I'm glad you talked about A.C.Green. I remember that record was in jeopardy when he got his tooth chipped in the mid 90s. That dependability is not to be ignored.
I think the one the least likely to ever be broken is the 48.53 minutes per game of Wilt Chamberlain's 1961-62 season (80 games). Let's face it, it never gonna happen again in any era. The idea of anybody not taking a seat for a mere second during a whole season is more than ludicrous nowadays.
I expected you to mention Wilt Chamberlain's 50.4 ppg in 1961-62. It will never happen again. No one will average 48 minutes per game and I highly doubt any team will play with such a high pace.
Bill Russell won two NCAA championships at San Francisco, beating John Wooden's Bruins in the process... Bill Russell wasn't an 'unknown' he single handedly MADE San Francisco a powerhouse program while he was there.
Since you have included Phil Jackson's record, you could have also included Gregg Popovich's record for the most consecutive seasons in the playoffs as a head coach
Good stuff. Moses Malone was a monster on the boards. As soon as he joined the 76ers, I knew they'd win the championship. He was just what they were missed--inside scoring. That said, it's probable that both Chamberlain and Russell exceeded his totals in offensive rebounds. They both averaged over 22 boards a game, as did Nate Thurmond. I'm very sad we don't have video records of all those games.
Honestly I see the 8 straight championships won by the Celtics not being impossible to break, but it’ll be a long, long time before it is. Considering the disparity in level of competition back then, it was a perfect storm for Bill Russell to win those 8 rings
Time to add the all-time scoring in the regular season as a record that won't be broken. With Lebron wanting to play when his son gets drafted, its very likely he'll eclipse 40000 points or more. The only way anyone can even come close is getting drafted as a teenager, never averaging below 25 points even in your mid to late 30's, and having insane durability.
@jaeden The league has changed way too much for it to be possible today. From the number of teams, to contracts, players egos getting in the way, and injuries being a possibility, it's extremely unlikely a team will ever win 9 in a row. The team with the best chance of reaching that were the warriors and injuries and player contracts got in the way of that.
ImFrederic and jaeden back then there were less than 10 teams in the nba and the Celtics has like 6 hall of famers or something during that 8 year stretch and you either get traded or get cut from the team
Here's another record that won't be broken from the 1956 Draft. The Celtics picked 3 players that would not only be Hall of Famers, but they also picked 3 future head coaches that would each lead the Celtics to two championships apiece. In order to break that record, a team will have to 4 different players in a single draft that will one day lead their team to multiple championships as a head coach. Not going to happen.
Moses is literally the most underrated player of all time, mans a 3 time mvp and a champion but people barely talk about the man, don’t even know if some people even know him.
Interesting video! I thought he was going to mention the 2016 Warriors 73-9 record. I can't see that record ever being broken in the future. The league is more competitive now especially in the west.
Good point, but that's possible as long as all the key players suffer no major injuries during that particular season. That's hard to do over an 82 game season though, or if injuries don't affect them then basic sickness could since most of the nba season occurs during the winter which is when a lot of people normally get sick.
