I just bought one and love it. Its functioned a 100% so far. I love the classic look and have no plans to customize it past the steel mainspring housing I added. It’s awesome the way it comes. My buddy is looking for one after shooting mine last weekend, hahahaha. Id buy a classic commander too. Please consider that. Thank you for the great gun.
Customize? no way! I want for carrying and shooting the hell out this new classic total blacked sight and hammer. The only thing I will put main spring housing with lanyard and blacked ejection port
Do a review on Combat Commander 70 series .45acp Nickel Plated, and instructions on how to clean them from holster wear, stains, and idiot scratch if possible. Thank you
I have a Jan 1940, 1911A Blued, confirmed by Colt, .... it will be going to the American Legion display in Astoria, Oregon. Completely blueprinted and fantastically accurate, but who in their right mind would shoot that pistol? Museum pistol only. Now I need a new Colt .45? I will be buying one of these!
Alright Colt you brought the python back. I bought it love it now it’s time to start producing the M1911s and 1911A1 those were the best looking 1911s they would sell like crazy
I'm about to buy one of these, Can anyone make any suggestions for gunsmithing ideas. I'd like to lower the trailer pull weight and reduce recoil as well as skeletonize the hammer and trigger. I kind of want to cut away or whatever you call it around the trigger guard so I can get my hand really up there. Anything I should do to the slide?
How does this compare to a new series 70 regular version? Does this have the flat or arched mainspring housing? Is the mainspring housing metal or plastic? Are the slides and frame still forged?
Do you still manufacture this pistol? The website says it's out of stock, if so how long does it usually take before there's another production run? Has it been affected by COVID? I get the feeling it's gonna become a lot harder to buy a gun in the US soon. Especially in places like California (yes I know this isn't legal in California it was just an example).
Bob Schweeps I looked it up on an online list of legal handguns in California and the colt 1911 classic wasn’t included but other manufacturers versions of the 1911 were

I'd keep it stock. You don't save a damn thing buying a stock pistol and then spending money on upgrades. The labor alone will cost you more than you would pay if you just bought a Competition in the first place. This pistol is $800.00 and a Colt Competition is $950.00 in stainless.
First , it should have an arched metal Mai spring housing and a:Hirt metal trigger. Maybe two mags with the pistol. I disagree cut is a basis for customizing. If properly fitted it will outshoot most shooters .
think i wanna install a full length guide rod but forsure i'm getting an arched main spring housing & probably better magazines? ...cleaning kit ...leather holster ...barrel bushing? ...grips?
Bought two (one blue one SS) and new right out of the box, both had multiple misfeed failures shooting 230 gr FMJ. I'll try other ammo brands next time at the range to see if that helps. So far, my least reliable handguns.
And what’s even crazier is I bought a $395 SAS 1911 WWII throwback and it hasn’t malfunctioned yet. I put a box of 50 FMJ through it and shot some hollow points that I’ve had for awhile. I’d still want a colt, just simply because it’s a colt. Maybe you just need to break it in, but most likely it could be the mag issue. Wilson combat mags and if it still does it then maybe it just needs broke it. That’s crazy though, especially since this gun goes for what? $1,000?
I'd guess that you may be limp wristing. Recoil operated 45s with heavy springs require firm resistance or the gun and slide will ride back together. I've never seen a Colt 1911 fail to feed. Ever.
I’ve had mine for a few months now. Probably put just over a hundred rounds through it and it’s never jammed on me. It’s probably an internal issue on yours specifically or just the ammo.
got mine in ss a month ago..such a disappointing experience..fails rite away, over & over. spent over budget so i could get Colt..& can't even enjoy it..only 1 mag with it. UPDATE: took to a local Smith who specializes in 1911s,he installed a WC trigger for me & "fine tuned" it..now functions how i hoped..new queen of my collection..still unsure of Colt QC nowadays.
Don G Same,I prefer the look on the 1930s and early 40s M1911A1s.I also hope they could bring back Super match 38 Super. They need to produce more 38 Super M1911A1s
Colt is going in the right direction but people want polymer anymore . How hard would it be to make a run of colt single actions with a Bisley frame or bird's head grip frames .👍
How many bullets does it hold? Can it use armor piercing bullets? Is there a way to attach a laser sight so every shot counts? Would you rather have this, or six hand grenades? Is there a kit that includes a silencer, flash suppressor, full auto conversion, and a 100-round magazine? What about a thousand-round magazine? And what’s the L50 on this gun?
Have one bought it in dec 2019 brand new-it’s garbage bought it hammer fired on half cock slide stop was defective Mag release was defective had to replace that too I guess since they think your gonna change everything anyway no need to QC it do not recommend to top everything off it shoots about a six inch group at 15 yards can group better with a spring fold mill spec also mil spec has a better trigger out of box
So that's the only Colt 1911 classic ?? If you want to buy one this is what you get ? No other Colt has the name classic ,?? Thank you very much for time
Okay, Colt is on the right track, BUT... when are you gonna duplicate the 50s-60s SPEC Colt Commander LW in .38 Super? Originals are "collectable" now and cost me a two bedroom house!! (I promise not to customize it if you make them exactly like the originals)
Exactly! Let me give you a pro-tip: locate a 1950’s Lightweight Commander arched mainspring housing! There are a few left out there, I buy them the instant I locate one.
A bit irritating that it's not either the original 1911 model (WW1) or the A1 (WW2) model. If you guys can bring back the 1911A1 from the WW2 era that'd be great. This is a tiny bit of a let down coming from the original manufacturer
I'm no expert, but if you replace the main spring with a steel serrated arched one, and the grips with plastic all checkered grips, it would pretty representative of the 1911A1. Nothing you can do practical about the larger ejection port, but that is nice improvement. The blued slide, instead of parkerized and bright barrel, might be a problem some don't like. I'm sure there is more.

Yep just the way it is, only I wish they would’ve used the rounded hammer spur like the WW1 and WW2 models.

Do these habe the old 70 series barrel bushing that grips? Or the newer series 80 barrel bushing?
Great video 🇺🇸🐎
I have this gun, and there will be no gunsmithing.
This is THE 1911 in my book. And it's perfect just the way it is.
1. Checker the front strap.
2. S&A Magwell.
3, Three Triangle trigger.
4. Wilson beavertail.
5. Skeletonized hammer.
6. Shoot the ++++ out of it!
Awesome 👍! Include a second magazine too. How about bringing back the Government Model (Mustang).380 acp?
Nice video thank you

I have started looking for a pair of stag grips for it. Sense ivory is illegal now.

got rid of my springfield 1911 A1 for this bad boy. LOVE IT
I would definitely buy this pistol if there was one available at my local gun store. I would just leave it stock.
How do we order one? Gunshop says they only get what the distributor sends them.
Is colt still making the o1911c I can’t find it anywhere?
The Black 1911 is very limited but is this standard production?

They have flat mainspring housing made out of plastic changed mine out to a steel Wilson combat
Why is the barrel blued?
Hi do u ship them to eu dealers pls?
Does it say on the box it's a classic ???
Why would you want to mess with it when it looks beautiful as is

Do want, and am shopping for one. Will likely slow rust blue it eventually, but otherwise leave original.
I can't find one at my Colt dealer. They say they can't get any. Are they still being made?
great overview, on this classic, but I prefer a non NM barrel and an all metal MSH.
Why no match barrel?
With the buyout by CZ, will these 1911's still be made in the USA?
Is there a classic 1911 in 9mm?

Does it shoot hollow points or FMJ only ( unthroated barrel)
