- Remedy Entertainment is one of the top names in the video game industry, and a lot of it can be attributed to the developer’s consistency in putting out quality titles for over a decade at this point. Remedy has shown a penchant for creating games that veer from stereotypes both in terms of gameplay and story, and few games carry that “Remedy charm” better than Alan Wake.
A remaster of this fan-favorite title is due to release soon, and comes just in time when rumors of Alan Wake 2 entering production have surfaced. This makes it an opportune time to revisit the classic, and here are 15 things you need to know before grabbing the game.

yes. I played it 17 month's ago . I did a Remedy triathlon. Alan Wake, Quantum Break, and Control. And all Dlc's for Alan Wake and Control also......
They were all Great

Same here. Will be buying a copy again, although I had bought the first one after seeing a loading tip during my play-through of a cracked version saying "If you like the game, please support the developers by buying the game". Made me feel sad after seeing that it never got a sequel.

Truly pumped for this and the "Alan Wake 2" project or whatever it will be called. Dualsense is perfect for a game like this. My PS5 is primed and ready to rock on with the Children of the Elder Gods.

If you love twin peaks or basically stephen king novels, you need to get this one. It's the only one in the gaming scene that pays homage to it. The pacific northwest setting is just iconic.

As someone who has never played Alan Wake but fell in love with Remedy after beating Control and replaying the old Max Paynes, I couldn't be anymore excited to give this a go. The fan base is immense and has given nothing but high praise.

Alan wake is an underrated masterpiece
Alan Wake is the one I’ve always wanted to play but unfortunately being a PlayStation only player it’s the game I’ve never been able to venture in to. I can’t tell you how excited I am to finally get my hands on it so thank you Remedy! Also at £25 it’s an absolute steal 👍
remedy has been putting out quality games for about TWO decades now with max payne being released in 2001.
Never got to play this game back when it came out, just remember hearing about it. So I’m genuinely excited for this 🤷🏻♀️
A friend made me play it after I said I didn’t dig it initially. And I’m so glad I did. It’s become one of my favorite games ever. I’ve played it through multiple times now.
It has a slowish start but ramps up. The collectibles are allot of fun to find too.

Wow, you're in for a treat. I wish I was playing this for the first time, completed like 50 times on my xbox 360, one of the only reasons I bought an xbox! Still pre-ordered, time to re-run again on my Ps4!!

Such a great game. Got 100% when it originally came out on 360. Hope my save file doesn't cross over so i can get stuck into it again. Actually regardless if my save crosses over ill be diving into this one again. Such a great game on all fronts.

There are errors in the video, remedy has been around for about two decades and also the name of Alan's friend is Barry wheeler not Eric Barry, you guys clearly don't know much about the game.

His name is Barry Wheeler, getting things like that wrong are an odd thing to do in an informative video.
And he also mentioned that Barry had the key to the cabin Alan & Alice were staying at, which is also wrong. Stucky was the one who had their key

I played it to death on the PS4 and then got the PS5 version free on PSplus. It’s a brilliant remaster of an already iconic title in my opinion. The lighting effects are superb and the sparks from the Mod boxes that are dotted about look incredibly realistic……Well worth another play through

Classic game ,, we really need to go back to great games like this,,let’s move away from the open world stuff now.

Except Red Dead Redemption 2. That was open world and rocked, but I do like a good linear game with great story and atmosphere.

Remedy kept rolling with a decent amount of what Rockstar gave up on and I really appreciate it.
I managed to buy a sealed copy of the limited edition steelbook with all dlc, notebook and collectors cards and audio cd with the soundtrack for £10 in CEX in Bolton was absolutely blown away with the bargain!!! If you've never played the game.....do it's absolutely brilliant and gripping.

Eric Barry? His name is Barry Wheeler and he's Alan's book agent. He didn't have the key to the lodge... He wasn't even in Bright Falls until episode 2...
What have they done to the hud?
I really hope this means Alan Wake 2 is coming because nr 1 was amazing it literally got me into horror games and honestly there hasn’t been a game like it, it’s very unique and that makes it even better! Just wish I had a PS5 so I could buy it:(

Played it back when it came out on 360. I’m not going to buy it again at launch but I highly recommend anyone who hasn’t played this to do so. It’s a really good game

Missed this one on my 360, so bought this for my current PS4. Man!! I have not been hooked up to a game since Resident Evil 4 on PS2. This game has everything that I crave for in horror games.
I couldn't get into this game when I played it...thinking about giving it another try. Love the horror game genre!

Some reviewers are saying there's nothing new here but never having owned any Xbox consoles it's 100% new to me. I can't wait for my copy to show up.

I've never played this game, but the remaster is free to add to my library this month on Playstation. My work week just ended and I wanted a game to waste this weekend on and I think I've found it 😁

Here are some other things to know -
The remaster has no raytracing, not even HDR, and messed with all the character's faces. It's basically a texture pack for the PC version, sold for 30 dollars.
That's usually how remasters work. They did new faces to match the live action actors that have appeared in the live action segments in this, american nightmare, and control. It's also an improvement for the existing console versions as well as being on consoles that never had the chance to have it before. So there's that aswell.
I never got it back in the day. Definitely will get it now.
I bought the original 360 collectors edition. I have it on Steam as well. I will most definitely be getting this day one.

Control was fantastic as well.
I got the Remastered version on PS5. I can tell you that it looks graphically up to par with PS4 games and controls like a PS3 game. I wish they'd overhaul the controls and add more options because it really needed this and didn't get it. It's a good experience to play through for a newcomer to Remedy games but for those who played the original, I don't think this will be a necessary buy.
I mainly bought it to support the devs in the hope that they can make a sequel. There's really not much in the way of upgrades.

But for people who really looking to buy this game for the first time buy it I truly recommended. I love the dark atmosphere story and fun combat.
Dudes this game is good I personally just played it for the gunplay but the story and levels are actually really good and fun to explore.
There is only one thing you need to know, if you love Twin Peaks and Stephen King, buy this game. It's one of my favorite games, just recently played the 360 version for the i don't know how many times, Guess i have to play it again soon
I was in love with the original on 360 as soon as the opening narration began, and since then it even inspired me to write my own novel about the war between light and darkness, with a front cover of a lighthouse as an homage to the game, I even named the book (which is now a series) ‘Fyrtårn” which in Danish translates to Lighthouse. In the first book I also had a chapter called “Nightmare” (calling back to the hardest difficulty of the game) in which I have the main character run around a dark forest, finding pages and fighting off shadow people, again in an homage to Alan Wake. God I love this game and what it brought to gaming in terms of storytelling.
I loved it! After work for a week I would disappear into this world and loved every min!
I pre ordered for series x I never got the chance to play this game but from what I hear it's awesome I legit can't wait to play this remaster and finally play the game 🙌

It’s a shame they didn’t put in the effort to include ‘Alan Wake’s American Nightmare’ DLC, I remember enjoying that much more than the base-game.
Just got the remaster yesterday on ps store sale for 17$, never played it back in the 360 even tho i had one but didnt get too interested at the time since i was like 12. So far the game is good and scary ngl, im at the part where there are a bunch of cut down tree trunks and some are hanging. This might be the reason i reinstall control and actually finish it 😭

As a fan of the game, I recommend people pick this up if you missed it the first time around.
And maybe we will get the sales up enough that we finally get a real sequel that has an actual ending this time around!

I never had an issue with the product placement crap in the game. It was originally published by Microsoft for the Xbox 360, so having Xbox game cases is no big deal... hell, the Uncharted games, the last of us games and returnal all have PlayStation consoles featured within the game worlds and nobody cried about that.
This game is excellent. If you are on the fence grab a 360 og copy or steam cheap.
Are the controls still janky? I played it for the first time early this year and they had aged terribly. No reviews I have watched have compared them. Are they the same or are they improved?
Bummer that they didn’t include American Nightmare. While not as good as the original Alan Wake game and the expansions, I feel this game is necessary to get something of a proper ending.

While this video, like all gaming bolt videos, it will say nothing new or of importance, I'm definitely buying this game.
I kind of don't understand why they remastered this one.. I think the original is just fine; controls, interface, everything feels already modern, imo the graphics are still gorgeous ( currently replaying it after 10 years and I totally stop to admire the scenery ).. If they had extra time to remaster, they should have remastered Max Payne..
They don't own max payne. And alan wake is part of their connected universe and people will want to play it first before that sequal comes out which given controls 2nd dlc it will.

I got the collectors edition version that came with a booklet, I never gotbto play the dlc because I never had xbox live
This game is now running on the same engine the powered Control. There is no way the Switch is going to be able to handle the engine unless major sacrifices are done. It would be better for the original 2010 version to be released on the console.
Seems more like just a re release. The way he walks / jogs when he's tired should've been Remastered or Remade ❗🎃

Brand placement was a controversy it added more realistic belief in the universe what a weird thing to say
This was a cool game it was the name with little fanfare that made it under the radar
