@@liv0003 Same here! I've always wanted a gen 1 Busa, I think they look great, and c'mon they're Iconic, but after doing some research I went with the ZZR (ZX-14R) because it checks some personal boxes better than the Busa- More low end torque, comfort, and less unwanted attention. They're also usually cheaper, less owners, better taken care of/ better condition, and unmolested by eBay parts (not stretched and slammed scraping on the ground) I also found out that, for some weird reason, it's around a quarter of the price of my 05 Gixxer 1K to insure. That might be a fluke though.

@Ninja Zx10R the Gen 2 has an increased engine capability to 1441cc , traction control, slipper clutch, twin cooling fans slightly longer wheelbase and they do a performance sport model which includes olhins rear shock and front brembo brakes with braided brake lines and the front end styling changed from separate lights on the gen 1 and the side engine fairing for ventilation probably missed something but they're both great bikes

Great bike. The best is it wasn't built to be a street legal race bike. Ergos are great. Seat on my 2009 is fantastic. Hours in the saddle and you will not have a problem. The zx14 is very docile to ride as long as you have the ability to be careful with that right hand. There is no need for power modes since this is very predictable. Had not been riding for over 20 years and my last bike was a yamaha fz600. No problems with getting back to riding with the zx14. And so happy to have proper displays... No digital garbage. There is no replacing in seeing those needles sweeping away. Street riding is fantastic. You always have power no matter the gear or speed you are going. No reving the hell out of the bike to get into the "power band". Living where there tends to be a fair amount of wind in the foothills of the rocky mountains the weight and size of this machine is most welcome. One word to describe the zx14 would be "perfect".

There will come a time, maybe only a year or two from now, where the ZX14R/ZZR1400 will not be available. And people won't believe that a Sportbike/Hyper-Bike was available with an engine that large.
And those who wait will lament not having bought one new.
This has been my dream bike, since the 2nd Gen. was released in 2012. I was able to buy mine brand new, last year, and it's everything I was expecting (and more!) Should there be a 3rd Gen. ZX-14R, I will be on the waiting list! Can you imagine a supercharged 'ZH-14R'?
Alas, it is probably not to be. This is probably the end for the great 'King of the Quarter Mile'.
The ZX-14R is the equivalent of the Shelby Mustangs, the Camaro SS and other muscle-cars in the late 1960's, just before the gas crisis hit, and all cars got anemic 4 and 6 cylinder engines! Look around you. It's happening right now!
Get one while you still have a chance!

I don't agree with everything Yammie says, but he does put out some good content, every other channel speaks high of the zzr1400, same as I don't agree with everything said in this channel, doesn't make it a bad channel. If you're buying used be sure to consider an older year because face it, with over 200 horsepower and over 100 Ft-Lbs torque you're going to be going VERY fast before you notice the difference. I think the Busa is simply cooler, but when it came to buying one I quickly changed my mind and got the Kawi. Much better deals to be had on nicer, lower mile, old guy owned bikes versus a Busa of the same year which usually have been beaten half to death, dropped, and poorly rebuilt and modded by some 20 year old squid. With the ZX-14R (ZZR) being faster and cheaper than a Busa on top of everything (very comfortable too) it really was a no brainer. It's practically my first street bike, and hopefully the last one I need.

I say mine is a sport touring bike with the emphasis heavily on sport. I've ridden it from Michigan to Texas for the MotoGP races. Ridden 600 miles to get to great roads, then tore em up for a couple days and rode home. Have saddlebags and a trunk and I can put in 12 hour days in the sadlle no problem. All I did was the small risers, a corbin seat, and a taller windscreen for comfort. A tire change makes all the difference in handling in the world on these - the stock tires were horrible. I run Michelin Road 5's and they transformed the bike.
100% this is an expert only bike - I've been riding for 40 years and had my ama road racing license back in the 80's. This is the only bike I've ever ridden that takes my breath away if I'm away from it for even a couple weeks. But as long as you have the experience it's easy to ride. You just have to have a plan before you pull that trigger because the rate of acceleration at WOT can easily get ahead of you. Unleashing the beast is not to be taken lightly!

Well, some of the so-called bike enthusiasts today really don't impress me, nor am I taking any advice as well, I was riding MC when I was 6, and I've seen firsthand the problems with them, Hondas weren't bad, but Kawasaki was the leader in performance, comfort, reliability, handling with the fastest bikes around, triples 500, 750 H2,
900, 1000, & 1100, I've owned them all & did all the tricks & making them faster, the 750 H2 stock would eat the 900 stock light to light & to this day I consider the Kawasaki # 1 from any bike today, yes I've owned Norton, BSA, Pan, Shovel & Triump but the Kawasaki is my best favorite & I think that most people don't nor Will admit it, I'm have 62 years riding & will continue on ❤😊

In my mind for those three:
Best street rider: ZX-14 (Most usable torque and comfort, but lacking in tech, will feel heavy at slow speeds)
Best track bike: SK1 (Screaming engine, loads of race tech, most lightweight)
More reliable track bike: ZX-10 (Screaming engine, loads more tech then the ZX-14)
Honestly, it really depends on what you want to use it for. If it's only street riding, then the ZX-14 will be the way to go. If you plan to do some track days, then it has to be one of the other two.
Although I will note the torque feeling from the ZX-14 will totally blow the others out the water.
I hope that helps, let me know what you think after test riding the 14 and 10 👍

For me the best sounding is the Honda cbr 1000 rr Fireblade. The sound of the zzr 1400 is nearly equal to the gtr 1400.

Great review, I also have this bike and the ZH2. Unfortunately I've been spoiled by the cruise control, and quick shifter on the ZH2. I still think the ZX14R is a great bike, but at 65 years old I can ride the other bike longer without wrist problems.

Fortunately for me, I find my ZZR600 to be very comfortable as a sport tourer, even after hours of riding, as their riding position is nowhere near as aggressive as the ZX supersports.

I'm no spring chicken but this bike is and has been ,since it's gen1 the best sports tourer ever ! I've a gen2 now had it around 6years and can't bare the thought of gettin shot of !!! I'm 68 and was on a full change of hips knees till the Tory party put paid 2 the full set of operations but where there's a will ,as they say ? this bike is irreplaceable even allowing 4 bias ,the lad talking about the bike has got it reet ! Carefull and unobstructed thinking at all times taking the comfort and power in2 consideration what it is and listen 2 the lad riding it ! He's reet 👍👏😁😉

Honest question for anybody who has tried this, but how does the ergonomics compare against a ZX12R B model? I'm looking to chop in my Fazer Thou and R1 for a sports tourer, but the R1 holds too much of a sentimental value to me, whereas the Fazer was always a winter hack. I lusted after a 12R for some time, but may look into the ZZR1400

I really enjoy my 2011 C14. As fast as any on the street, where 10 thousand plus rpm blasts aren't practical. It'll come out from under you if you're not careful, wheelies in 3rd gear at 30 mph.
It's a great bike... just saying.

How long do you think people will still be able to find good, used ZZR1400s? Context: new rider, trained on MT-07s at bike school, and my dream bike to work towards (once I rack up enough years and ride time) is a ZZR1400. Was gutted to find out it has been discontinued. (Note: will get something like a Z650 or an MT-07 as my first bike)

The ZZR has a cable throttle, right? It all comes from there. Smooth as the rider, predictable, DIRECT. What more could we ask for?
Exactly the same on my CB650R, by the way (except like half the power). No need for electronics (AND LATENCY) where they don't belong.

Quackin' booshit I tell you. I have an MT09 and I'm hankering for a rocket again. However, I live in the states so we can actually use the power occasionally. Busa IS a great bike also, disappointed in the new one though. Best sounding engine is the cp4 yamaha puts in R1 and MT10. Put a good exhaust on it and NOTHING sounds better.

Earlier this summer I decided it was time for another bike so I’ve been looking the right one to show up I’ve had a super naked on my mind something like a mt10/9 superduke gsxs1k and one day I come across a nice low mileage black 06 zx14. The 14 hadn’t crossed my mind until then it was close to home so I hopped on my bike and went to look at it and was able to take it out for 25 min or so and that’s all it took to become absolutely hooked. It does everything well with one complaint how hot they run and how much radiant heat they put off in traffic other than that I can only say good things about the big Kawasaki. Oh yea one last complaint I found that I couldn’t stop saying things like damn it holy shit that thing is fast.
