That was a dumb response from her, since the topic was racism in general, not BLM. As a WOC herself, she should also be educating her man, too. And it's not like there haven't been instances of racism toward the Asian community from black people. They've even talked about it on their show in the past. So it's not as if the black community can't learn from an Asian woman about what the Asian community experiences.
@@volcrazy89 u can learn from anybody tbh. Even white ppl. The thing is that Asians have pretty much always been regarded as the model minorities by white ppl. Even with America's racist history, theyre pretty much really well woven into the fabric of america. Ie, Asian women are highly accepted as spouses for white men in America bc its not really looked down upon to be or marry an asian. Maybe now, bc of covid, but before then....not really? Also, they make the most money in our country, more than even white ppl on average. I mean, Asian women's biggest struggles in america are being seen as too docile and too smart and too family oriented/too unable to divest from family interests and not being caucasian/pale enough. So i can understand why jeannie would say she feels its her place to listen.

@@rawandosari851 I understand that may be the intention, but the idea that any person of color's life and culture arent crafted by that "color" is unrealistic. When you love who we are and what makes us awesome, refusing to acknowledge or "see" the color that contributed to making us that way is like turning a blind eye to a huge part of who we are. Typically the people we encounter who "don't see color" fail to understand what bothers us, how things hurt, why we make certain moves/choices, our beliefs and more

It might very well be the perfect answer but the reality is what Loni and Garcelle are saying. They are not justifying it but what they are saying is actually what is happening. Granted, the hope is that they make up their minds and do the right thing but that always isn't the case.
It’s the perfect answer for BLM and social justice issues and injustices towards Black men and women. However when it comes to relationships and them speaking on race. The other minority should also talk about their experiences. They should both speak on their experiences.
I feel like her parents as immigrants had their own struggles and listening isn't a one way street. It seems like Jay really respects her culture too, but a partner needs to respect the struggles of Asian immigrants in the United States as well. Vietnamese didn't come into this country with PHDs, some came by boat and worked hard labor to achieve the American dream.

I've never told a Jewish person to "get over" the Holocaust or a person of Latin/Spanish descent how to feel about immigration or deportation and being separated from their children. You're still Black when you wake up in the morning and look in the mirror, you still have BLACK in your DNA, etc... That's like saying a white person doesn't love other White people because they're in a interracial relationship.

Yes, Jeannie is also a minority but I think she realizes that right now with the heavy movement of Black Lives Matter that it’s just a moment for her to listen and support him through this moment in time. I highly doubt that they don’t have discussions about both of their experiences and cultures.

Jay Zeus your point is ridiculous. If you look at what I said, I pointed out that it’s unlikely that the two of them don’t talk about each other’s culture. In fact, he planned on going to Jeannie’s home country before the pandemic. She described that on the real and her RUclips show. In the beginning of the pandemic there was increased hate towards the Asian community. It would only make sense that he supported her through that. You completely missed my point and I think you should visit and think about your own views of minorities. It’s very narrow minded and bias to assume Black people don’t know about the stories/history of other minorities. There’s a lot wrong with what you said about the movement for the Black community and that’s why it’s important to listen, learn, and support. BTW, the civil rights movement (MLK) and the Black Lives Matter movement may have the same goals and visions but they are two very separate movements.

I think they meant not everyone have the money to just pick up and leave. Like women leave their marriage mentally first before they leave physically. This is the main reason ( along with being physically challenged) why I 100%choose to stay single because if you choose to date interacially because the constant derogatory remarks and public hate isn't worth it.
I find it interesting that all four hosts have been or are currently in interracial relationships. Five if you count Tamera. That's a lot higher than the national average of about 3 percent.
I wonder if the statistics are higher pertaining to Black women specifically? Just because Tamera, Garcelle and Loni are all Black women (60% of the hosts) so I wonder if that might account for the increased representation?

Loni is right! It's easy to judge when you're younger, in love and don't have kids. Once you get responsibilities, the view will change. There are women who stay in marriages for the sake of the kids because they don't make enough money to take care of all their kids, nor do they have a support system. They're enjoying themselves in the process. It's not "right" and it's reality.

Totally agree, I don't agree with cheating but I can see how things can happen especially when you're relationship that lacks certain important things. You're not going to be willing to walk away from your marriage just because your spouse lacks good communication or isn't romantic. He can still be a good man who provides and who is understanding and supportive. It's alot of age and maturity. That's why the divorce rate is so high because there is no perfect person and people start leaving relationships because you just don't squeeze the toothpaste from the bottom.
I think we should both listen to each other.

Loni always tries to be devil’s advocate (in a good way). She always tries to see why someone did it, and doesn’t immediately look down on them. Jeannie and Adrienne often don’t go in the mind set, but Garcelle does what Loni does, and it makes the show so much more interesting. (If tam was still on, it’d be better)

In regards to race, I think a lot of it has to due with a lack of respect, interest, and understanding of everyone’s culture. I remember reading something that said “In the age of knowledge, ignorance is a choice,” and honestly it’s true.

Jeannie I understand you want to listen and it’s SO important to LISTEN to the black experience. However it’s important for you to talk about your experience and the Asian experience as well. As a Mexican I would want my significant other to understand MY experience. Listening to what is going on right now (or atleast what has been showed to us finally) BLM and social justice issues is important. Yes we should 🤐 and 👂. But let’s not disregard our experiences when it comes to having conversations w our significant others about race.

We all know that, but for one race is a social construct so it’s not going to make complete sense anyway. And two, what should she consider herself if not Latina? Biracial ? @@millieb710 Honestly, she comes from an interracial background given her DNA makeup, as a lot of Latinx people do. She herself probably doesn't think of it that way because it's from generations back, in her case. I mean yes I guess her relationship is technically interracial just as Tamera, who is biracial, was, but Adrienne still frames 'Latina' as a race instead of an ethnicity just as a lot of Latinx people do. She was shocked that she was 60% white in her DNA results on the show years ago, when Tamar was still a host. And fully or almost fully white Latinx people are notorious for calling their relationships with white non-Latinx people "interracial" because a lot of Latinx people think being Latin automatically makes them non-white (especially if you're in the US), which is inaccurate and honestly completely ignorant, since around 40% of Latinx people are white and it's the biggest subgroup in the Latin community. In the end, it's 'intercultural' more than anything, and it's no different than a German person being in a relationship with an Irish person. That doesn't really apply to this particular instance much, but it speaks to the bigger issue of so much misinformation being out there regarding race vs. ethnicity, particularly when it comes to the Latin community. Adrienne is a Latina host on a show full of WOC. She needs to get educated on this topic when she has this platform.
I think this is a very interesting discussion because atleast for me I would think people in interracial relationships would make sure to turn a blind eye to such a serious issue especially if there is situations where maybe even someone in their own families aren’t ok with them dating outside of their race... hell ! Tam last season said her dads family wasn’t very kind and ended up and shut them out just cuz he was with their mom who was black ! But as far as like... actually having to deal with SOCIETY and strangers looking at you and being mean and nasty towards you just based off the color of your skin... that very important conversation needs to be talked about especially when we have such powerful and controversial things goin on in our country with BLM & Police Brutality whether u witness or are a victim of it... it’s a convo that needs to happen especially if you visualize being with this person forever
Why can’t people just communicate with each other, instead of letting whatever it is that bothering them, to get to a point where you end up having affair and creating massive headache in your relationships. If you don’t talk or communicate with your partner, why be in a relationship, cause a relationship needs, love, understanding and communication. And without communication that relationship is screwed from the very start.

Jeannie and Addrinne are very sensitive about this subject but i agree with them. We don't excuse men that cheat so i'm not going to coddle women either. I don't care if you and your spouse have open relationships if BOTH people are aware that your business, but we need to stop making excuses for cheating with sob stories. This is a cool topic, but what I did like about having Amanda is that she spoke for those of us that choose to date within our own race exclusively. I feel like we are shamed as being anti or it’s used as a form of hate just because I only date black men while these women are praised and encouraged to date any race. I have no problem with someone else chooses to do with their life as long as it doesn’t directly impact me, but I just appreciate discussions where it’s understood that we also can love who we love. It’s part of the reason why I made the personal choice early on to be with a black man and have black children because I know that there is a more intimate understanding and relationship between us...not to mention they are just the sexiest thing to walk the earth in my eyes 😍. I truly do love the topic though, given all of the ladies are or have been in interracial relationships.

Some women don't have the financial resources to leave their husbands...especially during a pandemic! Doesn't mean it's okay to cheat, but it's easy for rich women like Adrienne and Jeannie to say "just leave" when they have the financial means to leave but others don't.
Jeannie left her relationship when her ex husband cheated on her. Not because she’s rich, if she wasn’t rich she would have left too. You don’t need money to leave a relationship. Yea some people feel they can’t leave because they feel they depend on the cheater for financial support. But let me tell you as a poor person, when you have self respect and emotional safety is your priority, you will find shelter from family, friend, or you will find a super cheap solution to moving out.
