Still learning great tips from you Lyn, even after years of watching your channel. Very good to know about the Euphorbia Horrida. From all my Euphorbias, I keep it nearest my drafty balcony door during the Winter. Apparently that is the best Euporbia to pick for that unfortunate spot then : ) Best wishes
So happy you are learning tips from my vids Nathalie :-D thats perfect you have your Euphorbia horrida by your drafty balcony door haha, this Euphorbia is definitely one of the much cold hardier ones, thanks so much Nathalie for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comments and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from Belfast to Dublin for a brilliant Sunday today XXXX
Your collection amazes me everytime I see it. It shows experience on your end, grown with all that wisdom within each cactus and the age that each cactus displays. Just look at those specimens!!! I've been growing 11 years now, and it amazes me with what I've learned from experience is so similar to yours. I too stop water in Sept, and start rewatering in April (of course weather depending). I too keep mine bone dry. I don't have a polytunnel or greenhouse, hopefully one day soon, so mine all must come indoors. I live in the states, where we get all 4 seasons, and today is literally the first day of fall... winter approaches. They're still outside, we havnt had any frost yet... but believe me, it's getting close!!!! Almost time to bring them in!!! I constantly check my weather app, I can't take any chances if there's any rain predicted. I bring them under the porch to keep them dry. A good rain now could very well be a death sentence!! Happy keeping!
So happy that your experience growing cacti is so similar to mine too, and thats fantastic you have been growing your collection for 11 years, growing these awesome plants really is so rewarding to do, I can't believe that its Fall already now, the Summer has flown faster than Concorde this year haha, I have had to move in all my cacti hanging up in the yard into the polytunnel now as we are getting a lot of rain, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a super Sunday today XXXX

Hi Lyn and Hans. Thanks for sharing another great video and smart knowledge and experience. 20:37 Some Euphorbia are weaker than others for sure! For me E.trigona is the "weakest link!" I grow mostly outdoors, but move my caudiciforms, pilosocereus, and stapelias in garage for winter. 😅We get down to 28f/🎉-2.2c in California, so for me, I focus on keeping them fairly dry with good air circulation. Good luck with the new greenhouse build!❤👍🙏🌵
Hi James :-D thats fantastic you take your Caudiciforms and Pilosocereus and Stapelias indoors for Winter, I notice my E.trigona is very sensitive to the cold too, I have lost a couple of trigonas in the past due to cold damage, we are so excited for the new greenhouse, thanks so much James for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to California for a terrific Tuesday today XXXX
Very interesting, Lyn ! 💕🌵👍🌵💕 Thank you to Danny for requesting this theme ! 🤗 I find it so annoying that cacti in garden centers and shops often aren't named ‼️ And now, when I hear you telling us about the differences in cold hardiness between the different ones, I find it even worse... 😤 They should have been labeled with name and care institutions such as minimum Winter temperature...
So happy you found the video interesting Brit :-D argh yes it drives me nuts when garden centres don't label their cacti, and when they are labelled its nearly always wrong name and info, it always seem so hard to find info about their minimum winter temps too, thanks so much Brit for your wonderful comments and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a super Sunday today XXXX
So happy you loved the video and I bet your Propeller plant will be blooming for you in the near future too, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a super Sunday XXXX
Excellent video, Lyn 😊 I think just to be safe I’m going to bring the majority of mine indoors, especially with what happened last winter and losing several plants. Hopefully this winter won’t be too cold, though. Thank you for sharing with us as always, Lyn. Have a lovely evening and rest of the weekend from Edith & myself to you and Hans ❤️🌵☀️🌸🌺🌼🏜
Last years Winter really was so horrible Daz :-D it was so cold and went on for weeks on end, thats brilliant you are going to be bringing most of yours indoors, I am a little bit nervous how its going to be with my new polytunnel this Winter but we will be double bubblewrapping it well and putting floor tarpaulin over the flag stones before we move the plants back in, its such a shame we lost plants last winter and I really hope this winter will be much milder, I think last Summers heatwaves and the extra extended cold winter really put our plants under a lot of pressure as they are not used to it, but fingers crossed this winter will be a piece of cake for the plants haha, thanks so much Daz for your wonderful Friendship and amazing comments and support and for watching, and Hans and I are sending you and beautiful Edith lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to England and Singapore for an amazing Sunday XXXX

I'm loving these videos Lyn. Do you find the thermometer on your electric heater is accurate enough or do you use an additional, external thermometer with finer control?
So happy you are loving the vids Nick :-D I find the thermometer on the electric heater is pretty accurate, but I do also have a separate digital indoor and outdoor thermometer for reading the temperature inside the polytunnel when I am inside the house and it is a bit of extra back up to keep an eye on the temperature in case the heater ever packed in haha, last winter was nightmareish as it was so cold below freezing for weeks and the heater struggled to keep the air temperature above 2c even though the thermostat was set at 5c, I didn't want to turn the heater up due to the awful high elec cost, and I did lose a few cacti but thankfully very few compared to a lot of other growers, I just hope this Winter is going to be a lot milder that the last one haha, thanks so much Nick for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a super Sunday XXXX
Thank you for this! Very informative!!! I’m in los angeles and still have had certain species die in the winter and spring. Constantly adjusting and creating the ecosystem of their home is tricky sometimes! 💜
So happy you found the video informative, it really is challenging to give our plants the best conditions we can for them, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to Los Angeles for a terrific Tuesday ahead XXXX
haha yes it can be so confusing with cacti and Euphorbia, the Pereskia is a leafy cactus that has leaves but also areoles with spines, but it really does look more like a normal plant than a cactus haha, thanks so much Bobbie for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from Hans and me for a super Sunday today XXXX
The clear cover will add a lot more sun onto the plants, and here in Northern Ireland we get a lot more cloud cover than the rest of Ireland, but we will be bubblewrapping the polytunnel and it will add extra shade from excess sun from the clear cover, we will be putting more sun sensitive plants under the tables for more shade and we may put some shade cloth over the sensitive ones on the tables and the hanging basket plants especially as the plants will be getting a lot more sun and light than they do in this green covered one, thanks so much for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER for a super Sunday XXXX
Again, thanks Lyn for your infos and great video 💚🌵 What's the temperature is in your office? I'm asking because we keep most of our cacti indoors. Over here in Switzerland the temps are in regular winter times (I say regular because of climate change) way below 0° C
So happy you loved the video Luna :-D my office is about 18c in winter on average during the day, and drops to about 12c at night, its a little bit too warm for overwintering the cacti and succulents that need more warmth in winter, but the sun comes into the room and I often have to have the heating on in the house, but all the Euphorbia and other cacti all seem to overwinter ok in my office, thanks so much Luna for your wonderful comment and support and for watching, sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to Switzerland for a super Sunday today XXXX
