      How so? It offered everything that they asked for it to option, the fact that it did so more cheaply is merely a plus. They wanted a fully modular gun that be modified by the user to become different sizes or grip sizes. ✔️
      Large external safety that was easily operated. ✔️
      Glock had neither of those and really few of the others did either.

    • @DaveSmith-cp5kj
      @DaveSmith-cp5kj 2 года назад +8

      @@soonerfrac4611 Sig isn't a modular gun if you have to replace almost every single part to change calibers (better to just have two guns), and Glock's offering for the MHS did have a manual safety which was offered in older glock models and worked well (it was phased out though because the Glock doesn't need a manual safety). The P320 didn't even pass the reliability test (as later resulted in the drop issue, which was later fixed), but the entire testing came to a halt as soon as Sig announced their dirt cheap prices. I do think Sig was the right choice as the Army could have even gone with a hi point and still have been fine since handguns aren't very common in the military, but with Sig offering their handgun with holsters and everything at basically the price of a hi point, it was a deal too good to pass up.

      I had a friend who had a Desert Eagle in .44 and one of their 1911’s. I don’t know if Desert Eagle still makes a 1911 or not. The regular Desert Eagle worked like crap on a good day. It was his second one. He had one in .357 before and it wasn’t any good. Funny thing though was his Desert eagle 1911 was awesome, maybe the best 1911 either of us has shot. It had a very smooth action, was accurate and didn’t have a single stoppage. Which made us wonder why Desert Eagle doesn’t switch their production to just 1911’s and drop all there other models.

The only issue I ever had was mag related and that was using aftermarket magazines, which sometimes cause a double feed and rarely has last round slide lock, but factory mags, no issues at all. My 2.0 I purposely refused to clean it all of last year and that damn thing just would not quit, even after getting it so hot, I couldn't touch the slide and after a few cases of ammo, and one case ammo was wolf which is pretty dirty. Hollow points, 115-147 grain, it ate it all. The 2.0 is the last handgun I'll need...until I get the M&P 5.7, lol.

      As a CZ guy and more specifically hammer fired CZ guy, I think that came down more to luck than anything inherent to the design anyway. It's unfortunately hard to control for where specifically the water hits the gun, at what angle, how and where it splashes. That is unless you build a water spray rig in which you place a gun in the middle so that water is sprayed onto each gun from the same angles and for the exact same duration, or just fully submerge each gun. This means even if there's a massive ingress point for water if you don't hit it just right it'll be fine, or if it isn't a wide ingress point but you hit it at just the right angle it still gets f*cked.

    • @ExpeditionaryRanger

      @@BringerOfD AGree. Perhaps a more reasonable test to the skin walker hunting scenario would be to dip each gun into a bucket of water for 5 seconds, then remove and hang with barrels pointing straight down to freeze in that orientation... more similar to crawling out of the water and having the gun pointing down in a holster allowing water to drain from the barrel, while allowing full immersion and equivalency between pistols. Maybe that's ridiculously too difficult for any pistol... except for a CZ of course... :op. A Walther PPQ NAvy would have been interesting here also.

This is Chicago - im not worried about sand getting in my gun like they apparently do. I got more metal on mine so if shit hits the fan and I cant properly brace it completely, its not going to stove pipe jam my casing because it has enough heft to cycle completely. Ive limp wristed it on purpose before hell bent on a stove pipe - fires every time. Cannot say the same for a Glock 22 that I fired slightly loose and the spent casing got bit and held in the slide.

    The reason the M18 still worked: Something I noticed with them is when the trigger is at rest there is very little gap between the trigger and the frame because there's a big flat piece at the top of the trigger that is almost flush with the hole the trigger goes through. Most guns have a big giant opening that the trigger just passes through, and the trigger doesn't totally fill and seal up that hole like the trigger on the sig does, so there's a big opening for water to get inside.

    • @TheAnnoyingBoss

      Isn't the sig the only one with that weird modular serialized drop in trigger group assemblies?

      @1nfamyX 2 года назад +1

      Yes. If youve ever pocket carried like an absolute heathen, smash the like button, but also you wouldve noticed that lint & dust & pocket sand can easily get into the gun that way.
      Now its not a huge problem under most normal circumstances, but because it is one of the few susceptible areas, it would be interesting to see a kind of simple polymer dust cover that moves with the trigger as it traverses the gap perhaps

    M&P's (especially Gen 2's) are actually really decent pistols, my last Contract we had M&P 40's and they worked great in the harsh north Midwest (sub-arctic line/ zone) winters. The Gen 1's had some quality control issues especially with the polymer lowers' manufacturing inconsistencies along with the ambi-slide catches occasionally shearing off, never had problems with mine though (I also used grease instead of oil for lubricant which helped keep it running when it was covered in snow and ice).

      I've long considered picking up a 2.0 to replace my Ruger Security 9 as my full-size winter carry gun. Just haven't had much reason to spend the money. Lol. I have a shield plus as my EDC, just prefer to carry full size whenever it's convenient.

      Shields are nice too, I usually carry a Glock for my CCW but those and M&P's I really enjoy in a full size frame-- AND the ergonomics of the M&P grip are really comfortable to me.

    I love these ridiculous test. Really shows how resilient modern firearms are, and the optics. I will admit - I wasn't a fan / didn't pay any attention to the M&P series till I got a Full size .40 w/ apex trigger in trade a while back - and I was completely wrong about them. I really enjoy shooting the thing.

      @@Wolf_Larsen Considering my collection includes just about every popular caliber from the 1600s to modern - I don't get hung up on the idiocy of what qualifies as a "trendy" or popular cartridge these days. Anytime anyone critiques a popular cartridge with cutesy and whimsical adaptation of it's name - I just roll my eyes. .40 S&W is easy to find, reasonably cheap, goes bang, and pokes holes in things that I point it at. It isn't a "bad" cartridge by any stretch. Besides - when 40 fell out of popularity a few years ago, I bought thousands and thousands of rounds dirt cheap (cheaper than 9mm per round at the time when 9mm was .25 cents a round.) I guess if you are a one or two gun kinda person - there are better options, but I won't turn down a good shooting firearm in a capable and easy to get cartridge for cheap. Diversity is the spice of life - and I like opening my safes and having a lot of options.

      Ridiculous? I don't know. Was tracking a deer once in deep winter, following the trail in the snow. It went through a small gully up tge other side, so down I went. About half way through I find out that the gully was 4 feet of iced over water and I go for a bath. I kept my rifle up out of instinct, but everything below my ribs froze within a minute of climbing out. My Gerber multitool wouldn't even slide open and it was in its sheath.
