This bike is superb for quickly touring vast places like Australia, or even the Great Plains of North America-where you have empty and long straight roads with lots of wind. I rode it for about 8000 mi/13000 km; it was incredibly comfortable, solidly planted on the highway, and with so much effortless passing power. I’ve owned a lot of big bikes over the last 20 yrs, blades hyabusa , super blackbirds etc , my favourite was a 06 zx10 r , after 2 yrs had to get rid cos my self control was poor and was into triple figures every ride , the thing did 107 mph in first if you took it to the Rev limiter , I replaced it will a 11 plate triumph speed triple , naked and the fastest I did on that was 120 , the wind blast was terrible, cheers shane uk 🇬🇧
My dad has a couple of ZX9r's, they are scary machines! I asked him how quick it is after his first ride when he got his first..."It'll do 0-driving ban in seconds. Don't tell your mum I said that." 😂
This bike is so controllable that make the rider lose self control. "Let's test it on highway guys, NOTHING CRAZY" 😂... I knew you wouldnt hold from pulling 🤣. That's why i sold mine after 5 years. I just couldn't have self control. Went back to vfr again and got a c14 too. I admit i miss this beast, but i remember i have three children too, and neither the viffer nor the concours will make me wanna pull all the way like the zx14 did.
Yea, It's a dream bike! But I'm going to get one!! And no, you shouldn't sell it! (But you've got to maintain, your urge to open that throttle! Tickets are no fun!) The ZX14R is the best bike that you're going to own! What more could you ask for? A turbo kit for it!!..lol..!! (I suppose you'll have to wait till you are 63 years young, like I am, to just cruise it along the road!) Great video! I could really relate to how you feel, while riding the ZX14R! Be Safe, brother!!
The Zed, Zed R is one sweet motorcycle and it does handle better than a bike of its size, only ever use full power and traction control one even in the rain the throttle connection is so good enjoy it will put a smile on your face. I've loved every episode and yes they are a pain to work on.
Nothing crazy guys just 170 mph 😂 sell the bike to me I have the self control haha. Really enjoyed your series, been here since the beginning, glad to see the first ride finally! - Amy
I've had a VFR1200FD (173hp, EU spec) for the past season, great bike but I felt like I need a little bit more, especially at the low range, so I've sold it and looking for a ZX14R for the upcoming season. You can get yourself in trouble even on a 50cc if you're doing weird things and vice versa, can ride a 200hp hyperbike with no issues if you know what are you doing. I've been riding 200+ km/h (it's like 140 mph I guess?) like every single day, no issues. Ride safe, thanks for the review! 🤙
Rode one of those at 300kph, tons of fun. Agree about the comfort and the ride. Only issue I found is that it's pretty long and not easy to drag around in fast twisties. Cracking sports tourer though
Awesome bike and great rebuild! I do have a 2013 VFR 1200 F and I absolutely love it. ABS, traction control, linked brakes, perfect mirrors, ridiculous power and torque and it is fast. Planted at any speed, especially into the triple digits. I also have a nicely restored 84' VF 700 F. I love that bike as well, but it is raw and does not leave a lot of room for error. I am much more confident on the 1200 because of the features on it. Ride safe brother!
Triple digits is 3rd gear no sweat. I have a 21 ZX 14 r. Keep it, it’s a classic that will end production soon enough. You will feel 16 every time you ride it. I do, and I’m 58. BTW, it’s like that super hot and fun friend with benefits, you tell yourself you won’t go back..... but you do :)
Anyone saying rider aids are a bad thing, doesn't really deserve to be riding. All they want is to prove something to others. They are stupid. Rider aids are a good thing, gives extra safety and peace of mind. I can control my bike without them no problem but i still ride with all the aids all the way up anyway, especially with the shitty roads that we get around here in Europe
Yeah, I love my zx14, it's exactly how you called it it just pulls and doesn't care. You barely feel like you are speeding too, outside of all the cars going 80 yet flying by.
I like the shoutout to the Patreons at the end. I like how they are all bikers too. Sweet bikes. I really like that dirt bike with street tires on it. 1st time I seen that. And I like that light blue bike and the others. All cool bikes!
Great comfy bike. Makes 100mph+ feel like 30mph. Great for crossing countries and continents with ease. But still really flickable in the twisties. I think I might pick a black one up as my next ride. Thanks for the video sir, I have to agree with all your points on this bike. By the way I used to own and love a pre 98VTEC VFR, so I guess my question is should I buy a ZX14 as an only bike? Keep it and move the VFR, you said it yourself its better! If you were in the UK I would make you an offer today.
It has the best ergonomics I've tried on any bike, and I could easily just ride that thing all day long. It's built for that stuff. As much as I love the Busa as well, its ergonomics is just built for tiny people so I could never own one of those. The Busa is more nimble than the ZX14R, but once you get up to speed it's hardly noticeable. I'd still choose the ZX14R any day over the Busa, simply because of ergonomics.
Holy shit dude, never realized how close ya where! I miss my hometown Wareham and I remember that train station and area so vividly. Almost deja vu to me only realizing where you were once you drove up next to the gas station in the beginning of the video! I used to ride my NOS blackbird through that lil strip all the time!
Go for a overnight tour on it, you will see that it is brilliant as well. Throw a tank bag on the front and a bag on the back, use the inbuilt strap retractable clamps and you have ample space for your gear.
Jest got one of thease. Its bean standing for 4 years so needs new tyres and a service .cant wait to get it sorted and go for a first ride . Great video i really enjoyed .and it was helpful to see what working on the big girl will be like . Like you i will do the work myself
This was the funniest video. He didn't mean to do it. Didn't want to do it. But he did it. 😂😂😂 I always heard people say. " I don't want that bike because It will make me go fast" never believe them until now😂😂😂😂
I love my zx14r. Ppl never believe me when i tell them its comfy to ride. Goobs of torque! my question to you is... What does your 600 feel like after thrashing around on the zx14r?? I loved this video series. Great work!
I’m super tempted to get one before they get shelved. I understand how a bike like this could easily tickle your inner naughtiness. Maybe just maybe the reason so many people like these is because of some sense of reward for mentally challenging yourself to resist the temptation.
I have one of these and the same year. I have not gone faster than 160km or 100mph. Just because it can, doesn't mean you should. It will make cars go backwards, stretch your arms and flatten your eyeballs but like any trill sport, there are old and bold but not two are the same. Ride carefully out there brothers and brotheresses.
This is my dream motorcycle my dads friend used to have a Kawasaki Ninja ZX14 in electra blue. I hope I find a zx14 in electra blue after I graduate high school next year. When I get it I might probably fly by my dad's friends house to suprise him.
It's an intoxicatingly power bike and if you take 1 you'll love it ,if you don't you'll miss it ! I've had the gen1 and the gen2 bike now around 4years and it's going 2 be owned by me till I'm done 😂want nowt else I'm 67 and I never get on it without feeling excited and it's true love ❤️ you're reet when you say it's happy doing anything and everything it's perfection and it's that good it makes you so much better a rider especially when you get used 2 the bikes manners that are in the main impeccable! The best put 2gether bike I've ever had 🤗🤚👍✌️😇
Been waiting to see this video, mustve missed you on this test ride. I was riding through Wareham and Plymouth just about every nice day we had. Love to see you out there some time, awesome vid.
Cool video dude! I'd keep this one, yes, you did 175 but you handled it perfectly! You know what your doing and m sure you have more self control than you think.... just never get on the highway! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I like the well balanced thought out ergonomics of the entire instrument cluster Hero; also like your honesty as a vlogger which is honorable and needed in today’s living. Praise Yeshua forever! I like you content, thanks.
Any gear is the right gear in a 14R. It's a really easy bike to ride...until you really open it up...over 7K it's a whole different motorcycle.....with the right tires, it will deal with a litrebikes in the twisties quite easily. It don't weigh less the a Bus with the stock cannons on....38 pounds of slip one.. ..holy shit. 2012s don't get ABS in North America, sadly. Can you tell I have the same bike? Keep it...its an everything bike....I did 189 mph in a standing start 1/2 mile airport event on my 2012 and I ride it casual all the time. Great review!
Honestly, it's not that much more crazy than your other bikes. Could be a VFR replacement. But we say flip it and move on to another project. Really enjoyed the series. 👍
"I don`t have the maturity to ride this bike"😂!!!! Don`t worry, none of us do!!! She`s got that special way of casting a spell on you and you`re gonna be doing what she wants to😂
Had a zx14 12 years and the R for 3 years. This is one of the finest bikes ever made. It is so refined and has 200 hp. Looks like you live in Pickup Central. We call them utes They can cost up to $A200,000, but a base RAM costs $A80,000. Side note, saw lots of RAMs in Nederland, huge truck in the tiny streets. The bike handles crap roads. Has increase of power at 7000 rpm. You have done a great job of fixing your bike. You dont get into trouble with them as it has fantastic engine braking. I use mine on open road in 6th gear usually 80 to 100mph. Glad you realise you just leave it in top gear on open road. I pass road trains...Kenworths with 3 trailers full of grain....in seconds. I love this bike even though i ride my cruiser to save my license. You got it right ...the bike does fast without any drama. It is mind blowing. I am pushing 68 years old now and come home and think....i just rode at 150 mph.....wow. I Have Had MINE FOR 15 YEARS....the bike is superb.
lolol....you did a great job on it. If i was living overthere and could afford to buy it off you i would have done so in a heartbeat. I will deffo watch it if you end up doing an other rebuild
if i were to only have 1 bike it'd probably be this , handles good at high/low speed while being comfortable and stupidly powerful , really hard to find a fault with the thing outside of self control / in the off chance you have to push it up a hill.
Put it in full power mode and traction settings two & enjoy 😁 you can also belt it off the line in them settings, wheel will come up but then it will put it back down and go like a rocket 🚀
Oh wow. Never seen you go that fast. At one point I thought you was gonna slow down but you kept going and going. Take it to a runway and wring it’s neck
I was expecting this kind of comments from you, the ZX14R is a fabulous bike and is my all time dream bike. But why you shouldn't keep it ??, the bike does all great and has a nuclear engine, it ticks almost all the boxes, all you need it's a reasonable dose of self control... It's a timeless bike, an already legend, I think you will regret it if you sell it. Stop been an "only Honda" guy and keep the green monster !!
you are insane man going that fast thing is the bike looked like it was going so casually at that speed. I would say keep it for the summer and sell it next season unless there's an incredible opportunity. I could never put that much work into a bike and not ride the hell out of it for a season or two

The ZX14R is the best bike that you're going to own! What more could you ask for? A turbo kit for it!!..lol..!! (I suppose you'll have to wait till you are 63 years young, like I am, to just cruise it along the road!) Great video! I could really relate to how you feel, while riding the ZX14R! Be Safe, brother!!
Was waiting for this for a very long time
The Zed, Zed R is one sweet motorcycle and it does handle better than a bike of its size, only ever use full power and traction control one even in the rain the throttle connection is so good enjoy it will put a smile on your face.
Great stuff, very honest and accurate review. I have the same bike bought new (2017 UK version) and have no plans to change it.
Rode one of those at 300kph, tons of fun. Agree about the comfort and the ride. Only issue I found is that it's pretty long and not easy to drag around in fast twisties. Cracking sports tourer though
It's a pig for a sport bike. Considered mine a really fast tour bike.
Nice clip.Ignore negative comments and keep the bike. When it's no longer made you'll be upset.
I fell in love with this bike almost a year ago because of you !!! :)
I like the shoutout to the Patreons at the end. I like how they are all bikers too. Sweet bikes. I really like that dirt bike with street tires on it. 1st time I seen that. And I like that light blue bike and the others. All cool bikes!
This bike is one of the greatest of all time. seriously.
Lmao, he said "I got PTSD over that", about his last video not getting recorded! 🤣🤣🤣
Maaaan I hope u keep it,these bikes are so rare here in Europe.
Love all the content man. I’ve been watching your videos a lot lately just wanted to give a little shout out to ya. Got my first bike last week.
Thanks! Ride safe enjoy the bike and be careful please :)
Welcome to the club HeroRR. Enjoy.
Like you i will do the work myself
keep it it will be the BEST bike you ever had. I have had 3 of them.
This was the funniest video. He didn't mean to do it. Didn't want to do it. But he did it. 😂😂😂 I always heard people say. " I don't want that bike because It will make me go fast" never believe them until now😂😂😂😂
I love this bike, you should do more vids on it
I love my zx14r.
Love from India!!! Keep it Bro!! :)
What state is that.
@@Jason.cbr1000rr East coast of MA
I concur. I still go through he same feelings each time I jump on my 2013. None of my other bikes share this trait.
"Whew.. I'm nervous. Idk why I get so nervous getting on the thruway. Probably because I know I'm about to do something dumb." 😂 Been There 😏
When he said it belongs to the street i was dead 😂
Honestly, it's not that much more crazy than your other bikes. Could be a VFR replacement. But we say flip it and move on to another project. Really enjoyed the series. 👍
That Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R is MIGHTY!
Beautiful piece of art 🙏🏻
"I don`t have the maturity to ride this bike"😂!!!! Don`t worry, none of us do!!! She`s got that special way of casting a spell on you and you`re gonna be doing what she wants to😂
I love how Amature Mike also has a zx14r.
I also love that. Lol
No need to say sorry bro, we are always support you and like your video 😍
The Kawa beast. Love the bike!!!!!!
I have a same colour ZX12R with 4800 miles... It also has enough power.. These bikes are the last of the old school, analogue Hyperbikes
Keep this monster please, she's a beauty
Would it replace your vfr since you loved it that much? I mean i doubt that, i like your vfr more but this one looks effortlessly better looking
Had a zx14 12 years and the R for 3 years. This is one of the finest bikes ever made. It is so refined and has 200 hp.
Looks like you live in Pickup Central. We call them utes
They can cost up to $A200,000, but a base RAM costs $A80,000.
Best bike I've ever bought! 👌🏻
keep it good touring bikes that soak up the miles, 08 zx14 here in Oz
lolol....you did a great job on it. If i was living overthere and could afford to buy it off you i would have done so in a heartbeat. I will deffo watch it if you end up doing an other rebuild
The ZX-14 is Great for Highway Pulls with Your Buddies. Your 600 on the other Hand was literally designed for Track Day's.
if i were to only have 1 bike it'd probably be this , handles good at high/low speed while being comfortable and stupidly powerful , really hard to find a fault with the thing outside of self control / in the off chance you have to push it up a hill.
Put it in full power mode and traction settings two & enjoy 😁 you can also belt it off the line in them settings, wheel will come up but then it will put it back down and go like a rocket 🚀
was really waiting for this first ride video. Glad that it's just as crazy as i thought it would be.
I could never put that much work into a bike and not ride the hell out of it for a season or two
I've enjoyed this series! I vote you keep it, but only you know what's a good fit for you.
I'm so excited for this!
It has been 9 months since the first video where you bought it. Indeed babies are born in 9 months :)
Watched all the parts and was waiting for this
Fix the vibration, put a zx10 tail on it. 240 kit with 6” stretch, loud azz exhaust. And cruise it around slow on chill rides.
Keep it as a replacement for the VFR? Since you said it was better in every way and you use it for commuting.
Ya. Waiting for you to get this green dragon 🐉 on a good straight charge. Wow. Cool bike.
Great video. Keep it mate, and test yourself control.
Sell one of the others. Great thing about this bike is that it is a good All Rounder
