I've had a Viper PST gen 2 1-6 for about 5 years that I have been pretty rough on and it's given me no issues. Granted it's not anywhere near this and the rectile is extremely basic. But it just works and the illumination is daylight bright. I know Primary Arms has some decently priced scopes that seem to be decent quality as well. If I had the funds I would pick up one of these Razors as well.
I don’t spend top dollar on much, but I do have a Razor Gen III 1-10x Mil. It’s a bit tricky to get the right combo of diopter setting and mount position to reduce distortion, but once you get it squared away, it’s a great optic.
@TTime685 I got mine for specific purposes. I need 10x for shooting groups at 100-300 yards. I also wanted bright illumination for close in shooting. It does both well. All optics are compromises. ACOGS are extremely durable but have no diopter adjustment and a very tight eyebox. Also, the binden technique for cqb is questionable. Most other LPVO's, with the except a handful, lack true daylight bright illumination. Many of the ones that do use wire reticles that limit their design.
After checking out the optics planet retail on this guy i was instantly reminded of an old front 242 song that i used to like when i was in high school..."hey poor, you dont have to be poor anymore!!!"...😢😂
With my sliiight astigmatism, this scope gives me a fisheye effect on 1x. For anyone else who has this problem, I would recommend the 2-10x or 3.6-18x mark 5hd with red dot on top OR ACOG with red dot on top. These have been my favorites, so I can still shoot parallax free 1x red dots for up close and get down on my scope for engaging targets at distance. Thanks Chad
Just adjust your diopter properly.... Literally every LPVO on the market will give a fisheye effect at 1x out of the box. Adjusting the diopter is almost equally important of a setting as the adjustable turrets.
I got a cheap scope tube mount for an RMR and mounted an RMR at 12:00 on the scope and love it. I can practically move around in high search mode and see it both eyes open. I've made hits out to 200 yds with it fairly easy.
I run a strike eagle with the same reticle and focal plane. The only downside is that its a 1-8, I've put it through the wringer and its held flawlessly. It didn't cost a mortgage payment like the razor though, so i didn't feel like an asshole painting it either.
You gotta give the primary arms PLX-C 1-8 raptor acss / yards, 5.56/.308 version. It’s got the same features as far as the BDC, except it’s tuned for 77gr 5.56 out of a 14.5/16” barrel with a 50 yard zero, has 3 different ways for ranging a 5’-10…object. Then, it has BDC’s too , but they also coincide with average male shoulder width @ that distance, since a lot of times you’re not gonna see head to toe, but rather just a pair of shoulders and a head with a rifle in there. Then, whatever line correlates to the shoulder width ? That’s the line you use to shoot for that distance. It also has an an entire manual just for the reticle , and tells you how to zero it and what your BDC’s mean based on what caliber / barrel length / projectile weight you’re shooting. Obviously it can’t cover them all , but damn it covers a lot It’s also $1500, and regularly goes on sale for $1275. Primary Arms keeps a lot of Texans employed, and a lot of Americans armed. Awesome company.
When this scope first came out, it was $1,999.00. And at THAT price it was an okay buy. But then they raised the price to $2,400.00, which is almost the cost of a Nightforce ATACR 1-8x (a much better scope overall)! There is NO WAY this scope with what they currently want for it!
I can 100% recommend the PLx-C from primary arms. It runs $1500 USD but you can frequently find it for 20% off w/ free shipping if you check often enough. Can still easily make hits out to 600-700 & it’s 17 Oz 🫡
I have the Strike Eagle. I know it’s for us poors, but it works well, same warranty, and unless the zombies come, I’m not planning on dragging it through the mud. Same warranty though, but that won’t do you any good if it fails when you need it. I just can’t afford an optic 4x my mortgage. One of these days…
I prefer the new trijicon credo 1-10. Love it, glass is superb has a nice exposed turret with a zero stop, capped windage. I got a custom turret from kenton for it matched to 77 grain imi razor core. Fantastic setup. Got mine for $1500 shipped.
The 1-8 Trijicon Accupower is a good piece of glass. Picked one up for $800, and it’s been serving me well. For people who can’t afford the Razor 1-10, try finding the old 1-6 Razor, I still have one on an 18” barreled rifle of mine and it works just as good as the day I got it. With Vortex, don’t go cheap, the PST line isn’t Japan made and even though it has a lifetime guarantee, too, I don’t find them nearly as robust.
I’m running a bullet proof primary arms slx 5x prism with an offset red dot. Got about 550$ in the whole setup. Got a good 5 power for short distance and a up close red dot I can hammer out to 80 yrds easy.
Super Duty is the best value for a premium level AR15. When you look at the specs, all the parts, finishes, etc. it’s tough to beat. Especially if you catch a sale. I have a 14.5, kind of a do everything carbine.
I run a 1-8 atacr. Very good optic, probably my favorite lpvo reticle. As with all lpvo’s, the diopter MUST be dialed to your eye for a good sight picture on the bottom as well as the top. Heavy as shit tho.
You really need to look into Arken optics. I have a few including the 1-8 LPVO which has the BDC in the reticle. They are a excellent bang for the buck and the company is owned by a former Navy Seal
I owe 3 of the Arken Optics 1-8 LPVOs and they’re great! While the scope is made in China, the glass is Japanese and extremely clear. I dialed two of them in recently without issue. I especially like their BDC design (I got the MOA version - which is what I’m use to) it’s very simple to understand. Don’t get me wrong, if I had that kind of disposable income, I’d buy that Vortex. I own a number of Vortex Optics, Range Finders, Spotting Scopes, etc., and their quality is incredible, and they have one of the best warranties in the business. Thanks for putting the video up.
@@Gmny1MOAyou will not be disappointed. I’ve had my Arken SH4 gen out to 1710yds, the glass is clear, the tracking is perfect, it holds zero and I’ve been using it for 2 years now without any issues

This optic, Nightforce ATACR, and the Trijicon VCOG are all super tough. The problem with all three is price though. Eotech's Vudu is probably the cheapest LPVO that is durable from my experience.
Great LPVO for sure. My wife and I work full time and have one child. We don’t keep up with the Jones’s like our co-workers. We live within our means. Wish I could afford that. Does that make me a turd?
Did the instructions say to zero at 50 yards with 55 grain bullets for the holdovers to be accurate? Does it offer guidance in case you’re shooting a 62 grain bullet at a different initial zero?
How about reviewing a more affordable scope? Perhaps one with a second focal plane or different manufacturer that is still reliable and durable. Maybe a Vortex Viper 1-6? I do love the Vortex no-nonsense warranty. I see this item is 2500 online at OP.
I wonder why nobody makes attachments for these scopes that you could have attached to its end and perhaps give you better zoom or night vision, thermal imaging, green iridium light, or red.
I've used the 1-10 a bit, it's a really good optic. I bet if more people took preparedness seriously, there'd be a lot less complaining about the cost.
I would trade my Nightforce 1X8 for this scope sight unseen. Nightforce claims they produced a 1X8 FFP but in reality it’s a 1X6 cuz the higher power 8 zoom is trash. Granted I bought the less expensive version on sale at $1500 but never imagined I had to pay another G for actual power settings.
Hold on a minute here. I get the scope is great but did anyone else notice the absolutely pristine grass behind him when he was talking about first phorm? Was he on a golf course?
I know people swear by LPVO’s, and how popular they are. Maybe I need to get more time behind them? But every one I’ve looked through, to me, proper sight acquisition just takes way too long. Finding the right eye relief to get that nice full picture, chasing away the parallax, all that black shifting on the edge..then once I got it, any movement and it’s gone. I don’t really get that with a dedicated scope, obviously not with a red dot or eotech…or with a magnifier, or with an acog. I’ll say that’s just me. I’m definitely not the most high speed low drag person. Recognizing my own slowness and deficiencies I stick with what works for me…the eotechs, aimpoints some with magnifiers, and an Acog on one setup. Vortex crossfire on a dedicated rifle. But me and LPVOS’ just don’t mix well. If time was of the essence, I can’t deal with hunting around an extra few seconds for a good picture.
Did I see the illustration right? Is the reticle only partially illuminated? That's my complaint against so many of Primary Arms scopes, (I don't have the mooney to play with the more exalted brands). If I need or want a reticle, I need it to be fully illuminated, not merely listed as illuminated when only only part of it actually is. Anyone looking across a bean field at dusk trying to shoot a deer in front of a rapidly-shadowing treeline will know why an illuminated "doughnut" just doesn't cut the mustard.
I'm glad to see that you were able to install it facing the right direction!
Got to watch those Navy guys.

Nice to hear a good review from someone who has actually uses it hard. You get what you pay for.
Excellent scope man but the SIG LPVO 1-10 FFP works pretty well and takes a beating. Just chiming in but Vortex makes some good stuff.
I’m running a bullet proof primary arms slx 5x prism with an offset red dot. Got about 550$ in the whole setup. Got a good 5 power for short distance and a up close red dot I can hammer out to 80 yrds easy.
They make quality stuff
They have great optics and you don't halft to blow 5 grand
I use speed drop method on my prs rig (7mm prc) Turns my mil scope to a back, I use the 0.2 mil error instead of 0.1, gives me a greater range.
Super Duty is the best value for a premium level AR15. When you look at the specs, all the parts, finishes, etc. it’s tough to beat. Especially if you catch a sale. I have a 14.5, kind of a do everything carbine.
Dude you're not talking to your target audience with the price of that scope. Your sponsor should have a talk with you.
Former Navy Seal Sniper owns Arken. Try you some Arken. If you want to try mine on my rifles I’d be happy to come down from NC and share.
Lies
@@JamesDean-84 how so?
Arken pays their shills very well (I’ve heard)
@@Hbest2019 I get nothing, just a very satisfied paying customer.
I run a 1-8 atacr. Very good optic, probably my favorite lpvo reticle. As with all lpvo’s, the diopter MUST be dialed to your eye for a good sight picture on the bottom as well as the top.
Heavy as shit tho.
Ive been looking at LPVOs to put on my AR... Saw the title of this video and got excited to hear your input... got sad when I saw the price
I'd like to know your thoughts on the Primary Arms Compact PLxC 1-8X24 FFP.
It’s GTG
It's lighter.
You really need to look into Arken optics. I have a few including the 1-8 LPVO which has the BDC in the reticle. They are a excellent bang for the buck and the company is owned by a former Navy Seal
I want one of these bad to try it out...wish I could look at one without having to buy it
As someone that has one and loves it, I was definitely sketchy about it given them allegedly buying reviews
They're nice yeah but man they are HEAVY
If I was gonna pay that kind of money ide buy leupold or night force! Hell my mark five HD 2-25-56 for my 7mag was only $2,300!
You mentioned the optic being the most important thing you put on a rifle. I would include a quality mount/rings with that.
😂
Arken EL8 1-8x28mm FFP. Still working
Eotech Vudo 1x10 LPVO is a great alternative comes in around $1500-$1700. Compared to $2400-$2700.
Thank you, Chadd.
The Marine Corps used to train us to shoot 500 yards with iron sights. Have we gotten too reliant on technology?
Realistically you are going to be fighting robots who don't miss.
@@MeMyself-gf7fnRealistically? No tf we won’t .
How do you PID targets at 500 with irons? Paper or steel is one thing, but how can you tell friend from foe?
Our sheriff department (LASD)had us qualify with both Eotecs and iron sights on our M4’s. And our targets turned.
1/4 dachshund must be real hard 🙄
It’s a good thing u got Blake there to mount the optics properly. We know how u navy guys would run ur optics without proper help lol
Hey Chadd, thanks for sharing....I just wanted to say, while you are on here, right now I see over 2100 views of your post, BUT only 338 "Thumbs Up"....I do not know if it matters to 3 of 7 project, but I do not think it will hurt anyone if you asked everyone once or twice during the video to quickly hit the "Thumbs Up"....I just saw that I forgot to do that just now watching the video from yesterday....Thanks again, love y'all....00 out!
No complaints with my VCOG, can’t see mounting a 1x10 on an AR15
This optic, Nightforce ATACR, and the Trijicon VCOG are all super tough. The problem with all three is price though. Eotech's Vudu is probably the cheapest LPVO that is durable from my experience.
Great LPVO for sure. My wife and I work full time and have one child. We don’t keep up with the Jones’s like our co-workers. We live within our means. Wish I could afford that. Does that make me a turd?
I run a acog x4 m193 with canted iron sights 16" 62gr colt LE 6920 similar to your built. Nice setup by the way.
Did the instructions say to zero at 50 yards with 55 grain bullets for the holdovers to be accurate? Does it offer guidance in case you’re shooting a 62 grain bullet at a different initial zero?
My Steiner military after I zeroed it 5 years ago havent touched it. And it has been dropped and through multiple carbine classes. And half the cost
How about reviewing a more affordable scope? Perhaps one with a second focal plane or different manufacturer that is still reliable and durable. Maybe a Vortex Viper 1-6? I do love the Vortex no-nonsense warranty. I see this item is 2500 online at OP.
So refreshing to see a former Navy man that doesn't have his scope on backwards.
I live in New England Lots of woods no need beyond 200 Yards Go Sig red dot..
I know this is Off-topic but have you had any experience with the watchtower firearms?
Big fan of Vortex. Quality products but some products are priced better than others.
I'd recomend the 1-10 LPVO from Athlon as a comparable alternative.
Thanks for all your hard work super doggy. The intel is priceless. Cheers!
It’s more than double the price of my Daniel defense. Dammit!!!
How does he keep a straight face?
I still use a USO SR-8C 1-8. Heavier than some, but a great scope.
I wonder why nobody makes attachments for these scopes that you could have attached to its end and perhaps give you better zoom or night vision, thermal imaging, green iridium light, or red.
On my scopes I like first focal plane scopes . Knight force 1x8
I've used the 1-10 a bit, it's a really good optic.
I bet if more people took preparedness seriously, there'd be a lot less complaining about the cost.
Nice to see a guy from the Navy getting that scope of the right way.
Lol!
I've seen this scope with a very nice mount for 2500, not insane, just the top of the line
You can get gen 2 1x6 for less than a thousand used. Same glass just not as much zoom
Can you get one at walmart or do i have to drive all the way to academy sports. Gas prices are through the roof
They don't even sell these puppies at academy...way too expensive to sit on a display
@@Gmny1MOA I was joking man
I have 2. They are awesome
Just wondering, will it be easy to mount one on my psa rifle?
😭😭
What specific ammo are you using and why. Why not 62 grain m855 or the 77 grain?
Why did you go with the moa model over the mrad ?
Challenge: try out an Arken EP-8
Did I see the illustration right? Is the reticle only partially illuminated? That's my complaint against so many of Primary Arms scopes, (I don't have the mooney to play with the more exalted brands).
If I need or want a reticle, I need it to be fully illuminated, not merely listed as illuminated when only only part of it actually is. Anyone looking across a bean field at dusk trying to shoot a deer in front of a rapidly-shadowing treeline will know why an illuminated "doughnut" just doesn't cut the mustard.
Great timing. My neighbors are sighting in their rifles at the moment. Already destroyed one scope. 😂
I have the strike eagle 1-8 but i want to get this one. I found it for 2k last time i looked but i was gona get for a ar10 i plan on getting.
Dude, did Vortex give you that reticle?
