Why some highways are 55 is beyond me. Just seems like an excuse to generate revenue.
It's up to the town or city what speed limit would help reduce accidents. Which is up to the people that live in that town/city since they pay the taxes in that area.

Maybe 1 out of every 30 cars you see are doing like 80-90, but those are just the idiots who weave in and out of traffic thinking going that fast is going to get them anywhere in rush hour traffic. Im in chicago and just about all the highways are 55 and very few are 60. Once you get into farm land outside the burbs is when the speed limits hit like 65 or 70. And I think I have heard it is 55 because it is most fuel efficient. But that is something I heard not a fact

Where I live, the speed limit is 90Km/h on the highway, roughly 55mph. Almost everyone drives between 100-110Km/h, roughly 60-70mph. Never seen anyone pulled over. Thank god I live in Canada, we have semi-reasonable cops

It's just roadside manner, per-say. Lets the officer and person being subjected to the search be a little more loose while still being able to disclose if you have anything on you.

it's probably something that they have to ask. when i was 12 i was in my friends neighbors yard and they called the cops on us for trespassing and they patted us down and asked if we had guns/bombs/etc. don't know how a 12 year old kid in the midwest usa would get a bomb rofl.
They ask that to gauge your reaction. It's a semi-efficient way to see if you are holding any weapons.
I went through the police academy and they actually ask that to throw you off your train of thought. It's a surprise question and when you get asked it, your thought of anything beforehand changes to. "what? why the hell would I carry a bomb."

FYI Michigan cannot take an out of state license in lieu of bail. Your license is not owned by you, its owned by your state. Michigan has no authority over out of state licenses.
Unfortunately legal or not they will just not hand it too you. What you have to do is ask them to call the main barracks of the state police for the state you reside in.
When I went through this (I'm from NJ) the NJ state police ripped the Michigan police a new asshole, right on the speaker phone in front of me. It was hilarious.

He was using laser, not radar. That's why Rob wasn't alerted until it was already too late.
It was going off plenty early, before the clip even starts, rob was just ignoring it because laser band is often false positive and rob said he was getting false positives all over that day.

I live in Miami fl. On one of our highways the speed limit is 55. Everybody drives 70-80. Another highway the speed limit is 70 I usually drive 90+ never been pulled over.
In New Jersey/New York it's acceptable to do 80-85 on the parkway which has a speed limit of 65... Some cops will let you get away with 90 before they pull you over
Most cops will say "9 you're fine, 10 you're mine." Set cruise at 64 in a 55 all day long. 5 mph isn't going to get you there any faster unless you're driving hundreds of miles, and then you greatly increase your chance of finding a speed trap anyway.
hell, in the 70 mph zones, youll get your doors blown off. people do 85 on the highway. 55 mph zones, youll get pulled over for doing over 10 mph over the speed limit. I usually stick to 8 over and never get fucked with.

In Chicago on the Interstates the speed limit is 55. You can pass cops going 75-80 if traffic flow allows for it.

That was my thought... In GA everybody speeds but I've gotten a ticket for 66 is a 55 before... They allow 10 mph over the speed limit so technically they can give you a ticket for 11 mph over and they DO. I drive down 75 south because now I live in Jacksonville but drive to Atlanta all the time for work... I set the cruise at 80 in the 70 mph zones and pass most people.

normally if you are doing a little over and are in control of your veichle you won't get pulled over. It depends on the area on how much over the speed limit you are allowed.

the ticket is your temporary licence, they have all that in the system and will know when they run your name. You have to keep your copy of the ticket until you get your licence back.

I mean the whole confiscating your license thing is absurd, but if you're doing anything more than 4 over in a sticker covered car as part of a rally expected to get ticketed if a cop see's you. really...14 over and you think thats a safe zone for no ticket? In most states 7-8 over is the safe bet for no ticket, like 72 in a 65. Figured being a big cross country driver youd know that. Some how you guys are always doing a good 15-20 over. It amazes me you dont get towed in any of these vids. I still enjoy this series of videos.
I was thinking the same thing. 10+ will get you noticed just about anywhere. Especially if you are the only car on the road and happen to have it covered in stickers. Haha
