I saw a great tip the other day for the tops of cabinets. Put newspaper on top of the cabinets to collect the dust and grease that settles there. Makes it so easy to clean when you do your deep cleaning.

I tried the newspaper, but didn't work as well as I'd hoped- i still had to scrub. Hot water with blue dawn and then sprinkle with baking soda worked amazing! I was able to wipe the top of the cupboards in just a minute or two!

@@twilacreaser4138 I haven’t tried the newspaper yet, but I assume it needs to be changed slightly frequent before the grease and dust get soaked in.

I use paper towels. A great time saver. They are the perfect width. After all the work needed the first time I cleaned up there, I used cut newspaper. The paper towels are easier.

My goodness. I have been very busy most of Dec and Jan with work and trying to pray on things. I felt God move me away from one thing, and that greatly improved my well-being. I know God has a deep plan for me, and I must have ait until He's ready for the next phase. I was hoping it was time for a path I want, but God knows much more. Once I released my burden of the path I wanted and allowed God to guide me down my current path, my stress has depleted.
As such, I'm playing catch up on my RUclips channels I enjoy. With this being stated, I watched this video, Amy Darley and a few others. You all motivated me to deep clean my office room in my house. The look had been weighing on me, so I did something about it. It's not finished, but it is started. As I gently work on it, I'm feeling more and more at peace and a stronger desire to go into the office as to be productive. I'm just grateful to God for his guidance and blessings. I'm also so thankful my channels I watch have peaceful and calm (as well as Christian / or any peaceful religion) for me to follow with. Thank you for creating this video and being calm, warm, and inviting. Be blessed Jenny! ❤️❤️

Hi, I’m a new subscriber, I’m Connie from South Australia. I’m watching this in the evening before bedtime to inspire me to get some things done tomorrow. Hubby and I are in our seventies so we are retired but still as active as we can be given our age and dodgy knees etc. I was drawn to your channel because of your using cleaning as therapy. Have never thought of it that way before and it was a lightbulb moment for me. I have depression and anxiety, mostly managed by medication but the anxiety spikes when I get behind in the house, so I’m grateful to have found you!

RE: the blue Pyrex storage containers. I notice you put the lids on them snd then stack them. I learned putting the lid in to store makes lose its seal ability. It’s best to put all the lids together as you use them. It won’t stretch out the seal ability of each piece! I learned the hard way it tended to stretch out the lid so it didn’t seal as well!! Best choice to use Pyrex over plastics due to the issues w/ plastics causing exposure to tumor causing components! Carry on.. thought I’d share on the dealing issue!

Have been organising all my life! I find it soothing to clean and move things around making things more efficient.
The decluttering part started with my yoga teacher training. As we were learning about living with less, I felt the need to have a good sort through. 5 years on I am still paring things back and find myself surprised how much I'm still letting go!
I have been doing a room/part of a room each day I've had a spare hour since the start of the year. Taking down the Christmas decorations spurred me on to reset.
Using this month as a no spend and use it up reset has helped massively this year too as I'm freeing up spaces quicker with no waste.
Feels sooooo good having the house deep cleaned!

January is usually my month to declutter. This year it was two kitchen cupboards, our pantry closet, and our storage room that is built onto our home. In the storage room I just needed to go thru all of my holiday/seasonal decor and put all of the Christmas decor in new bright red bins. I have my spring decor in a large pink bin and in the Fall I will put my Fall decor in orange bins. Last April I did a whole house declutter, doing one room every month. This has saved me so much time and trouble finding things, and decluttering since has been very, very easy. Have a lovely day!🥰❄☃🌷💗✝

I literally just learned that my problem with maintaining a clean home is not my organization but that we have too much stuff. 🤯 so I’m starting at the very beginning. Eight years in our home, three kids later and things just multiplied! I’m so excited to be on this decluttering journey!

    • @carla2012app
      @carla2012app Год назад

Oh, I hear you in that! I have been in our home for 46 yrs, and 4 kids raised. Little has been done since the last one left HS. More than 15 yrs. ago. During that time, I finished 2 college degrees, started a business, have been building that business, and never have done a thorough cleaning or decluttering. It's terrible and the stuff has just accumulated as well. These newly discovered videos are sparking that motivation to now begin! Both to declutter, and to clean. I might add, that before my youngest graduated HS, and both she and I began a new track with college, I was caring for my mom in our home, and have never had the mental space to fully go through all the boxes of treasures, pictures and lovely bottles and glass collections she had, and that is all on top of the "regular house stuff." It was just so overwhelming to me, I just avoided all that clutter and moved on to my life long desire of college because I was finally able to do that for my own mental health and plans. So, here we are!

It’s great seeing you do this and feeling inspired. Having less clutter and more space to organize things definitely reduces my stress and anxiety. Took me having a nervous breakdown a little over 10 years ago to realize this. Breakdown wasn’t clutter related; an incident at work led to the breakdown and subsequent diagnosis of PTSD. Feeling much better now due to great mental health support but decluttering is still important :)

The measuring spoons take valuable time hunting for them!! SUGGESTION: in the container you use most often… & add one set hung by hooks on the door itself labeled so it’s easiest to grab the right size first time! Also.. if you have a daughter learning to cook… bake… start her a set of cook/ baking items before you give to charities.. also let friends and family grab first..then donate to a baker that does baking/cooking for the needy!! Good vibes for all!!

I watched two minutes and got the bug to go do a second round on my kitchen (I kind of did one a few days ago when I got a new thing but it needed more). I got the stuff off the tops of my cabinets, moved things around, decluttered stuff I never used, and finally fixed a drawer whose wheel had popped off (with a twisty tie from a computer cable, since the axle broke--it's working great!)--hooray!
I'm with you on the snap lids--I've never bought them because I just know it would annoy me to no end having to do no less than 4 steps to open a container. Way too much time. I have no idea why people like that.
I like to watch during the day, because if I watch before bed I have to harness the motivation then, and then I'm up late. I did stay up tonight redoing my kitchen, but I'll clean out a few of my crumb-y cabinets another day--yours looked so good when you were done.

I will plan my first weeks meals today for the week ahead, declutter, cleaned and organized the fridge and freezer while I took inventory. Still have to do the Grocery cupboard to ensure shopping is at a minimum for the week's meals. Next week is back to work full time so this will be much more difficult going forward. Hi. I just found your channel. It is lovely😊..you video style and voice is so relaxing and motivational 😊. I can't wait to catch up!
I did my first full house declutter starting January 2017 (after my husband moved out.). The declutter was separating 17yrs of joint living. I packed around 100 moving boxes with his stuff..50 I still have. I need to get my lawyer to tell him to get them... then half my attic and guest room will be free again!
I have always decluttered and organised since my first declutter at 16yrs after finishing high school..and then at each major life change eg 18 college, 21 BSc, 24 MSc, 28 PhD, 30 post-doc etc. Then life, career, marriage, kids got in the way. I realised in 2017, after packing my ex-husbands stuff, MY PERSONAL stuff wasn't to much...but still more than I wanted to have.
In 2018 I did my first whole house declutter of my stuff, the kids stuff and our joint stuff..and I bought the kids 3 plastic filing boxes as memory boxes (Box1 with year hanging files from birth to 18yrs for flat paper memorabilia, a certificate file and photo albums, Box2 for bulky stuff eg first clothes, christening candle/gifts and things they made and Box3 is for toys they do not want to donate/sell). I still need to finish their baby albums and print out their photo albums to go in Box1. When they leave home they can take them. If they don't want the stuff anymore, they can get rid of it and use the boxes for paperwork or storage.
In 2019 I did our 2nd whole house declutter and the garden shed and attic. I still have boxes to donate and sell..which is on this years to do list.
I haven't decluttered since 2019!.. so this year is round 3. You are right, each time it gets easier and you just get rid of more you didn't use between declutters. Several areas eg my kitchen are now just in "Maintenance mode" as nothing has changed. Kids stuff is the main area where I see lots to declutter again.

My boyfriend and I just bought a house. My boyfriends family still lives in the bottom half until Feb. This house needs soooo much work; decluttering 2600 square feet, deep cleaning, serious renovations. My head spins so bad thinking about it. I work 12 hour shifts ontop of this so I’m feeling extremely overwhelmed all the time and not sure where to start.
I’m so happy I found your channel!

I opened my closets in 2018 to put away Christmas Stuff. There was no room. I didn't know what was in there.
Now in 2023 and 53 years old. I have sold, donated and thrown away so much stuff.
We became very frugal and have paid off our FARM in 2020. We also paid off all Credit cards.
It truly made us aware of our spending habits. A plus side you become a MINIMALIST not realizing it.
We don't at all feel deprived but FREE.
THANKS to you and other channels I stay motivated.

I haven't decluttered the kitchen because I did that in the fall. I've begun to declutter my basement and my daughter has been going through her toys and finding things to donate. My goal is to declutter the basement enough that I can fit a rowing machine there for my husband and I to use. Have a wonderful weekend! 💖

The easiest way to start is to put an empty box in your closet. As you do laundry or unload the dishwasher, keep an eye out for items you’re not using. You’d be surprised at how much your box fills up! Once it’s full put it in your car and drop it at the donation center nearest you.

Hello, just discovered your channel! I am just starting ( never late right?) to decluttering my house of 35 years! I really like the plastic bins you have in your kitchen. Went on your Amazon site and are they the ones that say “Divided Kitchen Organizer Bins” and you just take out the dividers?
Thank you for your help with getting me started.

I've been watching cleaning videos recently and your channel randomly started playing, I love it! So of course I subscribed and I was just watching your 2021 spring cleaning (while of course doing my own cleaning-- so nice to clean alongside someone else) and you mentioned your daughter's height, her being 15 and 5'9" and needing a new bed from a twin. My daughter is 11 and 5'8" and her XL Twin is looking a bit small. What size bed did you end up getting? Also, where do find pants that don't stop at the ankles ??? Lol

Although I've never seen anyone keep nailpolish in their kitchen, I do like the clear bins you have them in. Where did you find them? Or can you tell me the measurements? I've been looking everywhere for a specific size to fit some freezer shelves.
Extra measuring spoons are ideal for being able to leave one in a tall spice jar. Also, yours have holes in the handle so you can hang them up on the back of a cabinet door.

Yesterday, I decluttered a couple bags of clothes, the excess hangers, and set it by the door to donate, threw away some things that were not worth donating, & wiped down 1 dresser. I use essential oils and need a better organization method to store the oils I use, and still be pretty. The box I have does not hold have enough spaces to hold the oils, so they pile around the box. ugh. Some are everyday used, and some are used as needed, so how I might better store the ones I don't use daily would be a good idea. My diffuser is also on this dresser & used every night.

Hi Jenny, If my mother was alive she would be well into her 90s now and I remember how often she would say: 'I love to watch people working'. Of course there were no computers or youtube then. I wonder if she felt motivated when she watched people working and I'm sure she would have been an avid 'good housekeeping' youtube viewer!

I really enjoyed you de-cluttering & cleaning your kitchen cabinets. It really makes a difference in a person's life to keep areas neat, clean & organized. However, I think I would use more than one cleaning cloth to clean. I would use a different cloth for cleaning the interiors of cabinets & a second one for wiping out dishes that will be used for food. I commend you for your helpful videos & attention to detail. 👍👍👍

Those larger pieces I wiped off are not used frequently. I was just getting the dust off of them. They will get washed in the sink when I decide to use them. Thank you for watching.
