Thank you brotha! Ur 9 volt battery method to clean fully the Vanos SOLVED my annoying hesitant/jerking on my F10 BMW M-Sport at idle! I was blaming my ignition coils but the knocking or rattling noise coming from the engine knew it was something else like timing unbalanced. Cleaned both Vanos with ur method and my issues are gone! Car idles soo smooth like new, it's quieter and NO MORE SHAKING!

Its a MUST to clean all ur Vanos when you replace ur serpentine and tensioner belt and pulleys!
Cleaning the vanos cured my annoying jerking and unbalanced timing while idling at a stand still. My car warms faster, its very silent and i got full power! No more jerking or shaking at idle when starting my bmw f10 and finally SOLVED my issue. Idles soo smooth and clean!
How to cleaned both Vanos. I used 2 wires red & black with small alligator grips and attached them on a 9 Volt battery and hooked them up on both Vanos connection poles. This method while giving power to the Vanos allows it to open and close. This is where you begin to clean the vanos in all hole opening as well as the inside with either a Map Sensor cleaner or a Electronic contact cleaner which cost cheaper. This cleans the Vanos soo clean that it revives them like brand new.
Ur bmw will idle smoothly and sound more silent idling perfect because it now adjusts the timing as it was design when new and becomes well balanced in ignition firing! I was blaming my old ignition coils but the problem was the dirty Vanos!
Clean them, its a must! Just a 10mm socket to remove them...

    It happened to me.
My n46b20 went into limp mode.
    Half engine light came on.
    Crawled home.
An hour or so later, when the car/engine cooled down got normal power, but light remained on.
OBD scan gave me code p1050 p1062.
I would drive normal but then suddenly go back into limp mode.
I notice car going into limp mode frequently when I would test/slam the brakes.
After looking into this, I figured it was the solenoids.
    Easy DIY.
I gave the vanos solenoids a good clean, kept them soaked in persil powder for a night lol.
Gave it a good wash and put them back in and that's when it started shaking like the video.
Rpm would go up and then down and engine would cut off. Would need to keep revving while driving to keep car on.
I took nuts back off and tried to make sure solenoids were pushed in properly.
    Still not luck.
I then swapped the solenoids over and YES oh YES!!!!!!
It started smooth, NICE, oh YES!
I took it everywhere up and down dual carriage ways, even up and down M5 J1 to J2.
But I did notice my automatic went upto 4000 - 5000 rpm to change gear.
After driving for over a hour, slammed the brakes and half engine light came back on, went back into limp mode.
I need to check valvetronic systems
    Valvetronic motor
    Cam sensor
    Rocket cover gasket
    Eccentric shaft sensor
Problem may have been caused by an oil leak so look under the bonnet and find the leak blocking up the sensor and change oil and oil filter.
ITS ON MY LIST OF THINGS TO DO

    • @comlay90
      @comlay90 5 лет назад +3

Its a relatively easy job so why not try that first. Also a good idea to swap it with the exhaust solenoid to see if you then get 2A87 code for the exhaust side. Then you will know for sure if its an issue with that particular solenoid or not. Also look up how to removed and clean out the non-return Vanos filters on the side of the block.
