I really, really wanted a Rolex Sub Date about 18 months ago. I had saved up my £9k and had it in an instant saver account ready for the call from the AD. I regularly popped into the AD to remind them how much I wanted the Sub, etc. £9k is already way too much to be spending on a steel watch, so I refuse to pay an extra £4-5k for a pre-owned one. The AD eventually said I need to "build my profile" if I am ever to get a Sub. So on top of my £9k, I would need to spend an additional £6k for a different model first. I'm now so fed up with the AD games that I have completely lost all interest in a Sub. I'm glad I still have my £9k!
My AD gotta be crazy then. I went in October asked for a Pepsi they ordered the watch six weeks later I got a damn Batman! Wrong watch but I took it anyway!
Ah. The old Ferrari/Porsche sales model. Find a desperate idiot and sell him the stuff you cant shift on the promise of getting the one you actually want....but strangely never actually get.
Whew!! So glad the hype is over. I can finally go back to not being able to afford a Rolex normally. Now I can expand my vicarious collection without restraint.
Yep, so true. Many people (my friends included) wished for the hype to disappear and for the market to take a dive. Those same people are now lamenting back a few years ago when their savings accounts were flush and that the impending recession is not real. What’s the adage?…”rising tide lifts all boats”. So maybe the opposite must be true as well then.
After I paid my house off, I considered saving up for a Rolex. I decided not to. I want to buy land instead. Rolex are nice watches, but I just don't know if they can hold their value 10 years from now. The clones are so close, you can't even tell them unless you have a microscope. A nice quartz watch is fine and they look great.
I’m sure Rolex will be devastated to hear that I no longer care. The AD game-playing and explosion of flex culture over the last 4-5 years have killed my once significant desire for a Rolex.
It went from the everyman's tool watch to nothing more than a status symbol. Undecorated, hidden movements (excepting the new 1908) and constant price increases for no increase in performance or looks has turned a lot of there potential customers off. So many other brands offer more for the same amount of money.
Best comment I've read all day. I think this was bound to happen. The advent of clocks on your computer, phone, etc...most people don't need a watch any more. Back in the day, sporting a really nice watch was pure joy because everyone wore one, and it was refreshing to see new styles. But today, the ONLY reason to buy a luxury watch is ONLY to flex. The function aspect is gone. The one exception to buy is collecting, but even collecting has been ruined by clones.
Well if Bucherer is the future of Rolex sales, it's still awful! I have tried to get into two stores and wasn't even allowed in the door. Even though I was wearing a Rolex on one of the occasions
@@DadeMurphie come on … go to any gray dealer and try to sell your GMT or submariner and let me know how it went … they will only buy if you only sell it for 2K more … they won’t be interested otherwise
I got interested in watches just a couple months ago. I always wanted a Rolex because that’s the brand everyone knows, like non-car lovers still know Ferrari. But after learning ADs are worse than Porsche dealers I’m now happily wearing my Omega Speedmaster sapphire sandwich!
Sorry you had to experience this. This is NOT how it’s always been. I bought my first Rolex in 2016 when Subs had a very small wait and you didn’t have to kiss the ADs butt and you didn’t have to have 10 others to get one. Sadly sooo many people who are new think this current environment is normal and have formed opinions based on it.
It's not over at all. But the good thing is, a lot of people don't care anymore. After waiting for a long time to get the call, when it arrived, i realized after all this frustration i don't care anymore. I passed on it and have no regrets. Looking at the watch would just remind me how they kept me a slave waiting for it.
ha, exactly. I wanted one and went to a few stores - the sales just don’t seem to care at all, then I stopped wanting it - if the experience isn’t there then f it.
No longer want one. I bought Omegas and Tudors and Breitlings with Rolex's money, and in the process found I really didn't need an Explorer II. I think I'm good.
The vast bulk of the cost of these very expensive watches goes towards marketing, fancy shops and the cushy management expenses. The actual cost of making the damn thing is only a small part of the final sales price.
Great, maybe the time will come again to take Rolex seriously as wristwatches as opposed to overpriced, overhyped, “look at me” type of Instagram fame show-off jewelry
I simply cannot understand the attraction of an artificially inflated scarcity. This whole process of marketing, limited access and thus pricing is a rort in my opinion. And on top of that they're mass produced.
@@omerturk9462 Rolex has never discounted any half desirable model for 20%, even back in the 90s. Steel GMTs and Subs still trade way over retail (15-25% for Subs, 35-100% for GMTs depending on models). Even if they started trading below retail in years from now, which is virtually impossible for GMTs due to global demand, limited supply and MSRP increases every year, Rolex wouldn't discount them as they're a private company who cares about legacy and brand image more than anything - they'd just slow down production.
Steel Daytonas and Pepsis have never been available as walk-ins (even in the 2010s for Daytonas, you'd still have to wait or have some purchase history). The right metric to evaluate if the market would be much better is whether in most ADs, desirable but very common models like Steel Subs, steel & fluted Datejusts, steel Explorers would have a reasonable wait time of a few months at most, and models like OPs would be somewhat available as walk-ins.
Im not going to buy a Rolex from an AD until it they go back to preCovid days, when they offered discounts to buy one. They are way over priced and over hyped atm! Im good with my 14270 explorer, I love how I can wear it anywhere and it flys under the radar. Buying other models that scream look at me I have a Rolex is not safe to wear in most places these days.
I cannot predict prices, but if Rolex doesn’t allow ADs to sell to new walk-in customers within the next 12 months then many collectors will never return. The AD can only say no so many times.
While demand outstrips supply that (discount at ADs) is not going to happen and as you can watch brand new Submariner's finish on eBay £2-3k over retail, demand is still outstripping supply.
Honestly. I don’t care about Rolex anymore, I came to see the comments and love people being fed up. I still like Tudor even though I had an abysmal experience in Rome with Tudor not allowing me buying a bb41 monochrome burgunday. I didn’t have a relationship with them. 😂 Thankfully bucherer in Copenhagen made up for it. I really wanted it not because it was hype. So now that I got Tudor and omega my next watch is an Aqua Terra or a JLC Polaris. Fuck Rolex 😂
i love my tudor gmt for an adventure/travel watch. check out the blancpain fifty fathoms plain or bathyscaphe too if you havent. I love the minimalist look, attention to detail, and superior engineering of the bathyschaphe and I was eying them for a while. still regret I didn't snatch one up when a couple new with bracelet ones dipped to like 8k on c24 :(
Horrible new designs, disgusting customer service, a company that insist on servicing legally documented stolen watches, ignoring their base customers, supported by spineless watch influencers (except this great channel) so what do you expect.
I was at a newer Rolex AD last week. The watch guy was very pleasant, showed me multiple Rolex watches. Wanted to look at the Omega I was wearing. Showed me a two tone Sea Dweller and mentioned he had one of those on hand. This jeweler also had Tudor and Oris and showed me several of those. He got my info and was very straightforward as to what was available versus what I had put on my list. Overall a great experience. The other Rolex AD in town has had my name and info for 3 years now and no call. But I felt like that place was just going through the motions but knew they were not going to sell me a Rolex.
I have a Rolex day date it cost me a fortune but I much prefer my solar square g shock as it only cost me £100 and I don’t feel like I need to mummify myself in bubble wrap when I leave the house with it on my wrist. Maybe I am getting old but the old looking Casio’s take me back to a place where watches with crazy niche features like a tv remote make me a more happy human.
I went to the AD today and told them I wanted a Pepsi GMT. I told them Andrew Morgan said the hype is over. I received the Willy Wonka movie ending treatment. But in this case, Willy wasn't joking, I lost, I got nothing, not even a good day sir. If I'd have known this, I'd have stole some fizzy lifting drinks or at least had a few more cups of cappuccino and chocolates.
I'd try for a Datejust, Explorer(Same movement as a GMT) or Airking. You are not going to get any GMT walking off the street. Most ADs get less than a handful a year.
@@nickhull83 lol. And there you have it. While I was joking, this illustrates the problem. Why would anyone buy (try to get) a Rolex they don’t want because they can’t get the one they do want?
@@uncles2000 I did and then traded it in towards a Batgirl in the secondary market. I paid over retail on the Batgirl but its less than what the AD spend would require and it happened same day. I have also built a relationship with the secondary dealer now. Pepsi's are in the $21-22K range and a solid buy right now. Fingers crossed there will be Daytona's in 2028!
Market is down still, I've been looking up strategies and apparently both bull and bear market condition provides equal avenue to accrue massive gains, and a news article particularly mentioned a 54 year old that made $180k in 5weeks, how do I learn these strategies, my portfolio has been stagnant for months.

I remember couple summers back, after my lengthy divorce, I needed a good boost to help my business stay afloat, hence I researched for licensed advisors and came across someone of utmost qualifications. She's helped grow my reserve notwithstanding inflation, from $275k to $850k.
How can one find a verifiable financial planner? I would not mind looking up the professional that helped you. I will be retiring in two years and I might need some management on my much larger portfolio. Don't want to take any chances.
I have nothing against rolex apart from they all look the same just a different colour bezel. And the fact the internal workings were only good when zenith made them .totally over priced
Yes, most of all watches including Rolex look the same. The homage $130 Pagani looks exactly like a Rolex, and they use a reliable Japanese movement. I just don't see a need to spend $29K more for a watch that does the same thing.
That's a matter of personal taste. The turquoise 36mm OP would be a welcome addition to my collection. But not at these crazy pre-owned market prices....
I find most dials that are blue/green/turquoise etc just don't do it for me, the 'celebration' dial in particular makes me throw up in my mouth a little. It probably is just a matter of personal taste but they should change the name of the celebration to 'special needs'.
Yep - Rolex AD really treated me like a wet bag of shaite when I wanted the watch for my 30th Birthday... and that is it - they lost me as a customer forever. Submariner was my first choice (second being Omega Speedmaster), but now any of their watches are behind the last watch on my list. I will NEVER buy a Rolex... they can come into my house, abduct my girlfriend and even give me a blowjob, they not getting 1 penny out of me. No brand can treat me like this and expect my money ever again. Even if they beg me and my purchase would be 50% of retail and would be a difference between them going bankrupt of not... I am happy to see them go. Rolex does not exist to me. And this was 2020, so pre-pandemic... I can't even imagine how bad it was during the pandemic, because even before simpleton black Submariner was already "look don't touch" item. And when I asked if I can "try it on" the staff laughed a little... kind of trying to make me feel embarrassed for asking such stupid question. And by the way - I don't mean "service was horrible"... no - they literally made fun of me, obviously in very polite way, but it was literally patronising. Basically they treated me like a 5-years old in a car dealership... "oh yes, you can drive this... whroom whroom, you like this, maybe when you father comes around you can sit on his lap". No I am sorry, I am the customer, I was looking to part with £8,000 of my hard earned cash (not from crypto) and you selling a luxury good which is completely optional in life. With that attitude you won't have my business.
Same story with me here in France, wanted to buy a milgauss, got laughed at and told, how about you buy a Tudor or a Breitling first ? I went to GS and got the watch I wanted there, with great customer service on top of it
@@_Azur Same here - walking into Omega next door, service was great, all the watches were for sale, what you see you can try and overall amazing service. Basically, they asked me roughly what I was looking for and just brought like 5 watches closest to the description for me to try out. Day an night difference! They were kind of proud of their watches and explained all the details to me, basically "we know what we have here, we are not some sort of second rate brand", but apart of that purely transactional - "you bring the money, we have the goods". Obviously, I was also polite etc. but it is just crazy how completely normal person is treated like shit by Rolex and Omega next door treats people like people. Rolex AD didn't offer me other brands (I don't think they had anything else), but absolutelly all watches were "look don't touch", even the cheapest ones like Oyster Perpetual and Datejust. They wouldn't even consider putting me on wait list for Submariner "we currently don't know then it is going to be in stock" (honestly at this point I already hated the brand and just thought - if I could get Submariner on waitlist I can flip it for profit), but they said if I am interested they can put me on the list for Datejust... And I said okey. To be fair they called me back in November same year (my birthday was June and I was shopping in May) and said they may have Datejust coming for December... at which point I was like nah don't care. Most importantly, Omega is just as good, in many regard even better (when it comes to technicalities and specs, the movement etc.) and I just understand why people so crazy about Rolex when that is the experience they get. And yet!.. there are nobody queuing next to Omega, but plenty suckers waiting forever to get Rolex - sad reality in life... treat people like scum and they will comeback for more.
@@jdejde6015 Yeah, the AD for Audemars Piguet wouldn't even let me in the door. F that. I am just going to get the VC Overseas instead of either Rolex or AP.

I think it IS credible. I’m similar to this. I think Rolex is an ambarasing watch to wear now - you just look like a guy who has either paid 000’s over list, or played the stupid game with the AD. Would rather wear an Omega these days
@@leonlittlechild1384 You couldn’t get a Rolex from an AD, or couldn’t/didn’t want to pay secondary market prices? I understand. Bit of a jump to then say that makes them “embarrassing” though 😂 You simply sound bitter to be honest.
@@Jimbobrasil Yeah, don't believe this internet story for one second. Pretending to have spent over quarter of a million on watches, then being petulant about how one AD told you to shove off. Interesting story bro
Well, I, for one, am relieved. No longer will I be need to use the excuse of not wanting to overpay for a Rolex. Now, I have to face the uncomfortable reality that they simply won't sell me one.
I went into a shop looking at Omegas and they were trying to push a Rolex on me, then stated how they are above market price because of how hard they are to get lol. Why would I pay more than retail or get on a “list”
The hype may be over however the AD’s are hanging on for dear life. Ad’s near me still playing same BS games. I just sit here watching these watches fall in price on secondary market. Not falling for there crap. I’ll buy a watch if you want to sell it I’m far too busy to play stupid games and I want a relationship with my family not some jewelry salesman.
I abandoned Rolex a long time ago; the fake waiting lists, ADs unethically attempting to flog their unwanted crap stock off on me to build a buyer ‘history’ whilst meanwhile BNIB over RRP Rolex have bizarrely made their way for sale at grey dealers. The image of Rolex is just that of sleaze now.
I bought two Rolexes from an AD in London (Mappin and Webb Frenchurch Street) because my friend (who was a very rich mega buyer) asked them to do me a favour. Those were pepsi for me and a datejust for my wife. A year or so later I went in, independently, and expressed an interest in a Daytona, and they treated me like the village idiot. They've just closed down. I still want the Daytona - but am now questioning myself. Is it the hype that makes me want one - and if they suddenly became very attainable, would I still buy one? I think I would - but the psychology of what you want is clearly quite a complex bunch of stuff!!!!
i think of it this way in terms of watch desirability: what watch is attractive to me in all 3 forms- stainless steel, 2-tone, and gold? GMT Master passes the test; Daytona fails it due to 2-tone. Sub also fails (never liked the Bluesy nor the current Gold Subs.) I'd love to land a GMT or Explorer II (purist watch- at least so far. hope they don't water it down with 2-tone or gold.)
@@kaunas88 "When it first came out . . . " Right, and then it evolved over the years and slowly built a following. When Porsches first came out they were massaged over Volkswagen Beetles.
I hear what you are saying Andrew, but as of September 2024, the only Rolex watches I have been offered are precious metal. I went to visit Europe and no Rolex for sale at the AD. Same here in the US. I even went to Bucherer and same song & dance. Also Rolex charging over gray market for CPO doesn’t make any sense.
Many people like the CPO because they buy the watch from Rolex and not some shady dealer so they know for sure the watch is authentic, this is perfect for the inexperienced buyer. They also become customers of Rolex and they get a Rolex warranty and service. Just like people prefer buying CPO used cars from dealers for a little more than getting them off randoms on Craigslist.
If you follow car channels in the U.S. every youtuber posts "It's over" videos for clicks. If you're a watch channel it's "Rolex market is dead". Of course nothing has really changed.
And the cycling hobby. The industry is collapsing!! It’s easy clicks. Rolex can afford to ride it out. In the meantime they can control the supply to keep the balance. I suppose the secondary market will fluctuate to match the world economy.
In this case the title was the HYPE is over, and although there are still plenty of gullible people are still willing to pay way over list for certain watches the prices they are willing to pay aren't as strong. The Rolex market isn't dead, and probably never will be but it is only a few Rolex models that people obsess over - the majority aren't worth over list on resale, and you CAN buy them at an AD without waiting a lifetime. The hype isn't over, but fewer people are swallowing it.
@@jamesmoninger1982 as with all things, people have different tastes. I personally don't like the royal oak or the nautilus which are also very big hype watches. Is it special to me? No. Is it special to others? Yeah, and I'm not going to judge what watches other people should like :)
Sunday morning cup of coffee and an Andrew Morgan video. Life is good. It would be even better if I was wearing a Rolex while I was doing both. 6:50 😂😂
..."bounce up and down like a bipolar cricket on a trampoline" Once again, damn I am a broken record, Andrew, you have given some extremely deep thought-provoking information with a side of complete hilarity! Thank you so much - loved this!
I agree the market is cooling. BUT the problem is more than supply v demand. It's the laughable behavior of the ADs, hiding the popular watches in their trousers before you purchase something else, whether they have 1 or 1,000 subs in store.
I walked into the flagship Rolex store in Beijing only last week. They said the waiting list for a Daytona was between 7 and 11 years 😂😂. The lady I was talking too had worked there for 3 years….and had never seen a Daytona….bearing mind that this chinas flagship store. I asked her if any customer has ever vet had a call to get a DT and she just burst out laughing. Most of the Rolex stores in Beijing are half empty. They just can’t get the stock which is amazing because most brands are investing in China.
You’re in Beijing. I mean come on. Do you honestly think your experience in Beijing is representative of what happens everywhere. Of course the waitlist in Beijing, Dubai and other places like that are going to be ridiculous. Think of the sheer number of people and wealth concentrated in/ travel through those areas. I had no, zero, buying history with my AD, was on the list for various models for about six years with no calls. When the Sprite dropped I knew it was perfect, comfortable, my favorite colors and had all the functions I wanted in a watch. I pestered them for two years and four months, tagged the owner of the AD (who I friended on Facebook) and tagged them in many snarky comments on social media. Well I finally got a call, yes $11,925 out the door for my Oyster Sprite. The hype market to me is judged by the GMT barometer. Until that is within MSRP (it’s not) then the hype is truly over. I have owned my Sprite since March and it has lived up to everything I thought it would be.
Most Rolex watches are owned by resale stores and dealers!, in most countries around the world have already turned their backs on watches!, as an example!, most people in Japan don’t wear watches!, and the grand Seiko models are made for export market!.
That's not true. If you catch the subway in rush hour you'll see more salary men wear Rolex, speedy and grand Seiko than you'll ever see in the West. Agree mostly watches are owned by resale though.
In Japan!, the Official Rolex AD ‘s don’t sale watches to the public average consumers!, the sale to the Dealer!, I know this to be true!, because I’m on a few waiting list!, for watches for my personal use!. The saying is actually true!, the customer always loses!!!
@@DoDavidDo Only if they can afford them. The Japanese are more practical and value driven buyers than the Chinese, but no doubt in most wealthy Asian cities you would see more luxury watches than equivalent western ones.
I don't know about "over" man.. I walked into Bucherer and they've got a GMT Meteorite for $67,000, 2019 model... not even the original box / papers. Meanwhile I've been on the waiting list for one for 3 years with a $50,000+ buy history.
Not really sure what happened supply and demand wise. What I do know is that outside of the stainless steel Daytona, stainless steel Rolex sport models were always a dime a dozen. Available at all times at the Rolex AD. We’re going back to those days.
Yeah, nothing is over just because you can buy a couple of two tone watches at a random A.D.. When the shelves are stocked again, then the crisis is over.
Got the call for my Sudmariner date yesterday. I was on the list a whole 3 weeks…. Picking up today. Things are changing. But you got to spend. I did buy a mint green dial datejust for my wife, and we also bought our wedding bands from the same store and brought in my Explorer 2 for service there. You have to be a customer. Also, always walk in with proper pieces or the watches you bought from them and they take you seriously. If you can’t afford to buy other things to be considered for a sub or a gmt then buy second hand. Going broke chasing a sub isn’t worth it.
Lol. No thanks. I just bought gray market. At this point the cost isn’t the barrier. I’ll pay extra to avoid these games. I don’t have to qualify myself to you to prove my worthiness. I’m certainly not going to buy something I don’t want in order to establish a “relationship” with a dealer. Anyway, what kind of relationship is based on me buying something so that you will sell me what I really want? Seems like quasi prostitution with a twist of manipulation. No thank you. The grey market dealer seems actually happy to see me walk into his shop.
Depends on geography, here in Taiwan, it is still pretty strong. Also, especially for Daytona and GMT, the supply will still be super limited and Rolex does not seem to be willing to change this policy.
I think there's a LOT of negative views towards people wearing rolex's right now - rough economy, lot of hype, perception isn't great. And a LOT of attention... which is increased crime. I barely wear mine
In 1998 I bought my GMT-MASTER II coke for £2070 from an AD that had it in the window. I had to sell it a few years after sadly and made a loss. I've just found myself in a position to get a Black bay 58 which cost me nearly £1500 more than I paid for my GMT-MASTER which shows how relatively sensibly priced Rolex watches used to be.
I find it SO mindblowing that relatively few people know that diamonds aren't anywhere near as valuable as they are made out to be, and that DeBeers artificially manipulate the price by restricting the supply!
Great video again 😅 Yes gold models are becoming increasingly available in the UK. But not everyone wants yellow gold watches regardless of the money they have available. On their website site Rolex says that tie-in sales are not permitted, but then also that they are not getting involved in the customer/AD relationship. Should be different at Bucherer though.
Put your name down for a Rolex you don't want. (Not a difficult choice for me personally, any of them apply.) Stroke the dealer's ego. Waster valuable time by calling regularly. Then, when you get the call, ghost the AD. They'll get the message.
This is like saying pursue a beautiful girl, dine her, call her, text her and then ghost her. She (like AD) has so many suitors they won’t even notice one falling off the roster, it’s straight on to the next.
I was gifted a GMT Master II by my parents in law for my wedding, never really liked it and only wore once during the wedding. Don’t get me wrong, I think it is a beautiful watch, but then everyone also has a similar looking watch. Feels like I am losing my individuality wearing it on my wrist. Hopefully my son will like it more than I do.
It is actually illegal to coerce customers to have to buy something that they don't want just to get the thing that they do want. And these high priced brands do it all the time.
Is this the mew marketing campaign? "The hype is over, the flippers have given up, the watch industry belongs to real enthusiasts again... so start spending..."

I talked to a watch enthusiast working at a Rolex AD. He said Rolex is cutting down the supply of new Rolex models to cope with the declining demand. So the watches, especially hot models will still be difficult to get. Might be easier if you are willing to bundle with other watches in the AD.
You are not the only one doing the same!
I'm in the same boat!!! Lost interest already. When the AD finally calls, I'll most likely decline.
I won’t buy anything that put me in waitlist
Whew!! So glad the hype is over. I can finally go back to not being able to afford a Rolex normally. Now I can expand my vicarious collection without restraint.
hahhahaha
😂
Grey dealers are still pricing like the hype is sky high. LOL scumbags..

Exactly. A speedy sapphire sandwich is just pure class.
Buying an Omega because you can't get a Rolex is like going home with the toothless old woman from the pub because Margot Robbie won't DM you back.
@@rowananderson8318no. It’s not. But keep telling yourself that.
Omega and Rolex are not in any way Porsche and Ferrari. BMW and Mercedes, if anything.
The Black Bay Pro is nicer anyway.
We all know you’re still going to buy a Rolly…
@@AK-jl5xt Not with stuff like the Tudor FXD GMT and Black Bay Monochrome coming out. Why would I?
The vast bulk of the cost of these very expensive watches goes towards marketing, fancy shops and the cushy management expenses. The actual cost of making the damn thing is only a small part of the final sales price.
Great, maybe the time will come again to take Rolex seriously as wristwatches as opposed to overpriced, overhyped, “look at me” type of Instagram fame show-off jewelry

Maybe if Rolex start taking themselves seriously again and stop telling their ADs to behave like assholes
I simply cannot understand the attraction of an artificially inflated scarcity. This whole process of marketing, limited access and thus pricing is a rort in my opinion. And on top of that they're mass produced.
Until you can walk in and out same day with a Pepsi or Daytona, it's not over.... Just simmered down
With 20% discounts 🤗🤗
@@troisk so what you're saying is the rolex hype market pre-existed covid

I cannot predict prices, but if Rolex doesn’t allow ADs to sell to new walk-in customers within the next 12 months then many collectors will never return. The AD can only say no so many times.

@@dannysimenauer5745Rolex doesn't make the ADs rules. They do.

Honestly. I don’t care about Rolex anymore, I came to see the comments and love people being fed up.
I still like Tudor even though I had an abysmal experience in Rome with Tudor not allowing me buying a bb41 monochrome burgunday. I didn’t have a relationship with them. 😂
Thankfully bucherer in Copenhagen made up for it. I really wanted it not because it was hype.

LOL tell that Rome Tudor AD to stop dreaming, it's just a Tudor.
I liked Tudor 5-10 years ago when their prices weren’t inflated like they are now.
My local AD is full of used car salesmen. Nothing for sale. Not going back. It’s over for me. I’ll spend my money elsewhere.
Precisely. The experience of walking into an AD looking to buy a Rolex and having to do the inane small talk doesn’t sit well with me.
Yep been on a waitlist too and got the call. I no longer desire paying 10K for S/S Rolex

Yes, most of all watches including Rolex look the same. The homage $130 Pagani looks exactly like a Rolex, and they use a reliable Japanese movement. I just don't see a need to spend $29K more for a watch that does the same thing.

Tbf, that's actually a nice watch for a woman in the 36mm dial.
Well said same happened to me at Audemars Piguet recently just disgusting

Great post!!
The Daytona is over hyped and over priced. When it first came out no one wanted it because it is nothing special.
Why the Daytona and not a Speedmaster or El Primero?

Also 98% of the ones in the wild are replicas.

This is completely dependent on where you are. Can’t make a blanket statement like this.
Not everyone lives in Liverpool.

Since 2023 Every 3 months another of these videos pops up, and it’s still not over.
Currency used to be not as devalued then. Inflation eats 10% of our purchasing power every year.
I find it SO mindblowing that relatively few people know that diamonds aren't anywhere near as valuable as they are made out to be, and that DeBeers artificially manipulate the price by restricting the supply!
That gold and blue Deepsea is so gaudy as to be pretty fucking cool actually!
Andrew's face in the thumbnail is a perfect representation of the phrase "tongue in cheek"!
Great, now I can finally get any Rolex at an AD without a wait list or any hassle...ohhhhh...never mind.
And how do they do that? Do they hold a gold-plated gun to the head of the customer?
@@capmidniteBy selling those things only as a “bundle”, “kit”, “sets” or whatever.
The customers are not being coerced. A luxury watch is certainly not a necessity in life.
Is this the mew marketing campaign? "The hype is over, the flippers have given up, the watch industry belongs to real enthusiasts again... so start spending..."
From a purely accounting perspective, you can tell how overpriced a product is by the size of a company’s marketing expense… and Rolex spend a ton!
This is so relevant - they marketing budget must be billions!
@@Bedrock1966 Marketing is everything. Brands sometimes take hundreds of years to establish and it costs billions to perfectly craft an image. If you look, most of the top luxury names are legacy brands, with exceptions like RM. Trump is also a perfect example of this, because of PR and marketing his name is worth more than he ever made in actual business ventures.
The secondary market hasn't corrected enough, in my opinion. Its hyperinflation due to speculators and opportunists was always totally unjustified, and hopefully we will see more people coming to their senses.
Bought my first Rolex GMT2 Pepsi in 1986 for £680 new, when that got nicked I got a submariner blue face steel and gold for £1800 new in 1989. Never understand how they got crazy money.
Because of irrational exuberance. Educated collectors are not buying over Rolex retail, and watching as prices normalize as before the Pandemic.
I bought a new gmt master for £2240,in approximately 2001as I recall.Always fancied one, sold it not long after.Never bonded with it and have never understood all the fuss about them.I only have two watches now,a Sinn and a Seiko Prospex LX gmt spring drive, the Seiko is without doubt the best watch I've owned and I would not part with it.
The Seiko spring drive is great, I have a GMT Chrono Ananta
Inflation. Currency is worth less today.
It wasn’t just Bitcoin and Rolex prices that rallied - all assets increased in price because of bad monetary policy.
2:24 Shots fired!
If u have something like a Rolex 1st, the 1st ever bi-colored Cerachrom Bezel. A Rolex 1st will always be a classic! The GMT BLNR 116710 is a classic becoming harder to get! With that being said, who would sell theirs and buy Gold?
Thank you for exposing the fraudulent diamond industry. Diamonds are not rare! Same with Rolex, they aren't rare either. Both companies have built their business models of false rarity and exclusiveness.
Everybody say that, but i am in damned waitlist for an oyster perpetual 41mm in black ,i look in grey market and she cost between 8000€ to 10000,when the retail price is 6550...so i dont see the market down at all...just the thrue reality
They are speculating at those prices! Offer 7,5 & I bet they’ll consider it. But for a black OP41 I’d wait it out at the AD. No-one wants one so shouldn’t be too difficult to get.
@@KeepingWatchUK i hope..but for thr moment they don't call me,i will visit them again just for see, thanks
I do not need an abusive relationship in my life to buy a watch. Fuck Rolex.
🤣
Very well made video. Thanks! Personally I gave up buying Rolex new or pre-owned long ago (not that I have any money to buy one anyway). When so many non watch people wearing Rolex, I felt this a not a brand for me anymore.
Watching this wearing my SBGV245 Grand Seiko Quartz.
Had never heard of this watch before, I just looked it up, that's an amazing piece
Oh Andrew. Did you have to do Danny Ric the dirty like that? 😂
I am unable to pair my Rolex to the Health App, and the GPS appears to not work at all. Who do I call?
Did you try changing batteries?
Switch it off and on again. Worked for me.

The ‘we’re not real watches’ group?
No longer want a Rolex Panda. Bought myself a Seiko speedmater panda & I'm happy.
Until I can go to my AD and easily walk out with a Pepsi then no the hype market is far from "over"
I hope that one day Rolex will decide to mass-produce the Rolex Pepsi. When everyone finally owns one, the hype should stop and those who spent $24,000 for a used one will take a major bath.
I absolutely love the clever quips throughout the video. They literally made me laugh out-loud! Thank you!
After buying 4 watches and some jewelry. I’m no longer interested or excited about buying a Daytona form my Rolex dealer. Thanks to you Andrew I’ve found other brands that have satisfied my needs. Thanks
Check out the Versace watches!
I have a 2013 Casio G-Shock and was looking to sell it and put all of the proceeds (after paying off a couple of outstanding debts) into upgrading to a gold Daytona, so it's great to hear that they have dropped in price.. . . . . . how far do you think they will drop though ? And when should I jump in ?
Rolex is still kind of ridiculous, but at least it’s not Jacob & Co….
That brand is hideous
Some say that Rolex forces each staff member to watch Charlie and the chocolate factory at least once a day
Some say Omega owners are in therapy to handle Omega owner fragility.
They are instructed to just repeat my Omega is better than a Rolex over and over in their safe spaces.
While they hug their therapy blankie.
@@rafaeloliva6425 It's ironic just how butthurt you are about Omega owners, whilst doing the exact thing you're trying to mock.
Good work clown shoes.
ps: I don't own an Omega, or particularly want one. There goes your no doubt mature and witty retort.
I see all of these youtubers saying that the market is dead, you can get watches quickly at ADs. So I tried it out and went to the ADs in my area (living in NL) asking for OP / sub / gmt and got the same old answers: not available and no waitlists (which means only VIP gets them). no steal models available, only mixed / full with gold which nobody wants.
I’m very much looking forward to Andrew’s Trump watch review.
The limited edition non-Tourbillon Trump watches are actually really nice looking. They are selling out every release so far.
@@sarikagoode1505 They look great don’t they, and every bit as good as Trump steaks, Trump vodka, Trump bibles, Trump gold trainers, shares in Trump Media and Trump University degrees?
Which one will you go for do you think?
@@johnnybgood7812 Trump gold trainers did really well for the flippers. They retailed at $399 and they are still selling for $4k and up. Trump’s fans are shoppers, and they will drop money on his merch, which is obviously their choice to do so. I’m actually looking at few of the watches, especially the green malachite version. It would go perfectly with a matching VCA bracelet.

You're probably not. They've forgotten about you.
You’re not on any list you don’t exist to them after that length of time I’m afraid you’ve waited for nothing
You were on a list to forget about xd
I sometimes wonder if its my interest for watches or your perpetual verbal creativity that keeps me hooked to your posts. I know which one it is ;)
Why am I still sitting on a waitlist??
Jeez man - listen carefully. He said it would take some time. ALSO, don’t depend on one AD in one place. That’s just HIS waitlist. All AD’s are not created equal. Each’s allocation is different and depends on their clientele and how much they sell. It’s not ROLEX’s waitlist
@@errolmclaughlin1482 nah mate I’m gonna go fight em
I talked to a watch enthusiast working at a Rolex AD. He said Rolex is cutting down the supply of new Rolex models to cope with the declining demand. So the watches, especially hot models will still be difficult to get. Might be easier if you are willing to bundle with other watches in the AD.
