3.6 has some changes in the transformation menu. Extrapolate is still there. The from/to is not configuring correctly at 2:33 EDIT. Okay. Played some more. If you're rolling on the Y axis like the video. The X axis will need to rotate the wheel. So. Check Extrapolate below the target. THEN, Map From > Location > Y Min 0. Y Max: .2 (My setting). Then, Map to > Rotation > XYZ Euler > X Source Axis > Y (important) > X Min 0 deg. X Max -360 deg. (1 wheel rotation forward is negative). In simple terms the transformation is converting the Y axis location to an X axis rotation. There's a bunch of stuff going on as far as settings to mess with but the above worked for me and my wheel is rolling rather quickly. :D
It incredibly does not* work, with settings 100% copied from your helpful comment and this video. Appreciate people like you though. *EDIT: Sorry it does work lol. Just had to apply the rotation of my target object, and also tweak the why max settings a bunch.
Great! But now I want to have my wheel be able to spin when it’s moving not just on one axis. Like how can I make it so that it always spins as long as it’s moving xy?
Constraints! I am using 2.9x and got good enough. There is an "Influence" adjustment that seems like a "fine tuner" for the spin. Good tut tho. Better than bones I think.
I wonder if this is using local or global location and rotation, gonna try this out later but I feel it might stop working if i use this and have the car turn
Will it be also accurate if we apply this on the tyre rotating around a point ,,,like as we have in the motion of turn of the robot having two tyres as legs
I redid the motion capture last night for the body, and I just have to do the face. It is coming along as I have started on it again. I think that I need to take a day off work and just go at it.

Sir..while im using the khaos addon... When i click the directional burst they are showing some kind of error.. and they are not showin the empty around that plane too.. can u please tell me a solution to fix that
I want to put this model in unity, but the problem is that from that square where the wheel is added (which makes the wheel have contact with the ground), in unity it is actually seen as a square, as a wheel cubed, squared (what is he). In Blender there is the border but in unity the square appears and I don't see the wheel, then let me know if the animation and the running of the wheel are kept in unity as well because I would need it. I also have two wheel models that I made work in Blender, but I have a problem when I import them in unity.
What if I have a parent of a few objects that I want to rotate? I have a bottle with a cap and a label constrained to an empty cube. I tried to set this cube as a child of another so I could apply the transformation constraint, but it doesn't rotate it like a car wheel (need it for an animation). Any suggestions? Thank you in advance
HELLO? IS THIS STILL SUPPORTED? I have a question. So I have this robot with a single wheel as LEGS? I rigged it up and a special bone rotates the entire wheel. I have the root bone and this wheel constrained together. The root moves in Y and the wheel bone rotates in X. This works fine, but ONLY if I move in Y with the root. Lets say I want to rotate the root 45 degrees and then move "forward" in that direction, then the rotations of the wheel are fked, because it ONLY takes the Y and the root barely moves in Y. How do I fix this? anyone any ideas? I tried Pose space, but it did not seem to help at all..
@@Markom3D I kinda did something and I think it works. I basically added another bone that is parented to the root, but is like the knee control bones in human IK chains for the legs. That bone is now with the wheel in transform constraints. So the wheel rotates always on the X axis if that bone moves forward. I realigned the bone to have Z be the local for FORWARD. I also learned a new trick lol. If you grab or rotate a bone and then press X y or Z, then you get the GLOBAL axis. But if you press them twice, you get the local axis. So now I can just grab and press Z twice and it moves outwards and its easy to keyframe that. Using this I can freely rotate the model and then still have the bone move forward. It is not the best method I think though, so if you have a better one do let me know haha
The same thing happens to me, without the Follow Path it works correctly regardless of the rotation in Z, but if I put the Follow Path it only works correctly if the tire moves in the global coordinate +Y. Your comment is 4 months old, have you managed to solve it?
I'm wondering now how drivers relate to constraints. I would have thought to use a driver, but the constraint looks like a visual means to write the equation to control a driver. My dad as a programmer told me, "KISS: keep it simple stupid." Einstein said, "Keep it as simple as possible." I say, "Fml, Blender is deep, and the cat got away, I have to catch him again." Sometimes not knowing what you don't know you don't know...but knowing you don't know a lot, still doesn't help you feel the surprise as you fill in ignorance... I persist, hoping one day, I reach critical ignorance, and can do what I need to do without research or surprises.
I have absolutely no need for the information gained from this video, but it was severely hard not to enjoy it anyway. Seems like you enjoy making these videos; keep at it. ;)
Do you prefer to use Constraints or Bones?
I've learnt really that rigging is a combination of bones and constraints, and bone constraints, and pulling your hair and cursing at the world.
All the time. Doing IK stuff, ARGH
I use constraints maily if its non organic ,,but will chise the easy one
Or drivers...?
