My Cactus & other Succulents Greenhouses Tour, Botanical Garden Aarhus

- Please join me on my tour of the four greenhouses of the botanical gardens in Aarhus, Denmark, in particular to see the various cacti and other succulent plants. There is a fantastic selection of various cacti, including Echinocactus, Opuntia, Pilosocereus, Cephalocereus, Leucostele, Selenicereus as well as other succulent plants from the Americas and Africa, including Euphorbias, Agaves, Aloes, Lithops, Haworthias, Gasterias, etc. There is an incredible Century Plant (Agave americana) which is over 45 years old, there is a giant Dragons Blood Tree (Dracaena draco) from the Canary Islands, a huge Elephants Foot Yucca (Yucca gigantea) from Central Americas, and many, many more fabulous plants to see! A very special attraction is the domal greenhouse housing an entire tropical rainforest jungle ecosystem, truly spectacular!

Wow Joe!!! Awesome tour !!!!! Thanks for taking us along!! Great cactus and succulents!!! I remember seeing agaves like this when I lived in Southern California and Arizona. Such massive plants!! I have both the blue and variagated form. Luckily pots kinda control size. My blue are very tiny compared to the monsters in that greenhouse!! Like seeing plants like bottbrush & eucalyptus. We had those in California also. Different color cultivars of the bottle brush, cool plants!! They really have an awesome xerophytic collection there ! Better than St Louis Botanical gardens!! Wow!! Great that you visited Denmark and grasped the opportunity to visit the botanical garden with its greenhouses there 👍🏻 And amazing, that there wasn't even an entrance fee.
I really liked your walk-through commentary and also the music which fitted well to the respective themes 😄
Pelargoniums are indeed amazing plants, I also have one in a hanging basket that I managed to overwinter last year and which bloomed all summer long and even now has still some beautifully bright flower buds left 🤩
The collection of cacti was of course fabulous. And you're right, these Opuntia glochids are indeed deadly, haha 😅

I come from the cactus and succulent world and once had the largest collection of highly succulent Asclepiadaceae in eastern Germany. wonderful plants. Unfortunately, after the move, the new greenhouse was no longer bright enough. Today I look with sadness at every Stapelia, cactus or mesem. But I have found a nice balance, Cryptocorynen, and like you, I run an ideo channel for it. I'll subscribe to your channel first. Greetings Helge@@cactusjoe

I notice a lot of scales on cactee and on some euphorias. It's sad that they not treat them.
I'm sure it's not intentional, and they are treating, just shows how difficult it can be to keep large collections under glass completely pest free. Thanks for watching and commenting 😊🌵🌿🌺🌼🪴
