So happy to see that there are videos highlighting this. I've been practicing as a medical officer in rural India since almost a year now and the psuedoscientific killer shit that I've seen on a large large scale is just plain scary. This mostly comes from ayurveda/homeo hybrid practitioners (thanks to modi govt) and random quacks without any degrees scattered throughout. For example, neonates who are supposed to be exclusively breast fed are given weird syrupy stuff in large quantities by random quacks.. seen aspiration pneumonia and death, Ayurvedic quack discontinues labetalol in pre ecalmpsia, severe anaemics in heart failure being given some neeri syrup or something, diabetic with chronic ulcer treated with topical steroids and weird ointments while OHA is discontinued..etc. I can go on all day with such anecdotes. This on a regular basis is extremely depressing on a personal level. At the end of the day, sometimes I just discuss these things with my mother who lives away from me. She keeps telling me to not get frustrated at things like these and rather move abroad. I tell her that someone has to try and change it, she goes silent after that everytime. As much as time permits in the busy OPD, I try to explain to the patients about the poison that they are consuming but the vast majority of them are just blinded and it's difficult to convince people with no scientific temperament who are mostly daily wage earners. Some do understand and that feels like a rare win. Things like these are causing delay in correct diagnosis at critical times, disrupt proper treatment for chronic morbidities and are doing so much of collateral harm, it's just unimaginable.
But then, Who wins? The govt and the crony capitalists hiding under the garb of pseudo-patriotism.
    How?
    1. Not too many can make it to the already overburdened tertiary care government hospitals (thanks to pseudoscientific death accelerating measures in rural India) So, the govt can keep spending low proportion of GDP on health care
    2. Receives political mileage and electoral bond donations from thieves like Ramdev who don't pay a penny of tax. (Even Nepal recently banned many of Patanjali products, pharmacovigilance in India has become a joke)
The cycle continues while you suffer, more each day.

Im a practising dentist and i see a lot of oral cancer cases..
It is the most common type of cancer in India now and India has the most number of cases owing to our huge population...
While oral cancer might not be caused by ayurvedic drugs they certainly aggravate it.
Patients especially in the rural area when diagnosed with oral cancer go looking for quacks and ayurvedic remedies and these people instead of referring them to cancer surgeons apply local "lep"
    Mixture of some ayurvedic plants
This leads to a quick fulmination of the cancer so rapidly and when the patient comes to us the next time its usualy too late and the patient loses his life.
Its heart wrenching to see so many patients go through this ...
Id also like to add that oral cancer that we see in India is mostly because of 'natural' products like areca nut commonly known as "supari" and tobacco also comes from a plant....!

I have given up hope on the Indian government, given how they have operated with the Ministry of Ayush and promoting pseudoscience. But really devastated to see that the Indian scientific community is so quiet about this. No retraction of the dodgy papers, no strong reprimand by leading researchers in India and no commentaries/response to the dodgy research. Not just Ayurveda, this will really discredit all Indian scientists and the papers published from India.

Another seemingly tiny thing but of major concern about Patanjali is regarding the size v/s actual qty of the product that you're purchasing. This is observed mostly in the medicine bottles, specially the tablets. The container looks big but the actual qty inside is lesser and the base of container (from inside) is tapering at the bottom , so that it _looks_ more in volume, but it isn't really. I mean, this is such a fishy thing for an "ayurvedic" , "swadeshi" company to do.. cheating people like that?!
