    For Bristol, you may want to go with smooth instead of vellum. Vellum, watercolor, and mix media have greater tooth which kills marker tips. And the papers are heavily absorbing, ink dies fast as result.

      Vellum texture is a medium to fine texture for most papers, Strathmore Bristol vellum is actually great for most water based markers. And only cold pressed watercolor paper is rough, hot press is less textured than vellum and only slightly more textured than Bristol smooth. Additionally, the paper will only be highly absorbent if it’s made of 100% cotton. If you use cellulose paper made of wood pulp, which is usually considered a student grade paper the ink will sit on top of it a lot longer

      vellum is nice yet it still has that bleed in surprise. crescent is great paper, yet it does star and fuzz yet, but it's a game changer when it comes to alcoholic based materials for art projects. high detailed stuff. the price is madness, yet if you want the perfect look besides that no water colour mode makes this still good. less paper more money.

    Thank you! I bought a seriously ridiculously large chest of alcohol markers. You just reminded me that I can use mixed media, Bristol and card stick. I was strong in nit buying markers until I saw the red metal chest of 160 alcohol markers. I lost my composure and bought them. I then found you so thanks for posting !

      I just bought my niece a 72 set, and a skin tone set for Christmas. I’ve already spent so much.... but I’d like to get her a practice journal and then maybe paper for more serious work. What would you recommend? I was thinking a Stillman&Birn Zeta journal, it has smooth card stock like paper, and maybe the Strathmore Mixed Media mentioned in this video.

      @@geslinam9703 you weren't asking me, but I recently bought a travelogue journal and it works wonders! It's quite affordable (the size I got, landscapes, is $12) and it holds watercolor, graphite, charcoal, marker, etc! I use it just to do random sketches or to practice without using paper that cost me a fortune (like Strathmore. I only use that for special drawings.)

    I recently got the rendr it's cool . The reason the paper is not true white is because it has a thin layer of black plastic in the paper. So underneath all that white paper is black plastic stuff . It's how they keep it bleed proof but it's also why it can be a challenge to blend and why it doesn't soak into the paper . There's a physical barrier to prevent leakage .

    First, I was only going for the cresent rendr paper but after my style changed, I think something with a bit more texture might do better for me since I like making a more painterly style with markers, and I decided to just give up on the magical bleed proof paper, I never used it but I have been eyeing it for a long time. Yes, the thicker paper will eat up the marker ink but I will only be making smaller illustrations, so I think I'll go for the strathmore mix media paper! Thank you so much for this video!

      If you can make computer paper work with markers, then you are truly talented! It's tricky to find the right paper, and I think there's definitely something to be said for just learning to work with a paper that is less good quality. I like these papers because they are all really budget friendly-- especially that first cardstock I mentioned... at 4 cents a sheet, it's the comfort of computer paper with a lil' extra thickness for blending! ;D try it out!

    Hello , Amanda! Please, can you say something about the soaking of the markers into each paper, because I know when we use different tnan copic type papers, like the cards you show, they could soak the ink too fast from our markers, even if they make great color result at the end. This is what I would like to save myself - I dont want to buy some card paper which will soak my markers too fast at the end.

    • @creative.and.caffeinated
      @creative.and.caffeinated  3 года назад +2

      Most of the papers I like absorb a lot of ink. It definitely shortens the life of your markers, but for me it’s worth it because I can layer the ink as much as I want. If I could recommend a paper that’s still durable but not as absorbent, it would be the car stock I mentioned. It’s a good paper for finding balance between sturdiness and blendability without drying out your markers too quickly!

If you’re just starting out, I really do recommend card stock. It’s very forgiving and you can usually find a bulk pack at a reasonable price, which means you won’t be afraid to use it and make mistakes. The Gospel, which means the Good News is the news that God Almighty, the Creator came in the flesh as Jesus Christ to take away the sin of the world. The one God is a trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Son came and laid down his own life to save ours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for our redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him.
