Stair modification on the 8’x24’ Prototype with Randy, Josh & Daniel
Suggestion: Give the bottom two steps the ability to slide under the two steps above them, creating a wider traffic pattern.
That and making the house 8 1/2 feet wide would also give more room throughout the whole house.
Love the on hand solutions on video, Randy is what we call an on the hands employer...doesn't just tell but does as well
@@susanpratt3290
the width is limited by the permits needed to move it on the road. over 8 wide = permits.
LOL, I said the same thing before I saw your comment.
Oh! I just saw this after I made my comment! This works!
Retractable 2 bottom steps would be a game changer !🎉
That’s what I was thinking too.Or flip up bottom two stairs. When not using them.More space then
@@nelliehagen5267like a Murphy bed with shelves n decor on the back but the previous comment to use the step as seating is what I would want
Why not just put a decorative post were the stairs meet. It would avoid that mess and you would have the structure you are looking for.
Coat hanger
How about using piano hinges to the stairs for storage? Right now, it’s wasted space.
Yes, that's just what I came to say - either flip-up treads or open the kitchen side with a row of Randy racks to pull out! Shoes, laundry supplies, pantry storage...maybe leave just the first step for a shoe bin.
Margo, it could be just another option if someone doesn't need or want them.
I am glad the water heater is under the stars in the corner. But I would do a storage over the hitch. Then you can put storage on the Living room side.
That's an easy addition for a homeowner.
@@susanbeals7597 they may not have the tools and need to hire a handyman to do that.
Why is the loft over the bathroom and kitchen? Would avoid all this if it was over the living room
Randy Jones is the only CEO in America who rolls up his sleeves, and joins his manufacturing crew on the assembly line on a regular basis. 😊
I agree! He's the Chief Employee Officer.
Great Design! This could become your flagship product. Could you do it w/stairs, bay or picture window & mini-split for $40k everyday pricing?
Looked like Randy's sleeves were not rolled down.
@@LanceCowan-l3lWelcome bitter troll. 😂🤣😂🤣
I just love this company if i was closer id apply! ❤
Randy comes in there like a wrecking ball!lol
Love this, you could put the door in front of the stairs, you would have more kitchen space to maybe make a panty, some type of storage, or another kitchen cabinet. Just a thought
I began watching. Stopped and texted daughter to tell her husband about this. She texted back and said he just ordered with stairs, bay window and mini split. Made me happy. 😊.
I have also referred you to a local economic development association for factory space and possibly land development.
This is terrific!!! The stairs are really nicely built with some wood taken out. I like how your team communicates and works together 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
The stairs look great.Easy to miniver. They’d be a great storage space if they made the side of staircase with pullout drawers.Maybe make the stair tread’s lift open for storage.Looking good guy’s.
Extending the treads on the back side of the stairs results in shelves for the kitchen. It'd be a good use of the space. ❤🐕🌞🏡
Good idea🎉
There's an exhaust Hood going there
If you make the first 2 steps storage steps and let them slide under into the other steps you could increase the floor space
Randy is the Chief Employee Officer: CEO of the century. 💫✨ 👋
So good to watch Randy at work who knows what he’s doing that’s why I bought shares I’ve watched him for three years and he has an incredible worth ethic!
Randy is hands on in his business. It’s refreshing to see a ‘boss’ so in touch with the employees.such a win win for the company.
Wondering how Randy n Amanda manage your time, its so unreal, doing so many things...its not human..love your homes, greetings from Singapore ❤🎉
Why can’t you have bottom step tops open up for storage?
Or a door on the side for storage under.
Homeowner can add a piano hinge to each lower tread. It's an easy after build modification and keeps the price down.
I'd put a support beam on the stairs under the loft transfering the weight to the cabinet and floor? Love the square angle under the stairs to fit range hood. The stairs make the division between living & kitchen beautifully! ❣️
Its pretty but also would work just against the wall, near the window, in a straight line too
Since the home is so narrow inside, these stairs allow room for a sofa under the window and a 12'x 7'6" living space. If you ran the steps straight up against the wall, your living space is reduced to 14'x 5'6", too narrow for a standard sofa or loveseat. You could install fold-up stairs, but then you'd lose 1 of the 3 windows.
Y’all blow me away !! The generosity you show, again and again keeps me excited. This is a winner !! I have 2 potential buyers for my house, but no sale yet. I’m till optimistic…. I’m sure I’ll get my perfect ITH tiny home, when it’s meant to be.❤️Thanks a bunch 💐Randy and Amanda. You 2 are 🪨💫💫
It would be ideal if bottom two stairs could retract toward water heater. I can see people tripping on those bottom two stairs
You could add a handrail and support post on the kitchen side of the bottom string of stairs. Then no one would trip over.
I'm wondering why the panels for the dormer area can't be ordered two feet (or so) longer to save the hassle, time, and labor of constructing and joining the top portion of the dormer. And you wouldn't have the unsightly seam and screws on what is supposed to be a fastener-free, smooth exterior.
I can’t forget a *shout out* to the talented ITH Crew- builders, sales team, office workers, etc… 🔈Y’all are amazing !👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 I can’t wait to see the house finished. I love how the stairs create a little separation between kitchen, and living area, but it still is an open floor plan. It’s looking like this just may be my favorite design !
❤ this new model. Those stairs should be drawers & slide under other 2 stairs. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
stairs/loft really make this model spectacular, love it!!!
Can the bottom 2 stairs be movable? This way they can be brought around to the side to use for a seat or table and free up space for the whole day. ?
I don't want to sound snippy, but Amanda you have to remember you have the microphone and Randy was talking across the room without one, small noises and comments were over what Randy was saying and it was difficult to hear him. However, this was probably my favorite ITH video as we watched the process you all go through to create your builds and I look forward to seeing the final product.
Love the instant change to the stairs!!! Love the stairs! Good job, Randy!
Looking really nice and the perfect length. But I’m a senior and I would be tripping over those last couple steps. Would you have an option to have them against the wall or the last two steps on a locking slide? Thank you for being open suggestions. 😊
Love the storage, stair idea and the modifications to add the stove hood. I would also keep the wood wall so that a pantry cabinet maybe just 4 to 6 inch deep could be added there
If you make them so you can stand in the loft along side the bed it would be better....Us old people dont want to crawl on our knees...you also need kick draws in the kitchen and storage in the steps, storage is key ....I would pay $1,000 more just for more storage...I don't like the cutout in the staircase you could of put shelfs there....Randy needs to think like a woman because 80% or more that buy the homes are women .....Randy doesn't like stuff but women do ...And I don't understand why he doesn't move the door on the other side of the stairs so a nice pantry and maybe a closet can go across from the sink...you want to sell more homes you should make them more sufficient ...
Wow that would allow a bigger frig too! Plus great pantry space with simple move of exterior door down!
Even with no cabinets added for Randy’s cost it would increase availability for home owners to still customize even with countertops if we didn’t want full closet pantries!
Great idea 💡
I also loved Randy’s homes he built that lowered the floor space on one side of bed in loft! Just that small 1 foot wide space to walk and not to crawl into bed is fantastic ❣️🥰
I also Love ITH listens to customers and is constantly being innovative!!!
Thx Randy and Amanda and team 🎉
There needs to be a little railing from the bottom step up to platform so people don't trip on very bottom step when walking thru .
Get ready you're going to have a lot of orders for this wether it's a special or not. Some what close to what I was trying to imagine and what I wanted. God I sure hope I can still get there that has been my dream for 3 or 4 years now and I can hardly sit here and watch it all happen and can't do anything about it yet. Gigantic hit congratulations.
love this new Renditions and love the staircase BUT you need a window in that living room !!!Toooo dark !
It comes with 3 big windows in the living space, a window in the front door, in the bathroom and in the kitchen, and 2 in the sleeping loft.
Make the stairs to be able to be pushed in and locked. It will provide more space.
The stairs look great and with the tiny tweaks the finished sample home will be a real winner. The stair set up doesn't detract from the space , instead it creates a kitchen space that is distinct. The beauty is that the visual space of the home is still fully open. Randy has created another winner. ( just wish I had the $$ ) All the best, Hal
Honestly, not a fan of the stair setup. Why not turn them so it's a straight shot up to the loft, it would open the floor area then you could still have easy access to the water heater from the front of the steps. I do like that you opened up the counter area.
Outstanding stairs, Josh and Daniel❣️ Easy to walk up, line of sight open to the big "bay window", strong, sturdy, plenty of room next to the door to walk past. Great work! I could add a piano hinge to the tread of the bottom 2 steps and keep some shoes & boots inside! There's still enough room on the front door side of the refrigerator surround to put a spice rack, or hang pots & pans. I love that there will be a longer countertop in the kitchen, too!
Love the staircase, Josh and Daniel great job. That is truly incredible for $25k, it really is a deal! If I hadn’t already purchased the Cottage I’d snap this bad boy up in a heart beat!! 💕
Randy, I really liked the way it was. I imagined metal work, for decor, hanging up there. Josh and Daniel, good job!
No! Don’t raise the rise in the steps! The walk isn’t so bad. Offers privacy. Or just cut whatever. But leave the stairs as is.
I love the overall design. I would like some kind of cover over the sink. There's no counter space to do any prep work otherwise.
The countertop extends under the stairs... a total of 6'6" long, and they usually do include the cut out for the sink. 😊
I love this so much!!!
ooo Pullout counter under stairs for L shaped cooking only when cooking, tankless over toilet and washer/dryer opening to living room with pullout/folding dryer/folding shelves. Post in corner would be both decorative and supportive.
Eliminate bottom step rather than upper to gain the floorspace. (and have an engineer help Randy with supports.) How are steps attached to panels?
A : There is a stringer along the panel wall... Screwed right into panels. Steps attach to the stringer
Love it. Wish I had my land already. Hey guys would it be okay to make that bottom part of the stairs slide underneath the other stairs (up against the water heater) when not in use?
The suggestion to have the last two steps slide under the two steps above them is a great idea! I would also suggest having those slide in steps be able to be storage steps, as well. Also, I would move the door over to where the existing window is. (where your ladder was leaning)That way it would give a great space (where the existing door) is to put a fold down table, fold down counter space, a place/wall to hang your pots and pans or a wall to put shelves for small appliances. Also, taking away the short wall that you reconfigured, now doesn’t allow any space to hang a shelf or a cabinet for more kitchen items. The guys think what they can put in the living room, the ladies think what they can do in their kitchen! 😊 A few modifications and some folks are going to have themselves a beautiful home!
Ps … wow, what great employees you have! I would have been beside myself after doing all that meticulous, beautiful work and watching the boss come in and mangle it! Ha!
I would just put a simple spiral staircase in. Done! Save space too!
Spiral staircases are hell-a-dangerous..... My aunt and uncle had one.... So many accidents by them, their kids and guests. Regular stairs and regular height risers, with handrail.... Always a good idea
@@leslie6189 it depends on the circumstances, especially if you are by yourself.
Love this tiny home. Btw I liked the enclosed wall on the stairs. It gives you an Entry.
I like the wall by the stairs as is.
That worked out very well ! I LOVE YOU ALL @ I.T.H. !!!!!!
There’s a madman with a sawsall running rampant on your factory floor! LOL
Hooray!! I love the stairs!!
Randy, please build a community in the beautiful North Carolina! We would love having you here! You are a inspiration! Come see our Piedmont area? Please come!!
Love the stair placement! ❤
Can you put any storage under the stairs if you’re going to do the tankless water heater? Drawers or doors?
How much weight will the loft hold? What about stair rail? I'd worry about tripping and falling off the side of the stairs.
Homeowner can add a stair rail and support post after they get their home. He's trying to keep the price of the stairs low.
Previous models, Loft incredibly strong.... A whole crew of full grown men in Loft to demo strength. It has an L bracket flashing on 3 sides. The only support needed is that corner where the stairs are, because they cut into the Loft to put in the stairs
Nice setup I love what you've done. It could be great to add storage under the steps.
Yep!! Steps open,! Just right!!❤
Question: Do you ever make storage steps? Those lower steps look perfect for storage.
I am so glad you filmed Randy . He is awesome on the fly. America needed to see how he thinks. I love you guys. You are definitely what we've have been needing. Now if the bureaucrats could just get it.
Great job! More bang for your buck!!
Wow! So fun to watch the proto types unfold!
Yes!!!! AMANDA... thank you for filming this unfolding.... The process is fascinating, engaging, and builds so much loyalty... It's a team effort
Love the stairs! I have a suggestion: put a drawer in on the side of the stair landing, above the HWH, facing livingroom. Great spot for extra storage
Thank you Amanda and Randy for this awesome ITH Behind every idea - to - customers have the green light to buy a beautiful ITH House, that they turn into their ITH HOME!!! Really liked everyone being able to give their ideas, and they all looked like a bunch of brothers with Randy being the oldest and I could see you all over at your "Papas and Mamas", and your building something for them! What an awesome FAMILY you all are!!!!
Love the length of the loft but the height looks very low. Once you put a mattress in it appears that you’d have a difficult time getting into it, let alone sitting up or the dreaded task of changing the sheets. 😖
They are limited to 13'6" total height from the ground to the highest point of the roof, by federal DOT rules.
@@susanbeals7597Understood, but is this house that tall?
@@Stacey721 - Yes, it's almost 3 feet from the ground to the inside floor, then 6'8" to the sleeping loft floor, which only leaves 43" of loft headroom. Just use a 10" thick (or less) mattress.
@@susanbeals7597still a great second space for when the Grandchildren visit or for short people like me 60” and when you are horizontal it all equals out lolo
Round off the tread (s) on the bottom stair corners in order to not smash into it with your shins.
AMANDA.... PHENOMENALLY GREAT IDEA.... to round those corners to save shins...
Would love to see an update
video on the design progress, please
Apprciate you Randy and ITH! I enjoy seeing your brain processing. You and the team thinking how to make things more effective and efficient for a resident.
I'm so seeing that this size is all I need. Make a desk area from the loft edge. Legs could hang down as you work. Just a thought for a office area for some.
YES Amanda about open space living.
Amanda, glad to see you didn't edited anything I personally like to see a carpenter at work, thanks for showing everything.
Yes, exactly, glad it's not edited out... Love seeing the real process play out... More satisfying than watching the end game home stretch. The play by play is far more engaging
Love seeing the progress!! Can't wait to see it all decorated :)!
Randy smash! Josh fix!!!!
Thanks for finally getting to the stairs. Been awaiting this mod since I ordered my 8x24 in November. ❤🎉
Under the steps is a great space for Shelves. You could leave that back plate in place to attach the end of the shelves to.
Amanda , you need to do a walk through of Randy's new home to see how it is decorated.
Love to see storage in the stairs
I love the open space
I think I would put a tankless water heater in and possibly move the bottom step well back towards the wall instead of having the water tank underneath. It gives more floor space for walking in.
the steps should fold under each other accordion style to make the usable area larger during the day.
I’m with everyone and bottom two steps pushed under
I would prefer a banister on the lower stairs, too.
Amanda, what's Seth waiting for? This is a great house👍👍
Randy and Amanda,
I really like this new home you're building but have a couple of suggestions for the stairs.
Because they protrude into the room have you thought about nesting the bottom steps under steps 3 and 4? The bottom two could be on rollers.
Also, is each step built as a box for storage? It would really help with storage if they were built in that manner.
Thanks for your videos.😊
I’ll let him know 😊
❤❤❤❤❤ the stairs! I can’t wait to get mine on Buffalo Creek!!
I saw a tiny years ago where the back side of the stairs was open to the kitchen and they made shelves attached to each one. Very clever and would work here.
I saw that too... Kitchen cups and plates were on shelves at back of steps... It was a really nice design
Good morning from Syracuse NY Randy and Amanda and everyone else
Greetings Earl, hope you are well :)
I'ra so fun watching creative minds at work..
Great change😊
So the house comes with a double dormer loft, but the steps are optional? That's crazy! How much extra for the steps??
Yes, optional
Base models are ladder access for Loft.
I so wish I could get the money for this. I would have my name on that list so fast!!!!
Me too!!!!
I like it. I can imagine my dog's favorite place is the landing above the first risers...and those bottom steps will be a favorite people seat too. I think I'd like a half round newel post maybe, and I'd like to put my table and chairs by that window in front of the water heater.
This is a beautiful comfortable home!
I would get a tankless water heater, keep the open space left by the big water heater, and add shelves for my books.
The stairs are nice. I do agree with some that sliding the lower steps inside the staircase would give more traffic area. That notch made on the stringer though, I feel is a week spot, and also an eye sore (at this point. I could be wrong if they trim it all out, but I still worry about strength)
The addition of the stairs, bay window, (and the minis split thrown in?) is quite the bonus! I mean that's a total of $30,000 for the Tiny home, and you get a lot for that extra $5,000.
Prototyping your work is a great way to brainstorm something new. It's hands on, an very practical. More of this kind of added features will eventuall create a very usable space and functionality that doesn't come in a tiny home. Can't wait to see the final results!
I don't like that notch either. Possible weak spot and also aesthetically unappealing.
Enjoyed watching you all brainstorm.
Randy: It seems as though you have found a lower price for your 2.0 steel panels. I assume that is what is driving this new $25k price. Will you be reducing the prices on all of your other ESP 2.0 homes? I may not be able to take advantage of this sale but I would like to see some reductions with your other ESP 2.0 homes for all of those who cannot afford them right now!
I love the designs you put out there! It seems like your team is always coming up with new and better ideas! Keep up the great work!
I love this design with the stairs and have a tankless water heater to have storage under the stairs. Great job guys.
Question: Can handrails be added? 👍🐕
It is coming along! Good idea opening the steps over the counter. Now how bout a pole or handles for going up steps for owner security?
OMG! RANDY, YOU DID IT! THIS IS IT! WITH THE BUMPED OUT WINDOW! AND OFF-GRID! THANK YOU!!
Amazing deal! It is BEAUTIFUL! So happy I bought stock in this company!
so amazing!
You need to put a porch post on corner to support that corner and May hold a railing later😊
Love this!
At your price point you blow the competition out of the water.
