    Nothing any more wrong with a "Got Sig" bumper sticker than an "I love Golfing" bumper sticker. Only problem is, it's an advertisement that you are likely to have a gun in the car. That's the only reason I do not have any gun-related stickers on my car. I hate not having my NRA sticker on the window; we need all the advertisement we can get; however, it's advertising that a gun might well be in the vehicle and invites break-in.

    Recently, I asked you for some advice for a new shooter (me) and you graciously responded very quickly. I took your advice. I went to a range, with a good friend, for the first time in my life. I shot several handguns. A 9mm Glock 19, a Taurus .38 revolver, and then, I rented one of these S&W M&P Shields. I never shot a handgun before in my life. I have somewhat of an advantage, I'm a luthier, I fix stringed instruments, and have what is commonly called a 'good eye.' I was more than satisfied with the experience.
    I was surprised, and pleased that I actually seem like I'm a good shot. A few bullsye's, and good grouping. I will never be on the skill level you are, but I am happy that this is something that I have now experienced. I am thankful to you for these really educational, and entertaining videos. And for your good advice and generosity. Thank you!

    2 years ago I inherited a winchester model 94 that was my father's deer rifle. Having never owned a firearm and being relatively inexperienced with them I started doing research on etiquette/safety as well as on the rifle itself, which brought me to your RUclips channel. The gun fever that I am now afflicted with is at least partially explained by the quality of content and production of your videos. I recently purchased a shield 9mm and your thoughts on the weapon were definitely influential in my choice. So thanks for producing a quality product that is free and useful for anyone interested in guns!

      Angus Van Halen the M&P Shield is an excellent choice for EDC. To me this gun feels much better than the Glock 26 or 43. I have one and love it!... then again I have the PPQ, along with a Sig P320 both of which I prefer for EDC. Simply because I like to have more bullets. Like Hickok says, the shield is just slightly too big to be a pocket gun but works perfectly for a small holster gun (or in a purse). I think your wife would love it! The gun shoots incredibly well for such a small firearm. Has great feel, balance, trigger, and stock sights!

    Spring 2023 & I still carry my shield 9 daily since I bought it back in early 2015. I even used it in IDPA matches and stopped counting the rounds thru it back in ‘17 at 15k. Cleaned it after each time at the range and replaced the recoil spring once and today it literally looks like a new gun externally. Internally the rails and reed ramp developed a nice polish but the gun still feels “tight”. Love it!

Due to the slimness of this bad boy. Glad you like yours as much as I do. You can definitely depend on the OG shield if the going gets tough. It’s a work horse that don’t stop working. I put it off for years (Always a gun of some kind or another bumping the Shield) but I started the paperwork on a Cali model yesterday. Even with a modest collection, I'm excited to get the Shield. Already ordered a Stealthgear holster and Talon grips.
    of course I mentioned Hickok45 and Justin Opinion in my comments to Talon. Hickock was the guy who introduced me to Talon and they have gone on every polymer framed gun since. Hickok must have some kinda pull with Talon because within an hour of ordering the grip (and some other Talon products) I received an email that they were shipped.

      +funhouseofhorror yup it's spot on. I shot it at the range tonight and it's amazing. I'm shooting the most consistent groups i ever have with a pistol. So easy to field strip a ridiculous pleasure to shoot. At the 400 round mark; I'm starting to bond with this well crafted firearm; I'd trust it to protect/save my life and others with absolute confidence.

    • @BosleyBeats
      @BosleyBeats 7 лет назад

      +funhouseofhorror you are so right. Rapid fire is very clean and the groups remain tight. Was at the range yesterday to put another 200 rounds through and I'm starting to establish a natural rhythm with the pistol. I can draw, aim, fire and hit where I'm intending to hit. It's so hard to explain; but I'm sure as a competition shooter you under stand how linear the point of aim is with this gun.
      I'm shocked and speechless anytime I shoot this damn thing. Hard earned money well spent.
      What other pistols do you recommend that have this type of feel and crispness to its design?

    I bought a Shield in 9mm about a month ago and it's a great concealed gun. It looks like it has metal fixed sights. It's small but very comfortable in the hand. I would recommend the Shield over the Compact mainly because the Shield is much smaller than a Compact and feels great in the hand. Shoots FMJ roundball and HP just fine for me. Great gun. Get it if you can find it.

    Just a couple things that not mentioned here. This gun has a slide stop not a slide release. I notice many reviewers on these weapons fail to bring this up. If you try to do a standard slide release on this pistol you are going to just hurt your thumb! To take it out of battery you mush pull back on the slide and release it (the sling shot method). You'll notice Hickok doing this through out the video. There is a mod on You tube to fix that problem if you so desire. Also you can use this as a pocket gun if you have cargo pants. Just put the gun on the leg pocket.

  • @Joey-fs7ro
    @Joey-fs7ro 15 дней назад

    My Shield kicks less recoil than my heavier and bigger handguns. When I compared them side by side and lined up the bottoms of the slides, it's easy to see that the design allows your hand to set higher on the grip. Absolutely great gun and deadly accurate. S&W hit a home run with this one right out of the box.

    I have to say, after shooting this in a 9mm I have never felt more comfortable and confident shooting a firearm in my life, being the trigger is amazing. No delay, clean break and wall, grip felt amazing and it is very accurate. Only thing was the magazine can get a little hard to load after about 4 or 5 rounds in, other than that I love this firearm

  • @Aaron-ro9vr

    He hits the gong at that much distance with a 5" sight radius!!! I'd be happy if I hit it once out of a magazine or two.

    • @MK4vDubbin
      @MK4vDubbin 9 лет назад +1

      +River Walleye Guy I don't really understand the whole sight radius argument. It's a pistol. You should be focused on your front sight and nothing else. The rear sights really don't matter.

      @Football5198 7 лет назад +6

      Sight radius only makes a difference when the real "rear" sight (i.e. The man with his booger hook on the bang switch) is competent. Practice practice practice. Drive the gun don't let the gun drive you. That being said, Hickok 45 has earned his competence.

      Jason P I would guess that partially it's due to how small these guns are. Hicock is 6'8" tall. This gun is really small and narrow. It's hard to shoot as well when a gun is too small for you. That would be my guess.

  • @cswann8

    OK that second mag on the gong was damn impressive. It would have still been great shooting with a FS pistol, but from a compact carry pistol??

    Having to pull the trigger to disassemble a firearm should not be a big deal to anyone in my opinion. It should be well clear and empty before you even think about field stripping so it really shouldn't matter. As far as other compact pistols; I think the LC9s, G43, PM9, PF9 and Shield are all excellent performers. The M&P shoots best for me so i pick that for auxiliary carry duty, but others may shoot better with some of the competition. They are all good reliable models. I would Never reccomend the DB9 or 380 for carry though, they simply are not reliable enough to bet your life on. DB's newer ARs are nice, but their little pistols are weak and poorly made, one +P round can destroy it and even regular ammo is very picky about what it will feed and jams often with many loads.

    • @hickok45
      @hickok45  7 лет назад +121

      Yep, if you cannot be trusted to pull the trigger on an empty chamber in order to field strip a firearm, you should probably not be owning a firearm.

    I love this gun so much that two weeks after I bought my .40 I got my wife a 9mm...and I haven't even shot it yet! It's just feels so good in the hand and comfortable to carry. I have a lot of compact carry pistols but I really lean towards these single stacks, especially when using an IWB holster.

      It's my only pistol so far. I don't have a lot of money, and bought it in 2015. It never leaves my side. It's such a great little piece of responsible self protection. Why not go for it! I put a clipdraw on mine and clip it on... And it disappears. I've carried it in so called "gun free zones" a time or two and no one the wiser. Also ive put over 1000 rounds of various brands and Not. One. Issue. Ever.

    Great piece, well built and accurate as the dickens. It loves my handloaded .40 caliber 124 gr, LRN ammo. Also got a ported .357 Sig conversion barrel. It spits those out with authority and laser like proficiency. It carries IWB so comfortably, it's easy to forget it's by your side. One of the best investments made in my fifty years of collecting firearms. 👍

Went for the Ruger LC9, but the girl at the store put this in my hand to compare and the instant my fingers wrapped around the grip I was sold. This gun just fits my hand beautifully. Can't wait to get to shoot it on Tuesday. I now have the complete M&P 9mm collection with a Full, Compact, and Shield.... Now I need to pick up a Pro Series and a Pro C.O.R.E. Series and I really will have all the 9mm M&P's ;)
