- The Sunday Rant is back! Governor Newsom vetoed a bill that would have mandated that autonomous trucks actually have a driver in the truck at all times. The Governor thinks that trucks should drive themselves with no driver on board. Apparently he is saying yes to driverless trucks and less jobs. Tye technology is no where near ready for autonomous trucks. Big trucking money must have gotten in the way because this certainly has nothing to do with safety.

If the Autonomous trucks learn how to block the fuel island they will fit in perfectly.
A LOT of the trucks I see on a daily basis are ALREADY being driven like NOBODY is in the driver’s seat!!!!!!

Insurance and cargo theft are gonna destroy these companies. All these private investors that know nothing about trucking are gonna get a serious reality check. I was driving a 2015 cascadia a few years ago through Biloxi at about 73 mph. It had that on gaurd crap. It picked up a gap in the concrete and slammed the breaks twice. I went from 73-35mph in the middle of I-10. Then safety is calling me like it’s my fault. That crap picked up the bottom of bridges, signs in curves and all types of obstructions. Very unsafe technology. Not to mention it always went out when it started raining. People need to stick to what they know and stay in their lane
To any future driver losing their job in the name of "safety" and obscene profits, just remember to keep your bolt cutters.
I like the warning on the passenger side that light letting me know if someone’s next to me but yeah, the adaptive cruise control sucks. Gives me a heart attack at least once a week.
I don't mind the side collision sensor either and the one for the front is fine with me I had no issues with it it helps when it's foggy or raining hard but my truck has the Bendix on it
To all future drivers that might be losing their jobs due to this decision. Remember to keep your bolt cutters.

I hauled the mail for 6 years and I know at least in the mail business there is this thing called, the chain of custody.. It would be difficult to hold a truck responsible for missing registered mail.

Driverless trucks won’t buy showers or roller wieners or anything else at the truck stops. So it ain’t gonna happen
76 followers. I have that many people in my phonebook. I thought california is anti truck anyways. No old tractors unless you buy a newer engine. Def,eld,etc. And they wonder why nobody wants to drive a tractor. In maryland, I have to get an appointment to get past the lobby at motor vehicles.
Those trucks can and will be hacked. Terrorists and thieves are having wet dreams.
By the way, I can say one thing for California, large sections of interstate 10 between the Colorado river and Indio have been completely and totally reconstructed with gorgeous perfect concrete, and that crap asphalt is gone

What I would like to know if a driver is in a self driving truck and that truck fails , who’s responsible ? the driver 🤷♂️ ¿. should the driver be paid more for taking on the extra responsibility ? 🤔

We are many years away from autonomous vehicles, Mark. Airplanes and trains are perfectly capable of operating without a pilot, yet, they do not. And there’s a damn good reason for that. Here I am on a tan headed to Los Angeles, yes I am still working for the Korean mafia, and unless every vehicle on the road is equipped with youWith equipment capable of talking to a central system that monitors all traffic, all road conditions, all signs, coyotes, cars, Road runners Carmel pigeons, snakes, scorpions, and tumbleweeds, it just plain eight gonna happen. The entire infrastructure of United States ground transportation will have to be altered and so equipped
