Eugene and Matt have been together 11 years WOW
Congratulations 🎊
I didn’t realize how long Matt has been around. I mean the moment he showed up everyone fell in love … but knowing he has been around way before I thought. Honestly makes things even more magical.
Haven't they been dating since Byzzfeed days
@@nickjames8377i’m pretty sure they’ve said they started dating late 2012🥹
Matt just exudes calm and steadiness - as someone who relates to Eugene's stress and intensity, I'm happy for him that he has that balancing support in his life.
As someone who relates to Eugene, I’m gonna cry so hard when I find my Matt
As a trans person, Eugene's video was so impactful to me. All of 2nd Try's commitment to being trans supportive has been particularly needed, especially with all of the horrid anti-trans legislation being introduced across the nation. Thanks to all y'all for being amazing! Seeing Zach or Becky or anybody sport some kind of small clothing nod to the trans community is so small, yet so powerful.
❤❤
Idk if people remember but Dan and Phil also came out like within days of Eugene and seeing that trifecta of childhood role models finally coming out was so impactful
That's so wild, I know back then I must have known they all came out around the same time, but now in my mind Eugene's coming out video was ages before Dan's! Memory is weird
It was so nice seeing all my favorite creators coming out all so close to each other. Each of their videos is so special
oh my god, i definitely remembered that time
Becky chatting casually about death and cannibalism is perfect
I got viscerally excited at the mention of Yellowjackets lmao
I will forever feel bamboozled by the Matt + Eugene timeline. It really felt like he came out of nowhere in that Australia video, but he's literally been around since before BuzzFeed. 😅
Eugene helped me figure everything out. I knew I was Ace before discovering the Try Guys - but there was a moment, I was listening to the audiobook and Eugene was reading his section and I was driving. And suddenly I was struck, I was a lesbian. I can’t explain it properly, but I just started to cry while listening and everything just fell into place. ❤
Former Pharmacy Tech here. The "non-safety" version of lids are in place predominately for seniors and anyone who struggles to open the lids due to weakness in hands, injuries, etc.
If you are an individual who would prefer your lids come that way, most pharmacies will allow you to place into your profile/chart/whatever term they use, that you desire non-safety lids and they will be given to you by the pharmacy in that flipped, easy open setting.
Edit: The bottle Becky produced *does* have a version of the non-safety lid. There is an inner plastic lid that can be popped out and used. It's mostly clear, so it is very hard to see inside the white plastic lid. You can tell if it is there by feeling inside the lid as the secondary lid is a softer plastic and feels quite different. Any flat tool should be able to pop it out. When in doubt, ask the pharmacist and they should be able to pop it out for you (That's how I know, I saw my pharmacist do it).
I believe manufacturers started putting them in because they were being given to patients and not put into the other bottles. Some meds stay in the "stock" bottles due to storage requirements too. This lid also applies to the non-safety request of a pharmacy.
This is the comment I was looking for!
My meds come in 30 pill bottles from the manufacturer, so the pharmacy doesn't bother counting them, but the techs un-childproof my bottles for me, I don't even have to ask anymore 😂
The safety lids fascinate me so much as a non-American.
I'm catching up on YCSWU, and hearing Becky sharing about making their living will, & so many other things she's said on the pod in the last 9 months, makes SO much sense with the context of the Habersbaby
I cried watching his coming out video. I’m Bi and I felt those emotions so strongly. Eugene came out in his artistic style and it is still one of my favorite videos on RUclips.
I always have a little glimmer of hope at the opening credits to hear Ariel's voice saying hello :(
Her input was always so balanced and calming and I really miss it. I hope she's coping as best as she can be
Wait when!??
@@Emivibes96when what
@@samdono4244 when do you hear Ariel’s voice
@@Emivibes96they said they hope to hear her voice, but don’t. since she used to be on the pod and no longer is.
@@juliannaevierivera mmm ok just bad wording
Keith and Becky's planning ahead is a good thing to do. My grandparents and my parents had their burials already planned. It was such an emotional time when they passed, so not having to make a lot of decisions about their burial really helped. Because of that we were sure that their wishes were followed. Eugene's coming out video was so beautiful and powerful!
It really is one of the most loving things you can do for your kids! Love Becky ❤
Love Becky and Keith's advanced directives. That's hysterical.
Eugene’s video still brings tears to my eyes and I’m straight. It is truly a work of art.
Ok wait but backing up to advance directives, it's really important for members of the queer community and trans people especially to have those in place. It can prevent a family member who you're estranged from but who keeps control of your body from deadnaming and burying you under the wrong gender. it's super important for everyone, but especially the queer community, so topically relevant! thank you for bringing it up, Becky!
This reminds me of Sharon Kowalski and her partner Karen Thompson. Sharon was in a terrible car accident and her (homophobic) family decided they would “care” for her after the accident despite Sharon’s wishes. Karen spent YEARS in fighting legal battles to be able to care for the woman she loves. Being able-bodied is a temporary thing. Every single one of us can become disabled at any moment. It’s important to have your wishes written, signed, and witnessed.
Yes Ask a Mortician did a video on this about having advanced directives for trans folks so they are correctly gendered and named
@@hntrthmpsn "Being able-bodied is a temporary thing. Every single one of us can become disabled at any moment." EXACTLY. Imani Barbarin has said something like this, that disabled is the one minority group that anyone can join at any time.
As a guy who is straight I felt the video was incredible. The missus asked me to watch it and I was in tears at how much Gay/Bi people have to go through just for being themselves.
Growing up it’s not something I even thought about simply because it wasn’t talked about or if it was it certainly wasn’t talked about in front of children. The last 20 years since I left High School has been such an eye opener about the real world and watching that video made me feel like shit that I had no idea about what went on because it clearly went on for a long time before I became aware of it.
I am so proud of Eugine for the video: it was fucking amazing
I love Becky! She and Keith are both like "AVENGE ME!"
In case no one has already mentioned it - bottles like the one Becky pulled out actually have a “second” / “hidden” cap under the visible cap. When it’s fully secured you should be able to fully “flick off” the top cap
I was inspired and empowered to come out to my parents the day I saw Eugene’s video, truly one of the most important videos on RUclips in my opinion
Also Matt you could sell the eggs to egg eating snake owners. It's really hard for most of them to find eggs that small
FYI fun death option: human composting ❤ you get back a ton a dirt to be as many trees as you want. My husband works at return home in WA and they are working on legalizing it in more states.
what a lovely and supportive partner matt is 🥺🥺 both Eugene and Matt are so lucky to have each other 🥹🫶
I remember being on my lunch break at work watching Eugene's coming out video, and I fully started sobbing. It was beautiful ❤️
I love being queer, happy pride!!
But seriously Eugene worked hard on that video and I loved it. That’s when I decided to stop hiding and just straight up say! Yes I’m lgbtq and I’m happy about it ❤
I am 100% on the same page with the Odesza song. Everytime I hear it I now think, on top of it being a great song, about how meaningful it is to me and others and tear up a little.
Such a magnificent video. I can't believe its 4 years old already
Love how supportive they all are of their partners 🥲
his is my favorite coming out video, it's so succinct, it captures everything i felt without a single word. it's wonderful
For my day job I'm an estate planning attorney (so my job is to write wills/trusts, living wills, and all that jazz). Becky is correct that being prepared and having a plan is always better than trying to make decisions during a crisis. So people, get some kind of plan done. Also, the Terri Schiavo case took nearly ten years of her parents & spouse fighting over what to do with her, which is definitely not what she would have wanted for herself (this is why having a plan is always the best option). Also update your plan after marriages, divorces, new kids, or the deaths of loved ones and other trusted helpers. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk today.
I'm beyond pumped for this one! ❤❤❤ Eugene's video was and still is absolutely perfect
Just want to put this out there:
We actually covered his coming out video as part of an activity for an art and culture class in a country where being part of the community is illegal. As a fellow queer Asian person, I was overjoyed and was more than happy to give a (slightly too long) presentation on it.
11:43 it was in the courts 7 years before the husband was able to remove life support in 2005 (after 15 years of being in an irreversible persistent vegetative state).
You can actually pop the top off the container Becky had for it to not be child proofed - there's a second cap underneath and that's why you have to push down so it catches the secondary cap
Was coming to say the same
I have a bottle exactly like hers and have done this, because it’s so much easier.
Never been this early! When Eugene's video came out, I was sending it to EVERYBODY xoxoxo
The numbering on all these podcasts is truly so consistently chaotic and I’m here for it
I had to search for specific episodes when I found the pod and caught up with it a year or 2 ago. Some of them don't appear when you try to listen using only the playlist. This TryPod is the same way..
Two weeks ago it was episode 151 😂😂😂
Ope. Given the previous 2 replies, do you think they might be intentionally removing episodes?
@SnowmanInABlizzard Idk about removing episodes, but the number of episodes in the play all playlist doesn't match the number episode that they are currently on. It could be that they simply forgot to add them to the playlist, because when I caught myself up, I could find them when I searched. It also didn't seem like it was obvious why the episodes weren't included. I don't remember thinking the topics were all that scandalous or whatever. But then again, it takes more to shock me than the average person, it seems like, so I could have missed something.
I remember Terri Schaivo, as a middle school student growing up in the deep south it had a profound effect on me. I actually just read up on her case and I can't believe her parents allowed her to be a vegetable for 15 years--she was only 26 when she went into cardiac arrest!!
Death planning -- remember, its not just about what to do with your remains, but you need to think about what if you're incapable of taking care of your finances too. I had serious surgery last fall and had all directions written out in the event that something happened. So all my logins for bills, accts, due dates, etc.
I love the friendship between you three and that you guys can legit talk about anything haha
Cannibalism but with Keith's Chicken sauce 😌
Eugene’s coming out video and the Queer Icons video are essential viewing for Pride Month.
It's a beautiful video. Every once in a while I go back to watch it and cry.
Love this pod so much. It's such a good escape for me from reality
I'm going to be turned into soil by the company Recompose!! I'm going to have my family keep some and plant with it, and the rest sent to one of their forest regeneration projects! 🥰
This is the pod I've been waiting for!!
Becky, you CAN remove the child lock on those caps. You'll see there's like two layers to the cap. Push up on the outer one (maybe use a spoon as a lever) and the outer cap will come off. I tried it and there's a little clear cap underneath. So mad I didn't know before
It also works on cough syrup bottles
This is amazing news, me and my arthritic hands thank you for this information
That video is always something I watch when i need to feel some emotions...its beautifully done and the story is so deep, and the musical choice was impeccable to evoke those emotions as well. It's seriously a beautiful piece of art that I wish i could just hang on a wall 😅
Eugene’s video was incredibly powerful! Always great to hear more about it. Matt is so cute 🥰 Happy Pride! 🌈💖
omg Becky's hairstyle 😍 the ladies are looking soo elegant today!
For Advance Directives, the law depends on the state. Here in Colorado we do not have any kinship laws so if you don’t appoint anybody and you need a decision maker, we need to talk to every person who is invested in your care and they have to come up with the decision maker (I am a hospital Social Worker). It can get real messy!! Definitely a point someone - it is a very basic form. My hospital system has the option to complete it on our app! Easy peezy. Just do it!
Also your Living Will outlines only what you want while you are still alive but dying. Your funeral choices belong in your Will and Testament. The most important thing is that your people know what you want because you Will may not be available right away.
It’s a lot but totally worth it and super easy to edit once it’s written.
So glad you all mentioned this! Love to you!
Covid was the push for my husband and I to do our will. It was mainly to voice our wishes on who would raise our son and second string ppl to have power of attorney.
Omg Becky and Maggie! I just discovered that the pill bottles Becky has can also be de-child locked! It blew my mind. It's more difficult, you have to push the outer part of the top up, the part that spins until you press on it.
Advance directives are SO important! Everyone over age 18 should have something in place. I live/work in Wisconsin and we are NOT a "next-of-kin" state even with marriage. If someone does not have any advance directive for healthcare or finances in place, your spouse/family has to go through the court process to get guardianship.
Thank you Becky and Keith for setting an example :)
wait they should totally do more advice style things - THEY R SO GOOD AT IT!
Bro these first several minutes. I’ve been missing out on you can sit with us 😂
I had the opportunity to watch Nimona last week, I won’t say anything except that it was incredible!! Go see it when you can!
I'm surprised that Matt and Eugene have be been together so long. I cannot WAIT until they (hopefully) decide to get married and we get to watch! It's (theoretically) gonna BE AMAZING.
Good on y'all for keeping certain personal life matters not totally in public view. It's healthy!🎉
You actually can get manufacturer bottles to be easy open. They have an inner ring that is easy open. In a pharmacy we have a tool that lets you do it easily but you can pry the top lid off and leave just the inner screw-on top. We refer to them as 'snap' caps generally!
lmao the description of a private equity fund as a bank had me rolling
Becky, you can pop the child lock top off of your prescription bottle!
@Becky and Maggie on 3:03 : Greetings from your friendly pharm tech here! you can most definitely make the ones from the manufacturer easy open. You just need to remove the hard outer layer off with a vial cap opener (the one that looks like a hook) to separate it from the clear plastic cap underneath. Or you can angle the bottle cap at the edge of the counter and try to remove it that way too. :) you can also request your pharmacy staff to make a note in your profile to make your rx caps easy open
The second bottle, you can pry of the outter cap to remove the child lock. I have grip issues and i learned this one just a few months ago, very handy!
In the manufacture bottle you can hit the edge of the lid against a counter and pop off that top layer. It will give you a snap cap/ twist off cap!
becky looks so pretty with her slicked back bun! 🥰
that video feels like yesterday omg I can't believe it's been so long
I knew the pill bottle trick! Lol I'd also like the tree pod burial unless I go under suspicious circumstances, because I watch too much true crime, too 😅
OMG I did know Nimona was being adapted I love that graphic novel
Just stopped the video to rewatch the video - it remains one of the most beautiful and wrenching videos I have ever seen. 45:14
Now i can only remember the "I'm not going to be good at this i only do hip-hop" line from them trying ballet 😂😂😂😂
Becky you’re so adorable 💚🥰💚
11 years? Wow 😅 I love them
There's something both comforting and concerning about learning I have the same editing style as Eugene
The Terry Schiavo stuff went on for 15 years! I lived in the Tampa area for the 90s and even though I was a kid, I remember it always being on TV
Note to editor: this is showing as ep 126 for me and on the thumbnail? Might just be my browser being slow but wanted to flag :) thanks for the episode!!!
IM SO SORRY BUT IM SO EXCITED PEOPLE ARE FINDING OUT ABOUT THE SNAP CAPS WITH THE PILL VIALS!!!
but no unfortunately, the stock bottles (the bottle that Becky is holding) do not "snap cap" like an orange vial. THEY DO HOWEVER make this like lever thingy where you can pop off the top of the cap and make it a normal screw on rather than pressing down for them.
IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE OPENING CAPS PLEASE REQUEST SNAP CAPS FROM YOUR PHARMACY!! WE WILL GLADLY ACCOMDATE FOR YALL!!
I used to take probiotics when I would take antibiotics because it *can* help with the acute side effects like nausea, but then I read studies that show that doing that ironically actually makes it so that your gut bacteria balance take several more months to re-balance than if you don't take probiotics with or right after them. And it's because there's usually only one or a few strains in probiotic supplements, and because the antibiotics wipe large amounts of them, the one/few strains will overpopulate and take over but there's not enough diversity.
50:30 there is also a Venice, Florida which might add a bit more of context to the situation!
Well now I have to go watch it again
I know I might be the only one who asks this but, could you guys possibly add like sections? to your videos I forget what they're called but basically I just think it would be nice to be able to skip certain subjects like death or burial etc. I can't think of what it's called but in some other podcasts/videos they name each section of the video that's about a certain subject or just the overall theme of the subjects. It's just a thought/request but I just thought I'd ask because I'm still dealing with the grief of losing a loved one and sometimes even hearing about like burial planning can make me emotional. Love the Podcast!
The package that Becky had for her medication can be unchild locked. You just have to get the lip of the top white part and bash it down against a table and there is a lid inside that lid (I work in a pharmacy and we do it often for those with limited hand dexterity)
It’s funny about Becky’s death plan, I literally just 3 day ago was talking about I think no one should be cremated if someone dies if there’s any suspicious or unusual deaths!
I have a countdown widget on my phone for Nimona . I am so excited.
Love y'all!!!
As a child, from like 2 years old, my parents would ask me to open most of the child proof things, because they really struggled with opening them, specially mom, but I thought that it was easy. And I'm really good at putting together IKEA furniture 😊
Maggie this color looks AHMAZING on you!!!!
okay but actually with maggies TIL in the beginning, her bottle is pretty specific but if it has the cap like beckys bottle, even if its an orange one with that lid, you can actually push the top layer of child lock, its hard as hell to do but you can do it, its like a little shell on top of the non child lock lid that makes it child locking
I watch a homestead farmer and he treated bumble foot with a bath of some sort. Just put their ducks in a solution (maybe salt water? I'm not sure) for like 20-30 mins a day and it seemed to help. But maybe it doesn't work for Quail. But possibly worth looking into as a less invasive first option
Maybe it was Epsom salt? We use that for abcesses in horses' feet to draw out the infection. Not sure if that would work for quails though
Spooky Becky is my favorite Becky!
I feel like Becky and Keith would be into organic human reduction (human composting). Which just so happens to be legal in the state of California. Edited to add that the compost can go into a little garden or whatnot.
Could y’all please do a episode about the handmaid’s tale please it’s my favorite show atm and I want y’all’s opinions on it
try guys fan.... first time watching you can sit with us.. the calm halves of the relationships. lol
OMFG NIMONA LOOKS SOOOOOOOO GOOD TOO
THIS IS HOW I FIND OUT THAT NIMONA, A GRAPHIC NOVEL I READ IN HIGH SCHOOL AND HAS NEVER BEEN ABLE TO FIND, IS BECOMING A MOVIE?????
Omph, the girlfriend situation mentioned reminded me of lyrics from Hayley Kiyoko's "What I Need":
When we're all alone, girl, you wanna own it
When we're with your fam, you don't wanna show it
Oh, you're tryna keep us on the low
I only want a girl who ain't afraid to love me
Not a metaphor of what we really could be
Oh, I ain't putting on a show
That sucks 😥 I also identify as bi, and I'm non-monogamous as well, so that makes things even more interesting when it comes to gatherings! I'm with you guys of talk to the girlfriend, state how you feel hurt...and be prepared to walk away if necessary. Spending your whole life hiding and pretending is just hell. Sending love and support her way (and for any other listener in a similar situation!)
Is there a reason why this episode is called Ep. 126? I thought they had already passed Ep. 150?
Unless I missed something?
Hamsters and small rodents can get bumblefoot too, that’s why cages with wire floors are bad and wire mesh wheels are bad
(amongst a lot of other bad small animal care. Sadly most pet stores still sell cages that are 5x too small and even some of the food they sell or “advice” they provide are completely inappropriate)
I can't believe I never knew Matt predated Buzzfeed!!
Maggie is such a nurse 😂 Q 12 hours
Ohh matt your megawatt smile ❤❤❤❤❤
As a non-binary bisexual it made me so happy ❤❤❤
Omg same and Hiiii. My fav joke is if you’re NB and Bi, are any of your relationships gay or straight?
@@alishac5096 hahahah
Becky is just the most relatable. I, too, worry about my mortal remains if I am murdered.
