    Well done, sir. Very few people understand that amp draw is lowest when completely blocked. That is the case with anything that moves air. It makes perfect sense when you think of about it from the standpoint that the more air that's flowing, the more amps it draws. While restricting flow also cuts off airflow to cool the motor at the same time with most vacuums. This little 12v vac won't, nor is it designed to, replace all the tasks a shop vac can do. But, as you show, it can handle a lot of them. Pretty amazing to me that they got it to run at all on those little bullet packs. Really pleased with the run times you got. Most of my vacuuming tasks only last a couple of minutes at a time. Keep up the great work.

I'm seriously considering purchasing one of these in the very near future. but now that I actually watch the video I know my six amp batteries will do just fine for the small projects I have in mind for this.

    I've run the first gen 18 volt vac in job site conditions without issue. That being said, I never ran it very long; just for small jobs, like vacuuming under a kitchen sink cabinet after drilling plumbing holes. When it comes time for bigger jobs, out comes the Ridgid corded shop vac. I believe these compact Milwaukee vacs do a good job for their intended use - small vacuuming jobs where you don't want to drag a full-size vac.

      @@mikejones5364 90% of the problems I have had with any Milwaukee tools was the switches or circuit boards one on my impact wrench and one of my impact guns kept killing the switches. The last tool I sent out was my 6”1/2 circular saw which was almost out of warranty and they replaced the rotor housing circuit board and switch and everything I sent out has been working perfectly. It’s definitely sucks to have to wait for a tool especially if you do not have any backup ones, but I did on all the tools I sent out except the impact wrench which I only use to service my one truck. I will say that the 5 year warranty is is great and the E-Service is good to, but you right about the turn around time is around 3 weeks and that could be an issue for people who do not have any backup tools.

    Haven’t watched the video yet, but I’m on my second M12 wet/dry vac. The first unit flashed alternating two and two battery lights after about twenty seconds of running it. I tried multiple batteries with no difference...
    After doing some more creative testing, I found that it went in to thermal overload each time I moved the vacuum. - Turn it on, run of two seconds, shake vacuum, and it shut down on overload. At that point, I assumed there was a bad solder joint somewhere on the printed circuit board or another component.
    I exchanged the vacuum for a different unit and I haven’t had any issues since... But I’m monitoring closely.

      Does your unit start out somewhat loud and then quiet down on high? I thought perhaps mine was not able to go full power, but then when I switched to low, it got slightly quieter. @@pdillenburg do you by any chance remember when your original one was manufactured, as well as can you tell me the date of your current one too? I just got an M12 packaged with the 6.0 (currently $149) And so far I haven't had any issues, but I've been so used to the non-pack out M18 one that I almost felt like I wanted to return it and just get the M18. Before the M12 I actually bought the packout one because I wanted it for a long time but honestly I returned it the next day because I just for some reason wasn't impressed with it comparing it to my non-packout M18. Now it's got me wondering if one of two things happened, maybe the packout one that I got I had something wrong with it, or my 9.0 batts (the older gray label ones that apparently have issues that I also just learned) May have not been powering it as much as it should have been. But with the same 9.0's it seemed like it really wasn't that much more powerful than my dad's non-packout M18. Also seemed to drain battery quicker which I found weird since the packout is brushless.

    Perhaps those experiencing thermal shutdown after a few seconds are using old batteries. After a few hundred charging cycles, the capacity and power output of most batteries diminish significantly.

    Do you mind if I ask a somewhat unrelated question? Do you (or anyone reading this) have any experience with the original m12 drill? The reason I ask is because I recently got one and no matter how tight I tighten the chuck the bit will not stay tight. Wondering if I’m doing something wrong or is it just a bad one or maybe a common problem, no clue.

    • @TheFunnyCarpenter
      @TheFunnyCarpenter  3 года назад

      I don’t have any experience with that particular drill. When you are tightening the chuck are you clicking it back slightly at the end to lock it in place?

      @@TheFunnyCarpenter yes I tried that. Maybe I’m not doing it right, I’ll try it again. I’ve never owned a drill with that type of chuck so it’s weird to me.

    Good grief, 10 minutes of use for the price? That's COMPLETELY unacceptable. I'm looking for something small for my RV that will handle pet hair. Was ready to plunk down the cash until I found so many RUclips reviews stating the overheating issues. 😲 Guess the search continues. 🙁

      The vacuum is going for $99 in 2024... I think it's a good price for 10 min of portable vacuuming on one battery. You could always carry extra batteries. I'm buying one.

  • @benpalmby1233

    Your theories are way off. The shutdown is caused by batteries that were left in in sub zero temps triggering firmware temp sensors in the M12 vac.
    Problem primarily reported in northern states and cooler climates.

I predict pallet loads of these available at CPO as reconditioned in a couple months as they filter back through Milwaukee from the Hime Depot “return to vendor” process. Home Depot has recently pulled from their website and the other large retailers show no stock now as well. I just need to decide weather to call Milwaukee or return it and wait for them to stock the upgraded units. Love the size of it so I prefer to no go M18
