- A quick off the cuff video capturing me doing a trial run of a feminine fragrance. This particular frag is now on trial run #11 (this video) of modifying the formula to get it just right. Here, i'm adding in some caramel note to make the sugar/marshmallow accord to smell more "roasted". Many versions of this fragrance have been made to this point, and i usually get up to about 15-20 trial versions before i become satisfied with the outcome.
I walk you through everything im adding, with commentary.....and a glass of scotch :)

So what do you guys think? Would you like to see more videos like this?
Hi Bryan, I watched them all. They are great ! What I'd like to see more is less about the technique and the theory and more about the business (if you intend to launch) and also the storytelling (which is often turned into the marketing of a perfume). For instance, why do you call it "Bad Ass Bitch" ? A lot of perfumers are very daring in the way they name their perfume, but they are very much "closeted" or politically correct, otherwise. And especially the indy ones, even if they have nothing to loose, compared to the commercial houses. Anyways, that's what interests me. What does this "discourse" on sex politics means ? Does it express a rejection of the apparent ambient puritanism ? Is it nostalgia ? Why is it I feel nobody, and especially the male perfumers, have the balls to assume the opinions that seem to be, however feebly, expressed cryptically through their perfumes ? Thanks.
Thank you for the suggestions Contrebande! I’m taking notes now for future videos
Yes please! Thanks for the videos. Do you gave a google drive template ?
Absolutely
YES ABSOLUTELY- id love this sweet peachy fruity fragrance ! Like watching your method
Your videos are AMAZING! Thanks, I searched for ages to find some good instructional videos on perfumery. You’re a perfect teacher. Please do an all natural blending video if possible and thanks again for filling a void in the RUclips world
Thanks! I'm glad these are helpful! Within the next week's to come I will do an all naturals video. I just need to determine what perfume theme I will do with all my naturals (only)
I agree. Channel needs way more subs and views. Have been in a fragrance portal for the last several days, and have gained more insight into the whole process in a handful of his videos than the previous 50!
Keep it up!
😎😎😁😁😁
I truly enjoyed this ! I really appreciate seeing your process , thanks for sharing . It’s far more helpful to newbs like myself to see a run through of someone on a pro level instead of a lot of intro baby step stuff . All the details you offer inbetween are so helpful and interesting, thanks again
Thanks so much for sharing! Such an enjoyable vid..so informative..legend! Love the scotch and great tune 🤠
Enjoyed start to finish. Would def like to see more like this. Interesting to hear about each element in the composition and the reason why you're adding it and what it's going to contribute to the overall scent profile. Excellent job! Funny, I always have a glass of whiskey while I'm shooting a video... it just stays off screen! Lol!
Gotta have that Whisky while you work! Im gonna be uploading another vid like this hopefully this week, as im working on a new composition for a friend!
These are the synthetics for the accord of Mandrake that I've researched and arranged. Ethyl Buyrate, Hexanol, and Hexyl Acetate. The rest of the other volatile odorants are quite low and not really noticeable. Mandrake has a smell quite similar to red apple and sweet wine, so big fruity wine pretty much. This will probably team up well with Bergamot, Pineapple and Feijoa in like a fruity chypre. That's what I'll probably do with it any anyhow, it's up to you of course enjoy : )
Good job again.
I love how you keep everything on a spreadsheet
It's the best way to keep track and be precise 😁
You have a beautiful home 👌🏾
Love these, very informative! Would be great if you can make a video on how you decide the ingredients to a fragrance/setting it up in Excel.
Also have a quick question. Maybe I missed it, but if 70% is perfumers alcohol, 15% is concentration, what would the rest be classified as?
MORE OF THIS!!!!!!!!!
Great thanks
Hi BK Scents. I learn a lot from your videos. May I ask one thing, how to pre dilute the EO? Do I need to mix anything with it? Thank You
Question. When you are making a test formula and wanting to add a percentage to the final concentrate. Do you split hairs to add to your small test formula or do you just wait until you expand / compound the formula?
It's Such a Nice Video.
Everything is Clear.
But Can Anyone Explain How to get those Values in Formula Colum.
i didn't understand how you got those Values.
thanks by the way.
Hi, nice channel! I'm curious whether you've tried to recreate some ltd edition perfumes? (like Del Mar series of Hugo Boss)
You are so great! During creation, the most used like ies hedione and galaxolide (i saw other your video where 80% were there) that will give a big stable base, its better to add these in first? And after add drop by drop all the other oils etc etc?
I dont think it matters "when" you put it in your blend honestly. Some people do it before and build their Skelton base before placing in their main materials....some do it after. but i dont think it matters when. It just matters to know "if you truly need them", or "how much is needed" to get the desired effect
thanks
I just found your channel and i absolutely LOVE it! I've been wanting to get into perfumery for a long time but haven't really known where to start. You've been a huge help. I do have a question - what would you suggest for a nice, accurate dead rose scent?
The usual rose materials are phenyl ethyl alcohol, citronella and geraniol. But if you add some rose crystals to give a powdery effect and some cinnamic alcohol to add some dry spiciness....it gives a potpourri effect like a dried rose. Givescone also gives a spicy dried rose effect as well.
Hello! Unless it's unproper to ask , would you care to share the formulas for the Sugar and Caramel accords? Thanks!
Will you make a formula using only the materials you suggested in your getting started video?
Palo santo, is it similar in smell to guaiac wood?
What if I used palo santo essential oil?
Thank you so much for this! So how would you scale this batch up to fill a 50ml bottle? And then even further, how would you scale this to fill like 100, 50 ml bottles? Thank you!!!
same question here :(
New to fragrance mixing and blending and trying to do my due diligence. Where would you advise acquiring ingredients? I started off with a set of about 30 essential oils. Seems to have a lot of scents that I can leverage (bergamot, rose, vanilla, etc.)
Perfumersapprentice.com, perfumersupplyhouse.com, and libertynatural.com are my top 3 places to shop
hi there, beginner here, just want to ask, what is the difference between ethanol and perfumers alcohol (that you add in the last one 1.8grams)? thank you
I hope you don't mind me asking where did you buy Paul's Sugar accord/Base? I don't see it listed on Perfumers Supply House website where all his bases are sold
He doesn't sell it. But he did post his formula on the basenotes DIY forum. Just have a glance on that forum and search for "super sugar base" and it will pop up
@@bkscents7050 Thanks a lot
Hey, saw ur monitors for mixing in the background. U got a SoundCloud?
Hi Thanks for you helpfull vid where i can buy the material to make my perfume ?
perfumersapprentice.com, perfumersupplyhouse.com, libertynatural.com are the places i tend to get from
روعة
Hi! I totally would love to try. What would you say the starting price point is for beginners?
Depends on how big your willing to go. A basic cheap scale you can get on Amazon for $35-50. Then the materials around $150 to get you started ....and that's for tiny little 4ml tester vials of various oils, chemicals, alcohol. So for under $200 you can get a basic starter kit to see if this is something you would enjoy doing or not.
But if you do enjoy it......it gets expensive....because you want to buy so many things!!!
How many ML are the tester vials ?
Ay BK. Would you happen to have a spreadsheet for the material percentages?
Found it on your page. Thanks a lot, man!
With great power, comes great responsibility 😉
hi, thanks for the info and formu, there was one ingredient i did not get in the top notes( Menanol) i di not find it maybe because I misspelling it. could you please write the name of the ingredients you using. thanks
The one he says “lastly sneak in” is linalool.
Actually it would be pretty great to see how you set up that spreadsheet. I've done one myself, but not anywhere as neat looking nor functional as yours. ;)
I'll do a video on it! :)
I've just uploaded the video!! It's all yours now.....
@@bkscents7050 Damn! That was quick. I'll watch it tomorrow. For now I gotta sleep. Looking forward to it! :)

Do you think that this applies to incense too?
Lovely video! Congs mate! Can you share that Excel file, please?

Hi much appreciated for the excellent giving spirit you have man. Indeed as far, the most resourceful channel of Perfumery Creation. Seen 80 + free content creators . Keep it up.
Pineapple compound
For large quantity you just doubled the number ?
What ki d of software do you used in your formula bro? Nice video.
What kind
I have a video where you can download this software. Check out my other video for "fragrance formula calculator"
Can you put the details in the description? Volume, materials, drops, percentages
Which chemical is used in perfume to improve the performance like long lasting and also projection
Theres no such 'magic single chemical' that will do this. For beastly performance, projection/silliage on your perfume....its a choice combination of many materials that will give an exalting effect(s), and in particular ratios. Its different for every perfume actually.
@@bkscents7050 can you name examples ? ISO E SUPER ? Hedione ? Ambroxan ?
by projection u mean the distance travelled by the the smell right? am also struggling in that area a lot and bk is right there isn't a single chemical for this..according to your accords it will change...bu i think for every single accord, there might be one or two chemicals that might do the job..
Hello Bro

Do you own a distiller to make your own essential oils?

@@bkscents7050 I love your channel. Thank you for sharing your passion and knowledge for fragrance.
What Scotch are you drinking?
Its different every time, but if i recall....for this episode it was Laphroaig 10yr
@@bkscents7050 Excellent choice.
I would suggest you change the name of the Perfume
Never smell the chemical directly from the bottle always move it under your nose or waft it toward you. You can destroy you sense of smell over time. Be careful.
I like your videos better without the stressing clownish background music. its hard for me to concentrate on what your doing and saying.otherwise love your content
Nothing understand. You should clearly show the quantity. 👎👎
