Hey David I have one as well and had it for about 2 years , but my question is my bracelet is starting to look a little bit dull but still has a little shine . How do you clean your bracelet without having to take it to a professional?
After wearing mine for a couple of days, I think 43mm is a perfect size. Especially in this day an age of big watch cases. I also really love the cyclops. It's like having a big submariner but with the exclusivity of the Sea Dweller.
Exactly. The Submariner looks like a woman's watch on anyone over 5 foot 8... I see big guys wearing Submariners and I laugh because it looks like they put on their wife's watch.
@@john-carlosynostroza at just under 7 inch wrist, I'm a perfect fit for the GMTs, Subs.... But I love wearing the big Dweller. Mega Diver, mega cool.....

Got mine two days ago, fantastic piece! I love the cyclops, knowing they couldn’t add it in the beginning for technical reasons, adding it 50 years later is a great thoughtful choice IMHO
I have larger wrists, 7.5" and found most Rolexes in the 40mm range to be too small. I like the larger size of this, as it's more proportionate for me.
Very nice review, thorough knowledge and very pleasantly presented. I've had my 126600 red for just a little over a week and it's a love story for many years to come. Thank you.
7.75 inch wrist here and this is my perfect watch. The self proclaimed horology experts who scoff at anything over 41mm need to understand some of us are better built (or enjoy good living) where 41mm or smaller looks like we raided the wife's jewellery box.
Great review. One tiny point - Comex is pronounced the same as Rolex, with a proper sounding 'O' - at least that's how we pronounced it in the UK. ( I am a former Comex Saturation diver)
I don't think I heard you mention that the bracelet is wider, and more proportional than the Deep Sea variants. That is one of the most important changes to this watch, giving it the balance that is missing in the other Deep seas. A big omission in a review, in my opinion.
Clive Bixby it’s just a tad bit wider but in that way simply amazing because it falls into better proportion with the lugs than the deep sea does. It’s a stunning piece and you’ll be ecstatic when you get your hands on one
I love my Sea Dweller 126600. It’s noticeably larger than a Submariner which is exactly what I wanted. Thank you to Rolex for making this amazing piece.
Nothing against the sub but the Dweller's fully graduated, wider bezel ring with deeper cut teeth, has an all business look. The slightly less glossy dial is also very cool. And the 2 tone? Pure braun. We'll get an ever rose soon enough but yellow gold really works with the beasty yet classy nautical vibe. A killer.
It's beautiful. I've always wished the Deepsea had the magnification and was concerned that the 44mm was just a tiny bit too big. Additionally who wants people calling your watch James Cameron? Despite all that I liked my friends' Deepsea better than my sub. I never pulled the trigger. Now I will. This is the first I've seen it. THANK YOU!!!
The Sea-Dweller 126600 a Beautiful, beautiful timepiece indeed!! If only I could afford two. One for my wrist and one kept in a safe for investment (Probably never to be sold , knowing myself). Excellently presented and narrated video, I must say!!!!
I went into an AD expecting to hate this, tried it on and walked out of the shop like a big kid saying "want want want want". Now I just need to save up :)
Fun fact: in the 1920s a car would cost around 800 USD. Adjusted for inflation, that would be about 10000 USD in 2020, almost 13 times more. This watch, today in 2020, costs about 15000 USD. One hundred years from now, if inflation rates remain the same, this watch will probably cost about 15000*13=195000 USD.
I was lucky enough to purchase this watch two weeks ago at my AD, being first on the waiting list. It blew me away. It's big on my 6.9in / 17.5cm wrist but not overly so, no overhang. It oozes masculinity without overdoing it. Larger case, dial (now 29mm), bezel, hour hand, bracelet. Tapered lugs and larger bracelet contribute to make it look balanced and proportionate. Now at last with the first 3235 movement in a sports model. Then there's the red lettering to make it a little bit more special. I just love everything about this watch. I paid retail for it which I generally never do and I did it gladly. Such a purposeful looking toolwatch that doesn't need fat ugly lugs nor unbearably thick and top heavy case to make it look muscular. Rolex nailed it on the head. It is the perfect sports watch to me.
I have one SD 4000 2014 and that is the one watch that I would chose to keep and use if I could have only one watch. For me, it is the perfect SD. Functional, symmetrical, elegant and discreet. A true winner. I had hoped Rolex would just add an extra line on it to mark the 50th Anniversary of this icon. Last but not least :- when you are diving you want to see clearly the hands of the watch and not the date. SD's never had magnifiers. The 50th Anniversary Edition should honnor that tradition.
Sylvio Bertoli when you’re diving you aren’t looking at the numbers on the dial, you’re looking at the time marked on the bezel & the cyclops in no way interrupts that important function. Once you get on land you still have the magnified date which is a major plus in my humble opinion.
I already have a 40mm Submariner LV and want something that looks a bit different and bigger and this 126600 fits the bill. I was fortunate to get it from my AD and it's such beautiful watch. The old 116600 is a sub date without a cyclop/HRV , this 126600 is a super sub, that's the difference
Another great review, as always. This model looks very sharp, but I doubt I will give it a look. While I am attached to my 43mm Supermarine and this Sea Dweller probably wears a little smaller due to the sloped bezel, I find myself drifting back to 40mm tool watches, and I don't think I am alone in this. If Rolex will put this red lettering on the Submariner, along with a red triangle around the pip, I would be all over it. They may be a little behind the curve in moving upward in size.
As a new owner of the DSSD, your video was very informative and greatly appreciated especially as it relates the to history and lineage of the SD. I thought about buying the 43mm SD, but there is just something about the DSSD that spoke to me. In any case, great job and as a new viewer, I plan to subscribe and watch more of your videos. Ps. I almost bought a Sea-dweller 4000 brand new for $8K the last year of its 3 year run. I kick myself every day for not pulling that trigger. To me it is the perfect Sea-dweller... today's does not hold a candle to it.
Fantastic review. Possibly the best on the internet to date. Loads of info on the whole sea dweller heratige. I love this new 43mm version and am on the list although I've been told to expect 12 to 18 months wait!
I really wonder how this wears. The classic 16600 sits just right on my wrist, but the Grand Seiko 42mm spring drive diver feels a bit too top heavy. But I can easily wear a SBBN007 Tuna. So maybe it's a matter of case design and how it sits on the wrist, not just weight? I'd try one out, but it's not like there are places that rent them out for a day.
Hi. I had the sea dweller from 1990s. What would be the most economical to buy now as I would like to buy one again. I sold mine in 2000 for gbp 1200. Having bought for 1800. :(. Look for to your suggestions.
Just bought mine today. Very excited. Ppl who are hating on the cyclops crack me up. I like it there. I also tried it on and the 43mm size wears like a 41-42. Batman and now the sea dweller “single red”. If they discontinue the red text and go back to white text this year this will gain a shit ton of value.
@@ripperx444 yet you've come back to this video after two years, implying that you can't stop thinking about the sea-dweller- and i wouldn't blame you; it's a stunning piece (as is your d-blue)!
Love the video but don't agree on the 116600 being bland.. For me the 116600 has a more complete dial than the 16660 it has the matte black dial which harps back to the original Sea Dwellers, the ones that have now turned a brown colour over the years, and it lacks the cyclops which is a distraction for many Rolex lovers but like yourself put up with it.
Another impeccable review of Watchfinder. I was extremely lucky to get two of these new SeaDweller for my collection. One for my own use and the other one to keep as I believe it will be a collector’s item sooner rather than later. The watch is absolutely precise and I was surprised to realize that despite of its bigger size, when you put it on your wrist it definitely does not show. The cyclope is my main complaint about the watch as it is definitely not appropriate for a 50th anniversary of an icon that has never had a cyclope before. I also have the SD 4000 and I strongly believe that in terms of aesthetics, Rolex had reached perfection with that watch. It is a beauty and its design is so nice and harmonic that I deeply regret that Rolex had not enlarged it to 43mm and just added the red line to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the SeaDweller. It would be a masterpiece.
I've done the exact same thing. Purchased one to wear and one to put away. I have the same beleif that will become very desirable as the world acknowledges that this will be the New King of the jungle.
Just bought this very model today! It's my first Rolex. I cannot believe what this thing is going for used compared to what I paid for it new but then again.... I had to be put on a waiting list for 2 years until my name came up today. They told me to get in asap or it would go to the next guy on the list. It's definitely not as flashy as my Breitling Avenger II Seawolf but it does sit better on the wrist... not as chunky. A nice piece nonetheless.
@watchfinder - thanks for the best - and very importantly - very educational watch channel on youtube! Regarding wishes for other reviews as you asked for, I'd love to hear you atlk about an IWC Portugeser with an ardoise dial - no matter the case material. thanks again!
The old one was a boat anchor, too thick and heavy. A 43 diver might been good for all the elders who need a bit more boldness to see time clearly . What I prefer my Omega
I love this watch. I'm on the waiting list; September is the expected delivery date. I currently own the 116600. Should I trade it in, or should I really put in a safe and see what happens?
Excellent review. The 116600 is a a beautiful watch. Then again it looks very similar to the Submariner, the 126600 is a bit of a surprise. I love the watch, the size the red text on the dial, all of it. The cyclops though, I am not too sure about it. I am waiting to see it in person and maybe pull the trigger in the next few months. Thanks for the review, very informative and the picture quality is crystal clear.
I can spot the 116600 from a Sub any time because it is so different to the Sub. It does not have the clyclops, it has graduations 360 degrees and it has a matte dial. Now the 126600 is more like a Sub then any other Sea Dweller - it has the cyclops!
I want to know who the 66 idiots are that gave this a thumbs down... This is by far the best watch channel on RUclips and the best review I’ve seen of this watch
Excellent review - just one single question; how tall it sits on the wrist? I had previously the Deepsea Blue but I sold it as it was too heavy and sat to tall on my wrist . Thanks and keep the good work.
The addition of the cyclops imo is Rolex's attempt at broadening the spectrum of people who buy the Sea Dweller. Dive purists will still buy it because it's the Sea Dweller (albeit they will hold a grudge) and desk divers will buy it because it now has date functionality which makes it more than just a dive watch.
Iv just received my sd red and it's better than I thaught it would be. I love it. I have a sub bub much prefer this new 43mm I think it's what rolex needed to do and it works well.
Great review, I enjoyed watching! And really beautiful watches all these Sea-Dwellers. The 126600 is definitely a beautiful, well proportioned & well engineered watch that will fuel passions and talks for quite some time... IMO It's a welcome evolution on a symbolic date (50th anniv.) to bring something new & fresh! Rolex did a good job.
Crazy I bought one this week and was looking forward to it so much. Now every time I look at it, it just doesn’t do anything to me. And I think a 12’000 steel watch should should evoke emotions. So I keep it unscratched and will sell it one day.
Wow I just opened a 5 year old video and I found a 23 hours old comment, what were the odds? 😅 Btw I'm sorry to hear that, at least you will make some money out of that 👍
wonderful video, beautiful watch. this will now shoot up in price, since the mark2 dial appeared and makes this a real anniversary watch with the mark 1 dial.
What an excellent review all the way around. Great commentary coupled with excellent video imagery of this great timepiece. As a photographer, I am well aware of the attention to detail in the lighting, scene backdrop, and cinematography. Subscribed...
It’s a bit funny reading this knowing that as of December 2020 even the OP is ‘collectable.’ There is literally no non-‘collectable’ steel professional Rolex in existence anymore, hence the likes of the OP and even precious metal timepieces being hard to come by. That is, unless one is willing to pay for grey market.
The 126600 will also prove to have a short run for Rolex and be discontinued. The predecessor will be a sea dweller much like the 126600 but without the cyclops. The 4k and the Anniversary will both prove to be highly sought after collectors items.
Love it as an everyday watch, I put a black with red accent rubber b band that keeps the Rolex clasp, very sharp looking, comfortable, and makes it more of an everyday wear. Love the cyclopse, makes it feel like a sub on steroids, my wrist is 7.75in too and I love big watches, but this is a perfect size for me for a daily wear. When I clang it against the doorway by accident, it chips the wood molding not the other way around.
You never seem to have anything negative to say about any of the watches you review. Do you get paid by the brand to review their product? I think you do and I wouldn't care if you are getting paid. Your content is excellent and IMO you deserve to get paid well. I would just like disclosure. That is all.
Very rarely are watches outright bad, and never from Rolex. Our view is to present the facts and let you all make up your own minds. This is such an objective market that one person's grail can be completely uninteresting to another, and so we prefer not to muddy our thoughts with too much objective opinion. And no, we don't get paid by the brands!
Not convinced. Sure, it's a fantastic toolwatch, but hang on : I wear a big diver like 20 days a year max. Why should I pay like 10K ? The SuperOcean Abyss will do that job for just 2.5K. For 20 days a year, a SuperOcean is good enough for me. And I like smaller divers for casual wear, but that will not be a big SD then. More like the 16600 or 14060 ! As for cyclops, I'm not a big fan of dates on watches, so a cyclops is a definite no go for me. My Rolex ? Full black Milgauss !
Great review! I've already ordered mine at the San Francisco Rolex boutique and should be getting it within a month or so. I think all of the changes have transformed the SD into a much nicer SD!
I'm turned 40 next week and have mine wrapped up and ready to open! Having always found my partners Submariner too small, I feel this is the perfect size. Not as chunky as the Deep Sea but big enough to feel like a man's watch. Cannot wait to wear it and struggle to see how anyone couldn't like them. I can only assume they have never see one in the flesh. :-)

Anyone knows what the strap size is? Is it the same size of 21mm as the deep sea?
Hey, good work
Great review! What is your wrist size?
Love it. This is definitely the Rolex I'd buy.
Love your reviews, fantastic voice, top quality information and advice
Thanks for this amazing review
I love this watch. I'm on the waiting list; September is the expected delivery date. I currently own the 116600. Should I trade it in, or should I really put in a safe and see what happens?
Safe. No doubts.
Did you ever get it ?
I love my 43!
Now the 126600 is more like a Sub then any other Sea Dweller - it has the cyclops!
wow high quality prodn. imho the older gen is more proportion perfect
THE BEST REVIEWER.
WHAT A TREAT!
"A rich black gloss dial" . Sea dweller 126600 has a matte dial, just like the 116600 it replaces
Its semi matt. Big mistake in my opinion, gloss is the way to go.
I disagree, owning this watch, I must say that the matte dial is fantastic, especially combined with an already very shiny ceramic bezel
Extremely thorough review! Truly enjoyed this video
Très très belle revue pour une superbe réussite de A a Z.
Thank you! It has less overall bulk than the Deepsea, but still sits at a similar height.
15mm tall
it's 2mm less than the DSSD
The addition of the cyclops imo is Rolex's attempt at broadening the spectrum of people who buy the Sea Dweller. Dive purists will still buy it because it's the Sea Dweller (albeit they will hold a grudge) and desk divers will buy it because it now has date functionality which makes it more than just a dive watch.
Iv just received my sd red and it's better than I thaught it would be. I love it. I have a sub bub much prefer this new 43mm I think it's what rolex needed to do and it works well.
How big is your wrist?
please review the new Omega Planet Ocean Master Chronometer
Great review. Thank you.
Rolex did a good job.
great channel!
Btw I'm sorry to hear that, at least you will make some money out of that 👍
@@michele_ haha well had the urge to communicate my story. Happy Sunday
So what will be your next 10k watch?
@@michele_ Actually none. Will buy another seamaster and that’s it. I just cannot justify a steel watch above like 8000. What’s your current favorite.
@@Chris_mueller I don't know, but I like the seamaster blue dial metal bracelet, i like that glossy dial
I've read that the dial size of the 126600 SD is the same as the 116600 SD, that the additional 3 mm is in the bezel. Can you confirm if this is true?
greekatso : the SD43 dial is 29mm in diameter, i.e. 1mm larger than Sub/SD4K/DSSD.
love the review, thank you!
Legendary design simply perfect.
Really nice watch 126600 Rolex
Great review! Desperately looking for one for a while now.
Review the Everose gold Yatchmaster 40 with rubber strap please.
wonderful video, beautiful watch. this will now shoot up in price, since the mark2 dial appeared and makes this a real anniversary watch with the mark 1 dial.
The SD4000 is going to be a very collectible and expensive Rolex.
they made far too many for that to happen in this life time ,,, then again , look at the lv. you could just be right.
What an excellent review all the way around. Great commentary coupled with excellent video imagery of this great timepiece. As a photographer, I am well aware of the attention to detail in the lighting, scene backdrop, and cinematography. Subscribed...
Thank you very much! We want to be the gold standard for watch videos!
id like to see a video on the collectable rolex's such as the hulk, the batman, pepsi and the kermit
The 116600 is my favorite of the whole family.
I just bought a SD43. Thank you :)
How much did u pay? I got my call today and I’m debating on grabbing it
Not convinced.
My sea dweller has lost 1 second in a week ! The 3235 movement is insane... just wish they had a clear case back to see it.
