i first watched this guy probably 10 or 11 years ago. so happy he’s still on that grind
And he still banging the guns and bang some Booty too 😂👍
Yup, subbed for a grip myself.
I watched him when I was 9 or 10 lol now I’m 18
Same here, gotta give the guy credit for his dedication.
@@henrygonzalez360 He would be doing this if he was paid/famous or not. it's his hobby. he would probably pay to do it.
Hickok seems like the grandpa that knows everything about guns and will teach you everthing
hickok doesn't look a day over 20 tf you mean "GRanDpa"????
I'm sorry sir I apologize for my ignorance
He actually looks like he lost a lot of weight. Hope its not a sickness. Maybe he switch to TB12 diet.
He's been shooting ever since you had to throw rocks
That is how I feel about him, too! Between Hickok45, Massad Ayoob, and Justin Opinion, I have learned a great deal from these wise people - and I am grateful for it! =)
Just bought an EZ30SC and compared it with my EZ 9mm. The EZ 30SC penetrated an empty propane tank while the 9mm made a nice dent, out of 20 rounds at least a dozen of the Federal 30SC penetrated the tank with a good clean hole. It was louder than the 9mm and did shoot faster and has more capacity. Both along with the EZ 380 are identical and all 3 are great to rack and shoot especially with arthritis and age, imo the EZ 30SC is now my favorite of the 3.
The EZ .380 is identical in form and function, but it's considerably lighter and thinner in the slide.
@@hickok45 Thanks for the reply...enjoy your videos, very informative and educational....also fun to watch!
I am a cancer survivor with some neuropathy in my hands from treatments. The smooth rack slide is great for me…. love my EZ 9mm
I had it in mind for my wife who has tendinitis in her wrists but let her cycle through several guns at Palmetto. She landed on the EZ 9mm for the ease of use and shooting. It felt right in her hand from the get go. She's going to her CCW training next month.
Every time I hear “Hickok45 here…” I know I’m about to be in a good mood.
I just wanna say thank Hickok45, thanks for all the work and fun times we get to enjoy with you and John. We're all truly blessed to have you.
Your honesty is a jewel. You honor your supporters and do not bite the hand that feeds you,. You say it right up front: "We are supported by Federal so we can't review ammo". That is one beautiful admission of loyalty to a brand. Ed Sullivan would have hired you as his marketing director in a heartbeat.
Your giggles after firing will never get old, Mr. Hickok.

I got the 380 EZ. I love this thing.
I love my Shield + 30SC.
I bought the 380 EZ a few years ago. LOVE IT!
Are you sure you can handle it?!
@@brianblackburn-author7531 of course I can. Why wouldn’t I? I can still handle 9mm and 45, but the slide spring on my Springfield XD 45 was getting to be painful to rack. As I’ve gotten older my hands just ain’t what they used to be. This EZ isn’t my only pistol and it’s not the only one I carry, but it’s the one I carry most because it’s easy to shoot.

Today's winner.👍
That is "currently unavailable" lol
The best uncle any one can ask for. Keep up the great work.
I am so glad you gave a very honest review of the problem with the grip safety. Your quote " I would never own one for self defense everyday carry" sums up exactly my concern the first time I dry fired the 9mm ez we purchased for my wife. I have talked to S&W customer service asking if they have an updated grip safety with a larger protrusion but not like the performance model and they said no. When conscious of the grip when target practicing only on occasion did I have a ftf but my wife more so. I added a 1 inch self stick soft rubber stip not even 1/8" thick to it this week and went to the range. She shot approximately 200 rounds and did not have even one fail to fire! I did about 30 dry fires before going and about 25 live fires at the range and also had no ftf issues. The strip I added did not move at all. Maybe now with your 10's of thousands reviews of you showing how you had to tape up the grip safety for your demo Smith & Wesson will get the message and come up with an update. The other problem with the tape you added would be quick take down, and everybody already knows that problem! As far as the super 30, I personally see no advantage of switching from 9mm. Thanks for the great videos and honest opinions and reviews.
I hate grip safeties
I don’t mind the grip safeties at all…but on my 9mm Performance Center EZ, sometimes my small hand seems not thick enough(?) or rides too high(?) or SOMETHING on the PC safety and I get a dead trigger situation…not very comforting! I’m going to try your idea. It doesn’t happen ever on any of my other grip safety guns…
I never get tired of Hickok45's laughter! How about you? 8D
Never get tired of him in general.
Oh yeah man
Reason why I watch him. Chill shooter who tells it like it is and keeps it light. Teaches while he entertains. Not intense.
I like the grip safety. Never had an issue with it and it allows me to holster with my thumb on the back of the slide, so the grip safety isn’t depressed and it can’t fire. Same thing I do with a hammer fired gun.
Nice Comparison. I carry a old colt mustang sometimes, With less recoil the 380 bullets hopefully will all go where they’re supposed to.
I really enjoy watching a genuine review. Thanks Hickok
I noticed it's louder! But , the feel of comparing all these....then you have felt it! Thanks for sharing!!
It's a very high-pressure round, it will be louder in comparison at any barrel length.
.22 9mm .380 30 super carry doesn’t matter what the round still wouldn’t want to get hit by any
I don't want to get a papercut... doesn't mean all things you don't want to get hit by are equally effective defensive tools.
@@libertyprime9307are you dumb? A 22 would be just as effective as anything for self defense. Grow a braincell a man killed a grizzly with a 22lr

Sir great video, the ammo companies are always reinventing, 38 super is the way. Or my favorite 357 sig ❤️ it
Been waiting for a comparison of the EZ’s
380 EZ/PC rose to the top spot in the family poll-price, size, accuracy, ez to rack=Goldilocks.
My 380 Shield EZ is a great pistol. It goes everywhere with me sometimes in addition to my M&P 40 full size and compact. Load it with good Sig ammo and confidence level as self-defense round is quite high . Yes, I prefer any round beginning with the number “4”, but, better to have the smaller thunderstick than none at all. Hickok 45 national treasure. I too have real large hands - it’s a gift!
I hope you don't tape the grip safety
@@enricomandragona163 why would you ever tape the grip, safety or not?
@@us1fedvet just saying because you have big mits!! If you were playing attention HC 45 did!!
@@enricomandragona163 understand. I’ve gotten grip rubbers in the past but the Smiths all have good grips out of the box. I’ve gone through my fair share of Pachmyers and Gil Hebard grips on revolvers I’ve carried.
If I'm carrying .380, I'd rather run Lehigh+Underwood ammo.
Laid up with a ruptured tendon in my foot and watch Hickok45 is like therapy.
Live in the NJ and got another permit to purchase a pistol. Have a Glock in 9 mm. Will probably go with the S&W M&P in .45 ACP but this .30 super carry is interesting.
I just ordered the 30 super carry and really appreciate your common sense evaluation. Love your channel
Thank you for burning a little bit of carry ammo for this comparison. Much appreciated.
Hopefully he saved himself a mag or two's worth 😏
You are so natural and easy to understand. I have learned so much and appreciate your guidance..
You are the voice of common sense when it comes to the 2A and firearms....thank you for your videos they are full of wisdom.
Here's the utility I see for the .30SC: spare cylinders for the .30 Blackhawk and .32 Mag/327 Single Six/Sevens, and eventually in PPCs and full-size match pistols that share the same magazines. My wish list? Reintroduce the M1 Carbine in .30SC in a lightweight synthetic-stock version along with a full size, adjustable-sight match grade pistol, with magazines around 20-30 rounds that interchange between the two.
I want a grandfather like Hickok45! Somebody's a lucky grandkid. This is the kind of guy would have some kind of super power and will never die.
I carry a .380 EZ on my son's recommendation after he shot his girlfriend's. I tried it and found that it did not aggravate my arthritis. The little ones, Sig P238, Ruger LCP ll, are too snappy/twisty for my thumb and wrist. Ditto .357/.38 Special LCR. I'd like more power and capacity, but I don't know...
Right there with you. My wife packs a 380, while I still daily my Ruger lcrx 38/357
When the M&P and the M&P Shield first came out I tried both in 380, 9 and 40 at the range.
I didn’t like the shield and I do NOT have big hands. I did like the standard M&P , purchased it in 40 cal and still carry on the trail. Good guns
Thanks for being the first to make a comparison video on the 9mm vs 30 Super Carry
Hickok45 you remind me of my grandfather and step father. He is still around and his favorite deer rifle is his model 99 300 Savage. That was what I used to take down my first deer. Powerful cartridge. If you can find one or even just a rifle that shoots 300 Savage we would love to see and hear your thoughts. We love your videos. Keep up the great work.
I have a like new savage model 99E made in the early 1950's. Caliber 300 savage. Great rifle.
Yeah everybody! Spend your hard earned dollars on a handgun chambered in Federal's awesome new 30 Super Carry! And in a few years Federal will come up with a brand new latest-and-greatest cartridge, and leave ammo for your awesome 30 Super Carry as non-existent as ammo for my awesome .327 Federal Magnum Ruger revolver and Henry Big Boy. Count yourself fortunate if you didn't spend your hard earned money on the gun before the ammo disappeared. The guy at my local gunshop, who sells a lot of Henry Rifles and Ruger handguns, finally stopped stocking anything chambered in .327 Fed Mag because Federal Premium stopped supporting their customers with ammo for it. Federal Premium is filling the shelves with 9mm, but not producing ANY .327. I'll never even consider buying any firearm chambered in .30 Super Carry because I'd fear that Federal Premium's support for the cartridge would eventually disappear the same way it did for the .327 Fed Mag.
I'm a 9mm guy but took a chance on a shield in 30 super carry. First trip to the range and love it. Less snappy than the 9 in a smaller plastic framed pistol IMO. Will integrate it with my other conceal carry pistols.
Better than a 380 slightly worse than a 9. A decent carry option.
I’ve never heard of 30 super carry!
You think a 9mm is snappy??? What's this country come to???
@@brianblackburn-author7531 yeah I carry a shield 45 2.0 and don’t think that’s snappy, but some people don’t like recoil which is understandable
I enjoy the EZ family of pistols, but I have to go with the .380 being every return shot hits in the same spot without trying.
Whatever you say, Shirley🤣😂😭
I was just complaining about the EZ grip safety this week with Smith & Wesson. I have very small hands, so it’s not just you @hickok45. Sure do wish they would make an EZ with out the grip safety!
I have the Hellcat and the EZ.380 and I love the smooth slim fit of the .380 for carry but that capacity anxiety. Would love to see a glock in 30 super as you said.
My wife has the EZ .380 due to Carpal Tunnel, and it works for her! My daughter will get one as well after shooting it! Good video Hickok!
I love to watch Hickok45 RUclips channel he definitely knows alot about guns and it helps me out
Just bought myself a shield 30 and I'm very happy with my purchase!
Thanks for a fascinating comparison that only you could do. I guess the marketplace will decide whether we need another caliber, but more choice is better, no matter which wins.
I'm still not sold on the 30 super carry and don't really see it going anywheres but if it means someone is more likely to carry it then leaving their 9mm at home I'm all for it. I carry a small 380ACP or 38 special in my pocket from time to time and if not I carry a 9mm or 45ACP of some kind on my belt so I have no reason to get into another cartridge to reload for. Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!
If ammo ever drops to 9mm or lower end 380 prices I think the 30 would pick way up. It has a lot of things going for it
@@MrEvilTag If the government sets a national law limiting mags to 7 rounds this cartridge might disappear altogether. Last time this happened a lot of shooters dropped 9mm for 40 and 45.
@@slick3129 thats not gonna happen and we all know that
Another channel did a ballistics test 9 mm versus a 30 super Carrie. The 30 super Carrie went 19 inches into the ballistics gel where the 9 mm went 12 inches in. Also, they did it with a snub nose bullet and it went through 36 inches of gel and kept going. I just bought a 30 super carry because it was really cheap and to tell you the truth I’m loving the gun no misfires no jams really good grouping I’m hoping more companies start building more 30 super carries so the ammunition will go down right now it’s about $.50 a bullet to wear a 9 mm is about $.28 and I’m talking gel hollow points
I really admire his (Hickok 45) presence of mind in handling firearms while doing videos
It's an interesting idea. I've never been much of a caliber 'snob'. I like 9mm, 45acp, 10mm (10mm is probably personally my favorite though), but 380acp has a special place in my heart.
10mm is my favorite too! Love my glock 20... People have been fighting over 9mm and 45acp for decades and i can't help but laugh in 10mm
By definition, if you like 10mm, and especially if it is your favorite, you are a caliber snob. Own it. S&W 1026 FOR EVER!!!!
An incorrect assumption. Now if I said 10mm is the best, that would make me a snob.
@@Glock20SF10mm that doesnt make sense. People have preferences. I love shooting all guns and calibers. But im slightly biased because the 10mm glock 20 was my first ever handgun which was also a gift from my dad. I love 10mm because it has the best of both worlds when talking about 9mm and 45.
I also have a 9mm and a couple 45s. All great shooters.
380acp brings 2A supporters into the community who might otherwise not join us.
"Ne'er do well neighbor, .22plinkster" lmao
my wife just bought a 9mm EZ for her first gun after renting several at Palmetto's range. She's excited about taking her CCW class next month.
This cartridge is amazing . It is about time they finally offer something to take the place of the 380 acp. A cartridge that if you ever need it should actually stop the threat. Unlike 380 ACP which is under powered to confidently get the job done. I expect to get Super Carry's for all the women in my family. They currently have micro 9's . But I can tell they are intimidated by the sharp recoil in their current carry guns. I recently got a 30 SC for myself and I love it.
380 will stop a threat, 22 will stop a threat. 30 SC has a similar recoil to 9mm, if you don't like recoil then 380 will do just fine.
I have 3 Shields. 390, 40, 22. I really like them. 40 is very hard for me to rack. Arthritis and chemo. Love the 380 except it has stovepiped me twice on last round. I carry this gun everywhere
Perhaps I'm reading this wrong but, are you saying that you carry the .380 that stovepipes?
@@RenotsBoy yea I know. It’s only one I own I can rack w my arthritis
Sorry. Had a call. And 4 years of chemo has took a toll and it’s slow road back. Maybe I’ll go back to the Glock.
Early Shield 380s had a recall on magazine springs & S&W would send new springs. I suspect this is the cause of the stovepipes. You can probably buy replacement magazine springs from Brownells.
Appreciate the comparison ! I'd have to say that the SC appears to be the answer to a question no body has ever asked.
You aren't alone. Many parrot this sentiment. Many don't understand.
More mag capacity is a question nobody ever asked?
In the shield it’s only a +1-2 rounds vs 9mm, and considering how much more expensive it will be compared to 9, is it worth it?
@@usa-rb5fi Dude people all went flocking to the P365 and Shield Plus from guns like the Shield 2.0, so yeah… 2 rounds of mag capacity is significant when you’re talking about going from 8 to 10, or 10 to 12 round mags. And those are not bargain bin guns. Guarantee most of you P365/Hellcat/Shield Plus guys hating on .30 SC because of cost don’t shoot enough for the difference in 9mm and .30 SC to equal the price of the whole new gun you bought because it had 2 more rounds in the mag
More capacity, better penetration with at least 20% less measured recoil. A caliber that people preferred shooting over 9mm in blind tests?
My ex-wife and daughter are petite and 9mm is too much to train with, the .30SC is perfect.

Excellent comparison, hickok. It appeared to me that the .32 SC had less muzzle rise than the 9mm. I bought the Shield EZ in .380 last year after my 80 year old arthritic hands and shoulders racked the slide for the first time. The lady I take shooting sometimes liked the easy slide on the EZ, as well. Thank you for another great video... 😊
The best intro on RUclips...I love Hickok
Thanks for the review. This seems to be the only channel to do so. Lol. Since I own them all, my order of shooting enjoyment is 30sc, 380, then 9mm model. I rarely shoot rapid fire. The 380 is performance center and a pleasure to shoot. Usually the first gun I shoot. The last I'll shoot is the 30sc, kind of the dessert for the session. Mix in some wilson combat gripped sig p365's in 9mm and 380 to bring a smile.
Your channel works because the joy comes through.
Liking to shoot what you own is what it's all about. Those (other yt'ers and commenters) trying to tell others why someone shouldn't like to shoot a particular gun or a caliber is no help. Try before you buy, trade in what you don't like for something you do. If ya own just 1 gun, your probably new to firearms or don't shoot it. Just sayin.
.380 for the win...even though it got shortchanged a bit in this comparison.
.380 is slept on way too much
Agree. 10.5oz 13 shot LCP max is like black magic.
I have a few keltec 380's and I am shocked that little pistol is so incredibly accurate and I can shoot such a small mouse gun that effective, 380 seems to be an incredibly accurate round
Guys, I do like the grip safety. It seems to me that it can sure save you if you were to drop it and instinctly try and catch it. I understand the big hands with the compacts though. Another great video good sir!
Good thing it'll save you when you drop your loaded gun instead of when you have to shoot at an awkward position from being jumped in an alley way

The .30 super carry shield is the same size as the 9mm. I wish they and others would build a new gun around this cartridge. A double action hammer fired preferably one as narrow as the colt M1903 M1908 pistols. with a double stack mag. Wish SIG would make a .30 similar to a P938 with a narrow slide
S&W is a great company but they rushed this grip safety to production before having it properly field tested by a variety of shooters, both professional & amateur shooters.

Same here.
Great. Video. Have been curious about the .30 Super Carry.
Just picked up the Shield EZ in 30SC. Wasn't really in the market for one but was intrigued by its powerful velocity in a smaller caliber pistol.
My EDC is .357 SIG. It really kicks 'em out there but sometimes I just want to shoot without having to be reminded by my hand and elbow, of the energy it takes to gain the velocity to send 'em.
I'd buy 30 super before I'd buy 380. I might get a super small one if they make it. Somthing the size of the kahr cm9 in 30 super carry would be awesome
I'm not convinced this will take off that great. Similar power, similar ballistics, similar recoil, a couple extra rounds.
It won't touch the availability and price of 9mm.
The common calibers are over a century old. Doubtful anything new competes.
The whole idea of ammo/caliber evolution needs to take a frickin break for a couple decades. It's just getting ridiculous at this point.
@@The_Eastbound_Hyena why should we take a break on innovating freedom implementers and freedom seeds??? Are you a commie or something?

I’ve purchased several guns from watching H45’s videos, Sako Bavarian carbine, deluxe rifle, pre 64 and post 64 (Late model controlled feed) winchesters and several others. Wife keeps telling me I have enough guns (they don’t get it of course). Never owned an AK, but finally bought a Norinco under folder. Easy weapon to shoot. Still can’t bring myself to buy a glock, no rational reason not to, just kind of like a Prius I suppose. The gun counters anymore look like chunks of gun shaped charcoal in long rows. It is great that there are so many choices now for the pistolero, just kind of hard for me to tell them apart.
Greetings from TX from a “pistolero”!
I just wish they would have made the mag well a little thicker so it would use double stack mags.

My fiancé loves her EZ 9mm. I like it for her but I definitely prefer my Sig P365 for my edc.
I have one for each hand. Both great.
115 grains at 1150 fps is similar to many 9mm loads. It isn't on the powerful end of the scale but there are quite a few loaded around there.
I guess I am like you as far as hand size goes. I like a double stack 40 S&W or a double stack 45 in my hand. I have often thought that a semi-auto .30 carbine would be neat. but that might be a bit large even for me.

I sometimes carry a G33 myself, love .357 sig hate the ammo price lol.
The grip safety was a mistake from the start plus it makes it look bad. I wish federal waited for the 30 super carry until they caught up on 9mm and common production
They’re different production lines
9mm production is already at 150%
If they shut down the 30 sc line … there wouldn’t be any more 9mm
There would just be machinery they invested in not working and people at home collecting more UI

The 30 super Carry does not impress me. It's more expensive to practice with so I would get less practice with it which means I'm better off with just keeping the 9mm I already have because I can afford 9 mm.
If you take cost out of the equation, does 30 super hold advantages in your opinion?
Exactly
I am an old shooter with all the old age ailments. The last few years I find myself carrying a 380 EZ very often. With high performance ammo I do need feel under gunned.I have looked at the 9 EZ and it’s uncomfortable in my hand, so 380 it is.

I have since switched to the EZ 9 from the Performance Center. It has a different trigger profile than the standard one and is comfortable for me to shoot.
When ammo prices are higher than ever and shelves are empty you know its time to start "filling the gaps" with new cartridges that will be even harder to find and more expensive.
I couldn't agree more. Only in the U.S. would a company come out with a "30 Super Carry" cartridge that provides almost ZERO advantages over a common 9 mm round when we're in what might be called an "ammo crisis" right now. 9mm is too much for my ex-wife and daughter to train with, they're both very petite. I want them to carry as much gun as they can, that they shoot well and can train a lot with.
.30SC is perfect for them., and way better than .380.
I wish I had even a 3rd of the gun arsenal you have😩🔥🔫
Love my EZ shield 380
you do with the best when it comes to comparing them 💯🔥🔥💯
I have the EZ 9 and it's a great pistol. I have never had any issues with it. But the grip safety doesn't make sense, especially on a pistol that's made for people with weak grip strength to begin with. I also wish it came with night sights instead of the white dots.
Agreed. I have medium-sized hands and the grip safety is hard for me to engage as well. It's not because it's stiff, but it's shaped in a way that it's awkward to press.
DK Read my comment about adding a small stick on strip to the grip safety. It resolved the occasional FTF for us until S&W comes out with an update.
Remember the 365 was supposed to be released in 380 way back I wonder if it might become 30 super carry instead.
I think they just announced the sig p365 in .380 recently.
I just saw all the videos about it today.
@@eric6853 I saw it to I'm thinking they ditched the idea to run super carry instead.
Years ago the biggest games changer was the Sig P365 with 10+1 rounds instead of the usual 6+1 on a micro-compact. Now, the biggest game changer is the Shield Plus in 30 SC, where you are getting 16+1 rounds instead of 13+1 (only use the extended mags bc of big hands). Would I buy this if I had a 9mm Micro compact? Eh, maybe if I have $450 I don't need. Would I buy this if I was new to guns and didn't have a micro -compact? Without a doubt, yes. Who knows what life holds, 17 rounds instead of 14 could mean the difference between life or death someday. As Federal said, this is a round designed for every day carry, which is what we are all doing, not early 1900s war like the 9mm. Only gripe for me is the name - Georg Luger's Parabellum sounds so cool and 30 Super Carry sounds like something used in a 1970s casino by fat men wearing chains around their neck. And as always, well done on hitting that gong with a micro-compact. The only way I'd hit it is with a rifle. Your accuracy is amazing.
Thank you for the information and honestly! Very wise sir
I have been wanting one of these
I love your videos hickok45, but why do people say, "it's like comparing apples to oranges"? They are both round....both fruits....both sweet, both have seeds,...they are very similar in multiple ways....but hey, don't listen to me, I'm just busting balls here. It's my one day off this week, and my birthday is day after tomorrow, I've been looking into getting a new EDC, and typically look at your videos and Colin Noir videos to see what's up with certain tools. Keeps up the good work!
