@george40nelson4 They don't use "sub par" materials. The eccentric shaft sensor is made by Siemens which is a very reputable electronics manufacturer in europe. A lot of other parts are either bosch. I've had VERY rough idle which after I turn my car on and off a few times goes away, however it returns later. Scanner also throws multiple cylinder misfires 1-6. I recently noticed that when I disconnect the Valvetronic motor it runs smoothly. Could this sensor be the culprit? UPDATE: I got it fixed. Turned out to be a bad VANOS solenoid (exhaust). I removed the part and it was stuck, I cleaned it really good and got it working again but a few miles later it started happening again, I bought a new part, installed it and now my car is running smooth. My theory is that that Solenoid would sometimes get stuck and would get unstuck after a few start ups and this is why the car would sometimes run smooth and sometimes not. Hope this info helps.

Good video, tho to point out.. the valvetronic system is in charge of adjusting valve lift, Not advancing timing (vanos solenoids are in charge of that). The eccentric shaft sensor monitors how much the valve is lifted and if not operating correctly will cause all these issues you've pointed out. Keep up the good work 👍

Hi, i just bought a BMW E90 325i (n53). In low revs at low speed and especially in second gear, I can hear a whining/ jet sound when accelerating. In higher revs (above 4-5k) in second gears it disappears and in third, fourth, fifth and sixth gear it disappears. Is this normal or is something probably wrong and if so, what is wrong ? Thanks
I know this is random, but I have no one else to ask. I love your videos and thought you might have the answer I need a new subframe for my 2005 bmw e53 x5 4.8is . Dose The 4.4is front subframe fit the 4.8is
so we just remove this plug and but anything else ? so i have bmw x5 n52 engine. it aint a lot shake during the engine start however some times has shaking actually during the engine start.
i have an issue with my idling on my n52 motor. it is smooth except for random “hiccups” where it shakes the car every once and a while. would this be the problem?
2006 330i N52 NA version here. I'm halfway through taking apart the cover and noticed oil in this too. I've got the dreaded 2a87 code and am going to look at the camshaft bearing ledges. Do you think this would cause that code also? Thx for the tutorial
Would this be on an M47 2.0 diesel lump on an e90 07plate? Mines never idled spot on from brand new and I had to have a new sump gasket under warranty at 600miles and a new turbo at just 50k! And hadn't been ragged either.. so I'm not sure why it's never idled smooth and it's not all the time just now and again the rev counter blips up and down really quick then ok then few seconds later same again. Obviously it's silly low mileage had it from new always serviced before the mileage up and only on 57k now!
I am looking to buy a bmw (not brand new) what should i look for and what would you suggest me? Also I’m looking at 2012 bmw 750’s. Please guide me. Thanks doc
I really hope you didn’t say that oil will destroy the eccentric shaft. There’s constantly oil on it, it has to have oil between the lobes and rollers or it would destroy itself.

Then it just decided not to start at all with the ESS unplugged what does that mean and I replaced it with a new ESS still doesn't run with it plugged in or unplugged and there are no codes except for when I have it unplugged
May God bless you and family sir, and I pray may God give good health to you and your family Amin.
thank you for the tip mate, what about the f20 2016 model?
It work for the x3?
Does this comes with 2850 and 2852 fault code on N42B20 once it fails?
My sensor was leaking oil on the gasket and dripping onto the manifold. Had to use some silicon to seal the gasket and now all good
Richard Owen what symptoms or codes was your car giving out
alex molina none
That silicone works well. Used in on my X5. Also use Blue Devil stop leak.
Thank you for Ur help that's why mine went into limp mode on my 318
Or if your eccentric shaft is worn (on N62 are two of them) and you are not willing to spend like 2000 euro only in parts then just plug off these sensors and drive without the VVT… already driving like that for 6 mounts,no more missfires, rough idle, check engine, bad smell from exhausts or limp mode (my engine is N62B48)
You the best man
thanks
I have a 328i the cam broke off and I swapped the motor the engine was running good not it’s giving me misfire codes and P0016 and I checked everything that relates to the timing can you help?
Hi! I don't know where to message you for my concern. I have 2006 320i e90. the issue is after turning off the engine it'll take 30min or more before the engine starts again. The battery is okay by the way. Hope you can help me on this. Thank you in advance!
Make sure it’s not running hot at all
Had this problem before and basically I didn’t know because it was only slight but it will not allow you to start the car until cool enough
@@markeviusdelllano9303Yes, that is basically what I notice, if the engine is too hot. especially if I am from a long ride, I need to cool it down first before it starts again. Will Coolant fix this?
Did you figure out the issue? I am having the same problem now. Random no starts. Have to wait hours for a start to happen. Everything is good. No codes. SMH.
never ends on my N52. Rough idle since I got it. Parts replaced: plugs, coils, updated DME, cleaned Vanos and fuel pump updated with WinKFP. I guess I'll try this next
I know it's been 3 weeks but did tht solve ur problem?
Replace vanos not just clean
What’s the word, Mike? Any luck?
Will this also be a problem on the 650i's 2007 N62 4.8L engine?
Is it a problem on 2010 bmw 535d gt please
Dear Doctor : that mean , we need cut off this sensor out and make it stop working?? Or we make clean for it and re-instalation on position??
I think he mean clean it up to keep factory function
I have the 520d m47 does this engine have this or is it just petrol
Can a bad Eccentric shaft sensor throw a code for o2 sensors? I have p1017 and p1070
What will be the part number for a 2006 BMW 330 Xi Sedan
Did you have rough idle issue? If so what did you do to fix it? I have the same exact car as you
Thank you!! I’m still learning but I just did all coils and spark plugs bc person before me didn’t take care of the car so oil gunked up everywhere that I’m trying to rid w out locking engine and it’s running rough again and I’m about to do the gasket so I will do this as well!
Consider cleaning mass air flow sensor , cleaning vanos
solenoids
@@jrjr8574 how to clean mass air flow sensor ? I’m in the same issue
Need advice , been having valvetronic issues, think I found a corporate after replacing a lot of stuff , oil in the sensor , should I clean it and jus replace the gasket, or jus just get a new one and put it in, already did the vc gasket rew months ago 🤦🤬 , thanks any body
Can you help with e46 standard transmission
is the same sensor in E46 325i?
What happens to the valve cover bolts when the cover is removed that causes them to be replaced?? (New to BMW)
Question, I have a 2005 525i BMW. I have a transmission fault, when shift the gear at idle it thumps hard. a picture of a gear appeared on the instrument cluster.
says I can shift with out the break pressed. can it be the transmission solenoids? or the crank shaft sensor? need help. please TIA
will this throw its own code, or just multiple cyinderr misses?
Is this on the N47 too?
Hey this also works for an BMW X1 e84 ?
Hey mate! First off... Wooow! I stumbled upon this vid today as my first of your vidz. How dis i ever miss your Channel!? You my good sir, will have a new member for sure. Absolutely stunning content. Thank you so much!
Best regards,
Your new apprentice
Thanks so much for the info and efforts with the video.
If codes on the computer says oxigen sensors bank 1 sensor 1 and 2 as well as bank 2 sensor 1 and 2.
Also say cylinder 5 misfire.
Can I trust that, and just go ahead and replace them 4 to solf the problem, or could it give me other codes after replacing what the computer say.
Love your channel brother!!!! Great information that the dealership will never tell you!!!!
Thanks Dean, I've got this issue on my e61, makes car undriveable. Have you any recommendation on where to source these parts for the sensor and rocker cover. So much low priced cr*p out there now . VDO make the sensor I believe and available aftermarket.
Brother, could this be a common fault on a v8 2008 X5 ?
Should I disconnect battery to check if oils inside the sensor?
Is this only for the regular/ base engines ?
Hi buddy we're abouts is this on a 320d f30 2013

I guess non of the videos for mini
Hi, i just bought a BMW E90 325i (n53). In low revs at low speed and especially in second gear, I can hear a whining/ jet sound when accelerating. In higher revs (above 4-5k) in second gears it disappears and in third, fourth, fifth and sixth gear it disappears. Is this normal or is something probably wrong and if so, what is wrong ? Thanks
Is it coming from the engine bay?
If it is, it's probably the oil filter.
Makhlouf A yes its coming from the engine bay. I’m changing it as soon as possible, thanks!
I know this is random, but I have no one else to ask. I love your videos and thought you might have the answer
I need a new subframe for my 2005 bmw e53 x5 4.8is . Dose The 4.4is front subframe fit the 4.8is
so we just remove this plug and but anything else ? so i have bmw x5 n52 engine. it aint a lot shake during the engine start however some times has shaking actually during the engine start.
Could that also make your car when hot to loose power after the enjin has been switched of and re started?
Can this happen to a 2004 545i cause I’m having the same issues
i have an issue with my idling on my n52 motor. it is smooth except for random “hiccups” where it shakes the car every once and a while. would this be the problem?
did you solved it?
Hi bro is there any bmw OME parts shop in battersea london or close to battersea??
Will this sensor cause no response to your gas pedal over time?
2006 330i N52 NA version here. I'm halfway through taking apart the cover and noticed oil in this too. I've got the dreaded 2a87 code and am going to look at the camshaft bearing ledges. Do you think this would cause that code also? Thx for the tutorial
Any update’s???
Can bimmer code works on a 2006 BMW E90?
Great advice and explanation, many thanks.
Why can’t I find bolts for VGC for my 08’ 528i??
There’s constantly oil on it, it has to have oil between the lobes and rollers or it would destroy itself.
it's oil in it not outside of the part as you think. it goues trough the pin and in where it should not me.
Hello @Bmwdoctor
I have the exact same problem, when I remove it the car runs great. After seeing this video I went ordered a new sensor, the issue persists, is there anything else I can do?(e91 318i 2007 n46b20b)
