    For the budget conscious;
    Just bought a Larue MBT-2S for $115 to the door. For the price, it's hard to beat. At any price, its as good as my Knight's two stage. The SSA-E is slightly lighter and shorter. But I put the heavier spring in the Larue anyways to try it out. And I kind of like it for a general purpose carbine. First stage is more deliberate, break feels the same, pushier reset. But i bought it for a 20" fluted stainless build, so I'll probably run the light spring.

    I would have to agree with Chadd on this topic the trigger is always my first upgrade and I will spend as much as needed to get the very best trigger available , I just put a ALG trigger in my ZPAP/ M-70 and it is now a completely different rifle a complete novice 15 year old Girl accompanied myself and Granddaughter to the range last week and after all the safety lectures , I gave her a minute to watch my granddaughter warm up the rifle and just get familiar with the function of a AKM and once she found out that she was left eye dominant , I gave the run down on operation of the rifle and she shot outstanding for a complete newbie after realizing that she was crowding the scope and deciding how to hold the rifle with the support hand that fit her best she was grouping very well , the trigger made a huge difference as the break is so clean , I wouldn't let her touch the trigger until fully sighted on target , coached her breathing and said slide the trigger finger in and slowly squeeze on exhale , it was very rewarding to watch a Day One Novice smile at her target when finished !

    Chad, right-on brother! I have modified and improved the triggers on every firearm I own (except for my expensive Italian over/under sporting shotgun). You are 100% correct in your analysis of the reason for inaccuracy. The hand is a complicated piece of machinery with some fairly strong muscles involved. When shooting a rifle from a rest, bipod or barricade I have learned to remove my powerful thumb from the opposite side of the grip and place it on the top of the stock or next to the trigger finger to eliminate the tendency to tighten grip. Works every time.

    • @apersonontheinternet8006
      @apersonontheinternet8006 6 месяцев назад +1

      Most people hold their rifles and hand guns wrong, crappy triggers still shoot straight. Your shooting hand should be doing about 20% of the work holding your firearm, your support hand should be doing the bulk of supporting the firearm. That full engagement of your shooting hand actually hinders the actuation of the trigger finger.

When I joined the USMC in 1984 we didn’t have anything but iron sights which was fine with me. 5th award rifle expert, 5 award pistol expert for the 5 years I was in. I may be a little heavier than I was in “The Suck” but I can still pick up a weapon and be on target at 500 meters, with iron sights. BRASS breath, relax, aim, sight and squeeze the trigger. This has worked for me for the past 50 plus years. ACOGS are great until they fail. Always have a back up set of sights you can use if you have to.

After that came the light, then the cool guy stuff like the optic cut slide and the dot. For my rifle, it came with a nice 2 stage trigger that breaks at ~4 lbs and resets quickly. All the visible upgrades for it have been bolt-ons. Optics, light, bipod the usual stuff. The biggest invisible upgrades for it have been stuff to increase reliability. @@ScaredyCatTactical very true. But if you take enough beta alanine, it can be effective. Another beneficial supplement for strength and conditioning is caffeine. Lots of studies indicate that it can help with both strength training and cardio based training. But of course, probably not great to take if you work out at night. For people that care about hypertrophy over pure strength gains, L citrulline can be beneficial for increasing blood flow and making "the pump" more intense. There's some studies that show the pump can actually be beneficial in growing muscle size over time, so L cit isn't a bad thing to have in your pre workout stack either.

    Inflammation caused by diet or injury is the number one reason for spikes in insulin and developing fat

    • @Dr.I.C.Spots247
      @Dr.I.C.Spots247 6 месяцев назад +2

      A diet that brings in more calories than is used during a given time period consecutively is the number one reason for fat gain, not insulin or inflammatory foods. These can cause issues in the body and are not great for a healthy lifestyle. If you eat 10x your body weight in calories, you will not get fat even if you eat pizza and Pop tarts everyday. Fat is actually easier to store than carbs because it has to go through less process in the body to be stored when in a calorie surplus. The key to health is finding your BMR, consuming that most of the time, and avoiding inflammation from processed foods. Your calorie intake will change depending on goals for body composition. A surplus of 200 to 300 a day during hypertrophy training to build muscle mass or 200 to 300 cal deficit for fat loss. Keep protein intake at .8 to 1.2 grams per lbs body weight and let the rest of your intake fall where it needs to be for your goal.

      @@Dr.I.C.Spots247 this was true when I was younger and jumping out of planes and doing running and sweating everyday, but the injuries eventually caught up to me and the inflammation in my knees and back constantly triggered a response from my body and I could no longer eat like I used to and keep weight off, majority of Americans are training to be athletes and their lifestyle doesn’t require them to, and the over processed foods that Americans eat is causing inflammation and diseases like fatty liver and screwing with people’s thyroids and insulin levels which then cause obesity, could I eat 4 mres at 3,000 calories apiece when I was training or in combat with no repercussions because my body needed them? Yep, could I do it now and not turn into a blob? No way! Not disagreeing with your response, I totally agree with it, I just think for the vast majority of people living the lifestyle they do, diet should be the first thing they change🤷🏻‍♂️

      Spikes of insulin are caused by ingesting lots of carbs, which in itself doesn't cause inflammation. Unless those carbs have gluten and you have celiac disease or some similar autoimmune issue, of course. Developing fat is generally tied to caloric excess over extended periods of time, which is linked to poor dietary choices and sedentary lifestyles. Some of the longterm impacts of those poor dietary and lifestyle choices can have downstream effects that eventually result in increased inflammation, such as arthritis in your knees from being 400 lbs. But inflammation itself isn't causing insulin spikes nor obesity. And nobody gets fat because they get injured, they get fat because they stop being active once injured. People who work around their injury and stay active are able to maintain a decent level of fitness.
      You also complain about not being able to eat like you used to when you're younger, and that's absolutely a thing but has nothing to do with inflammation. Our metabolisms slow as we age, and our capacity to work hard also decreases. At the same time, for men, testosterone levels fall, meaning that even if you stay the same weight you lose muscle and gain fat. But that's because you're getting old, not because you have inflammation or injuries. It would happen even if you never got hurt and ate a perfectly clean diet.

    • @BonerPillVet
      @BonerPillVet 6 месяцев назад

      @@theKashConnoisseur Consuming excessive amounts of refined carbs, such as white bread and french fries, can cause inflammation in the body.3 Rapidly digested carbohydrates, also known as starch carbohydrates, cause blood sugar to spike and the pancreas to produce a large load of insulin.1 Traditional, unrefined carbs like whole wheat and seeds have a smaller chance of inflammation.3 Carb-rich foods in their whole state or minimally processed are packed with powerful antioxidants and bioactive compounds that can prevent free radical damage and reduce inflammation.2 Reducing carb intake does not automatically mean cutting inflammation, but getting rid of sugar and carb-rich junk food is a valuable anti-inflammatory change. However, reducing carb intake does not automatically mean cutting inflammation.

    I always dry fire and rack the firearm to break in the trigger, then clean up wearing surfaces, a safe polish job that doesn’t mess with sear engagement, then shoot a lot, and then modify or replace trigger components. Most of this can be done without firing any rounds, because I know many of us are on a budget. AR15 milspec triggers can have the sear surfaces mated and pull with less pounds if you remove the lower, pull up on the hammer with a piece of paracord while engaging the trigger and pulling the trigger under the tension , only takes a few times . There’s also a grip retaining screw for the AR that has a trigger stop and helps with shorter reset, and cheap springs to lower the weight.

In the 1911 I use various hammers, triggers and EGW sears and disconnectors. I like 2 stage triggers in the AR because they are so much like the 1911. You are right about the importance of the trigger, however I think it takes a backseat to functional reliability. which isn't really something you can count on out of the box these days.

    Thus far I've only changed the trigger in some of my rifles. I got a couple Romanian SAR-1 AKMs that had horrendous triggers with a mean slap on the reset. For years, I either endured it or wore gloves to pad my fingers. I finally swapped out the triggers on these rifles with replacements from ALG. Night and day difference. It's so smooth and soft now, the first time I fired it, I actually jumped from the surprise at how smooth it was. After that, it was just smiles as it was a joy to shoot. I liked it so much, I got the ALG ACT trigger for my Sig M400 Tread AR15 to improve the "mil spec" trigger it came with. It was adequate but I just wanted to improve it as I couldn't see enjoying the trigger on an AKM more than a AR15. Also, is "mil spec" in regards to triggers just code for "heavy"?
