- Neil Young performs "Pocahontas" at the Farm Aid concert in Raleigh, NC on September 13, 2014.
Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's board of directors in 2001.

ive seen neil play about a 100 times through video, and live in seattle, were he did a solo performance, and I have never seen him play a guitar like this, a small acostic, which looks like a martin. he allways plays Pocahontas on his 12 string taylor, tuned down 1 whole step.

Uh Neil, Pocahontas was not of a plains tribe but a Virginia one so she never saw bison or much of the rest of what you write about. So for her ancestors (like my wife) lets do a little research next time.

The guitar was not in standard tuning, man; there are other tuning setups that can be employed on guitars. (Research, please. Thank you).
junantonio88 the chord shapes say it’s definitely in standard tuning. You don’t know what you’re talking about. Maybe dropped a half or whole step, but that’s hardly considered an alternate tuning. (Research please, TY) And I agree with James, guitar doesn’t sound great. It’s probably a lovely little guitar to pick on the porch or on the couch but not good live on stage. I’ve loved Neil my whole life but he should stick to the dreadnaughts.
