Great idea, but not mine, just my twist on design we did back in the school days. Thank you for your comment Jack😉
They look great. It would be really good to see in more detail how you create such a lovely finish to them both.
Hi! Dark brown one - 3 coats of varnish; silver one - 2 coats of paint, slightly sanded after drying; black with silver - first coat black, after randomly cover with silver paint (not completely), slightly sand to reveal black through silver. I planing to make video about finishing wood in the future. Thank you for the question😉
@@craftyshed thanks for taking the time to respond.

These are stunning! I am making some for presents and used tiny screw eyes instead of making small holes to secure bauble.. It gives it a cleaner look. Also noticed on the 2 hole tree the top bauble is smaller. On the hunt for baubles that are identical but different sizes. Thank you for sharing, this is a great project.
Thank you so much for your kind words and great tips! Using tiny screw eyes is a clever idea for a cleaner look. I'm glad you found the project inspiring! 😊🎄
Nice job😍🤩❤
Thanks 😋
🤩
Obrigado pelos belos exemplos. Sou totalmente leigo em marcenaria, mas consegui produzir duas peças a partir de suas dicas. Feliz Natal!!
I am glad you find my video helpful. Thank you for your comment. Merry Christmas!🎄🎄🎄
Thank you for a detailed video. How long does it takes to make one 🌲 with two baubles?
You are welcome! It depends, I spend around 15min for one, because I made batch of 12 (3h in total). If you need only one - 25-30 min, most time goes for setting up tools/cleaning/painting. I normally make them in batches of 12 or 24, to save the time. Thank you for your question😉
Bnos noche
Ps yo no tengo la herramienta pero me vino la idea de hacer lo con icopor grueso 😂😂😂😂
What did you use for the clear wrapping at the end? Thank you
Hi! Clear Cellophane Treat Bags - I bought them from Amazon, they are usually sold in packs of 50 (10cent a piece, might be even less). Thank you for your question.
можно две просьбы: начинайте с вывески из шурупов и где весёлая музыка, новогодняя. завтра сделаю такие же ёлки - лобзик и коронки есть = you can make two requests: start with a sign made of screws and where is the cheerful music, New Year's. tomorrow I will make the same Christmas trees - there is a jigsaw and crowns
Нужно будет сделать новую вывеску. Старую давно уже разобрал - не хватало саморезов чтобы закончить работу 😅
Great video and great design. What size baubles did you use?
Hi! I used small baubles (approx 1" / 25mm diameter, might be slightly larger). Thank you for your question.
Thanks for quick reply.
I found brown paint, but what white paint? very beautiful color!
Hi! Dark brown - 3 coats of varnish; silver one - 2 coats of paint (with aluminium powder), slightly sanded after drying; black with silver - first coat black, after randomly cover with silver paint (not completely), slightly sand to reveal black through silver. Thank you for the question😉
These are beautiful! What is the width of the base of the tree?
Width of the base is 7"/ 180mm. Thank you.
Great instructions. One question, how long in cm is the base of your triangles (option 1)?
Hi! Base of Those triangles is approximately 7"(18cm), but this is correct for 9" (23cm) wide boards. Basically you don't need to measure anything, just set your saw at 30º angle, make the first cut, then flip the board over and cut again through the "top/peak" of the triangle. Please note that you need small Christmas baubles for this project. Thank you for your question.
@@craftyshedhow Come you did not use the forstner bit directly on the wood when the wood was a whole triangle(one piece)? Is it not possible to first use the forestner and then use the hole saw?
@@poya1981Hi! I think you are right, it is possible to do that way, just little more measuring, but easier to secure work piece. Thank you.
Great video! Can you tell me what paint you used?
Hi! Dark brown - 3 coats of varnish; silver one - 2 coats of paint, slightly sanded after drying; black with silver - first coat black, after randomly cover with silver paint (not completely), slightly sand to reveal black through silver. Thank you for the question😉
@@craftyshed Thanks a lot! have a nice day!
What’s the trees measurements ? Great job!!!
It is about 9" tall, because I used 9" wide board. If you can get 11" wide board your tree will be 11" tall. It is approx. 5" wide, but I do not have one at the moment to check exactly.Thank you for your question.🎄🎄🎄
Thank you so much for the quick response!!! 👏🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Love these! Can you provide the dimensions please? Thank you!!
Hi! I did this project almost a year ago, so I do not remember all dimensions, but I used a planned 9” by 1” board, cutting angle was 22.5. Position and the size of the hole is not critical for this project - just big enough to fit a small Christmas bauble and not too big, so there is enough material to hold everything together. Thank you for your question.
@@craftyshed Thank you so much!!
Do have somewhere i can go to get the measurements, hole sizes and angles? Thanks.
Hi! I used a planned 9” by 1” board, cutting angle is 22.5, the size of the hole saw is not critical for this project - just big enough to fit a small Christmas bauble and not too big, so there is enough material to hold everything together. Thank you for your question.🎄😉
What colour/type paints are you mixing to get that effect please?
Hi! For the brown one I used water based dark walnut varnish (2-3 coats). For silver with black - 1st layer black, 2nd layer silver paint applied in short strokes not to fully cover the base coat, let it dry for a bit (not fully) lightly hand sand some parts with P60 sanding paper. For silver one - 2 coats of silver paint lightly hand sanded with P60-P80 sanding paper to reveal the wood grain. Start sanding from edges, just a few strokes here and there to reveal the bottom coat. Thank you for your question.
@@craftyshed thank you so much for sharing. Very refreshing.
What is the awe if the tool you use to make the hole for the tea light.
Hi! In this Video I use these forstner drill bits similar to amzn.to/3h0hWfp they are 1 ½” (38mm) for standard tea light. Tea lights with melted wax effect are slightly larger in diameter, so for them you need 1 9/16 (40mm) forstner drill bit similar to these amzn.to/47UrLAC . Thank you for your question.
Thanks so much
Same measurementa/angles for 1×11?
Hi! I think it should be the same angle, but I would suggest cutting one first and see how it looks. You can change the cutting angle according to your taste. I always check everything on the first unit before going to batch production (applies to any project). Thank you for your question.🎄
Where did you get your hole saw set. I can’t find those sizes anywhere
Hi! Thank you for your question. I got it years ago, I don’t remember where (it was really cheap). Actually, the size of the hole saw not critical for this project. Just big enough to fit a small Christmas bauble and not too big, so there is enough material left to hold everything together. 🎄🎄🎄😉
I have a similar hole saw set. I bought it at LIDL for about 14 Euro's.
I bought mine at LIDL as well, from that 30% reduced basket. It's fine for DIY projects like this. @@hansdegroot8549
How wide is your base?
Hi! Be honest, I never measured the base. I cut first at 22.5 degrees, then flip the board over and cut again 22.5 degrees from the very edge (top) of the board , flipped again and cut and so on. In the video I never marked for cutting. Depending on the board width the base will change. Cutting angle is also not critical for this small project, you can cut 30 or 20 degrees. I hope it helps. Thank you for your question.
Do you sell them and if yes, how much? I cannot access the Amazon stores for some reason.
What size board do you use
Hi! I use 1"x 9" (25mm x 225mm) planned pine board. Wider will do even better. Thank you for the question.
I’m trying to make these out of pine and the tree is breaking in half when I try drilling the top hole. What am I doing wrong?
Hi! Just a few things that can cause the top breaking off - 1. Work piece needs to be secured with a clamp against some flat scrap wood, so there is backing behind (exactly as I did in the video) and this triangle cannot move while you are drilling/cutting a hole. 2. Try to reduce the speed, especially towards the end, when it is almost through (my video is sped up 3x when I’m cutting that hole) 3. Not enough material to hold things together, try to reposition or reduce hole saw diameter if possible, just so there is more material left to hold everything together. Thank you for the question.
Happend to me as well the first time. I think using clamp above top hole causing it to breaking. Try placing the clamp below the top hole.
What size wood do I use Thank you
Hi! For this project I used 1" by 9" (25mm x 225mm). If you have a wider board that is even better, just keep in mind that if wood is even slightly wet (moist) it will get crooked when you bring it inside the house. It happened to my trees, but not too bad. Thank you for the question.
@craftyshed Thank you so much love your videos
How far up on option 2 is the mark for the hole saw.
Hi! I did them last year, so I do not remember the exact number, but it is not really important. Just keep enough material around the hole to keep everything together (not too close to the edge), rest is the personal preference. Thank you for your question.
@@craftyshed I just cut mine it's 3 3/4
Thank you for sharing😉
Better then this craft are your perfect nails
I appreciate your compliment. While nails might be perfect, I hope you also found the craft enjoyable and inspiring. If you have any questions or suggestions for future projects, feel free to share them.🎄🎄🎄😉
@@craftyshed jokes aside, you gave me great idea what to do for this holidays good Sir
Talking and explaining would good . Can't see what sizes or any thing. Is there a reason you don't explain things?
Because I don't fu*kin' want to 😂😂😂
Hi! It is always a dilemma for me, should I explain or not. Some people prefer straight to the point information, some with more explanation. I’m still not sure what works best. Thank you for your comment.
When I am looking for an answer on youtube I prefer short, straight to the point videos. But sometimes a little more explanation would be beneficial. I am still looking for the right type of videos for my channel.

The nail polish really threw me off
I can understand how the nail polish might be unexpected, but I hope you still enjoyed the video! Will ask my nail artist for matte shellac, that not so shiny. Thank you for your comment.
How much would you sell this for for the time you put in it
Thank you for your question. I would sell them one for 12 or two for 20. Cost per unit - around 1 to 1.25 for material (dry, planned pine board), varnish/paint, sandpaper, decorations, etc. Usually I make them in batches of 12 or 24, so I spend under 15 minutes per unit including painting and decoration. I have 4 school goers at home, so if something is unsold before Christmas, these decorations are good gifts for their teachers, childminders and others. I give these away instead of cookie tins/sweets.🎄😉
@@craftyshed thanks for the reply I used a melamine board already with the espresso paint all I had to do is sand the cuts and stain the circles and edges thank you for the amazing idea
