Il-76MD differs from Il-76 in the following characteristics:
reinforced wing structure;
landing load increased to 48 tons;
take-off weight increased from 170 to 190 tons;
increased maximum fuel amount to 90 tons;
the engines D-30KP-2 installed on the aircraft maintain maximum take-off thrust up to an outside air temperature of 23 degrees Celsius (15 degrees for the first series).
