Gen 2 is 17/42 with 118 links on the chain. This is the main difference between the two bikes that makes the Gen 2 feel more faster and more powerful. Sure there is a small difference on power output but had both bikes the same gearing the gain is minimal. For the both Gen's this opens up big gains in two major areas in the bike. For Gen 1 you can fit 42 rear sprocket with 116 links. The gain is quicker bike and 28mm shorter wheelbase compared to stock Gen 2 that will give much more nibble sports like steering. The same you can do for Gen 2 by removing 2 links. Added gain for the steering caster is to fit 55 profile tire. It still feels like on rails but it also turns. Gen 2 with 41 rear sprocket is maybe what you want. But to be honest it is the wrong direction what the bike should be. Clutch I would recommend K-Factory slave and 19RCS (ratio click system) master. Stock components are rubbish.
I love the looks of the ZZR 1400 (ZX14-R) so much but even coming from an S1000sx (Ninja 1000) I think it's just too much bike for me. I'd never use the power, I'd just have it for the looks as a 2nd bike.
Rumor is Kaw builds all years of the "generation" at once...then ships them out each "model year"...which is why even though new tech becomes available mid gen...Kaw still keeps putting out the same bike. I have a voyager with the same issue...the radio was literally outdated when it came out....the 2022 voyager comes with the exact same basic stereo that the 2012 did even though EVERY other manufacturer has improved theirs...and then Kaw decided to quit selling the ipod integration add-on units 2 years ago, so now you buy a 2022 bike that you cant connect your phone to...go figure. Love the ZZR, but I agree...that dash is WAY outdated. Sad you can get a ZX400 with a more modern dash..lol
Technology is great when it works but it doesn't always work so they can keep the tft display for other bikes I'm glad it doesn't have one yet. I want one of these bikes so bad and while the styling might be dated that's fine with me because having your toy in the shop for electric problems!? Miss me bro...
I'm 6'4" with long legs. The GTR1400 is a good match. Previous owner was shorter, put lower seat, handlebar risers, and taller windscreen. I'm comfortably upright with no wind buffeting, but legs fairly bent due to lower seat.
LCD on my 06 ZX-14 was fine. On my 14R it is unreadable most of the time in daylight. Adding extra teeth to the rear sprocket makes first gear much too short, which it is already. That exhaust must have come from the factory, it's too quiet and ugly to be aftermarket (no offense). We never got the Ohlins and Akrapovic option in the States,
Never gonna be doin 186mph? Uh, think again. I even got pulled over doing 140mph and didn’t get a ticket. But yeah, I do absolutely see the benefit of losing a tooth.
Do yourself a favour and give it a good wrist full from 1st to6th and you will fully understand what a compete animal it can be I spend most of my time below 5000rpm and its a complete pussy-cat to ride but then there is the other side which is that torque which is just immense it just doesn't stop giving. Agree with the need for a tft screen trying to keep an eye on that speedo is a pain .be safe another good vid
Irmão para ter essa moto tão moderna com tantos componentes eletrônicos é fácil compra a 2023 os apaixonados por um modelo 2013 compram assim mesmo como ela é !! Simples assim desculpas a sinceridade
I gotta ask why do y’all pronounce it like that? Idk why but being from USA and it’s a zx14r for us and we call y’all versions Z Z R but the way y’all say it is like nails on a chalk board lol love that video thanks
I just use cortech bags. put painters tape over the edges and all is good. The battery is a bitch and thats nothing compared to changing the plugs. Thats an abomination to motorcycling. And it needs a FREAKING cruise control for Christ sake.
It was about tft instead of lcd panel, not tft instead of analogue gauges.
@@herkko61 Moot Point. I do not like any type of TFT,LCD,LED digital gauges. End of point.
Same here!
That is the one thing that does piss me off.
You might enjoy this video discussing it (on a Concours, but same impact).
ruclips.net/video/eb9XPlBv3hI/видео.html
This is Ivan's site: www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/ and specifically his ZX14R page: www.ivansperformanceproducts.com/12zx14.htm
One other mod I made I think is worth mentioning is the tires. I had Michelin Road 5 tires put on and the difference in handling is night and day. Turn ins are now effortless but also feels the bike is on rails. With the flash and the tires I now ride all the time! Cheers.
Great info! Thanks
Who needs to know lean angle, throttle position 🤔🙄🙄🤪
Cruise control yes 👍 a factory hugger, and front fender extender.
Because for as crazy as the 999cc supercharged H2 is, a supercharged 1,441cc ZX14R/ZZR1400 would be absolute madness! ...and I would tell Kawasaki to:"shut up and take my money!"😆
Be thankful for the unicorn that the ZZR1400 is!
Spot on mate! ZX-14R is the holy grail of anything on two wheels
There is a bike that does or has some, if not all, of the things that you mention. It's the Kawasaki GTR1400/Concourse 14. And it is definitely more of a sports tourer than the ZZR.
Great points and I agree. The thing you missed is a separate wheelie control so I could leave TC on, but still wheelie.
I need to find a 2012 with the gold blaze green factory flame color scheme. Some bar risers turn this into a great sport tour. Such a beast
hello , your audio quality is soo perfect , i would like to know how you get such good quality
About the battery, when I bought mine new in october 2020, I asked to the seller to add a cable from the positive terminale and he did it for free. So I just need to plug on it and to connect the negative cable from my charger on rear break pedal and it is perfect. The design is not affected because I can hide the cable.
the ZX14 isn’t for modern customers it’s for fans of the Honda Blackbird and Kawasaki ZX12R
Exactly
I also have my pride and joy, a nice candy orange burnt ZX-14R, or something like that, for reasons of poverty due to prevailing conditions in my country I will probably have to sell it and it will surely be the worst day of my life, however I think as you say an interesting improvement would be to modify the gear ratio by adding a tooth to the front sprocket, getting a longer ratio could lead to better fuel economy by sacrificing a bit of launch time (0 - 100) I think That would be a good modification option, the rest is great for me.
I hope you don't have to sell. Once Kawasaki stops making them, you'll never see engine sizes this big again.
@@robertborker179 I know, I know and I'm trying everything so I don't have to sell it
I own a 2012 model and really liked it.
Was thinking of buying one of these about 3 years ago, but decided to buy my Gen 2 Busa
Atlas throttle lock works well for cruise control.
I had a zzr1200 and preferred the 1200 over the 1400
For me- best bike on the world...im driving this bike in Norway but ...because I'm from Poland- I got one trip- from no to pl...and was super- brutal...nice and f'nig fast💪...I love this bike...and I will...
need a rain and offroad mode because i take my ZX14 into the mud and dirt often, looking for a Super Tenere lol
if you want more torque you remove the secondary intake throttle plates, they’re closed until 6K RPMs, it’s a completely different bike after it’s removed
I am with you on the TFT I have hunted the net to find a TFT replacement dash, or how to change an LCD to a TFT but no luck so far.
THE BIKE your talking about /dreaming of is the h2 sx se sir :)
Would have been nice to see the tech features from the H2SX on the ZZR in a refresh, but I'm sorry to say unfortunately the SX isn't quite up there, not performance wise at least, check out the video below from the bike show 🙂
ruclips.net/video/4aLoZCWQyVI/видео.html
If the performance was up there with the ZZR, I would have wholeheartedly agreed with you.
Come North guys, great scenic roads with fast twistys. Or as the Americans say, "GREAT CANYON CARVING"
ENJOY! 🇬🇧🏴👍🏻
There is bar ends that function as throttle lock to use it as cruise control
🙏❤️ Love from Scotland ❤️🙏
Cheers
Best thing l fitted on mine was a set of risers centre stand and a givvi 52 monkey top box
Agreed about the low down gearing
No need for a TFT,old school dials work just fine, quickshifters are no good on the BigZed they destroy the gearbox.
As for L power mode you are only using 75% of the engines power.
You can alter the gearing yourself if you wish.
I have a gen 2 performance sport. i also have a full set of hard ( and waterproof) luggage for it. 3 x 47 litre cases. made by krauser, and i have toured around europe with it. one thing i wish the mighty kwacka had is.... cruise control and digital speedo ( that can change to kms), and a mental supercharger, thats it.
Speak for yourself. Allot of us top out our bikes every single day.
Hi for panniers i use sw motec panniers their are amazing
Get a lightweight lithium ion battery , get a full brock Alienhead exhaust, get some zx10 wheels, get a 1 tooth smaller front sprocket and 2 teeth larger rear sprocket, get a sprint f185 air filter.
My givi st609 takes panniers and had a top box as well
Some great vids on the ZZR I’m thinking of trading my GSX 1400 but I’m 6”3 and not sure if it will fit me ok I guess a test ride would answer that question 👍👍
Just bought a 07 plate. I'm 6'3. Put bar risers on. Pretty comfortable and I came from a riding a Versys most recently.
They should give it 13 to 1 compression ratio just like on most modern liter bikes
my 2009 been changed to a+2 tooth on the back. Just that makes a nice useable change. Taking away a little top end (who in Canada is going 300km??) With a speedo healer that works perfect in recalibrating your speedo. Cruising at 120km/h puts the revs at 4200.
Speedo Healer isn't available for 14R, only 14.
@@jokacz123 isn't that a shame for sure.
Legendary big bike!
What type of helmet are you using. I noticed it has a slider to cover your glasses with
These are opinions.
As a guy that's been riding 50 years, it sounds to me like you should have bought a minivan.
the screen sucks too. maybe if they come out with a zx15r they will correct these issues. I can only hope. Still that bike is nasty even in stock form. Truly a busa killer. And I love the busa.
I never use the clutch changing up on a zzr1400
Trade it in on a 1400 gtr concourse
Kawasaki knocked one out of the box ( read between the lines ) they could have made it glow in the dark but someone would complain about that too
😂 want more storage get the concourse. Same bike set up more for touring.
If you go and live in America you can get the 2022 ZZR1400.
Technology is great when it works but it doesn't always work so they can keep the tft display for other bikes I'm glad it doesn't have one yet. I want one of these bikes so bad and while the styling might be dated that's fine with me because having your toy in the shop for electric problems!? Miss me bro...
Out of interest, how tall are you? I’m 6ft6 and debating if I could even entertain a bike like this or the GTR1400
We never got the Ohlins and Akrapovic option in the States,
One of the best? it is the best
U can rock and roll with that girl, don't forget to put on a fake part on the moter to stash your weed🧝⚡
You can only have one or the other, Zh2 or Zzr, what are you choosing?

@@GoblinRidesthanks, one of these could be the next bike.
I'd do 200mph at least once, if I could. I've topped out every motorcycle I have ever owned.
The only downside for me it eats back tyres apart from that l love mine

M8 most people wouldn't know where the battery on zzr1400 is and why would they want to steal a battery ffs
I just use cortech bags. put painters tape over the edges and all is good. The battery is a bitch and thats nothing compared to changing the plugs. Thats an abomination to motorcycling. And it needs a FREAKING cruise control for Christ sake.
Dude, the bike you are describing is the Concourse, maybe you bought the wrong bike?
Just get a gen 111 busa ,so so much better allround 😆 lol Oz busa buy
115mph m8 you'd be better of with a z1000sx loads of low down torque and does 130 flat out
Lol just buy the hayabusa it has all the features you want
Not the engine or HP though!
Cruise control ffs it's a?sports bike think you be better of with a bmw r1200gs
Mate what ??? 120mph is your top speed in all that time ????? 😮 Shame in you ! 😉
Alot of experience riders reduce the back sproket by one tooth and increase the front sprocket by one tooth and then it's perfect🧝⚡
Why don't you just change the sprockets then .?
still UK is a shitty place for hi speeds.... so sell it to me 😜
