  • Homeowners John and Nicole bought a house that they thought was already fixed up and would not need anymore work. Soon after they moved in they noticed the tub shower was leaking through the ceiling! They called me to come out and see what was going on, and I found there was no waterproofing in the shower and there was mold on the backer board. Join us as we go through the entire remodel process...from breaking the bad news, to design, to final installation and completion. See below for links to other useful videos:

    This is an awesome video/project concept. You're giving the homeowner an opportunity to not only design but also participate in the creation of their own space in the most deep and meaningful way possible through the expert craftsmanship of your crew and you. You've created so much more than a shower and bathroom.

    Seeing those seem joints with mortar underneath them knowing that mortar wick's water.... No way water dust behind that stuff.
    BUT... Then again most people redo their showers every ten to twenty years and the shower will probably last a good six-plus years without any problems being noticeable. However when the shower is torn out there definitely will be mold and that's when you will notice the issues. 🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍

  • @Aepek
    @Aepek Год назад

    So wish ppl took their time and did jobs like was their own and really did fantastic job, like the install In this vid. Know everyone has “own” standards and 5 diff ppl can say 5 diff things, but hate when ppl say they just nit picky, when the tile job really is “bad” when “LOOK AT IT”, as anything looks good 6 feet away, but we shouldn’t do work based on that thought process, least it’s how I was taught☺️
    Having an issue w/ a shower drain that was done by another tile contractor and all grout has cracked around it, lippage on floor tile is bad, and missing grout as well. Also no grout around perimeter and no silicone caulk for change of plain. The
    drain, an Oatey brand 3 piece, is odd to me. Where grout is cracked by drain and tile, can insert my metal shim and it goes down around 7 inches (length of shim) and doesn’t hit thinset, dry pack shower pan, nothing and the tile cuts around drain looks like was cut blind folded, straight and level cuts in tile are absent, or minimal (most likely will be replacing for better fit). So, this $75k bathroom remodel has some major tile issues and skill level issues imo, especially at that price for a shower, bathroom floor, and tile wainscoting (all porcelain and all black grout). But that drain and lippage going into curbless shower is 2 problems that needs fixing along w/ missing grout and silicone caulk everywhere….rest well, tearing out and doing over not an option.
    Anyone else ever have a drain issue like this? Where nothing to “hold grout” and keeps cracking &/or fall8mg out b/c of install? Starts at 1/8 and ends almost at ¼-3/8” grout line 🤦🏼 definitely not to my standards, but everyone is different.
    Cheers✌🏻

      @jordan2104 Год назад

      You're looking at about $4k to $5k in materials (water proofing, tile, glass door, hardware etc). And yes, this is up there with the high-end showers. I installed "fancier" ones with multiple shower heads, rain shower heads and smart controls etc. But the final cost always depends on how much of the materials are provided by the homeowner, whether you do the demo or not, what kind of tile you need to install and how much framing, plumbing, electrical and other things you have to do. It can get pricey really quick!
