    • @RetroTekGuyAU
      @RetroTekGuyAU 3 года назад +5

I actually don't know how to answer this. I think you can reach 11s with a turbo barra cheaper as a whole than you can with a Coyote. If you're starting from scratch! So for cost my vote is on the Barra. You can get an XT falcon for 500 bucks, Pick up a green or red Barra motor for maybe the same if you shop around, A cheap turbo kit for like 2 grand, Another grand on an exhaust system, Tune it for a grand and you're pretty much there. Its not hard to run speed with a T-Barra, But doing that from scratch with a V8? A boss? It's hard to even buy one now let along build it up. But being a Barra man myself.... And you probably know this. I want what the GT's have, Because you just cannot beat a V8 with a good ol manual box.

Lots of documented low k coyote failures from the factory, many Ford not wanting to foot the bill. Can't remember hearing similar from a barra. Maybe new generation coyotes are sorted. I remember there was a time the manufactures would bend over backwards to help the consumer out through warranty. Now its the consumer bending over....

    • @GapSauceYoutube

Sadly, it is the consumer who bends over these days.
The Aussie spirit is slowly diminishing, let's just hope there are enough genuine people left to keep it alive going forward. We have an amazing country here, and we should all be proud and do our part.
Oil pump gears are probably the most common failure for the coyote, but same for the barra. Both very stout engines and definitely demand respect.

The barra has the rep for slaying drag times but its real appeal is the cost to run 500hp mine was 10k+12k mods so they will never be a new barra, sure the coyote's are fast and make easy power but the price will always mean its never coming close to being a barra. Coyote would be in 90% of Ford owners cars if the price and supply were equal to that of the barra 6.
I think the argument of which is more cost effective probably comes down to what the owner wishes to achieve as a final outcome
I love my boss and plan on keeping it forever but if I tripped over a Coyote whilst out for a walk and it were in as good condition or better than my boss I'd swap it without a second thought. Given that's unlikely to happen when the boss gets tired I might just do an angry NA build regardless of value or cost effectiveness.

    Totally bias
    Coyotes eat Barra period
    Bang for buck Barra wins
Cos to get into coyote you gotta buy a Mustang (gen 2 is the benchmark Miami doesn’t count low comp weak internals)
So 15/17 Mustang vs any turbo Barra car
The Barra needs bigger injectors and turbo to equal the 15/17 Mustang stock
To equal what I have in my Mustang you could totally track ready a XR turbo with 600+kw and smoke my 380rwkw n/a Mustang
At this point coyote takes over 600+kw on stock internals on gen2 is a walk
At 600+kw both camps spend about the same
    So for us street guy’s
    “Run what ya brung “
    Blake proves the theory
“Do the best you can with what you have”

You're aware prodrive changed many parts from the standard gen 1's right? Theres a very good reason why they didn't change anything about the internals in its 6 year production run.
You also dont see the guys at premcar changing out any of the internals for newer gen parts, no point. And they know it since they built the things in the first place, 483rwkw and it only needed an upgraded power steering pump for the higher revs.

      That sounds about right Doug
463 rwkw on a Miami is still safe go north of 500 rwkw not so safe yet a gen 2 at 500 rwkw has 11:1
Plenty of gen 2’s live at 600 rwkw
      Stock bottom end
A hand full of Miami’s could but for how long?
      Miami is good
      Coyote gen 2 is great

Honestly tho, you're underestimating the changes the legendary prodrive made to the gen 1 for the miami, along with the simple fact it has the tiny 1.9
How financially deep are you into your 380rwkw na build if you dont mind me asking?

V8s will always sound better, barra owners are a special bunch frothing over something that other car manufacturers accomplished 20 years before the barra turbo.

No not the new Barra, you can't pick them up for a few hundred dollars slap a turbo on it and run 10's

You're right, but if you do that to a Coyote you don't just runs 10's either. They are both awesome and i'm glad we have the option of either.

While I'll admit low 11's aren't exactly groundbreaking in 2021.. There aren't alot of cars from 2010 that will go 11.3@122+ on just a tyre and a tune. Especially not for the money the owner paid for this one.
