Shouldn't we focus on eating healthy. And lastly and most importantly isn't this fear mongering good as far as it's regarding packaged food? These companies are full of shit

Moreover one can watch it in 1.5 or 1.75x there by reducing time to 30mins. But keep making these well produced videos we need them. 1) The problem with sugar is: it is just completely calories with no nutrition. Added to this the stages of processing it has to go through to finally end up in its solid crystal structure is the cause of concern. Sugar from a fruit and sugar from a sweet are not the same as a fruit always have additional nutritional benefits which a sweet definitely lack. Also sugar in general is so addictive that despite knowing about the harm caused by overconsumption, I still end up consuming it. So if fear against sugar can help me in mindful consumption then it's good right!😅
    2) I am always skeptical of consuming packaged food is because of the preservatives added to it. The same food cooked at home hardly lasts for a week but when it comes as packaged the expiry date is beyond 6 months and even 1-2 years. This is definitely a red flag for me. Now don't ask me to show peer reviewed journal as evidence as just this much is enough for me to believe that packaged and processed food are definitely unhealthy. Of course once in a while consumption of even these should be OK but skepticism leads to mindful eating and that's the only way imo.
PS: I follow Dr Pal's advice in the internet and I suppose he is professionaly qualified for the same.

Thank you for saying this. I felt like this whole video is kind of an empty rant in many cases. Why use Palm oil or any refined oil if we can use Ghee or mustard oil, for example? why consume added refined sugar? Sure, everything is fine in moderation, but why not just use alternates that are better?

As the great Kannada poet Kanakadasa once said, "ಎಲ್ಲಾರು ಮಾಡುವುದು ಹೊಟ್ಟೆಗಾಗಿ ಗೇಣುಬಟ್ಟೆಗಾಗಿ".This trend of shaming people for their food choices started in the U.S. as a way to ridicule either ethnic cuisine (mostly Chinese and Mexican) or poor people's food. Unfortunately with the advent of Insta reels, this has caught on and pretty much ruined the culture or approach towards eating as a whole. Science and diet have nuances which vary from person to person. I roll my eyes when people's idea of "healthy food" is eating bland vegetables. If you're allergic to bitter gourd no matter how "healthy" it is, it will only end up sending you to the hospital. Eat food you're happy with and fetch your health goals.

@yogeswaranjb9940 White sugar is ultra processed and loaded with chemicals and contains no nutritional value; it's just empty calories. Whereas jaggery is far less processed and contains some nutrients with no added chemicals, and this makes it better than white sugar. That's the reason dieticians ask people to eat jaggery over white sugar, although they may contain the same amount of calories.

Did not mind the length of it (tbh didn't even realise that it was about to end due to the way it was made). Kudos to you and keep up the good work! As someone who's from a biochemistry background and recently got into health and fitness, I always used to get icked seeing all these fear mongering videos and you nailed it with calling all of them out. Nutrition is a very grey area, there's no black or white. Health and nutrition is very easy and accessible to learn in this era of internet, but one needs to look for trustworthy and reliable resources. In the end it's all about moderation and balance.

This video is not intended for individuals grappling with diabetes (affecting 11% of Indians) or those in a pre-diabetic state (constituting 15% of the Indian population), nor is it catered to individuals managing health conditions through specific dietary choices. Consequently, it is pertinent to note that this content is not tailored for at least 25% of the Indian demographic.
The focal point of this video centers around the concept of calorie intake, though at the expense of disregarding the pivotal role hormones play in the holistic well-being of individuals. A comprehensive understanding of the interplay between factors such as glycemic index, insulin, cortisol, and human growth hormones is essential.
Certain arguments within the video exhibit self-contradiction, particularly in the comparison drawn between alcohol consumption and sugar intake. Such analogies oversimplify the complexity of health choices, similar to opting for the lesser of two evils. It is crucial to avoid such reductionist perspectives, especially when dealing with substances of varying impact.
Approximately 30% of the video is allocated to critiquing other content creators without imparting substantial value to the viewer. This tends to blur the distinction between your content and that of others, as both parties dispense incomplete information without encouraging viewers to conduct additional research. Unlike some creators who, even if sensationalist, at least advocate for cautious consideration in their brief clips.
The singular positive aspect of the video lies in the recommendation to maintain a balanced diet by incorporating whole foods while eschewing processed alternatives. While this may seem evident to those versed in nutritional basics, reinforcing such fundamental principles is always beneficial.
Evolutionarily, the human digestive system did not evolve to process refined sugar. The prevailing scientific consensus underscores the adverse health effects associated with sugar consumption. It is imperative not to glorify such dietary choices and to provide viewers with an informed understanding of the potential health implications. While individuals have the autonomy to make dietary decisions, they should do so cognizant of the broader health considerations associated with their choices.

I used to love your content but this time I disagree on multiple points from your video.
    - Your entire diet recommendation rely on the premise that people should manage their diet properly so that they can cheat on certain days and they have the willpower to control their urges. But you ignore the fact that Sugar is as addictive as Nicotine if not more. Hence, it is very appropriate to call out Sugar as a bad substance even if it is borderline fear-mongering.
    - Comparing Palm Oil Consumption & Cancer Rate and concluding that Palm Oil is safe, is very misleading analysis. Correlation doesn't mean causation. I am not sure Palm Oil is healthy or unhealthy, but your provided analysis lies in the same line as other influencers.
    - FoodPharmer & your conclusion is the same. Less processed food & more unprocessed food which is naturally available. You didn't contradict him on the conclusion itself. Your problem with him is more with the 'Fear Mongering' than with the health advice provided. I would say video execution is personal preference according to the content creator and the target audience. For you a loud & a straightforward (black & white) video can be fear mongering, but others it may not be. (For Sugar, the fear mongering is absolutely necessary. I am not even considering its impact on heart & teeths yet)
In addition, I would say this fear mongering is necessary considering how certains brands are marketing their products as healthy which are clearly not. This discussion regarding their harmful impact came to mainstream media due to his fear-mongering videos only otherwise normal junta would be completely unaware of it.

I am born in a typical Hindu family but as far I can remember I never used to believe in God and other superstitions and other stuff as I thought that there was no logic behind it, learning about rational thinking really aligned with what I believe and now I am looking into atheism as the basics of my life.

It is not necessary to become an Atheist, you can continue following your religion, just don't try to rationalize all its claims through Modern Science. Some things are just there, which have no scientific evidence yet (maybe in the future, or maybe not, idk). One can develop a scientific temperament even if they are religious. At the end of the day, it is up to you to weigh your options and decide.
OPINION - Following a religion is one of the easiest ways to connect with certain groups of people, fit in with society (if that's your cup of tea), increase social life, make more friends. I met someone in one such gathering, who is now one of my best family friends. Even my dad has met people who have helped him take his business to greater heights.
It is not necessary to follow all the customs and traditions that will supposedly give you some benefits, however it is a good idea to incorporate the good qualities preached, such as the ones possessed by Lord Ram, Jesus, etc. You can even learn from the mistakes and bad actions of others, like Duryodhan, etc. If you want to know more, you can also checkout Dhruv Rathee's video titled "The Truth about Ramayan"
      Good day!

Good, critical thinking is an important skill & not all people can hone it.
Now read on Charvak system of philosophy that almost pre-dates even the Vedas & you’ll be shocked by the amount of critical thinking, use of logic, use of scepticism to counter & debunk fantastical claims etc.
A very good reference of this nastika philosophy of Hinduism can be found in the original Ramayana by Valmiki where Sage Jabali is convincing Ram to not be rash, to be loyal to his own mother & not Kaykai, to be loyal & present & lead his kingdom & not become a powerless ,ascetic sage in some unknown forest thus enabling his foes power to grow while weakening own kingdom.

um, you are too focussed on going against the trends in the name of rationality while ignoring so many studies that have linked sugar consumption with multiple life threathning diseases especially because of how rapidly it transforms into glucose which eventually exhausts beta cells in pancreas potentially causing things like hyper-glycemia which is a life threatning condition.
You also ignored the epidemiological studies that link Ultra-processed food consumption with deteriorating mental health (check out the summarisation of those studies on psychology today). There are literally studies showing consumption of these foods decreases the volume of brain in some areas such as hippocampus.
Besides, even if it's about the amount of intake you forgot to mention the important point that an experiment done by a UK doctor who ate only UPFs for just 30 days hadan 30% increade of hunger harmone. The more you consume these foods, your cravings keep increasing. These foods are meant to be addictive and its extremely hard to eat them to a "healthy" level (if theres any at all).

I understand what you say, but imagine you being an ordinary Indian and you feeding your kid bournvita - horlicks on a daily basis thinking that this would improve their brain health height growth etc. and end up finding out that you were feeding him/her sugar caramel and palm oil on daily basis.
This is what food pharmer does. I mean you can criticize him but has to give him credit as he has brought this topic in media that food labels are to be read.
The maximum limit of sugar a male can consume on a daily basis is 36 gm and this much amount is found in almost all the soft drinks out their so why the hell criticize if somebody is saying not to drink that.
I mean I know people who use to drink it on daily basis.

    • @scienceisdope
      @scienceisdope  8 месяцев назад +2

Scrutinizing MNC's and their claims is a good thing. But saying that sugar is bad (which is what foodpharmer says) - is not. Also 36 g is not the max limit. It is a recommended limit by most food agencies. But provided you're not exceeding your daily avg calories, you can for sure exceed that.

    • @adityamaurya8034
      @adityamaurya8034 8 месяцев назад +2

@@scienceisdope well let's do the math , for most people the TDEE will come out to be around 1800-1900 calories correct? You can't say it's more than that because people are living a sedentary life and you can't expect everyone to go to gym working out etc. People has a lot to do especially those who are lower middle class ( can't afford gym ).
In that case assuming you consume something like sweets cake pastry etc ( approx 40 gm sugar) will turnout our to be atleast 400 calories. Then you need to cover your protein requirement which will be around 60-70 gm in that 1500 calories. Untill unless you don't have a personal dietician I don't think any body can do that. That's why when you have gone somewhere and you just have 500 rupees to spend you do not randomly go and buy stuff which will give you momentarily pleasure and cost you 200 rupees . You need to save that money so that you can enjoy your whole day. Life is long journey not 2 minute pleasure

    • @DrGumskratch
      @DrGumskratch 8 месяцев назад

@@scienceisdopeyeah 36 grams is the amount of sugar that someone should have on average every day. Sometimes you can surely exceed it but if someone is using bournvita, horlicks etc. on a daily basis he is easily exceeding the rda of sugar and calories everyday. Also you can't expect everyone to understand or take the effort to understand why sugar is bad. They just wanna know what is bad and what is not. People are too lazy to understand is my point. Occasionally eating sugary foods is perfectly fine. It makes you happy but doing it everyday is not. That's just my opinion and I can be wrong. Also I am a huge fan of yours. @@scienceisdopeWeight gain and calories aren’t the only reason sugar is bad though. You can get diabetes even as a slim person. Chronically high blood sugar damages blood vessels and more.
I have to agree with others here that the average Indian is far too much on the other side of the spectrum where they buy juices, cold drinks and bournvita drinks. They first need to realise these aren’t health foods before we worry about scaring them about eating “too healthy and restrictive”.

Since i feel that you try to present authentic discussions there are few points i think were missed.
Sugar is not bad due to calories the refined sugar gets instantly in blood stream which leads to trigger of insulin and that sugar is quickly converted into fats as you mentioned. Now the body is hungry again as nearly all suger went into fats storage. Then you feel hungry. Suppose you do not eat as you have taken 2000 kcal from sugar then body will need to break the energy storages which is not only fats but is also your muscles to some extent. Which is not good.
I get your point here that directly telling sugar is dangerous is not ok. But considering humans by instinct like sugar and consuming limited sugar with eating whole foods will definitely very tough.
I thought maybe you could have specified on these points with little more time one this in the video.
Also calorie deficit does not work for long time as body adapts to the low calories making you weaker over long time.
Also the muscles are the first things body drops as they need lot of calories.
So to large extent sugars are extremely harmful.
Hopefully you keep creating these videos but with little less aggression.

I agree with most of the things said but
    1. I think we should stay as close to eating natural and as less processed food as possible.
    2. Cutting calories doesn't work for everyone, for example some people have slow metabolism and their bodies will adapt the lower calorie intake. Most of these competition food eaters have ectomorph body type so they can transition back easily.
    3. you mentioned about reading labels, I agree that's very good strategy. But companies often fool us by putting misleading labels. (Example: Patanjali) So better to avoid them.
    4. The problem with eating sweet or fatty, calorie dense foods is not that it will cause problems but if we consume a little bit of it then it spikes our dopamine and then we crave it more and more. If we can avoid those fully then what's the harm.
    5. People should Never get any type of education through reels, there's so much misinformation. Do your own research and follow people who are experts in the field and have dedicated their life to it. For Gym and Fitness I found these people good: Jeff Nippard, Shredded sports science, renaissance periodization.
At the end if you can control your desires and have it in limits it's fine but avoiding processed food is not good. I believe trying to stay as close to natural and less processed food are good. The problem arises when people do it too much, for example bodybuilders will just eat boiled chicken without any spices. This can work but it's not sustainable. That's why there must be a balance in everything.
You are doing a Great Job man Keep it up.

    Thats a wrong explanation
    1)
    Oxidative Phosphorylation:
Glucose goes through glycolysis, krebs cycle.
At last the by product goes to Mitochondrial electorn transport system, to creat an electric transmembrane potential, by pushing electron accross the membrane.
( Even O2 is required fo accept the electron at the end )
This powers ATP generation, which is a universal currency of energy.
    2) Glucose can directly undergo Aerobic glycolysis ( in muscles ) , which produces less ATP and lactic acid.
Like you said pranav anna :
Not Carbon combining with random things.

Bro now this is valuable content, also there are many nonsensical things happening in the internet like alpha masculinity, make a video on topics like that and your channel will boom.👍🏽

I'm more worried about undeclared natural flavors/flavoring than I am sugar. I still buy natural vanilla, almond, onion, and declared natural flavors, but who wants to take a reasonable chance that you are a kannibul?! I don't! At least with sugar, you can countermand it with the other things you do(nonaluminum baking soda and/or vinegar supplement[used at different times], ceylon cinnamon, clove powder, berberine, turmeric, ginger, garlic, onion, veggie vitamins, etc). I take these either in supplements or putting them directly on foods(a good tasting cinnamon will counter the bitter taste of clove powder). But, they say sugar is gee-em-oe/bioenjaneered, as well! So, this is another concern with sugar. If that is the case with everything else that is--are we talking about more than 90%(if not 95%) of American foods that are?!

Great video, explained really well with clarity and most importantly it's evidence-based. Although the refined sugar thing and anything that contains fructose is not that simple, I hope you have gone through Dr. Robert Lustig's lectures or something similar to understand them, Dr. Lustig really explains with tremendous granularity in his explanations upto biochemistry level to get his points across. I thought mention this, but the main point is fear mongering about nutrition which is a very complex subject that you cannot understand by watching a 2 minute video. To fight this negative effects of this kind of fear mongering the only weapon is educating ourselves adequetly upto a certain level so we can build our own bullshit-detectors about the stuff we hear and see about nutrion, and your explanations does a very good job in that education process, kudos and thanks for doing it!

    Quality is really going down.
Palm oil : you picked one random comments and saying it doesn't cause cancer, what audience would like to know is , whether palm oil is better or worse the. Other refined oil? That would have been good information.
Sugar : 2 times heard someone say, sugar is more addictive then cocaine, you didn't address that, you went on calories thing, dude sugar is with zero nutrition and dense calories and it is addictive, which yourself said when you said you can eat 10 pedas, shows how addictive the sugar is. And all the fast food have high sugar or sodium and that's why they are addictive and hence bad. Addiction leads to over eating.

I've explained later in the video that your time is better spent worrying about the quantity of oil in your diet than which type of oil it is.
And I've addressed the r and addiction thing also later in the video

      1. help me with the timestamp where you 'debunked sugar is addictive cocaine ' claim, I couldn't find it.
      2. And if your bottom line is have balance meal with all micro and macro nutrition, what is the point of the video, just say that in first 10 sec of the video.

Pranav, I appreciate your content exposing popular figures. Thank you for sharing the truth 🙏🏻 I'm an 18-year-old seeking information about a self-improvement RUclipsr named Hamza Ahmed, who helps teenagers with issues like porn addiction. I'm interested in determining the scientific accuracy of his claims. While his content is beneficial, I'm unsure about the suitability of relying on the Quran for guidance. If you're looking for content that resonates with teenagers, investigating and confirming the validity of his assertions could be a valuable endeavor.

@@lasyak6355not everyone. There are genuine gems if you know the scene. Many of the top tier guys reference so much from sociology, human nature & psychology to name a few.
But yea referencing scriptures is an immediate red flag & tbh I haven’t seen any legit guys quoting from them, ever.
Manosphere is not the issue, scumbags masquerading as gurus are. Just like quacks preaching alternate medicines in the field of medicine.
