Mark, the problem with this is that they are raising their prices on the Sledge by basically 10% without giving us an option without the belted tires. $699 was already a bit much for this truck considering Arrma and Corally have similar options for $150-200 less. You know that most bashers do not want the belted tires. The rotating mass of the non belted rubber makes it easier to do tricks i.e. back flips, front flips etc. while in the air. This is a pretty crappy way to treat their customers imo. I was saving for a Sledge but now I need to give that 6S Kraton a good look and it's now $220 cheaper. I also want to add that I love Traxxas and I'm local here in DFW. That said this is silly. In this economy I have to question their marketing team's objective here.
Yep, I just got into the hobby less than a year ago. I have quickly learned that even though Traxxas makes perfectly fine products, I can get as good or better as much better pricing from a few other companies. In this time, I have over $10k in the hobby and only $700ish is with Traxxas.
@@alfredyost7972 don't buy Traxxas batteries, simple. You can get a converter or if you have the ability, soder on a Traxxas plug on other brand batteries.
I don’t feel like the belted tires are an upgrade IMO. Same with X-Maxx…. They charge $100 more but now it’s REALLY hard to backflip these cars since tires don’t balloon and you lose that rotational mass. Seems like more money for less usability
i mean it was worth it until parts kept breaking.. definitely was & still is fun... but due to constant repairs on factory parts breaking that EZ,the Price Should Be $350 Maybe $400 imo
Honestly, the approx 10% price increase (also pointed out by at least one other person), for no real upgrades other than the belted tires, is a joke. Unfortunately, the aluminum parts are still only 6061, which is still a "fail" in many people's book. Knowing how quickly people go through Traxxas tires (ie. the compound is soft), that will be MUCH better off getting the original Sledge, running until the tires need to be replaced, and then pick up some mounted/belted tires from ProLine or PowerHobby. Besides, the ProLine & PowerHobby tires are not only better, and will last longer, than the Traxxas tires...but, they also cost less. Instead of 'wasting', find yourself a shop selling the original, and put the saved $70 towards some higher-quality 7075 aluminum parts. Heck, you might even find a shop (local, or online) selling the original Sledge for less than it's original $699 price, saving you even more than just $70.
I'm glad I bought my sledge a few months ago with a $50 off deal. Honestly, I'd rather have the regular tires over the belted anyway. The different color aluminum is pretty cool, but again just for appearance.
Any issues with the aluminum chassis? Any other major issues with the Sledge? Looking to possibly purchase one of the new models. Last question - Sledge or XRT? I already have the Maxx V2, so trying to decide. Thanks for your time.
Thanks my dad got his Traxxas sledge and he wanted to run it on a summer day and the motor gave out so luckily we had a warranty, but it still sucked 100% they need to include a fan I actually zip tied a second one on my Traxxas sledge, and I feel more secure that the motor will not give out
As a basher I don’t need the belted tires. Prefer regular foam tires. Never had any issues with the “old” foam tires. Also belted has less rotational mass(lighter) & easier to rotate in the air & do flips AND it’s $70 cheaper. 🤦🏻♂️ the color matching aluminum is cool I guess..
Seems like a good deal for some. I know a guy that bought a red Sledge and then put all of those same red parts on his rig. To each his own, but I think I like the cheaper, unbelted tires better.
Yo, a lil off topic but I have a question. Do you run lower vis. diff fluid for higher speed runs? Say I want to up my pinion pretty far, lower diff fluid will be better??
I honestly think that the erevo 2.0 is a better platform than the sledge i used to have one and nothing but problems with it every time I used it the diffs broke and I have three erevos and never broke one yet and the aluminum parts are pretty expensive from Traxxas and I think that’s why they have them color matched on the new ones
Cool so you MUST pay more for Belted Tires upgrade that's a forced option😳 Good way for Traxxa$$ to make sure you get their tires and Not another aftermarket company🤔 Nothing like a forced upgrade that "some" might appreciate..... Is anyone suprised here😨😞🤣🤣 I mean why as a company actually update your rig every year like Arrma and Corally?? Listening to your customer base is TOTALLY overrated🤨
I love the Sledgehammer tires. I put the smaller ones for the hoss on my rustler 4x4 VXL and it woke that truck up. Its a mini Sledge. Fast, and can do all the stunts just like the Sledge. Now, I upgraded everything I could to RPM parts as my Rustler is the OG Rustler 4x4 before traxxas came out with the HD parts.
The first sledge was 700$ and came with plastic shock caps. But the day after its release traxxas offers aluminum shock caps in 5 different colors. How can you not see or acknowledge that it's shady business!
This pisses me off. I converted mine to all red everything. I don't want to even guess how much that cost me. I can't get rid of any of the ugly ass blue stuff to recoup any of the money. Bullshit
I bought the OG blue one.. because I felt I could see this happening. I got lucky But my XRT I got in red cause I knew they wouldn’t be able to touch it, and it comes with the red shocks. Sorry man
Now you have to do is go to m2c and buy chasis, towers, gears made of actual steel, hinge pins, and your good. You will have a decent 2k truggy. They must give you tons of free shit, because I know your not dumb enough to not see how traxxas thinks their customers are dumb!
The esc is a foul, foul system. No throttle control whatsoever. SPEKTRUM, HOBBYWING, vastly superior to the VXL system. They even include an off button! Until Traxxas replaces that esc with something like that makes the Truggy drive like a $700+ rc should, they wont get my business again. Maxx/Slash and the Sledge offer class leading horrible driving characteristics in addition to being the most expensive. Horizon Hobby has been getting a ton of my money, including scx6, 6s Big Rock, Mojave 6s, Kraton exb just to name few in the past few months. During that same time I got rid of every Traxxas vechile I owned with the exceptions being the Maxx and trx4.
This is not gonna be good on u traxxas u putting belted tires on and charging 70 dollars more xmaxx 100 more yeah a few little difference to like colors or overdrive gears in xmaxx the add ons is not worth the money u go and buy the tires they are like 10 dollars more a pair so 20 bucks ok 20 bucks more and u add 70 or 100 dollars shame on u traxxas arrma gonna be the choice i like traxxas better for parts availability and cost of parts vs arrma but you guys gonna price yourselfs off my shelves

i dont even get why its a new kit if the only difference are the tyres and colors, these could easily be option parts
What if you buy Traxxas batteries? They have special connectors now and they are very expensive too. Thoughts?
@@alfredyost7972 don't buy Traxxas batteries, simple. You can get a converter or if you have the ability, soder on a Traxxas plug on other brand batteries.
How can you wonder their objective? It's not like they try and hide it. It's too get as much of your money with the least amount of effort.

💭🤔 So so which one is the better basher with the tires that they are wearing oh, and can you swap bodies? 🤨
I still can’t believe it doesn’t come with the motor fan installed.

I may sound stupid. I litterally dont care how much it is. All I want is a rc that is super fun to drive and cool
Dose the chassis get an upgrade or is it the same as the old version?
The price is a joke when you look at the kraton EXB rtr and the corally kagama
Facts , traxxas only do it cause they over saturated the rc hobby with advertisements
yeah it's sad. You know later they are going make an Ultimate version.

Are they as durable as a sledge though ? I'm seeing mixed opinions on the arrma

Is that ramp custom or did you guys buy it? If so where from?
Yo, a lil off topic but I have a question. Do you run lower vis. diff fluid for higher speed runs? Say I want to up my pinion pretty far, lower diff fluid will be better??
For speed runs i would run higher cst fluids. You dont want the car to "diff out" with that much power. Thats how you lose control or blow a tire.
What do you recommend for a brushless setup for the arrma Gorgon
I wish the rustler body went on and off as smooth as the sledge cool video bro
Keep an eye one the small allen head screws, they one loose.
Sledge needs major upgrades to be decent

The corrally looks like the best deal to me right bow
Is the sledge more durable than the new arma 2024 kraton what are your thoughts on the two I'm trying to decide witch one I'm getting
No. It’s not. Coming from personal experience, the Arrma is more durable.
Cool looking tool set when on website to get it dint find it is that something not out yet.
They look insane cool set up
Thx pimp , 👍🏻
It also has harden gears and I think they went up a couple teeth
