Practically always on sale and worth the buy in my opinion, especially for those who missed the free giveaway.
Best description of this game: X-Files + Infamous + The Matrix = VERY TRIPPY. Very interesting storyline, I really liked it for the most part! I beat the main game plus the DLCs a few hours ago!
I just got this game off Game Pass and I'm in LOVE with is. I've always wanted a game like this. I can't stop playing it, I find myself doing all of the side missions before I continue on to the main missions. THE PUZZLES MAN, they're so good. The atmosphere feels amazing and the gameplay is some of the best. Definitely the best thing to an SCP kind of game
Just finished the main story last night, can't wait to jump back in and finish the side quests, explore, etc. Loving this game right now, a little buggy but all in all it's awesome! Story is so creative and quite a mind F**K. Some of the boss battles were extremely tough, I was pleasantly surprised, a couple gave me 15-20 tries to figure out the boss. Must buy!
This is probably the most interesting game I have played, I just love the art direction they took and there is so many surprising moments that amaze you or make you laugh, I love it.
Can't wait to play this on PS Plus Feb 2021! Just finished Tsushima and getting down on Legends mode is niceeeee. The transition from GoT to Control will be perfect........
I'm toward the end of this game now and it's pretty goddamned awesome. It took a few hours of play for me to get out of FPS mode since that's mostly what I've been playing, but once I got used to the game I found myself enjoying it more and more until finally I'm thinking to myself "this game fucking rules". It's so bizarre and so different from most games I've played, and like the reviewer said, this isn't exactly a horror game but it makes me more nervous and stressed out than normally what I'm comfortable with in a game and yet I can't stop playing it. The tension hardly ever lets up, EVER. I can go like five hour stretches of playing (I'm doing all the side missions I find as well so it's taking a pretty long time) and never feel comfortable once. Most games I would avoid like that like Resident Evil 2-- my life is stressful enough lol-- but this one I just can't let myself stop playing. Nothing against those games, I'm just sitting alone in a house in the woods and usually only play at night after a stressful day, I don't feel like sitting down and then getting horrified for hours after work lol. If you're on the fence about giving this a try, I'd say if the game even interests you at all and this kind of game you can see yourself enjoying, there's no way in fuck you won't love this. If you're not big into third person, metroidvania type games then who can say, but everything is so polished and well executed, the story is beautifully done and so creative and original, the live action cut-scenes are very well executed and sometimes very unsettling (puppet show... what the fuck man).... I find it hard to believe there's not something here for anyone to appreciate... but again, assuming that this kind of game is your type of thing. If not, who knows. Just want to reiterate... this game really creeps me out sometimes for absolutely no reason. It's got this vibe that gets under your skin and you can't shake this weird uneasy feeling, it's difficult to explain until you experience it yourself. It's mostly accomplished with just atmosphere,--the gore is minimal (if at all really) and the violence is pretty straight forward and tame. The game radiates with this tension that fucks with your subconscious and makes you uncomfortable without even realizing it's happening.
I feel anxious from the very start playing this game. It just makes me very uneasy and I dunno why. And the mumbling voices are creepy too and the eerie sounds & the music. I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing this as a horror game disguised as sci-fi supernatural action game. 😉😅
Brilliantly expressed. I say this because now I don't have to write it, you just said and expressed everything for me. Literally. I think I put in a 16 hr run on my ps4 pro. So that may be the only difference. If you asking how can I afford to put in 23 to 26 hours straight plahing a game... well... today's date is April 9tb, 2020. 5000...
damn bro, you just said everything i think about the game, i wandered if i were the only one feeling that oppression playing it, but at the same time wanting to play non stop. Freaking game, crazy story. MUST PLAY
Control is not only our Game of the Year for 2019 but also stands out as one of the most original adventures of the generation. It is an outstanding third-person shooter with a surreal supernatural twist. Some of the most exciting and frantic telekinetic fighting ever captured on pixels is provided by Remedy Entertainment. In addition to its fantastic use of superpowers, Control has some incredibly creative environmental design, with its Oldest House resembling a shape-shifting maze straight out of a fever dream shared by Stanley Kubrick and David Lynch. You'll complete interesting side quests, look for improvements to your skills and equipment, and seek out a plethora of collectibles while exploring Control's monster-filled corridors. These activities all contribute to the spooky bureaucracy that is at the core of Control's improbably unique experience.
"..when it's challenging that's when the combat is at it's best." well said. this is also my exact same sentiment. it's the combat that really makes this game. sure, there's tons of missions, lots of places to explore and discover, lots of hidden area's, but it's the combat that makes this game so good. Control is definitely a sleeper. I think die hard gamers who give this game a chance are in for one hell of time, game, and so much fun. usually i play a bunch of games in rotation but i've been stuck on control. i have the 2 dlc's which add more content to the game and it does it in a way that's superfluous. sure, you can follow the linear path and just engage in the missions required for progressing in the game, but that's surely boring mode for Control. Side missions, the extra content, all the abilities, Control for me is the funnest game I've played in a while.
Good before you buy. Sometimes your commentary is cliche but not this time. Well articulated without spoiling anything. Definitely a must buy to support single player games. Plus NO micro transactions! I think that is something that should be noted more often.
I got this game and right on midnight I played the game for like 20 hours straight and did pretty much everything including side quests I loved every min of it
Go buy this game. Just finished today it was fantastic. Very unique way to finish up the left over missions after the main storyline too. Combat never gets boring and constantly evolving enemy types. Great game
I was skeptical about this one, but looking at all the reviews seems to be a good game overall, so yeah, congrats to Remedy, I'm buying it. By the way this will be my first Remedy game so, we'll see what they got. Keep on gaming y'all.
@@jared4978 was about to say the same. I enjoy many of their games, but can't stop recommending Alan Wake. Even today, since it is gorgeous and ages well.
I'm just 2 hours into this game and gameranx is 100% on point. I only watch this channel's reviews both before and after buying the game. Awesome work guys!
I love Remedy games in general, but next to Alan Wake Control is my favorite amongst them. I loved it so much I went for & completed 100% of the Trophies! Such a great game.
I made a big mistake when starting to play this one. I selected my language for the audio and text and I wish I did not do that. The synchronisation of the actors is so incredibly bad and not synchron at all. The characters visibly talk much longer as the voice you can hear and the voices do not fit the characters. It made me hate the first 2 hours and because I thought it would be the same for the other languages, I did not change it at first. But when I finally changed it to english, it was so much better and now I enjoy it a lot more. Just a heads up for all non-english speakers, that like to play in their language: don't do it with Control. Just set the subtitles to your own language and your fine.
i love this show , thank you Jake and you team for the effort , honestly one of the best single player games i have played in 2019 so far especially if you have a strong graphic card to crank the options to maximum .
I'm playing thorough the game now and having an absolute blast. I hoped I would like it, and wound up LOVING it. I hope they continue to use this engine in future games too. It's tight, responsive, intuitive, and just feels great!
I've just started now aswell, enjoying it but how the heck do you remember where all the doors are. I'm at level two clearance and I just can't remember all the nooks and crannies I've navigated so far. Maps so confusing
You can actually have cover, you get an ability to use a shield to block most attacks. You can levitate, shield rush, mind control, ground slam and so much more. They're all side missions that you can easily miss and not get. The map in surface area is near to the Witcher 3. the combat is perfect, puzzles exciting and fun, the movement fresh and new. This game is perfect, give me one reason to hate it, ill wait all year.
no need, it is an exclusive , straight 9s , famistus gave it like 37/40 , if u own a switch , u would be nuts not to buy it......imagine someone owning a switch and didn't play mario or zelda....i think a review of DAEMON X MACHINA is better, that game i polarizing to say the least....
It isn't for everyone I think, but I really loved Control. I liked the story, the shooting, ext. I found myself going to cover a lot even though there isn't a cover system, and then popping round and killing a few enemies. It is easy in parts, and hard in others (final tomassi fight). I loved it and couldn't put it down
The map is my only gripe. Wish you could zoom in and set waypoints. Other than that and the unstable frame rates on Pc I find the game very satisfying.
My list of complaints is a laundry list of extremely poor design choices. Also, to expound on the map, 80% of the time I pull it up all I get is icons and text, no map. 25% of the time I go to weapons loadout it's locked. I have to tab over and back to use it.
@@miceandgods4171 That sucks. I guess ive been lucky. im a ways into the story now and i just had my first crash 10 minutes ago. You update your GPU driver? there have been 2 updates for mine since release.

nobody survives even one bit hence the games name. It’s not actually referencing her powers but actually the fact the game is much better played with a CONTROLler.
Grabbed this game when it was free on Epic Games but never ended up playing it until now... Right during my End Semester Exams... And my god I couldn't keep it down. It was so good to the point that I didn't even play Valorant for days which I played everyday. It really has this uneasy, mysterious feeling and a very unique way of telling the story. If you just watch the cutscenes then you still might understand the game, but going through the documents and the multimedia really gives you a whole new perspective and understanding of the world of Control. I tend to be a person who reads almost all these kinds of documents even though it feels tedious as hell. But I really enjoyed reading and watching those here. And the mix of live-action is really a nice touch. I really good game that I look forward to completing even more and optimistically hope for a sequel. A first for me playing a Remedy game... But man was it a great one to start with.
8 out of 10 ! This game is amazingly made, and such a great concept. Only Cons are; Sometimes you wonder “did I miss a spot and not grab a new power?” So you’ll run back basically wasting time to find out nothing. The other Con I really didn’t like was the upgrading system for mods. Most the time I just grab what I find and run it. Never really upgraded, besides a few times to just be like “alright let’s see what happens. Overall though, graphically it’s amazing. Suspenseful enough to not scare the heck out of you but keep you on your toes. And beautiful storyline that draws you in and get attached to the situation. I wouldn’t mind a Control 2!
Playing through it atm, nearly finished, and its amazing! Really love the combat, abilities, and environments. Pretty much wholeheartedly agree with this review 👌🏻 a must-play
With all the stuff going on in the world right now imma highly recommend this game. You WILL lose yourself in the game, especially if you're a sucker for tons of lore. 10/10 would recommend especially when social distancing or practicing self quarantine. This game has an excellent way of working it's way into your brain and not letting you go. I'm sure this time next year some part of me will still be obsessed with the mystery this game conveys.
@@Thomas-cr2pt Because everything in the game is so cerebral. It plays with your mind a lot. Makes you think. .....makes you think about things that make no sense, but then when you're high they make PERFECT sense. Plus the hiss murmur is weird as FUCK. Kinda fucks with your head.

THIS IS A WARNING TO ANYBODY DAT WANTS TO PLAY THIS GAME DO NOT REPLAY ANY MISSION AFTER U HAVE COMPLETED ANY DLC CONTENT. Why u might ask? Bcuz whatever u didn't have BEFORE u completed the main story WILL BE GONE. For example if u was level 5 during mission 3 and u completed the game at level let's just say 40 whatever u had during mission 3 is what you're gonna start with again. If u decide to go back to where u completed the game whatever u had will be there. When it comes to DLC content whatever u didn't have before u completed the game WILL BE GONE once replay a mission.

If this is your first time playing it, then you are so lucky. The GamePass version includes both DLCs meaning you get to experience the entire game all at once.
Phenomenal game, amazing story, beautiful environments, great gunplay, memorable character, some challenging enemies , fun as hell powers and fascinating lore galore!
Weird menus, mods were a hassle, saving and control points can get frustrating!
Buy it if you love a good mystery!
Really? Are you just new to play ps4 games?
Ok fred
I fell in love with this game and am hoping to see some sequels. Definitely potential for a trilogy at least. I finally got my platinum trophy for it about a month ago and still come back to this game. Practically always on sale and worth the buy in my opinion, especially for those who missed the free giveaway.
good news. a sequel is in the works. not much info besides that but its been confirmed

Finally played Control, 4 years later. Goddamn is it good!!
I appreciate this review
Best description of this game: X-Files + Infamous + The Matrix = VERY TRIPPY. Very interesting storyline, I really liked it for the most part! I beat the main game plus the DLCs a few hours ago!
I played it when it came out and now replaying and enjoying even more than last time.
Noo this was on gamepass??? Damn i missed it
@@HasteHub I enjoyed it so much I ended up buying the next Gen version with the 2 DLCs. Worth the money.
Must buy!

@@JAYHAWKER-88 yep, Control should be free to download on ps+ this Wednesday.
Really you finished tshushima your really had q lot of money make sure you havr still money to buy your food and allowance to go to school bro
Nasty Bedazzler wanna do my essay for me 😂 seems like u could
Do I.
If you asking how can I afford to put in 23 to 26 hours straight plahing a game... well... today's date is April 9tb, 2020. 5000...

Kind of reminds me of the old game Psi-Ops that I use to play on ps2.
Literally nobody else has ever remembered this game and I was thinking the same thing.
Me too. That game was ROUGH though lol. Still won points for originality back in the day tho
Yess. I forgot it was called Psi-Ops but i also thought it felt like it. That game was pretty awesome back in the the day
I swear ! But sadly , this is probably the closest thing we will get to a psi ops 2 😢
Or Second Sight!
I legit love this game. Gameplay. Graphics. Storyline. EVERYTHING. I bought this game months ago and I'm still playing and finding new things
Good before you buy. Sometimes your commentary is cliche but not this time. Well articulated without spoiling anything. Definitely a must buy to support single player games. Plus NO micro transactions! I think that is something that should be noted more often.
I got this game and right on midnight I played the game for like 20 hours straight and did pretty much everything including side quests I loved every min of it
This review series is the only review I actually trust. You’re not afraid to say if things suck.
Go buy this game. Just finished today it was fantastic. Very unique way to finish up the left over missions after the main storyline too. Combat never gets boring and constantly evolving enemy types. Great game

Ahti the Janitor is Martti Suosalo, a famous older finnish actor. He really does these kinda roles well!

How is the game ?
Love single player games like this one. Need to let the gaming industry know that gamers want more single player games. Great review on a neat game.
Yeah I'd like more single player games but not this one. This game is trash
This makes me really happy. Thanks gameranx for the great review (as usual) Luv you guyz
I love you too
I'm playing thorough the game now and having an absolute blast.
Sorry this is off topic but will you do one on astral chain?

Such a good game, super exited for the DLC. Ashtray maze was hands down the best thing.

Playing this game while high is crazy asf
Tell me why. Why is the match so good?
This was the answer I was looking for
@@Thomas-cr2pt Because everything in the game is so cerebral. It plays with your mind a lot. Makes you think. .....makes you think about things that make no sense, but then when you're high they make PERFECT sense. Plus the hiss murmur is weird as FUCK. Kinda fucks with your head.
@@dem160d I get that. I like that part. But the metroidvenia part is not my thing. I struggle with that, and extra when high. I checked some tips that help but I don't feel excitment knowing i get lost way more times.
@@Thomas-cr2pt To each their own I suppose. Getting lost is, I'd say, half the fun of a metroidvania game. That's how you find the secrets. That's how you find the RIGHT way to go.
But I getcha. Not every game is gonna be for everyone. If it were, that'd be a pretty boring game.
You know what, like, stands out.. at least for me, with these reviews. It's that the voiceover is real, man. It's really something sharing their thoughts. Not some witty copywritten text with fancy words. Keep it real. great !

If u decide to go back to where u completed the game whatever u had will be there. When it comes to DLC content whatever u didn't have before u completed the game WILL BE GONE once replay a mission.
