Please keep being a part of the Try Family. It’s such a pleasure to see you and Kwesi in the videos. And I love listening to u talk. You have a wonderful energy about u ❤
Jonny, if you ever decide to post more of the process and the cake fails, youtube is probably the best place to do it. I would definitely love to see it
Referring to the clip at 16:35, I think it would be brilliant if you did show clips of your attempts :). I appreciate you sharing your concern about depressed kids and teens and social media, and while it may have seemed like a silly thought to worry about what the kids may think, I find that your concern is very, very real. And I think the youth would benefit from seeing how experts like you eventually succeed through trial and error :))
you are sooo entertaining. i JUST made my cereal bowl cake and fooled my friend. it was awesome. my next one will be even better ;) i may try my own spoon next time. thanx for lustre tip in this interview
Rainie is so damn good at active listening and asking important questions that drive the conversation forward in a meaningful way. I'm literally taking notes. Hearing how Rainie navigates conversations has been really helpful as someone on the spectrum trying to be better with this exact thing.
@@aaliyahrandom I was reiderating what he had said an acting teacher told him. It's simply true....why would you feel it necessary to call out a sincere compliment?
@@lauraska95 It was actually close to something he mentioned an acting instructor gave him and I whole-heartedly agree. I'd rather see him be himself than some created character. He's much more interesting, charming and charasmatic than anyone could write.
Omg imagine the behind the scenes of Rachel’s attempt to make the WAR food item and where she thinks things would go wrong and her estimates of how well the guys will do
Jonny's worry about kids only seeing perfect things on social media and feeling more depressed is really touching. Showing failures and process is important I think! Binging with Babish does it pretty frequently in a nice way imo
I’m a high school art teacher and I SO appreciate Johnny bringing up the issue of creativity being displayed in perfectly curated 1 min videos. One of my biggest challenges as a teacher is keeping students motivated and helping them to develop the ability to sustain focus and appreciate the process involved with creating things. What Johnny brings up is a really real problem young people are facing right now as a result of social media, I would love to see more videos of Johnnys process. I understand that due to algorithms, you still have to do those quicker videos, but a more behind the scenes vlog style series showing the process would be great to show the reality of creativity.
The problem isn't social media or Johnny, it's the parents of these children not restricting them from being on TikTok 24/7. Had the same problem until I stopped using TikTok, Shorts, and Instagram. These things aren't meant to be consumed one after the other all day, every day.
I always tought to be a JonnyCakes stan but after I watch him say that he would change his video in perspective to help depressed kids, I'm gonna definitely defend and protect this man to the world and beyond! He's a sweet cupcake who deserves only the best!
16:55 yesss please jonny we need videos like this on the internet. as a beginner baker, it does feel very demotivating when you see all these people make picture perfect cakes and desserts. i wanna know the behind, how long it takes, how many failures one went through to get that perfect dessert
Love the conversation about failure. Being in your 20s high key sucks sometimes and I love hearing Rainie ask these questions. Not “how do I deal with failure” but “how did you deal with failure” Obsessed
Okay, so I know try guys did illusion cakes, but I think we need a try guys (or try spouses) episode where they try out Jonny Cakes cake kit 😊 Like if Zach, Miles or Kwesi could make it then I feel like I could make it too 😂
This was sooo good! I laughed, I cried, I smiled, I teared up...it was a roller-coaster of an emotion & I loved every minute of it! Jonny is so good with storytelling
really love these more casual interview style episodes! i love getting to know the various people that make up the Second Try Universe in this casual setting. it really does feel like friends hanging out but i enjoy the more purposeful nature of the conversation
Okay see matt and i are two virgos that think the exact same when johnny was asking about ideas i was like oh maybe a cat, immediately matt got it, when johnny said no animals i thought well a plant would be nice, again matt is on it. We love matt
i love how rainie and maggie ask questions! always so thoughtful. loved learning more about jonny! and loved matts idea with the succulent cakes. cant wait to see more of jonny!
35:40 YES JOHNNY embrace that star power!! i've had my fingers crossed for johnny to guest someday and share his failed-actor-turned-baker journey and i'm really happy it was matt and maggie who got to talk w him abt these stories. it's been amazing going from WAR's first cake ep w johnny as a special judge to him becoming a regular fixture in the try universe; i'll never forget the thrill of pride i felt when johnny was on is it cake and i'm happy he gets to flex that netflix is the one who hit him up first 😤as they should! this was both a wholesome and encouraging ep in a lot of ways. i also really appreciated johnny and maggie's insights on rejection during those "periods of transition" (28:32) since i feel like their convo reflecting my feelings throughout my 20something existential crises ^^; ik i still have a lot of chances to figure my stuff out but it felt nice to have folks verbalize that feeling of internal/external expectations. thanks for this wonderful guest ep!!
Omg Jonny Cake's mom was recognized in court as being famous for "Hi my gay fans" Awww how adorable!!! Yay Jonny Cakes and his adorable mom who I had no idea was also a lawyer wow so cool!
Great interview! I love that he acknowledged that kids think their life isn’t as perfect as what ghetto see on social media and he she post some of his projects that don’t turn out well, the first time. What a good heart!!
i need jonny as a recurring podcast guest or hosting his own podcast or him and rainie together because her questions were crushing this interview and i could listen to his stream of conscious hilarity for hourssssss
Not gonna lie I think Jonny is such an interesting person and I love his attitude about hey people fail don't be afraid to. Just keep at it and don't give up! Also I LOVE the idea of the cartoon cake being a kit. I know so many people, along with teens and kids, who would love to make it! The burger is also a great idea! Also for a random cake idea I'm not sure why but I've always thought a large pickle jar would be interesting though I don't know how many people would be interested in making or eating it lol
Johnny, I would love to see your whole process for cakes in a video :) I love creators like Rachel Maksy who show that there's ablot of work And frustrations behind a tiktok or insta post. Makes It feel more normal to not get everything right the first time.
My 80 year old mom and I watch Is It Cake? We enjoyed it very much and was sad when there were no more episodes on Netflix. I would watch a show of JC making cakes. Love him in the Try Guys videos.
The enemies to lovers that open up a bakery in a small town idea Matt had for Jonny falling in love is a Hallmark movie we need now. And it has to be gay, of course.
I just feel like Johnny would be so fun in voice acting, it’s different from being on screen, but his voice is so distinctive that I feel like he would do so well
My favorite way to make Vegan Butter cream is to add a citrus flavoring like Key Lime Butter cream. I use Miyoko’s European Style Cultured Vegan Butter. I reduce the sugar and the lime juice really cuts the sweetness down.
I always though that Jonny was trained at CIA (no, not the politically problematic one). He is amazingly talented. I enjoyed hearing about the the man, the legend behind those fantastic cakes. He is articulate and just as fascinating as all his cakes. BTW hearing about Auggie (the pre-schooler) made me misty-eyed. Not sure when this YCSWU was filmed, but Jonny could always ZOOM with Auggie and have a special cake/toy delivered? Yes, those parents are raising a very special human.
I sincerely enjoy watching Jonny. He could be in the zone and doing cakes or he could be flinging himself out of a plane, I don't care, I just want ALL the Jonny!!!
I love talking about myself! Thanks for having me!
You are a delight! 🙂
Please keep being a part of the Try Family. It’s such a pleasure to see you and Kwesi in the videos. And I love listening to u talk. You have a wonderful energy about u ❤

I see Jonny I click, simple.
yes

Literally the only reason I clicked this.
Same!
sameee
Rainie is so damn good at active listening and asking important questions that drive the conversation forward in a meaningful way. I'm literally taking notes. Hearing how Rainie navigates conversations has been really helpful as someone on the spectrum trying to be better with this exact thing.
I love Rainie's questions! She's a delight.
I noticed that too! She's a really good listener & doesn't ask in a way that intimidates the other person. It's very comfortable to listen to
Tbh, I'm glad that Jonny is a "failed actor". His actual persona is far better than any written character.
This is such a nice compliment, I hope he reads this
Lol she didn’t come up with this herself. Thats what he was told. He says it early on in the podcast.
@@aaliyahrandom I was reiderating what he had said an acting teacher told him. It's simply true....why would you feel it necessary to call out a sincere compliment?

Give Johnny a second try show!! I would also love to see Johnny and Rachel bake together
The Baking Adventures of Rachel and Jonny!
Watching him try to improve on Keith's soup macarons made me want a whole show of him trying to improve on the guy's weirdest creations.
@@karyon1007omg genius! 😮
Omg imagine the behind the scenes of Rachel’s attempt to make the WAR food item and where she thinks things would go wrong and her estimates of how well the guys will do
Or one with Matt and others and call it the Try Gays. That would be the best.
Jonny's worry about kids only seeing perfect things on social media and feeling more depressed is really touching. Showing failures and process is important I think! Binging with Babish does it pretty frequently in a nice way imo

i love the way that raine is able to direct conversations and easily bring up previously mentioned topics
Yes, she's great at that!
great listener and interviewer
I agree! She has only gotten better at it the more podcasts she does, I love her!
Petition to have Johnny as a rotating guest on YCSWU because he is an absolute delight 😊
Yes, please!!!
I always tought to be a JonnyCakes stan but after I watch him say that he would change his video in perspective to help depressed kids, I'm gonna definitely defend and protect this man to the world and beyond!
He's a sweet cupcake who deserves only the best!
The preschool with Jonny was one of my favorites.
Jonny is so down on his work. Bringing joy, making food and art, these things should be important parts of society. Be proud of your craft Jonny!
Yes! Yes yes yes!
Jonny is such a lovely addition to the tri guys! This era is the best.
Rainie is so great at interviewing!! Her questions add so much depth to the interview please don’t ever stop🤍
Johnny is so damn delightful. I’m so glad that he’s out here being himself and doing a thing he loves!
16:55 yesss please jonny we need videos like this on the internet. as a beginner baker, it does feel very demotivating when you see all these people make picture perfect cakes and desserts. i wanna know the behind, how long it takes, how many failures one went through to get that perfect dessert
jonny is a STAR. give him everything he wants and put him in everything
I could listen to Jonny talk endlessly. His humor makes me smile.
Love the conversation about failure. Being in your 20s high key sucks sometimes and I love hearing Rainie ask these questions. Not “how do I deal with failure” but “how did you deal with failure” Obsessed
so thankful that the true guys brought johnny cakes into my world. such a funny, talented person
Dude, the Ear Thing would be a freaking hit with kids!
Or a Monster Cake kit for Halloween.
Rainie - your confidence and questions on the show has grown so much! I want a show where you are the official host !!
The try guys launched Johnnys career!!!
They ARE the new BuzzFuzz!!!!!
❤❤❤😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉
Behind the Cake is definitely a segment that needs to continue.. 🎂 😊
I love love love hearing that he embraced being himself and is happy to not have to fit a mold anymore 🥲
Rainie is a freaking FIEND with those hard hitting questions! ❤
Okay, so I know try guys did illusion cakes, but I think we need a try guys (or try spouses) episode where they try out Jonny Cakes cake kit 😊
Like if Zach, Miles or Kwesi could make it then I feel like I could make it too 😂
Dude having all the try spouses would be so dope! Maggie, Becky and Matt and then someone else like Kwesi, miles or Rainie too would be awesome! 🤩
We need more Johnny's in this world!!! 💗
WAIT! So Jonny actually started his online baker persona sorta on Without a Recipe? I shall rewatch.
Sooooo we need to have another party for Auggie that Jonny CAN go to obvs
Please make this happen for Prince Auggie!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Dude this would be awesome for Auggie! 🤩✨
Maggie is so bubbly in this episode ! I also love her outfit☺️
This was sooo good! I laughed, I cried, I smiled, I teared up...it was a roller-coaster of an emotion & I loved every minute of it! Jonny is so good with storytelling

rainie is the QUEEN of coming up with introspective and insightful questions!!! 👏👏👏
Jonny is such a delight! So glad he's part of the Try fam now.
I would love to see a holiday themed cake kit. Maybe making a snow globe?
To put you at ease I think the only reason Is It Cake? is big is because it’s played all day long at the dentists office 😂
Rainie needs an interview show! She asks such interesting questions.
OMG I was just thinking last week about how much I wanted Jonny on the podcast!! He’s so naturally funny and always a great time.
Rainie is such a good interviewer, this lady is going places!!!
Jonny - do a kit for succulent cupcakes!!!
listening to jonny talk is so comforting. almost therapeutic tbh
I also think it's important to have videos of you screaming F*CK, JonnyCakes
I wish this episode was three hours long! It was way too short!
Okay see matt and i are two virgos that think the exact same when johnny was asking about ideas i was like oh maybe a cat, immediately matt got it, when johnny said no animals i thought well a plant would be nice, again matt is on it. We love matt
Love seeing Jonny on every Try Guys anything ❤️
MR. CAKES???? ON YCSWU???? A truly amazing day!!
I'd love to try one of the cool toilets that I've seen in Korea and Japan! The Try Guys should Without Instructions using Jonny's cake kit.
Johnny's vibe is everything I need... always. 😍

I think Matt and Jonny are going to be best friends
Johnny talking about the most fascinating thing I've heard all week: "Stop me if this is boring."
💀
I haven’t watched the pod in a while (I’m a Spotify girly)- but Maggie glowwwwws, she’s radiant ✨

saw jonny and clicked so fast! been a fan of him since is it cake. hes such a delight!
On cake kit:
Little succulents
Robot toy (like the rectangular, 1960s style aesthetic)
Toy vehicles (like Tonka trucks)
Maggie is just the most magically beautiful person inside and out.
Great interview! I love that he acknowledged that kids think their life isn’t as perfect as what ghetto see on social media and he she post some of his projects that don’t turn out well, the first time. What a good heart!!
Loved this episode!! Johnny's insights are so funny and insightful I love him! The vibes of everyone in the pod were fantastic in general!

Yes!!! Can we please take a minute to list all of Matt's killer ideas on this episode?
I just feel like Johnny would be so fun in voice acting, it’s different from being on screen, but his voice is so distinctive that I feel like he would do so well
I love this podcast, Jonny is an amazing person!
I would absolutely call Maggie for my contracting needs 😂
Love JonnyCakes in everything he does. Especially phoning it in. But also everything!
how can you not cancel all prior obligations to go to Augie's birthday?!?!!?
My favorite way to make Vegan Butter cream is to add a citrus flavoring like Key Lime Butter cream. I use Miyoko’s European Style Cultured Vegan Butter. I reduce the sugar and the lime juice really cuts the sweetness down.

Have the podcast crew try to make one of Johnnys cake kits and have him judge the best one without knowing who made which one 🎂

YES to all the Johnny content we've been getting. He's such a funny talented man I hope he's on more episodes of this and Johnny Bakes.
Totally vote for seeing the behind the scenes (failures) of making hyper realistic cakes!!!!!
I want a bon appetite Claire style show for Jonny
I am loving watching Jonny in Try content.
I just want Jonny to be a regular on this podcast.
Jonny didn’t fail to be come an actor, he’s just on strike!
Wow I had no idea try guys discovered Jonny before Is It Cake. What an icon.
AT LAST JONNY IS SITTING WITH US!!!
I love the serious topic at the end. Rainie we're the same we're not dating and not that our priority. 😂😅
Instead of calling the shoe cake “convarse” you could call it “Jonverse”
I really, really enjoy this episode!! Such a interesing topics. And Raine! Always great questions! Lots of love to you guys
Wow! We got to see Jonny’s origins and we didn’t even know it!
I sincerely enjoy watching Jonny. He could be in the zone and doing cakes or he could be flinging himself out of a plane, I don't care, I just want ALL the Jonny!!!
Now we want Kwesi on this podcast!
More Johnny ♥️ I love him. He is so entertaining.
I need a video of professional chef/pastry chef vs Matt lol kinda like the pro chef vs home chef please
