Love the van. We have downsized from our 6 berth motorhome to a vw T5 but we tow a caravan when we want it. This combination suits us well for many of the reasons you mention. Its great for overnighters and days out but when we go for longer we take the caravan. Best of both!!👍
I'm waiting for electric motorhomes to come on the market! I towed my caravan with my Model Y for the first time last weekend. It blew my mind. Just effortless. And the caravan helped with the re-gen when going down hill!
We have an all electric Vivaro campervan partly converted by TC Conversions after our original converters went into liquidation. Can’t recommend them highly enough - they are brilliant. Loving our all electric campervan and the range is over 200 miles.
We had a T6 campervan/day van and absolutely loved it. Just a little too small for us, but as a spacious every day car it was amazing. Love the buzz but just don’t have a need for one anymore. Great vlog as always👏👏👏
Very nice! Eagerly waiting for these ID BUZzes to arrive in North America. Question: does the ID Buzz have a 'camp mode' or utility mode that allows the heat or AC to run while someone is sleeping in the van? Thanks!
Lovely van , really is but you always talk and show us what many many people cant afford I think yes they hold their price but for people like myself couldn’t possibly afford even a used vw, its just the badge you pay for in my opinion , theres other vans to buy which are just as nice for a much more affordable price Good video for those that can afford it
@BobSmith-s7j I’m afraid most electric Campervan’s aren’t that cheap as they’re still fairly new. I’m time prices will come down on these and they will be more affordable. At the moment the cheapest ID Buzz is 29k plus VAT, and a good conversion like the one that Knights did for us is around 27k, so just over £60k for the van and an amazing conversion.
Great video guys , we or should I say I did my ideal date was :nothing to do with van life .I took my wife to see Elton John [2nd row in Birmingham ] many many years ago .result she was blown away
We had a t6 4 years ago, i think these vans make great day vans but just not comfortable for over night (everyone is different) but would never swap my motorhome and go that small again. Great video both x
@Roaming Radfords yes great for that! We used it more for days, mainly because of the lack of toilet and washing facilities. Perfect for having as an aditional van! When the kids were young it was fairly easy but as they got into their teens 1) they didn’t want to come and 2) we needed bigger space so we opted for fly drive holidays in the USA. But now we really do fancy an I buzz as they look really cool. Would prefer a circa 280 mile battery but mileage does depend on weight carried and how you drive it! I don’t think having the in built kitchen is worth it. The space to sleep is much more valuable.

Yes all the boys are cute , and George is a right little character, and you know I’ve noticed this this growing spurt of his he is changing from a chuchee baby face , to more a boys face . I’m sure his overall bubbly character still remains.

Great idea having as a Buzz as your second car. Will suit your adventureous family. Loads of day trips to the beach. Pity the Westafalia Kelsey is not fully electric, that version has a proper loo. You would love it 😊
Sorry both, not convinced, as an ex T6 owner, that bed isn’t big enough, and the range for us, who love to do Switzerland, that far to many recharges. But for you as a run about, the boys will love it.

Difficult to write comments on this. It all comes down very much to personal preferences. ICE will be going so options have to be made. I very much feel that all governments should have taken action on this years back instead of now trying to come up with answers quickly. One thing that I hear very little about is "What happens if you have a prang" Answer. There are limited engineers out there trained to repair electric vehicles. Its worth asking the question Steve. My brother had to wait months for a simple small dent to be repaired. As for this particular van. Great idea. Nice van. To test properly you really do need to go long distance. Set an area you wish to visit and then see how you fair on charging points. Sitting on a motorway service area waiting for a point to become available is not the same as filling up with a tank of fuel in minutes. My own opinion is that unless you can come up with a "go to a service station and have the batteries changed" this will not work. And one company is now working on this. Going back to the camper. If you like camper vans this could be worth checking out. For me,no, but I am no fan of campers. We have been motorvanning for 35+ years and even our first vehicle was a high top so for me no go. And now with severe Rheumatoid Arthritis it has to be full height. One thing I didn't like at all is having to go round the back to pull the bed down. Not too clever in rain. Good video though.
Nice van and I’m with you on the kitchen, that is a great idea. I used to love going to local sites when I first started caravanning and was nervous to tow.
Interesting video--and excellent presentation, as usual, from you both. I am astounded that you have had 15 electric vehicles in 7 to 8 years. That must have cost you a fortune (even though some have been for the business).

Absolutely love my Smart EQ that I use for work, so would love a VW ID Buzz for everyday family life. Best looking vehicle on the road at the moment. Having an all electric dayvan with great range would be the icing on the cake.
Make my own sourdough. Once you have the starter up and running it's really very easy. Don't think it would bake well in a caravan/motorhome gas oven, but you get an okish result with a ninja.
In the USA, there is (as of a few weeks ago) at LEAST a two year wait to take delivery of the VW ID Buzz Bus. And a fully equipped model will set you back roughly $80,000 in US Currency, roughly $92,000 Canadian. Now if only somebody has plans to do a boxer engine swap🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

Currently on holiday in Denmark with a Mercedes EQV from Tonke. Long range +400km with lots of space. The Tonke Buzz will arrive soon. Curious about space inside. Nice video!
Enjoyed the video - the ID Buzz looks pleasing to folks that have no children as too small otherwise . Would it be possible when you review sites that you also include any disabled facilities as every video I have seen so far doesn’t really include those - I know it’s not relevant to you guys being the health dynamic duo you are, but for myself and loads of others that are physically challenged and enjoying their MH I would love that to be added. 😊
We will definitely try be more intentional about covering disabled facilities. Hopefully we won’t make too many faux pas due to this not being our area of expertise!
@@RoamingRadfords thank you folks as I know you already cover so much for everyone- that would really help as always looking for good inclusive sites 😃
Could you still use the induction hob/habitation electrics whilst it is charging? Would make the stops at services that little bit cheaper than buying coffee/cake from the services.
You never mentioned the weight and the pay load. What would be the range in winter with lights heater and wipers on in the cold conditions fully loaded with normal gear.
Our video isn’t a comprehensive review, and as we just borrowed it for a day in the summer we can’t give you all that information but there’s plenty of videos reviewing the ID Buzz that will give you more technical info or just use the link in the description to the manufacturer’s website where you’ll find some of your answers.
Can you get Solar on top with lithium batteries and inverters to charge the car off road? I think I have to wait for June until 2024 to get one in the United States.
I’d definitely consider one but Madam’s minimum requirement is a toilet and shower, so that excludes it for us. And you didn’t mention if there’s a swivelling front seat option. If we were going for an electric campervan, I’d be looking at a Fiat Ducato or similar 5.4m van if/when someone does one and hoping for a range of 350-400km (220-250 miles). I wouldn’t want to park a 6.4m Ducato in a charging bay. Too long. Where are people going to charge 7m electric motorhomes?
I have a T6,1 camper which i use as my run around as well as camping solo. Short sighted maybe I love cooking on gas but could get use to an electric hob if it was part of this package. About the same size as my SWB but defo better option for everyday use. Solar panels??? PS hope to see you at Vanlife fest next week.
I think people questioning the price are missing the point. It’s all about accessibility with these vans and they’ll hold their value better than most cars on the road. 7 year old Californias are still selling for £45k!, that’s incredible. These will be the same I’m sure, fit for purpose and a great investment.
Agree old ones are accessable. But only 3 hours travel time is not accessable and you can't recharge onsite, it trips the hookup. Buy a 7 year old one until the infrastructure is in place for it to be accessable 🙏
Will they hold their value in seven years time? With most batteries only being guaranteed for 8 years what will the cost of a replacement battery be,great if you are well off because you will swop it out earlier and give the problem to somebody else.
@@RoamingRadfords yes for sure they need to do something about that it's definitely a consideration for buying any electric car especially for that kind of money
The thing some people don’t understand about driving an EV (range anxiety is only down to bad planning 😂) is how relaxing it is, yes they are more expensive but until motor manufacturers truly get to the point where they are mass producing EV’s and the retail price flattens out nothing will change unfortunately
Enjoyed the video , that is a great conversion although I still have a big but with the range of an electric campervan . Do you know what type of usage gives that 200 miles Steve please ? I travel a lot in Wales specifically Snowdonia and it would be interesting to know what impact mountain roads have on the range of the van ( especially since charging facilities are VERY few and far between). Maybe if you do purchase a Buzz you could do a test drive into Wales for me 😉.
As a family of tossing and turners we definitely think that bed would be too narrow. I saw someone driving one of these last week. Initially i liked the look but wasnt too keen on the front. Pretty cool idea with the kitchen available on the outside. Could see that being useful. Do you have any big trips coming up soon? Worked through nearly all of your "big trip" videos and love watching them on an evening in our mh.
The idea of cooking where you sleep, doesn't strike me as ideal. I'd rather have a portable kitchen that i can use outside, or at least that's what I'm aiming for
Just too small with no captain chair with one induction hob ,no hot water no storage would of liked to see you actually use it ie overnight etc but agree it looks funky but only for day trips out
Excellent video! How many miles do you get per charge with your Tesla’s. I’d like one but also hoping to purchase a caravan, so not sure if a Tesla would be suitable for towing one 🤔
Soz but you didn't actually go anywhere.... Probably a good reason. 200miles!!! Totally impractical for most....embrace the freedom! Lol Nice little provo vid
Love the idea of being able to drop out the stove top through the sliding door and cook outside what a great idea
What was actually mileage on a full charge?

@@RoamingRadfords shame it doesn't do both. Xx stay safe xx
I think people questioning the price are missing the point. It’s all about accessibility with these vans and they’ll hold their value better than most cars on the road. 7 year old Californias are still selling for £45k!, that’s incredible. These will be the same I’m sure, fit for purpose and a great investment.
Bang on Matty!
😊it's Best dun in a airfryer.
Oooh!
You are going to have to leave George at home 🏡 🤷♀️🤣
Great Van.... I've got a Mustang Mach-E and the electric experience is great! How long does she take to charge?
It’ll be fairly similar figures to your Mach E Ian
gooid fir ut
Can I check? You did say 200 mile range? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Over 200 miles real world range, good luck with that one!
We get it in our cars, not sure why you think it wouldn’t apply to this!
1980 cañes kees rañfe
1980 cars had way less rabfe theb 200 mikñdß
nice video , but still like bigger models
A longer wheel base is coming!
buy winabbego cjasß a ev rv
Nice Video!! Wish it would get a thousand miles to the charge !! . I need to be playing Born to Be Wild
That would be nice x
@@RoamingRadfords yes for sure they need to do something about that it's definitely a consideration for buying any electric car especially for that kind of money
The thing some people don’t understand about driving an EV (range anxiety is only down to bad planning 😂) is how relaxing it is, yes they are more expensive but until motor manufacturers truly get to the point where they are mass producing EV’s and the retail price flattens out nothing will change unfortunately
So right Stuart!
Basically you're saying it's not suitable for people who are a bit stupid. 😂
@@WayneMan88 😂😂👌🏻
Now now gentlemen 🤦🏼♀️🤣
Enjoyed the video , that is a great conversion although I still have a big but with the range of an electric campervan . Do you know what type of usage gives that 200 miles Steve please ? I travel a lot in Wales specifically Snowdonia and it would be interesting to know what impact mountain roads have on the range of the van ( especially since charging facilities are VERY few and far between). Maybe if you do purchase a Buzz you could do a test drive into Wales for me 😉.
I have watched other videos on the ID Buzz and the range is more like a 130 miles, not as specified.
I've nothing against electric cars but i do wonder how we'll dispose of all the batteries
Recycle them. Old Tesla Batteries are already being used in different settings, for eg, storing home energy.
I've just heard Tesla want bring out a day van too I don't know if it's true or not
We’d love that!
Pretty cool van. Where do you get all your great leggings
Thanks Pamela, you’ll find a link to them from our website here www.roamingradfords.com/our-merch.html#/
loved the outside kitchen!! But I really wonder if you want to make a lot of km"s, you want to switch to electric...
Maybe, time will tell!
👍👍😊
😘😘😘
As a family of tossing and turners we definitely think that bed would be too narrow.
I saw someone driving one of these last week. Initially i liked the look but wasnt too keen on the front.
Pretty cool idea with the kitchen available on the outside. Could see that being useful.
Do you have any big trips coming up soon? Worked through nearly all of your "big trip" videos and love watching them on an evening in our mh.
Morocco this summer!!!
The idea of cooking where you sleep, doesn't strike me as ideal. I'd rather have a portable kitchen that i can use outside, or at least that's what I'm aiming for
That’s great in the summer, but not ideal during the winter months, especially with the UK weather
Just too small with no captain chair with one induction hob ,no hot water no storage would of liked to see you actually use it ie overnight etc but agree it looks funky but only for day trips out
Captain chair would be a great addition!
Not for me yet. Will wait on the next nth generations and batteries that come anywhere close to be useable!!
This battery is very useable, but you are right. The technology will only improve over time x
If you dont have the kitchen then the sleeping area is bigger
There are several configuration options x
Excellent video! How many miles do you get per charge with your Tesla’s. I’d like one but also hoping to purchase a caravan, so not sure if a Tesla would be suitable for towing one 🤔
Further down the commments someone has discussed his love of his Model Y towing!
Soz but you didn't actually go anywhere....
Probably a good reason.
200miles!!!
Totally impractical for most....embrace the freedom! Lol
Nice little provo vid
i am afraid it isn't my cup of tea too small .

Where is the toilet? Why build a big kitchen that you don’t absolutely need, the toilet is needed many times each day.
