I got a brz and only because toyota didn't know how to do the valve spring recall and blew those engines or have engines rolling that might blow soon. My car before the brz was a 90 toyota celica so I was faced with a hard decision 😅.
I'm old school so this is the modern equivalent of Camaro/firebird. The same car but different enough to have their own styles. Or in the truck world Chevy/GMC.

Agree on the lego part. I'll probably never sell my FRS and just keep modding it over time. Someday maybe giving it to my son when he's old enough. Probably still be rocking the Raijins and BR Coilovers by then too. Thanks for those guys!
I have a '15 BRZ. I went to both local dealerships, Subaru and Scion, and what an eyeopener. The Scion dealership was one corner of a Chevrolet - Toyota regional dealership chain with a 'Meh' reputation and their salesmen weren't interested in talking to me about the one FR-S. they had: an automatic parked inside the showroom. If I were a teenager or some 20-something I might have understood, but I was in my fifties! On the other hand the local Subaru dealership has a long standing stellar reputation for excellent service and many of my co-workers recommend them. Their salesmen happily let me test drive a car and even though I didn't take the engine over the break-in limit of 4500rpm I could tell that it was what I wanted. My decision was made by the dealership reputation and the fact that the BRZ could be optioned with heated seats, pushbutton start, etc. - better options! I agree, the car needs more power. The problem isn't the 'only 200HP' issue, it's mostly the 'barely 151 ft-lbs' of torque that pretty much disappears between 3000 and 5000 rpm issue! Out of the box, the car barely has enough power off the line to beat it's own shadow - its almost dangerous! You learned that once up to speed you would need to downshift two or three gears to accelerate, which was quite intimidating at first! I strongly suggest any BRZ/FR-S owner spring $500 for the Open Flash Tablet as is does a decent job of filling in the "Torque Dip". I also installed a catted UEL header and a cat-back exhaust. They also fill in the torque deficit and cut down on the need for heroic downshifting! There is no local dyno so I am guessing it might make 220 HP, maybe? The Prius tires don't help at all, they wear like iron and have the same traction. My winter wheel/tire set has more traction. I have Pilot Sport 4s' on Enkei RPF-1s for summer tires and they increase the BRZ's grip by an order of magnitude. I use mine as a daily driver. I switch between an older BMW 3-series (not an M!) and the BRZ. They are comparable in performance but totally different in personality.

Yup, I would feel the same way if I had a pre-2015 one (the year the valve spring issues were fixed). Even then, I'd still rather take it to a Subaru dealership because boxers are all they do.
I think the biggest difference you missed was just interior. When they first came out, from what I saw when I was spec-ing them out, the brz had the cooler interior with little race style toggle switches near the shifter and the digital display for your dual climate control. If you compare the two you need to point out the fact that the frs had a different spring rate front and back than the brz. When the 86 took the frs place they matched the spring rate to the brz, but early models where different
To pick the BRZ just because it's a Subaru is silly because the FR-S is also a Subaru. Every single piece on the FR-S was manufactured, assembled, and has the stamp of Fuji Heavy Industries/Subaru.
Not angry, but bumper covers, headlights dual projectors on brz, tail lights, trunk insulation on brz, suspension, interior options like heated seats and radio set up on the brz. I have the FRS. Any other FRS/BRZ owners chime in! Where's your rattle? :DDDDDD Mine's behind the back seat, passenger side. Really rattles after the MXP exhaust was added on cold starts before the cats warm up and the thing calms down. The subwoofer in the trunk also brings out that rattle. :P One of these days I'll tear that panel out and figure out what's making it happen. It's the same car. I bought one because it was affordable, it was fun, I thought its shape was beautiful, and it has that fun quirk of being a car designed and built by two companies and sold by three. It doesn't really know what it wants to be but it does it very well anyway. It's been a great convo starter at places like gas stations where regular non-car people notice the thing, come up, and start asking questions about the car. My favorite encounter being one dude in his 40s that was SURE it was a humorously rebadged Maserati.

As a brz owner u always gotta correct people when they call ur car a frs ;) i always make sure they know its the same thing just. A different interior and bumper
what a beautiful car
I have the FRS. Any other FRS/BRZ owners chime in! Where's your rattle? :DDDDDD
Mine's behind the back seat, passenger side. Really rattles after the MXP exhaust was added on cold starts before the cats warm up and the thing calms down.
The subwoofer in the trunk also brings out that rattle. :P
One of these days I'll tear that panel out and figure out what's making it happen.
The cup holders in the BRZ/FRS suck mine got stolen :(
Lmao what 😂
lock your car next time lol
@@finnster321 I did lol
Not all BRZ’s have keyless start, I’d know bc I don’t
BRZ premiums come without keyless start and no climate control. limited does. most Ive seen have limited features
Some brz comes with the sti red intake manifold and brembo brakes. Not sure if the frs does.
men drive the brz and women drive the frs 😂
Scion FRS owner, any tips for where to start nodding? I'm thinking about getting a little more engine power and speed. Also I love this car, hugs curves and sharp turns like a champion
Gels’ 86 is coming along niceley👌
exhaust sounds like garb on blue one
There is a camera in your face and your looking at the one to your right lol
Then I realized someone was in the other seat lol
As a brz owner who hates orange, that brz is a little ricey. The frs had some tasteful mods for sure.
Yes babe I’m looking at differences in the same cars
Grrr8 Video!!!
I went with an FRS for a few reasons. The FRS has lower insurance rates and yes it was less used. (FRS wheel specs?)
Great video as always. What wheels are on the FRS? I need some for my Genesis. thanks.
nevermind just saw it in the video.
If only my brz looked that nice and clean! I daily mine and due to the pandemic i had to move into the country side. So much for keeping the blue all shiny. Dang dusty roads! 😭
