Yes!! A camp mode, and also a pet mode for when you leave your dog in the car while getting things done. Tesla has this, I’m surprised no other manufacturers have used the tech in their vehicles to make life easier in this manner.
Rivian has. In fact, the Rivian camp mode give you extra controls over camp mode like customizing which lights come on, the noises it makes and the screen can shut off. They actually went a step above and also added a self leveling feature which flattens the vehicle taking advantage of their air suspension. Rivian also provide you with a wrist band key. That makes sure you have full access to your vehicle even if your phone dies or you loose it doing your outdoor activities.

I think if this thing sells well enough a camper version (Westfalia) will be around the corner. It would definitely be a missed opportunity if VW doesn’t do this.

I think you can put it in "N" neutral + emergency brake and get the AC working normally. That's how Bjorn did it in his video.
For getting the AC to work whole night? Sound like an odd combination. 🙂
N + Emergency Break. Used to do that when camping in my Tesla MS before we got the camp mode. Worked well. Only thing was that the DRL was on all night, but just cover the light up with some blankets. But VW should really let you open your car from the app... Doesn't make any sense not to have that option.
@@maestroRodskjaer thanks! The app really needs some love and more functions. And if you forget to push online att the startup message in the car you can't connect to it later with the app. I get the privacy thinking here but still a bit annoying.
Another fail from VW.
There should be a simple option to select camp mode for when parked up for a snooze or sleeping overnight.

I have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee Limited that will not allow the doors to lock when no one is in the interior. Maybe the bricks were the reason for the lockout.

I assume the key was in the car when you were locked.
Does the Buzz not offer a keyless feature based on proximity of the key to the car?
Thus as long as the key was nearby, the doors could still be opened.
A bit scary if there was a baby or a dog in the car at the time you closed it.
Yes proximity functionality is there but still locked me out.
What's the frame/board, you put the mattress on? Something you acquired yourself, or came with the car?
That came with the car. May be extra equipment depending on the trim.
Is the 300w accessory outlet always live? you could run a 200-250w heater safely if it is....
No, not by default. Not sure but think you need to activate some kind of utility mode to keep it running

My Prius V (2012) screams at me (long beep) if I try to lock the doors with the keys inside. I accidentally try to lock myself out fairly often. Sort of disappointing that the Buzz doesn't have this function.
Think it has to do with the ignition.
Even my 11 year old jag doesn’t allow the car to be locked when the key is inside

VW must be thrilled to hear how you explain how to break in in their van... And so also all the ID-Buzz owners.
But I must also say that it seems dumb to me that you can lock yourself out, when the key is still inside. In my Toyota Corolla hybrid that's not possible.
You do it the same way on all cars. Nothing unique for vw. It's regulated by law that it must be possible to open doors that way for sucurity reasons.

Not that I know of. Testing the new ID4 now with the latest software. No camp mode

I believe the ID.Buzz now has the feature that the id.4 has where it'll keep the ac if you click the "immediate climate control" button after turning it off

Dangerous. Forget the key in the mid console. Go out through the door to go around to bring out your kid. Car locked. And then the AC turns off. In the summer it would be deadly.

i was eying evs for campervans for a long time as it gets rid of a huuuuuuuge problem alltogether...batteries
with them you can cover aleverything heating cooling cooking entertainment etc.
only problem is they are soo amazingly expensive!! more than 60000 for a vw minibus are you kidding?
VW should name it stone mode for camping and develop an app to control the door 😂

No you didn't miss it, since I f*up and locked myself out I wasn't able to measure the cabin temp. Sorry! 😢
I could not sleep at 20deg C. It has to be 18 or less, at least in winter, for me, 16 is ideal... does the heat pump turn down lower and if so, how far?
@gottenhimfella221 16° C possible to set. Lower than that it says low, not sure if that 15° or of it blasts as cold as possible..

Imo can blame the car since it was locked until you opened aka unlocked door so why car relocked itself.
Weird design choice especially since breaking in was that easy. Compare: On a Transporter if you lock the doors pulling the indoor handle does nothing.
Maybe you are right. But the difference here was that I had the ignition on. Maybe that vmcreares a different behavior

Works on all cars and is more of less the official way to do when key is locked in. The real theft protection is the alarm and imobilizer.
Compare the cutaways of a 1970 and this one. They have removed so much interior space by seating the driver so much further back.
This is a failure for VW at a time when they needed a win. 80k? No.
I guess it's due to heat pumps etc, but also for added safety with a longer crumple zone?

@@ItsOnlyElectric the corgi version I assume would be rather bare bones like a Mercedes or Ford cargo van. I would still want a regular VW Van but when I would go do something like what you are doing I would just remove all the seats prior to leaving on a trip.
