Hey Oisin, your channel should be illegal as every time I watch one of your Rolex unboxing videos I want to buy a Rolex myself which I can't really afford. Congrats on another beautiful watch mate. As a cancer survivor my philosophy has changed. I say live life to the fullest as tomorrow is promised to no one.
My kind of guy. Cigars, whiskey, wine and watches. The perfect combo. I'm Davidoff Late Hour Churchill, Macallan 18 or JW Blue, Caymus and Two-Tone Daytona, my goto.
6:43 I've been saying this for just over 3 years now, when I noticed that Rolex updated their website with the Mk2. It quickly occurred to me that the Mk1 was the only true 50th and I got mine just in time. I'm wearing it right now. I also have a Mk2 tucked away in the safe deposit box for my son since it's its favorite watch. The two differences I know of without getting the loop out and going deeper is the crown and the "1" in "1220m" for the Mk1 is a straight line (I) whereas there is a slight wisp at the top of the "1" in the Mk2.
If he wear it would lose thousands in value. Wear the other watches, sometimes you have to protect your investments, nothing wrong with that. A watch can be enjoyed in many ways, also in ways that does not include wearing it on the wrist. But of course, nothing wrong with wesring it either, if that's what you really want to...!
Totally agree. I'll never understand people that buy things and never use them. Even if they are "investments". He could wear and enjoy it for 10 years then sell it for probably 3/4 of what he paid for it. At the rate Rolex is going, if it's not beat to hell he could possibly get all his money back. Just put that sucker on your wrist and enjoy it!
@@timothy9596 Well, if you have many watches it's nothing wrong with keeping a few just for investment purposes. You can still enjoy a watch without actually wearing it, I sometimes take out pieces like that and just look at them sipping a whisky, nothing wrong with that. We are all different, if we all were the same and everyone used every watch you would never be able to see 60-70 year old wrist watches in "as new" condition as someone decided to not wear them. We don't all have to behave the same way.
Just picked up my Sea Dweller DS from my AD in New York a couple of months ago. I absolutely love it! The large case and hefty feel project a quality that only Rolex can offer. All points of finish are just perfect. The Deep Sea is just pure badass. I wear my watches everyday. No safe queens for me. This watch will see decades of hard use. It has found a good home.
Don't stop making videos. They are the most genuine and informative (not just about watches) videos on RUclips. You take it up a level. Excellent work and congratulations on the purchase.
Opted for the SD43 over a Sub Date as my first Rolex from the AD. Was able to try them both on and preferred the look/feel of the SD43. Remain on the list for a Batgirl.
Well, if you’ve got the cash sitting around not doing much and a passion for horology why not? Rolex steel sports are certainly a safe bet and may even be a shrewd long term investment. Yer man has certainly got his head screwed on right.
Damn it man! This video pushed me over the edge. Yeah, plus the stock market being insanely high, my 73rd birthday coming up, and the Army and Air Force Exchange having a sale on watches, I purchased the Omega equivalent: the Planet Ocean; black dial with 2 lines of orange text, 600 meters. Do I need it? No, I already own a perfectly fine SMP 300 and I was just saying to myself I don't need any more watches but it's totally your fault! BTW, rip the f**king stickers off and wear the damn thing! Now I have to go out and buy an expensive bottle of Kentucky Bourbon :-)
I tried one on at my dealer. It is a very heavy watch. Rolex was not aiming that watch at the average consumer. I needed a a day to think about buying it and of course it was gone the next day. Congratulations.
Hi Oisin, thanks for cheering me up ; as a fellow big ape; with a lovely mellow Video making me laugh out loud and with admiration on your Sea Dweller. Unfortunately we have had to cremate my best friend today ; which hurts like hell. As it should. Funerals are bizarre these days. We are draining an 18 year old Glenfiddich at 9.00 pm in his memory. He had a wonderful sense of humour; was an inspired artist and teacher. He was no Saint, but who amongst us is? The World will be a sadder place without him. Thanks so much for lifting my spirits!
I like your videos. I have watched so many watch reviews and the nice thing about yours is that they don’t feel rushed; and it doesn’t feel that you have an agenda.
Oisin, by the time I had watched the whole Video, I was wanting a glass of Red wine, followed by Whiskey. But worst of all, I had a yearning for a Cigar and I haven’t smoked for 20 years. Sadly none of these were available, but I do have the Watch, Cheers !

Crazy I bought one this week and was looking forward to it so much. Now every time I look at it, it just doesn’t do anything to me. And I think a 12’000 steel watch should should evoke emotions. So I keep it unscratched and will sell it one day.
Enjoy your new appropriately sized watch!
Being a fan of watches through RUclips, I probably spend more resources than I should on this hobby. But unlike other unnecessary purchasing, a good watch holds most of it value over time. I have an Aqua Terra with the 2500 co-axial, and I'm waiting on a BB58 Blue.
Love it! Just got one of my own from the AD. It’s definitely my favorite Rolex.
Cheers and beautiful watch.. enjoy it.. we only live once 👊👏❤🙏👍
Oisin, this video propelled you into the hall of fame of watch you tubers! Simply classic, understated, and such valuable content! Well done! Time to enjoy a Hibiki now...
