For me, being a person who carried a Glock 19 for soooo long ..... it was a matter of what company would I rather support. For me ... Glock is made in Austria and has a corporate base here in the U.S. However, if you break it down to the bottom line .... if you buy a Glock ... your money goes back to Austria and supports a company that strongly supports the European Union and their Anti-Gun Agenda. S&W is based here in the U.S., hires only employees here in the U.S., and fights Anti-2A legislation.

Picked up the M&P 2.0 Compact last winter. Now have a couple thousand rounds through it. Zero problems of any kind. Comparing the two, there really is a clear winner. If you don't own either, the M&P is simply the stronger choice. Better ergonomics, better sights and about $100-$150 less money. Those advantages swamp the 3 ounce savings brought to the table by the Glock. Would I sell a Glock 19 to "upgrade" to the M&P? No. But if I could only have one, it would be the M&P.

The M&P has Steel Sights and a dovetailed front sight. Better grips. A beefed up frame. A real 1913 rail. Simple recoil spring. Side grip mag extraction if needed. Accuracy has been improved to Glock levels in the 2.0 and the trigger is equivalent now too. It's a solid choice. The 1.0's not so much.

Just ordered my M&P2.09C and yeah it’s 1,000,000% better than a Glock 19 any day of the week. American made, ~$100.00 less expensive, extremely reliable, more ergonomic comfort, plentiful numerous aftermarket mods, same capacity, just as concealable, better factory sights, better factory grip, better factory trigger, better factory design, looks better, feels better, shoots better, not a brick or ugly like a Glock, very under-hyped.... This is the true Glock 19 killer. Only minor complaint is the lack of a front slide serrations, but not a bid deal at all, and can get that done aftermarket if I really want it. Also while the trigger is a million times better than any Glock it’s not perfect but still excellent, also a minor complaint but aftermarket corrections if I really want it improved slightly more.

Hicock45 I think that the difference in weight is probably due to the metal reinforced frame in front of the fire block and that weight is negligible at best as far as felt weight, but I think it adds to the very flat shooting characteristic of the M&P as well as helping to mitigate felt recoil. Due to its frame being stiffened up I think that it also aids in the accuracy of the firearm as well. Fantastic review as always Sir.

My Concealed Carry weapon was a Ruger LC9s Pro. I have large hands just like you and while I could shoot the LC9 well enough for self defense I was never truly comfortable with it. Last summer, based on the strength of your review of the M&P 9c 2.0, I decided to replace that LC9 with one of these. I can't tell you how happy I am with that decision. The M&P9c 2.0 fits my hand so well that it feels like an extension of my hand and I can shoot it all day very accurately. Thank You for the great review. Keep up the great reviews. (I watched many other reviews of this gun along with yours but you just seem more convincing to me, more like I am listening to a good friend tell me about his new gun). By the way, I also found the new grip stippling to be a bit much so I simply grabbed some 200 grit sandpaper and knocked the sharp points off the stippling. Now it feels great.

I have the 40 caliber version for about a year now, absolutely love it. The only malfunctions i had with it was ammo induced, the S&B bullets some wouldn't even drop directly into the chamber. Never seen anything like that... But the gun itself not one malfunction.

Hickok, I like your videos because you just show us the gun, shoot it and maybe give your personal opinion. I have really grown tired of all the videos by these energy drink- drinking, bearded know-it-alls, trying to tell everyone which caliber is the best, how many rounds to carry to "win a gunfight", when none of them have even been remotely near a gunfight in their life, And how, by God, a 45 is the only thing to carry. You are a breath of fresh air, because you are real and not full of s**t.

I spent the better part of an hour on the phone last night with a friend of mine going back and forth on whether he was going to get an M&P 2.0 or a Glock 19. I’m talking about, I had the one page open, and he had the 4 inch S&W page open, and we were comparing the numbers haha! But I do give him credit for knowing exactly what he was looking for. Found an M&P 4 inch with the Ambi thumb safety for $490, in stock believe it or not!!! I told him to buy it right then and there.

  • @rbrtck
    @rbrtck 6 лет назад +3

The small difference in width accounts for part of the additional weight, and another factor is the M&P's steel chassis underneath its polymer frame. In other words, part of the frame is made of a steel-plastic composite rather than being all-plastic like the Glock's frame. This design decision was made in order to increase stiffness and reduce flexure during firing, for what that's worth. Other secondary factors include the backstrap (as you noted) and the frame tool. Neither of the latter weighs much, but all of these additional features weigh something, and apparently they add up to nearly 3 oz, which barely makes a difference in feel for me.

I purchased a full size m&p 2.0 from my local gun shop that flooded during hurricane florence. It sat under dirty swampy river water for 3 days. They took all the handguns dipped them in motor oil and sold them as is. I purchased mine new for 200$ took it home cleaned it up and it has functioned flawlessly. I purchased all the flooded 9mm ammo they had which was like 5000rds. I ran close to 1000rds of flooded ammo threw the 2.0 with no issues. It's definitely a keeper. I also purchased a few other handguns and ammo like a colt rail gun and a cimarron 1911 and havnt had any issues with them.

When I retired from the PD I’d been carrying an issued Glock for a few years & shot it well. A few years after retiring I got the M&P 2.0 Compact & discovered I liked it better than the Glock, w/the exception of the south-paw slide release (I’m a leftie), and continue to use it for LEOSA (retiree) qualification & just plain range time fun. I learned to sling shot the slide when reloading so it’s not a big deal.

M&P 9c is definitely my favorite carry gun. My only gripe is the lip on the magazine base plate. It just makes it a little weird getting an indexed grip on your mags during faster reloads.
Besides that I would definitely say that it does everything a Glock does equally as well or better.

A few things... Looks like the Glock is about $100 more... Plus I prefer the metal mags of the M&P over the plastic ones on the Glock... Also... blueslurker1 the EZ is much smaller and tends to fit smaller hands better. I believe it is a single stack .380, it has a grip safety similar to a 1911 or a Springfield XD, also I think the trigger design is a little different than other M&P pistols but I’m not sure how and I don’t think different means any more or less quality. I think it has a smoother recoil impulse and like you said the recoil spring is not as stiff so it’s easier to charge. If anyone knows better and I am mistaken on this please send it!!

    • @matthewhartup941

I ended up getting an M2.0 Compact. One word, amazing. Grip texture is perfect just like on my 5 inch M2.0s. Trigger is excellent as well. No need for an Apex as far as I’m concerned. I ran it back to back with my P320c and I must say I prefer the M2.0C. I never thought I would say that. The M2.0C ran perfect straight out of the box. I was using some hot NATO spec 124 gr ammo and it is soft shooting. Also ran some Gold 124gr +P and it was still a pleasure to fire.
This was a great value for me since I got it at from Buds (Qualified Professional), came with 3 mags and will be getting in on the Nation’s Finest rebate! In the end I will have paid well under $400 and it is beyond worth that. I held a Gen 5 Glock 19 and was not impressed. The flared mag well digs into my hand was the main thing I did not like.

The compact will be my EDC as soon as my Clinger holster arrives. The m2.0 has great ergonomics. I love the grip texture. This purchase completes my MP family. I have a Shield in 9mm and the first gen full size. Settled on Trijicon HD sights with orange front.
