Another great start to my day. I think you should do an episode on Gammoth because she is the only fated four member who has yet to return in newer gen Monster Hunter and I think she can be a good edition with changes to her moveset. Also if they did bring back Nerscylla I think it would be cool if we could see a turf war between Lala Barina and Nerscylla. Also what is your opinion on returning elder dragons because I personally hope that they don’t bring back Kushala and Teostra for this game. I would love to see Gogmazios come back because I was hoping they would add him in rise after bringing back Gore and Shagaru.
@Siege066 gammoth is in the list friend. I think Kushala needs to return because of the whole weather thing in Wilds and the wind stuff that she does. She is a perfect fit. Teostra can go take a nap tho and not come back. Never fought Gogmazios.

I would propose redesigning Gypceros almost completely. I am in favour of Malfestising flying bird wyverns, which involves giving them the same wing structure as Malfestio, giving them some feathers on areas other then their new wings, and giving them broad often times shorter tails. Besides the wings Qurupeco fits perfectly. Mechanical changes bellow: Gypceros is ultimately a large bird wyvern that is bad at flying, spits poison and is supposedly extremely smart. To highlight the intelligence give it tool use, let it dig up flash stones with its beak and then break them with a chin spike. Low and high rank ones would try doing this once when their chin spike is broken but ones in master rank have learnt and know that having a broken chin results in not being able to use flash stones. It is known to get it's poison from eating insects and this justifies its diet more so then a self defence, this might be useful against hunters but not predators. It having hunter exclusive moves further highlights the intelligence of the monster. The faking dead thing simply doesn't work, most players are aware of it or would be after seeing it once which ultimately makes it a liability for Gypceros to use it. I would suggest replacing it with faking knock downs, this might actually trick people, plus it could counter ranged weapons by charging out of the knock down towards gunners/bow users. Ultimately it would lose the stretchy tail but I don't consider that an actual loss as it felt tagged on, and it can be compensated in other ways. I also don't think it being able to still does much for it, it's rank could just be lowered or it could be more aggressive either works. Plus stealing human stuff kind of detracts from its ability to make its own tools, animals that steal things are not always intelligent. The rubbery hide that is immune to shock paralysis is good, I do like that and it does not need to be changed.

Gypceros was in Generations. His tail is one of those spring door stops lol. It's also funny that nerscylla is the only reason any of us want gypceros back. The flash sucks cause it's in all directions, unlike tzi tzi yaku who does it in a cone in front of him and that AOE is shown before it triggers. I agree. The playing dead move is unique but, not only could it have been on a better monster, if you are on a quest where you only fight him it won't fool you if you pay attention when the quest ending visuals and audio don't trigger. It would have been better to introduce him in a setting where that had a more organic chance to fool you, like a multi monster quest that either could end in you fighting him first or one that forces you to before the other monster spawns. Heck. Maybe make it 2 gypceros hunt so hunters are given a false sense of security thinking that the monster must be really weak if you have to fight 2 on its debut quest. This monster bieng a swamp dweller doesn't matter, no monster in the series that has lived in the old world swamps ever used it right. The only monster that had a justification in lore for existing in the swamp was basarios and that was just because it's near the volcano so they stay there until they are old enough to withstand the volcano's heat. Now we have monsters like jyratadus and almodron that are given this swamp dwelling identity of sorts but they aren't in a swamp map. This is the only biome they've made where no one actually fits in there. I hope 6th gen fixes that but I doubt it will, since this has been an issue since gen 1 and was never fixed. The hammer from the hammer video kind of implies a new poison bird already so his niche may be filled. He may be in the next portable game and that would be fine.
YES YES YES Gypy should return!!! I absolutely love it's Anubis themed armour and absolute immunity to stun and thunder!! P;S: YES FOR NERSCYLLA TOO! 4U was so unique to me because we get firsthand experience that monsters hunt each other and even use their materials to augment themselves! Similar to what we have always been doing!! It was so awesome!!

Between all monsters in the series this is the one I look at and say " YUP YOU BATTER NOt COME BACK " He is just a failure to me in many aspects 1 design is just to random , he doesn't look like he belongs to a swmp but a creature from a Lab That got made just to Ruin people hunts And his tail is just a kezo tail for no reason but to make him more of a Chimera 2 his hunt is the worst , like I can't say how bad it is just hunt him yourself 3 there is a batter monsters with multiple abilities under the name " BASARIOS " UNLIKE GEBS HE is fun both in visuals and fight And ecologicaly too like we know why he needs all these stuff is because he needs it once he gets to the volcano to fend from strong predators But gebs , he just have it to FUCK with us Not gonna lie no matter what people say That monster should stay dead no amount of redesigning can save him
I do like bashing it with Hammer in 4U and Generations but I'm not sure about it making a comeback. The armor looks good but the weapons aren't anything impressive
This guy is one of my top bird wyverns so I'd be rather happy to see him appear in a new game. I think the tire tread motif is a neat and distinct design choice both for himself and his equipment, and the fight is solid for early game and teaches a lot of concepts fairly well too. For example, status effects, dealing with AoEs, or that breaking parts can affect monster's abilities. I know he has a lot of haters but I never really understood why. Him playing dead should only get you once or twice, after that he'll only hit you with the wakeup attack if you're simply making a poor judgement call or greeding carves, which is a fun dynamic imo. I'd honestly be okay if was even tougher to discern if he was faking or not. Many people consider poison annoying too, but all of his poison attacks are fairly easy to learn and avoid, so once you know what you're doing you can reliably hunt one without getting poisoned at all. As for the flash, there's a lot of different options for counterplay: You can dive or even roll through it with good timing, block if your weapon allows it, use the stun res skill to negate it altogether, or aim for a stagger to stop him before the flash comes out. I think part of the reason why his tail is such a good weak point in the first place is to provide a fairly consistently stagger opportunity and incentivize targeting it to cancel the flash- He even lowers it to the ground while readying a flash. Of course breaking his crest will also disable it for the remainder of the hunt! There's also his relation to nerscylla which is another great monster! I think they should continue to be a package deal in the future, at the very least gypceros should be present in the game if nerscylla is to clearly illustrate where it gets its hide from. It's a bit morbidly humorous that it steals the hide of a monster that likes to steal items itself lol. Might be worth noting that having both of them necessarily means putting two returning poison monsters in the base roster, which might be considered undesirable to some, but I think they're both good enough to warrant their presence. Overall I think he's underappreciated in the community and has an undeserved negative reputation. In the future, I'd like to see him display more of his intelligence by adapting to his crest being broken. After the first one or two failed flashes, he could realize it's not working and stop using it so he doesn't keep giving free opportunities for damage. Maybe he could get a new move or two to compensate as well, while displaying his frustration at losing his trusty flash ability. Additionally, the fact that we actually walk on dead monsters to carve them in wilds would really benefit and synergize with his fake deaths. It'd be funny to get knocked right off of him and launched into the air if you make the mistake of falling for the bait :)
Honestly I’m hoping we eventually get a game similar to generations where it’s a sort of combination game where we get a crap ton of older monsters, would be cool to see in the world style, I know it’s a big ask but would be nice
I think he should back ... In nercylla skin and thats it! Im not a fan of him, his fake death is worthless because is the most spoiled feathure of this dude, and even the game himself dont make you believe it The poison is not that bad the pukei is worst (master rank pukei running poisoning running poisoning) but i think 1 is a multi tool monster that the game didnt know how to make it work, he has flash because why not and is not the gobul or titzi that is OBVIOUS that that organs do that, the khezu tail is rubber because why not, and is just part of the first gen that was not that blessed by limitations (khezu and him in gen 2 or 3 could be so different, and they called gobul and gigginox xd)

I say yes, it should return. Gypceros has always been the "noob trap" and with the new hunting dynamic where you don't actually finish a hunt by going back to a village, the gimmick may actually fool veteran hunters now. We don't have enough trickster monsters in the main-line series.
Hot take incoming, I think Gypceros is overheated, he's a tad annoying yes but honestly I like him for the bag of tricks he is and I would like him in wilds, 1 for Nerscyla obviously but I also want a old school swamp map and Gypceros is the original swamp monster, and I genuinely do like him, werid take I know lol

Meh, this monsters ecology doesn’t really do much for me, and its design for armor doesn’t excite me either so I’m fine without it returning especially because whatever is responsible for the amazing hammer design in the weapon showcase can easily take its place imo.

@FreezeKing7 I see what you are saying but I personally never really had issues with him. I will say though there are times when he is a annoying. Can't you throw a dung mob at him tho to make him leave the area so you are left alone with the other monster ?

@FreezeKing7 gypceros was only gone for 2 generations, 3 and 5. There many other monsters who are way better than Gypceros like Qurupeco and Gigginox who never even appeared in 4th or 5th generations. Meanwhile, shitty ass Khezu has been in every generation except 3rd.
Nah gypeceros is one of those old gen monsters that is genuinely terrible. Its a pushover, the vast majority of moves just being time wasters, similar to flash raptor in world tends to spam its flash attack despite it being broken for some reason, has one of the worst armor designs period, and its play dead mechanic not fooling anyone who isnt a complete bozo as anyone even if its your first mh knows theres a musical fan fare once a target is hunted/quest complete. Him suddenly lying down "dying" without hearing the music or seeing target hunted is an immediate give away. In short this monsters sucks no.
@ghostytoasty6976 fake death would need a complete redesign where it's less obvious that he did not actually die. Right now, it's just a gimmick that doesn't do much and is easily recognized.

@FreezeKing7 I see what you are saying but I personally never really had issues with him. I will say though there are times when he is a annoying. Can't you throw a dung mob at him tho to make him leave the area so you are left alone with the other monster ?

There is a reason why he didn't return for many generations
@FreezeKing7 gypceros was only gone for 2 generations, 3 and 5. There many other monsters who are way better than Gypceros like Qurupeco and Gigginox who never even appeared in 4th or 5th generations. Meanwhile, shitty ass Khezu has been in every generation except 3rd.

Nah gypeceros is one of those old gen monsters that is genuinely terrible. Its a pushover, the vast majority of moves just being time wasters, similar to flash raptor in world tends to spam its flash attack despite it being broken for some reason, has one of the worst armor designs period, and its play dead mechanic not fooling anyone who isnt a complete bozo as anyone even if its your first mh knows theres a musical fan fare once a target is hunted/quest complete. Him suddenly lying down "dying" without hearing the music or seeing target hunted is an immediate give away. In short this monsters sucks no.

@ghostytoasty6976 fake death would need a complete redesign where it's less obvious that he did not actually die. Right now, it's just a gimmick that doesn't do much and is easily recognized.
