    Wow starts at 68,470 in Ireland,
    Trim with matrix headlights costs over 73,000 they can keep their buzz and buzz off with those prices
    Even my high spec id3 tour 5 can’t be got any more have to get a stripped down version of the tour 4 seater and if you add up the cost of the spec I have in my t5 it would cost around 15,000 more than what I paid back in 2021.

    @RSymons RSEV I agree with you that the adaptive cruise control works extremely well. However, if you’ve got the automatic speed limit detection active, it can be quite a pain. I drive an ID3 in France at the system gets massively confused with speed limit signs here. On many occasions it decides the speed limit should be 130km/h in one of the La Défense area tunnels and actually starts accelerating hard when the actual speed limit is 70 km/h. Other times it brakes hard when it suddenly thinks that the speed limit should be 50km/h on a 100km/h motorway. All in all, its a good system, but the speed limit recognition software needs to be improved.

    VW should have an optional solar panel and inverter pack designed for install into the roof. The design should be aero dynamic. With such large real estate you should be able to add 2-5kwh of charging on a sunny day. It should pay for itself in fuel savings over several yrs.

    I looked at getting the ID Buzz last November. At that time the dealer was telling me it would be 12 to 18 months waiting list...!! So I cancelled and went to Ford. However the E-Transit struggles to do 120 miles in the real world...!! Clearly the ID Buzz has much better range... Just a shame that VW are deliberately throttling the BEVs to less than 10% of their ICE output.

      Yeah, EV vans are great for light-load, low-ish mileage applications at the moment, but these are really Gen-01 as practical vans. This will only ever get better & better. If you generate your own power from the roof, well that offsets the increased purchase price, plus, almost zero servicing, maintenance, & replacement parts costs, not to mention almost zero down-time and massive longevity? Goodbye replacement clutches, brakes, oil changes etc. However, our work-gang vans usually carry 90% full capacity loads, and often haul trailers with mini-diggers for jobs with a 200 mile return day-trip, so EV is not going to do it. But our light vans & passenger vehicles are now, maybe, 80% EV?

    I grew up in VW vans. My dad had 3 microbuses, not the Vanagon. Two fullwidth benchbseats in back. Could seat 8 kids plus mom & dad in front. Left a LOT of square space behind back seat.

    Nice video - Cancel..! Cancel..! Warts and all..! 😋Funnily enough, I did that as well, in my ID3, and it was my first day of ownership, trying to reach the front of the windscreen. I was wearing a cricket type cap at the time.
    2 things - 1, why does a previous owner give up on a brand new van after 5000 miles, after obviously committing to it [extra bits fitted]? And 2, there's an awful lot of vehicle that isn't load carrying space. About 50/50 split [just look at the side view in the video]. That really doesn't cut it commercially. For comparison, an E-Transit is more like a [front to rear] 30/70 split. And the Transit is way bigger at a similar price [spec depending]. Yes, I know the Transit [and others] is a much more "serious" van. But running costs is what it's all about, isn't it? That said, the ID Buzz is about a cute as a van can get, so I'm sure it'll get sales in boutique markets. Perhaps we need the long wheelbase version in the UK.

  • @effervescence5664
    @effervescence5664 2 месяца назад

    The biggest issue with the Buzz is it's a replacement for the Caddy, not the Transporter. Which is about right when it's carrying half the load in weight and only 2 thirds in volume.
    Buzz/ Transporter 6.1;
    Load weight 600kg/1200kg.
    Load Volume 4 cubic meters/ 6 cubic meters.
    200 mile range/ 500 mile range.

    23 pounds will translate closer to 30 pounds in real world because a 77kwh battery will not consume only 77kwh from the mains to charge, but closer to 90kwh due to conversion/charging loss. So 30 pounds for 200 miles, 60 pounds for 400 miles, at home(best charging rate). How is this compared with a ICE van that can travel 400+ miles on one full tank?

    • @RDowson

    According to EV database, the winter range on a motorway is 145 miles, now take off 15 miles to cope with unreliable and not working rapid chargers and you are down to 130 miles unloaded. That is when it is brand new and everybody should know that lithium battery capacity and range reduces from day one with time and use cycles.
    This is why nobody wants electric vehicles and why people who already have them are finding that their investment is reducing at a vastly greater rate than if they had bought ice.

    I’m a T5.1 owner and the buzz to me is butt ugly and will never be a satisfactory replacement. T4s are so much better looking and the buzz does not visually echo a vintage splitty. It does look like a Fisher Price toy though. 😂

    Sorry £50k! crazy money for a van, make it £30k and that would be OK

    Love my Buzz 👍.
    We’ll done on not slagging off the software like all the lazy jurnos do. I have an ID3 and a Buzz and software is not bad at all.

    A van with a bulkhead, panel sides but a glass back door? That's very odd

      Not really? - that's exactly that setup with my current Ford Transit Custom - it was the most common setup for all the vans at the Ford dealer at the time I purchased mine. All Transit Customs come with glass barn doors at the rear and the bulkhead by default at least they do in Australia, when I picked up mine 90% had 1 or 2 panel sliders with a glass slider being rare.
