    Five lovely decorative ideas. Someone commented on using wood for a candle holder but you could use a battery operated one or use copper pipe sections to line the wooden holder.

  • @pamthompson3170
    @pamthompson3170 2 дня назад

    I wonder if you could make the snow man into a stacking toy? Make the center hole bigger. Have a half-inch dowel that could be removed. Snowman could be stacked anyway. Haven't figured out the arms yet. So they could be taken off or on. Nose could be an off/on. Hat could be a post like piece that could be set on top, or drill hole, make it come out the snowmans head, and have a hole in hat so it could be added to top.??? Just a idea to make it into a toy.

    Taylor, I made a ton of snowflakes this year for sale and did very well. I also changed up the design slightly by adding a solid hexagon in the center to add my diamonds to for the larger version. For the smaller one I used two angles in the center, one at 30 degrees and the other at 60 degrees which closed up the hole in the center and gave full bearing for diamonds.

    • @boydstongrove
      @boydstongrove  Год назад +1

      These are the measurements to my three blocks:
      block one - 3" x 3" x 3", block two- 2.5" x 2.5" x 2.5", block three - 2" x 2" x 2"
      Standard 4x4 in America actually measures 3.5"x 3.5" so you could just cut a piece off 3.5" long for your first block and that way you only have to really worry about the other two blocks. If you did that, your three blocks should measure:
      Block one - 3.5" x 3.5" x 3.5", block two 3" x 3" x 3", block three - 2.5" x 2.5" x 2.5"
      I did make some rough plans for these projects, so if you want to e-mail me at Boydstongrove@yahoo.com I'd be happy to send them to you.

    With the snowman/tealight candle holder, have you painted the inside part of the snowman? If so, how did you accomplish that?

    • @boydstongrove
      @boydstongrove  2 месяца назад

      I used some white stain on that candle holder and I just used some rags to get on the inside. A small brush would probably work better though, or spray paint.

      To be honest, I purposely left mine rough, and the white didn't cover on mine either, but I wanted that look so I was ok with it. Most people I sold to liked the somewhat worn, farm style look. Now the little diamonds that we hand painted covered great, but that was house grade exterior paint. Personally I liked the contrast between the solid grey pieces next to the rustic white parts.

    I really like the small houses you made. I was wondering if there is another type of finish you could recommend to use oldies is a bit pricey

      Definitely! I use boiled linseed oil a lot. It's very affordable and you can get it at most hardware stores. It just doesn't smell great so you need to let the pieces air out. Any kind of Polyurethane would work fine, long as you give it the proper dry time. I've also seen a lot of these houses painted black and they look really nice.
