I have a Crapsman Lt1000 riding mower. After running it 10 minutes it shut off. Ill restart it and it will fire up for 2 seconds then die. I can do this till the battery dies. Ive tried 2 different carbs from Scamazon but the same result as mentioned above. I ordered a new gas cap, hoping this will fix the problem
does it have an anti-backfire solenoid on the bottom of the carb? Is it working? Are you sure it's fuel starvation? did you squirt fuel in the carb when it starts to die to see if it revs back up? hook up a spark tester, does it go out when it dies or stay lit?
I have had venting problems but not that often, perhaps it’s more common on a Tecumseh. Problem I have a lot on Kawasaki strimmers is fuel leaking through the cap holder hole good video 🙂👍
@@KensSmallEngineRepair and the friend thinks I’m some sort of small engine genius. Same guy has a Stihl blower he couldn’t start after sitting for about 1 year. I brought it home, dumped the fuel, and with air filter off squirted some 50:1 in the carb and it barked. So I filled tank with fresh fuel and it ran fine. Took it back over few hours later. Ta! Da!
@@KensSmallEngineRepair and sometimes we are like me on the Tailgator carb clean and spark plug wire end fix the other day. All fixed and running good in the evening, and let it sit for cold start in the morning. Morning comes, it won’t start. Full choke, half choke, no choke, nothing. 15 or 20 pulls, various choke settings and arm angles to pull it hard and fast, bad hand, good hand, nothing. Finally it dawns on me! Got to turn kill switch to O instead of I. Starts on next pull. Now that would be a better funnier video than the one I did post.
EXCELLENT info Brutha!
The simple stuff always eludes us!
It’s a small thing that people do not think about, but will certainly cause a headache. Thanks Ken

Was it the gas cap? I am in a similar predicament but not sure...
Good info, Ken! Thanks. By the way, I hear it's pronounced Tecumish. 🤣🤣
Only in Podunct Indiana
Something I very seldom check, but I can definitely see its importance

Those caps can fool you, thanks for watching!
My lawn mower dies after running for a while. Carb was rebuilt last year. I'm think it's the cap....thanks for the info
Friend with JD L110 called me “cut 1/2 yard and it died”. Open the cap, leave it a little loose. Working still.
I love the simple fixes

My seal broke so took it of hole on middle opened is that good enough our I still got buy new cap.
As long as it doesn’t leak all over the place that will work
Someone may have already mentioned it, but James just released a video yesterday with a push mower with the same issue.
He texted me after he saw mine and said I would enjoy his!
it's the little things that can cause the engine to stop running not always the carb issue it's a venting issue
Nice one ken
Thanks for watching Pete!
Great video thanks you❤
Thanks for watching!
