What about against the 49ers at Kezar Stadium in the game that decided if the 49ers or Packers would be conference champions in 1960? Hornung was covered in mud helmet to boots by the end of the game. Starr wasn't too muddy. The 49er front four hardly touched him.
Paul Hornung HOF Halfback/Quarterback/Kicker/WR Won the Heisman Trophy 🏆 in Notre Dame at Quarterback Number one overall pick by The Green Bay Packers (1957) Won the 1961 NFL MVP Led the NFL in rushing touchdowns as a halfback in 1960 3 all pro selections 4 league championships a super bowl ring and 2 pro bowls in 10 seasons
A few cuts of the Packer win in San Francisco on Dec. 10, 1960, one of the coldest and muddiest and rainiest of 49er home games. It favored the Packer running attack versus the 49er passing attack.
Really enjoyed this work ,thks alot shure seen most this stuff ,but great presentation ! Paul's blocking always caught my eye . Saw no.5 at Jerry Kramer's HOF {finally} on the tube . Music was sit-up and take notice .RIP Mr. Hornung and so many others. Your Mother Was great ! Please one on Johnny U , I Would be grateful , but also if not , alot of work . No.19 was the one for me . Anyway thks .
I saw an article that said Hornung didn't deserve to be in the Hall of Fame 'cause he didn't gain enough yardage running or have a big rushing year. Gee, he held the single season scoring record for years. He was a GREAT blocking back for the first guy to ever gain 1,000 yards a year for five straight years (Jim Brown never did it). So, he was a running back, successful place kicker, and great blocking back. Huh. So, according to that guy, running yards are the only thing that matters.
OK, so thank you strange voodoo tv!!! I'm a ND fan who was looking to learn more about one of it's "FAMED" players of yesteryear. And thanks to this video I did. I appreciate your hard work and time!
Hey, John! Awesome! You are most welcome. I'm happy you were able to find what you were looking for. Paul was special at all levels, but especially in college. I appreciate your words and viewership! Have a great one, Bud.

When I first started watching football in the early 1960's, I could not believe seeing Hornung, run the ball, throw the halfback-option pass, catch passes, block, run back kicks, punt, and kick extra points and field goals!
@@garymorris1856Because those millennial detractors only look at stats and don’t take into account how much rule changes have made it easier for offenses to score - there are seriously bozos that think Romo is better than Staubach or Russell Wilson is better than Elway
Versatile but not a "great" running back. With Taylor at full and the best guard duo in history the "Golden Boy" had little to worry about. I'll take Bobby Mitchell any day over this guy.
Paul Hourning was such a impact player on the field but impact player with the females too he won the Heisman Trophy at Notre Dame and a hall of famer in the NFL with Green Bay Packers
This, this is spectacular. Everything I hoped for. Great work!

He was the most important player on the strongest dynasty of all time.
Watching Hornung score in the mud against my Browns in the '65 title game, I still shake
my head in disbelief.

The Original Swiss Army Knife. Great music & beat hits! 🔥🏉🔥
My all-time favorite player.

People don't realize that the Packers ran like three horse running backs their whole reign as champions
The one and only golden boy. One of a kind.

I have heard detractors say that Hornung does not belong in the Hall of Fame, I suggest they watch his highlights.

Ayy, thank you, Bud! I appreciate that. Glad you enjoyed it.
So he was basically the CMC/ Barkley/ Tomlinson of the 60's. But w/ championships. And also he could pass and kick.
Got it.
Hornung was going to go to Kentucky and play for some guy named Paul Bryant. But Hornung's mom persuaded him to go to ND because they were Catholic.
