Can you sleep in a VW ID Buzz?

- Today is just a quick video to see if you can sleep in a VW ID Buzz! I get my inflatable double mattress and double sleeping bag and give it a try. While not perfect -- the ID Buzz isn't marketed as a campervan -- it's certainly doable.
Let me know what you think in the comments. Would you sleep in a VW ID Buzz overnight? Are you thinking of buying an ID Buzz to have a few cheap sleepovers somewhere?
Thanks for watching! California Chris.

There's Chris, sleeping on the job again!
Looks cool. The only thing is that if you sleep you have to move the luggage to the front seats. I can imagine sleeping in an ID Buzz for a weekend, but not for a longer period of time. However the advantage over a real camper is that this car can fit in park garages and is easily to drive around with.
Definitely. I've seen a few conversions already with pop top roofs to make things easier. And there was the video on my channel of the Buzz with the tent pod. Seems like it'll be a popular camper of VW make their own version.
Fully flatbed. To get this quality of sleep on an airplane, it would be a business class experience. And that's good enough for me.
I have a 2022 t6.1 lwb kombi camper with a queen size 40 winks bed set up in the rear .I can keep my bed out all year round and have so much spare space under the bed ,plus I still have access to the 5 remaining seats in the van .
Spotted this vehicle in our local supermarket in Denny, spoke to the owner. I'd buy it.
When I had a Passat estate I slept in that, even on campsites where all the luggage went in a tent. The car was more comfortable.
This looks too small to do a California Ocean but it should be feasible for a Beach. There is already a very interesting ID Buzz camper by German converter Alpin Camper which was presented at CMT Stuttgart.
I honestly just do not see this thing coming close to any of the standard cali models. It is inferior in every way. I will certainly not be trading my coast in for one. Great video as always mate, Thanks
It's worth noting that this model is not intended to replace the California models in any way. This was just a bit of fun for those looking at buying one :).
Love this video Chris, need to get one on order.
nice when waiting to recharge
Looks good, I’ve slept in a lot worse 😂
Is the Buzz able to generate AC heat via battery during cold weather? Something like camping mode?
No..sadly not
If you put some weight on the driver's seat and close the seat belt it will stay on
@@pascaleins4586😁😁🙈
How can you sleep in the short version with two seaters?
Handy you can sleep while your waiting to charge.
*you're - it's a contraction of you and are.
Perfect demo on why the ID will never be a replacement for a proper Cali. Hence the reality of building on the new transporter base with Ford rather than the Buzz dreamers.
It's worth noting that the Buzz isn't intended to replace any California models. This was just a bit of fun. I'm excited to see what the next California models look like with this in mind though.
Is the Cali electric?
They are making an id California after 2025
And yet the new Cali is on the T7 multivan and not the Ford
@@POTThaesslich true. Comment not aged well. Not built on a ID base though either and still too small.
Where can you buy the boot levelling panels?
I like to travel east coast ,how do i charge up and where if there is a line up to charge these vans ?They should make a gas one like 4 cyl econo for families ,below 30 k ....
Hi Chris, We have just gone to purchase the "multiflex board" but got told that they come in two different boards, the smaller one that lifts and the larger one at the back - is that right? The whole thing ends up being £££'s
1:49 it is amazing feature that partial shelf completely disappears when not in use! :)
seriously, all car manufacturers must reserve a space to store partial shelf.
Is it really $60,000+?
How to switch off the alarm? It automatically switches on after a while when you close the doors...
Bed length? Did I miss it?
he didn't seem to mention his height either? or did i miss that
200 by 130 cm
You can have a nap while it charges, just hope it doesn’t catch fire while you sleep, lol.
I have a 1st edition Buzz I'm told the multi board wont fit as the floor has not been drilled for it?! Have you found this and can it be overcome?
Did you find out your answer? We have just gone to purchase the "multiflex board" but got told that they come in two different boards, the smaller one that lifts and the larger one at the back - is that right?
Yes that’s right.
I did get a multiflex board and because mine didn’t have the holes for the screws, I got it drilled by someone who knew where they are supposed to go.
I would say though that if you don’t have the floor it’s designed for then the U shaped legs of the VW board are not stable on the floor which is slightly padded. Thus they rock. If you planned to sleep in it you would be better off with an aftermarket board such as those from IDkamper. I got their single drawer unit which is a game changer in terms of utility and practicality. I’d also recommend their mattress it’s very comfortable. 😊
@@Flyingtwigletoh brilliant. Don’t suppose you know which one from the that place do you? I’ve already ordered one and it was wrong and I’m suppose to go away this weekend with my toddler 😫
Does the camp mode or any air circulation available? Because in my ID4 I woke up every 2 hours lacking of the air without camp mode the ventilation switch off after 30 minutes usually….(
That's the downside of this being a car Vs a camper, unfortunately.
QUQUQ box for the ID Buzz ?
Don't know about QUQUQ, but I know Slidepod are working on one for sure.
Could a pop up top be fitted ?
Theoretically, yes.
@@CaliforniaChris 🙌🙌
Obviously
did you mention your height?
Lots of cheap plastic, high electricity consumption, lots of software problems and way too expensive. Nein danke!
Use a hammock
Inside the vehicle or outside 😂
@@CaliforniaChris inside, are you mad ?
Aim windscreen at the sunrise and wake to the new day 😱
👌👌👌🇹🇷🇹🇷
shame they dont havvve a petrol or diesel they would have sold millions
For the price of a two tone ID Buzz at £60k, you could stay in an average £100 per night Hotel for
11 1/2 years constantly lol.
OR…you could pay your Electric bill and Gas bill, and still have change to go towards a loaf of Mothers Pride😀
But then you need to factor in the cost of an alternative vehicle to transport you to said hotel. I don't think people by these just to avoid hotel room rates, they can offer the flexibility of staying somewhere where there are no hotels, but then again could always use a tent.
You didn't factor the calculation of inflation !
My arithmetic gets the cost of the hotel to £420k for 11.5 years ;-)
Sadly the whippets are often charged extra in a hotel. I had an ancient escort estate as a student that you could sleep in (if drunk enough!) now I have a caddy and the whippets keep me warm enough.
Only vehicle I’d consider sleeping in is a diesel. All other options are incendiary devices.
