Nope. I was considering buying one from them, but they do the classic bait and switch online. One price advertised as their "special" but when you go to actually order it, suddenly it's $50 higher. They did this with the Shield.
I use a microfiber towel (for car detailing) and it blew my mind. After a few wipes, the slide and all the crevices were spotless and dry. Same goes for the frame and all the small linkages. I used to use the q-tips, but microfiber towels are the way to go.

I'm a newbie to guns and got a M&P 9 as my first gun, this video helped me out a lot today after my first shooting range session. Definitely saving this video for future reference.
Use tungsten disulfide (Ws2)! Dry powder, slipperiest thing on the planet, sheds carbon, bonds to metal by rubbing it on, doesn't attract dirt, doesn't come off, withstands 100,000 lbs. of force, eliminates wear. I run my guns dry with NO problems or signs of wear. Better than oil (oil attracts dirt) but if you are worried of what I say, Ws2 also blends well with oil and can be used together. I've been using it in my car's engine oil for 12 years and the engine is like brand new (no wear!!). Nasa uses Tungsten disulfide (Ws2) on the Mars rover. Great for guns!

Definitely need a bore snake. That method of cleaning the bore is actually prone to damaging

I use a bore snake after each use.... cleans the barrel fine with just a pass or two.
I like using a bore snake with Remington clean/oil

don't use cotton tipped swabs! don't use anything that can get in the sear, striker channel, striker pin area, trigger bar contact with the sear areas! use any tool/rag/ brush etc. that won't leave debris behind!
ok...I was about to do just that....qtips seemed so handy
I just use Ballistol (like Hickok45, LOL) and keep it out of the striker hole. I run a dry patch through the barrel after I clean it. I only shoot jacketed bullets through it, though. I'd use Hoppe's 9 if the barrel had a lot of lead in it.
I clean and lube mine every couple/few months, even if no firing. I only use cleaner, clp, brush, and rag. Takes 5min.

You can do whatever you want but what is the need to wrap the bronze brush? I was taught the brush should be dipped in solvent and used alone. Then swipe the barrel clean with a patch until it comes out spotless.
That’s exactly right.The brush alone removes the build up in the barrel.Then run the pad through it.
FYI California version requires 1 extra step before you can remove slide & barrel there is a a sear just under larger one that needs to be push down you can do the takedown lever 1st or after I done both way what will not work is try to do using the method with non-california MP shield
Just got the S&W M&P 2.0 9mm with Crimson Laser and found this video. I feel like I was watching myself clean a gun. 😂 I’m a Hoppes oil user but overall great job. Just never used CLP. Over on my channel I did a Glock cleaning 2 part video and found that cleaning a gun with a camera between your arms... NOT EASY! If you watch my vid you will see the similarities. I too gave up on silicon rags. 😂

I clean all my firearms after a day at the range. If I don't fire one, it gets cleaned too if the weather is cold. One suggestion, wear cotton gloves whenever possible since skin contact can cause corrosion. Never touch them when putting them away with bare hands.Wipe off excess oil with a clean cloth.
Cleaning after every shooting is not necessary and there is plenty of info out there that doing so actually causes unneeded wear and tear. But hey, if you want to wear out your equipment faster, by all means... go ahead. And cotton glove treatment on a firearm? Seriously? These are firearms, not fine China.
I clean any firearms after use. I don't get people who criticize others for keeping their guns in prime condition at all times.
Other field strips of the 9mm shield show moving the sear deactivation lever down before removing the slide. Is this not actually needed, as you don't show that?
You don't have to bring the slide back to remove it as the sear lever will let you throw it downward, but it adds unnecessary wear and pressure on the slide. The slide has a cut out towards the front for the lever to comfortably be moved downward.
I'm not talking about the takedown lever on the left side of the grip. Inside the magazine well there is a sear disconnect lever that some takedown videos show needing to be pushed down before moving the slide forward. I didn't see that action on your video. I tried taking mine apart while not dropping the lever inside the mag well, but pulling the trigger wouldn't release the slide forward. When I brought the slide back and then pushed down that lever (the one inside the mag well), then slide was able to go forward all the way with no pull of the trigger.
Oh ok, I understand now. I've never had an issue with the takedown of the Shield and you shouldn't have to manually push down on a sear lever to take the slide off. May want to contact S&W on that issue.
The sear deactivation lever is a safety feature which removes the requirement off pulling the trigger to release the slide. Either way works, but S&W specifically states to use the sear lever.
Jonathan Davey my sheild 40 won't dry fire so some needs the lever to take it down. 9mm and 40 is same take down and assessment. My friend model will dry fire, with it odd. Must be newer model or something.
Not sure if this is right way, but I spray carb cleaner on my spring, then submerge it in motor oil then stand it up to drain while cleaning the rest of my gun, and when ready to reassemble, wipe it down and replace. I also spray the barrel down with carb cleaner before hitting it with hoppes 9. Everyone is going to have their own opinion and way of doing things, but I am just letting all know of how I have done it for years. Carb cleaner is damn near unbeatable in cleaning IMO. Ditch the picks and make the switch.

No one ever says why you dont want to pull the brush back through the bore. My question is what difference does it make as long as you get a thorough cleaning?
The rifling is designed to go chamber to muzzle so it only makes sense to clean that way on the off chance you catch a piece of debris and mess up your rifling by going the opposite way. It's highly unlikely, but good practice.
A lot of people don’t because they don’t want to possibly damage the crown of the barrel (at the end of the barrel). Damaging the crown will definitely affect accuracy. Probably not a big deal especially when using a softer material as a jag with “regular” firearms but probably not a good idea with a precision pistol / rifle.
I am new to handguns. If you purchase a gun brand new thats never been shot should you clean it before firing?
It's recommended but not necessary. There's a lot of factory grease in the handgun for storage, but you can just shoot it and then clean it.

CLP to me seems more like an oil. Like i'm never sure if I should use oil again after I used the clp. I use Hopes 9 "which smells like a bastard" then I use some oil. I picked up some CLP. The same one you have and didn't really care for it that much. To oily. I like some parts to be dry. The only oil I want on my gun is the spots you are suppose to oil and I feel that CLP puts a thin layer of oil on everything I use it on to clean.
Yeah it is more of an all-in-one oil, but it tends to do the job for most cleanings. If you haven't cleaned a firearm in awhile, I'd recommend hitting it first with Hoppes #9 Solvent then the CLP.
Most important when carrying and then cleaning this gun is to make sure you clean and lube the mag release because it will rust and freeze up your mag release just from your body moisture's.

I have a m&o shield 9mm too. I take my gun apart a different way. pull the gun back the pull down the lever on the side. Then pull down the lever inside the gun down. push the slide foward then it's apart. but everyone has there ways.
i do it that way too because that's the way written in the manual. I'm assuming there is a reason for that.
Didn’t like how you put the gun back together and didn’t explain it step by step. I’m a revolver guy and don’t have a lot of experience taking apart my M&P 9 I recently purchased from my neighbor to try out. As you didn’t explain how the slide went back on, I gave it a go and it kind of jammed stuck for a second and I panicked a little; but I looked at another video and it showed in more detail what I needed to do.
Just something to think about for someone who may be a good shooter but isn’t as experienced in breaking a weapon down and putting it back together.

Gun wipes are better for cleaning inside your gun.
This is a lesson on how not to clean an M&P Shield, or any other firearm for that matter. What are you doing using Q Tips in your firing mechanism? Plus you missed three of the ONLY seven lubrication points on the M&P. Read your owner's manual before professing to be an expert on You Tube.
You do need to read the manual on oiling it. Also get better Q-tips that stay together if you're going to use them.

At the end "if you have grease on your hands wipe your hands on the metal" not a great idea, you'll impart salts and dirt from your hand to the pistol

Having never cleaned a m&p before I thought I was following your example exactly, but I don't guess I was, I removed the mag, racked it back and locked the slide open, used the disassembling lever, slid the slide forward and pulled the trigger and nothing. Had to watch about 47 more times to catch your little (rack the slide back and forward real fast) that you did not mention, which cocks the gun, allowing you to pull the trigger thus allowing the forward to slide off frame. Mine was already unloaded and basically empty and cleared prior to the video. Cannot watch any more of this video.

You seem well-intentioned, but I have to say that you are using WAAAAYYYYY too much oil and putting it in places where it doesn't belong and can cause major problems over time. 90% of the vid is OK and I appreciate your time and effort, but shooters who follow your instructions on how much and where to oil the gun are going to have serious problems with that oil attracting dirt, etc. and leading to malfunctions.
VERY VERY TRUE! As a gunsmith I can assure you if you put this much oil, it's better to NOT clean at all! It would be similar to adding double the amount of oil in your car....if you see the drop, you put too much. Shoot for 1/2 drop and wipe excess off. If you need to watch a youtube vid, I would take in your NEWLY purchased into a pro (just to break it in). Then subsequent cleanings you can do....remember, the 1st cleaning is the most important. I say it's worse to over oil than not oil because s&w does a great job of cleaning and using a long shelf life oil before shipping (one of the best...mossburg is the only other company that compares).

Shoot, I would fix your shield for free and film it for you so you can understand your gun (limit to the first 3....I am in CA.ship it to me and include postage so I can ship back)....once you learn the gun, you won't need extra help. m&p = military and police. why? it's one of the most reliable guns on the market. how often do police clean their guns? from experience, not much! (it's a "the cobblers kids run barefoot", type deal).
anyway, support gun ownership in all 50, help get rid of the unconstitutional CA gun "laws", look for loopholes (YOU CAN LEGALLY CARRY A GUN IN CA WITHOUT A CCW!!! HOW? REPLY N I WILL TELL YOU :), and we are fighting to carry guns for protection against the government (just like the 2nd amendment says); protecting against criminals and/or hunting are just secondary....it was NOT the purpose!). THAT'S WHY ASSAULT WEAPONS SHOULD BE LEGAL, PERIOD.

Find someone else to model cleaning your handgun. 1st mistake, remove any ammo from your cleaning table. 2nd, t-shirts and q-tips leave material behind and can cause problems including misfires. 3rd, plastic picks are junk, invest in brass ones. 4th there is a take down lever in the M&P shield that this guy doesn't show. Common sense things this guy should know.

Never put oil in your msg well and why are you cleaning. With gun oil? Lol is to be used sparingly on the parts of your pistol that wear due to metal to metal contact. You must be a shill working for glock. Anyone watching go to a S&W video to properly learn. Too much oil especially near your firing pin and channel can cause Majior problems. Although, JAMES is correct it's his gun i just would hate to see his edc fail him when it doesn't go bang. Good day to all.
