Love that you're wearing the Sea Dweller, it's always good to see actual scratches on watches these days instead of pristine examples sitting in boxes for "investment" purposes...
The problem we have Hafiz, is that every watch you wear just looks really good and makes me want it. I am not sure if it’s your style, build, skin tone, photography, or all of the above, but I don’t think many of us can wear some of these pieces quite as well in reality 😁👏
Haha. Thanks fellows. I think it’s the perspective - third person view. We always see watches from first person perspective (wrist shot). Also, wrist shots taken from mobile camera m with terrible distortion often show watches to be flaring out of the wrist when in reality they’re not. Watches don’t look that big when you see from third person view, hence the reason I started showing this perspective in my vids :)
Feel the same, all watches looks great on his wrist because of skin colour tone, size proportion, hairy just as need in great places of the wrist and fore arm, muscular forearm... a model for watch advertising, adding pro videographer and a particular voice over to it and you ve got a great youtube channel
Just picked up a Seadweller after owning a Submariner previously. The size suits me perfectly and doesn't look big at all. I have an 18cm wrist. If anyone is worried about the SD being massive it isn't unless you have tiny wrists...
You Sir, are by Far the best and professional educator and narrator of Boutique Watches! Saw your Patek Philippe Aquanat Video, you pointed out all the flaws to the point of detail, on such an expensive entry point Watch! I’m a subscriber for life! Watch many other Videos, High expensive Boutique Watches, Like Audemares Piguet, Vacheron Constantin, Patek Philippe, Rolex, and etc.! Your explanation and references to the key subtle differences are amazing! Thanks, Sir!
Bigger bezel, bigger bezel teeth, bigger clasp, more gold, and bigger wrist presence are the reason I picked the TT seadweller over Blusy. No comparison when you hold them side by side. It is a beast
This is like comparing a standard Porsche 911 with a 911 GTS. Some people will be happy with the basic model and feel there's no need for more. Others will want something extra, push the enveloppe a bit further. No right or wrong, just a question of finding what one likes and is happy with.
SD43 for me. Although iconic & just about perfect, the Sub is way too common & overdone. Love the heft, the red text, & complete bezel markings on the SD43.
I watched this video a month and a half ago. I probably rewound the first bit like a zillion times I mean the SD sits so well on your wrist. The pelagos LHD and the SD have been my grail watches. By some divine grace I got both in the last couple of weeks. I love the SD and this video got me borderline obsessed with it. Very informative, perfect camera angles and of course a very soothing voice to go with it. Doesn't get better!!
Hafiz's videos are famous for offering the best pictures that can be seen on Utube. But please don't forget the text which is also perfect, always sharp and balanced. The point of view given on every watch is always so clever and interesting. Pictures and text make Hafi's vidéos a unic contribution.
SD 43 with the red text is just outstanding and I like the writing on the back of the case also the bezel is more practical and these are more rarer than subs definitely a collection piece that anniversary one
I've got the SD43 and love it, but I must say that the sub gives me pause. I think I prefer that gloss black dial and its smaller proportions. But the SD43 has a lot of wrist prescence.
If the sub wore closer to a true 41mm, it would wear perfectly on my 7.75inch wrist. Dimensions can be deceiving and are everything in how a watch wears. Interestingly enough, the Tudor black bay S&G wears perfectly on my wrist and had me thinking I could pull off the sub 41, until I tried one on. The Tudor has a 41mm bezel with basically a sd43 case and 22mm bracelet. Dial size also makes a difference. Talk about a visual mindfuck...lol. so for me, I will be going with the sd43, explorer II 42mm and Tudor 41mm to enjoy the various bezel sizes. Hafiz I would love to see a comparison between the Tudor S&G (or Tudor with saame dimensions) and the Sub 41.
Just found your channel. Brilliant. I love your relaxed view on the use of the definite article “the”. Stay well. Amazing watch descriptions. It’s like you are the Cervantes of horological reviews.
Best watch videos on RUclips. Love the comparisons. Love the fact that you give real measurements including thickness. Love being able to see how the watch looks on a person, rather than just someone’s wrist. Great voice. Great dialogue. Keep it up Hafiz!
Photography 10/10 and the most detailed commentary on RUclips - there are some differences on these two models that I wasn’t even aware of until you pointed them out - despite watching countless reviews by others. I was offered the steel SD43 last year from an AD which I politely refused saying I preferred the ‘inky black’ gloss dial of the Sub to the Matt grey of the SD - even the experienced AD manager wasn’t aware of the difference🙄 Your top quality content is appreciated - keep up the good work👍🤓
p.s. for months I wondered if I’d missed a rare opportunity in declining the SD43 then out of the blue received a call from a different AD that I’d left my details with years ago offering me the new ‘no date’ Sub 2 weeks after release - I couldn’t believe it as I’d no purchase history but jumped at the chance!🤩
Very good video as usual. Great to see the comparison I was looking for. I think the SD43 it’s the winner, but as I always advice people, only buy the watch you like no matter what people think or tell you about it, the one that will wear the watch is you and is for you to like it.
i d love to see a 42 mm sub (real 42 not like the 40.5 2020 we call 41mm), with a 600m wr with a thickness somewhere in between the sub and the SD, like a SD but with a flatter back case.
i now have the discontinued sub no date, 114060, but really like the bigger SD 43. I have a 7.25 wrist and the sub feels small. I wonder whether these watches are too close in their styling and could exist in the same collection
Hafiz, I am glad that I can always count on you to put together great comparison videos like this! I've got the 41mm Sub and older 16600 Sea Dweller. I've literally "downsized" my collection recently from bigger, manlier pieces. I have been yearning for something with more wrist presence and was thinking about the SD 43. Really great comparison and exactly what I needed. I've got a 44mm Panerai coming first and I'll see how I feel about that. Maybe the SD 43 is next.
Merci Hafiz.
Great video! I've been trying to find either of these (41 or 43) in black and have been torn on which as my wrist size is borderline at about 6.25 inches. It would be my first and only Rolex, and the watch I would wear every day. I am leaning towards the 41, although as both are so hard to find right now at an AD, I'd likely be inclined to purchase either if my dealer offers me one. With something like a Bergeon spring bar tool, is either one harder/easier to change the band on? I would likely get a few custom straps, perhaps something like a custom shark strap, a rubber one, and classic leather, so I would like to be able to swap bands pretty frequently.
you make the best qualitiy in speaking of camera work for watches review, your hands are incredibly stable holding those watches. i belive the submariner date 41mm is way more elegant, proportioned and clean looking than the sea dweller.
I wore my 2017 sub date with pride until I stood next in line to a guy wearing a SD. It made me feel inferior. Sold the sub not for this reason and now have the SD43. Guess what? I miss my sub! Such is life my friends, be grateful and enjoy the journey.
The production value of your videos is simply beyond anything else on this hobby. These videos are almost therapeutic :) Oh, and while I’m here, taking another chance to beg for a Aqua Terra macro treatment ;)
Another awesome video, thank you, Hafiz. Have not tried either one on, but just going by looks, I'd prefer the 41mm. Your film of posing with them reminds me I have to go on a diet, thanks allot! 😁
I am thinking of moving from the SD43 that I own to the new Sub (green if possible). The case back sticks out so much on the SD, so the watch doesn't sit flat on the wrist.
@@michaelbishop9157 try to find a side picture.. you will see what I mean. the case back sticks out at least 3 mm. it is a clever design, because the watch looks slimmer than it really is

Been waiting for this video Hafiz! Thank you for making it. Not only are you king of the macro shot, just realized we've all overlooked your great script writing skills! Narrative here is awesome 😎. And the voice...kudos mate!
Coming from the SD 43mm. Bought it and sold after 1 month of owning, and just got the New 41mm Sub. Have a 7.5” wrist, so size was never a problem with me. I realized that as much as I loved the red letters and the tone of black on the SD, it’s main problem for me was that the “43mm” size, is far from a good implementation: The dial size is practially the same as the Sub, only with a bigger bezel. This was a big mistake from Rolex, since the SD has to show the same information inside and a bit more, making it look stuffed, crowded and at the same time disproportionately on. Why not make the dial and bezel bigger in a symmetrical way from the beginning? They could have respected the 43mm all in all proportions, and still keep room for the next 1mm needed to differentiate it from the upper Deep Sea. Yes, I love the look that mate black in the back gives to it, but in terms of design an proportions, definitely the Sub 41mm has the edge. Hope Rolex can fix this issues and help the SD43 to look better.
Look at the wasted space given to the bezel and the angled haute on the Sea Dweller. That extra real estate should be distributed on the dial like on the 41mm sub.
You have worn your Sea-Dweller a lot! And you have changed the bracelet a LOT! Love it! 😍 I own one, and I think it makes the Submariner look like the little annoying brother... 🤭
The Sub41 has really killed the SD43. I have owned the SD43 and it’s case back protrudes out to the point making it very uncomfortable on the wrist. This is not the case with the DSSD. That said the dimensions and attention to detail is now perfection on the Sub41. It really rendered a death blow to what momentum the SD43 had left. The SD43 is bulky and not balance like the Sub41. The Submariner is THE icon and just looks better. If you need a technical dive watch you get the DSSD.
I just sold my SDDS D-blue. Its way too top heavy and bulky. Now I'm in search for SD 43. Also its not easy to read the smallish date on sdds at a quick glance. I like cyclops as a instantly recognizable Rolex feature plus readability.
It is good video. I like this. I got 126600 a few year ago. But I watched your other video 116710LN. It is so attractive ! Should I trade 126600 to 116710LN?
imo, the sea dweller is the better watch... with gray market prices only a little above SRP. going for the date sub, prepare for the hype pricing 😆 If you really want a rolex for the brand, get watches that are overlooked. If you're just going for it because it's the "in" thing... 🤷♂

Without a doubt, the best comparison I've seen on these two watches, I'm in the market and you've opened my eyes to some of the finer points. Thank you, Hafiz.
Good explanation. I have the same Rolex in a combination of black and gold.I don't know the exact year at the moment, but I think it's 2007 or 2017.Because it doesn't have a cyclops eye above the date display uninitiated amateurs think it is a Rolex fake but I don't have all the certificates and it is original .These watches are very rare and increasingly valuable especially for collectors. The watch works as it should without a problem.

I’m hoping my AD will call me for a SD43. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
Brilliant presentation.
As always 👏👍
Got both..prefer the sub 41 with it’s better legibility and ergonomics
Amazing review, thank you!
